[Q] GT-I1900G DZKJ2 original kernel - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, I am newbie here, actually i was wondering. I have tried many times browsing on googles but it seems that my hard work is being wasted. I root my samsung galaxy s2 GT-i1900G using odin v1.85 with GT-I9100G_DZKI1 inscure by odia..
the thing is, i want to root back to my original..meaning i want to unroot it..how can i unroot back?
i 1st was trying to find the original kernel which is I1900G_DZKJ2 (kernel version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2)
My plan was to find the original kernel and root it back as i did before so it would back to the original 1.
Is it what am i doing is correct?
p/s: I root using odin..how should i unroot back using odin and if what am i saying on top is correct, where can i get the original kernel for the specification given above?
Thx,
Newbie

A XDA or Google search for I1900G_DZKJ2 full firmware or kernel .
Unroot is flashing a non rooted kernel or firmware and if for warranty will also require the custom rom counter to be set to zero via USB Jig .

[Q] Rooting the Samsung Galaxy S2 - India Version

Okay guys, First off I apologize if my post is too noobish. Yes I am a noob at all this.
I rooted my phone using steps mentioned here - http://samsunggalaxys2review.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=43
I bought my phone in india with the KE8 update, and now the About Phone section shows the following:
Android Version - 2.3.3
Bsaeband Version - I9100DDKE2
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL 161513
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWKE8.
I read about a post for rooting the galaxy S2 here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671
and am a little bit confused. Firstly did I do the rooting with a piece of old software or something? Do I need to do the rooting again or flash my phone with some other latest software ?
Can someone please spoon feed me some info about:
1. Whether I need to infact update my software and flash my phone again
2. If so how?
Thanks a lot guys, and again sorry for being too noobish :S
flash CF-root KE8 kernal as per
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
that way you can keep your KE8 and have Root AFAIK
(take no responsibility blah blah blah)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671
I found this thread here and here they have given source of the Stock KE8 Kernel. Since i have already rooted my phone, is it enough if I just flash my phone with this stock kernel to have the latest software in my phone?

yes just download the stock kernel KE8 and flash over the rooted one, and your phone will still be rooted
Well I have rooted mine yesterday after a 3 hours effort. I think there should be a thread for Noobs like OP and me which will elaborate the Steps & Methods, the Application needed etc. in a Simple way with good demonstration. Not everybody had Android before, so for the new comers this is hard, very hard to understand all these. Like I am now having difficulties with ADB, I don't even know where to install it and from where, how to use it? The devs are very easy with these stuffs and they just mention the software name, but we, newcomers to Android are getting puzzled. It's a like a 5 year old baby has to face class X straightaway.
Some basic faqs SGS1 mostly same SGS2 .

Thanks mate. Just 1 more question:
Firmware info
PDA:XWKE8
PHONE: DDKE2
CSC:ODDKE2
Build date: 18/05/2011
Generic India (ODD): www(dot)multiupload(dot)com/6OZ2KOHB07
XWKE8 Stock Kernel: www(dot)multiupload(dot)com/ZTRYIQ5S35
There was another thread where I found this. Which here should I use? What is ODD Generic India and what is the difference between this and the Stock Kernel?
And btw here is a guy that explains everything in detail on youtube:
I followed his instructions, and did exactly what he did and rooted my phone in 10 mins

This is the stock kernel which came from the Samsung factory. The phone is NOT rooted if you did not root it. You can do rooting with an insecure kernel and then revert back to the stock kernel, keeping the root intact.

Rooting with stock kernel?

Hello all,
To begin here are the current specs of my At&t Samsung Galaxy S2:
Model Number: SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
Android Version: 2.3.6 (yes, i have done OTA update from 2.3.4)
Baseband Version: I777UCKK6
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7
Build number: GINGERBREAD.UCKK6
So now onto the reason for this post, I have spent several hours...several months uptil now trying to fully understand the rooting process for the At&t Samsung Galaxy S2 and I have a few questions around the entire process that i would like to get some concrete input on.
My objective behind rooting is only to get SuperUser access and be able to remove all of the at&t/samsung apps i dont need or use, and to use apps like titanium backup to backup all my stuff...i dont plan to ever install anything custom on my sgs2 as the stock rom is sufficient enough for what i do on the phone (at the moment).
with that said:
1) is it possible to keep everything stock and just but just enable the SuperUser access, if so, can some1 point me in the direction of what all i need to achieve this?
2) (if #1 is achieved and ) if i just root the phone by keeping everything stock, is there a posibility that my flash counter on sgs2 will get incremented? ( i am aware that there is a method to undo/reset the flash counter back to 0 ("NO"), but i would like to avoid incrementing it to begin with).
thanks for your input!
FI
Hit my return to stock thread - includes a prerooted system image with stock kernel for UCKK6.
Prerooted system images don't trigger the custom binary count.

thanks, i have studied ur post in detail actually, and then for some odd reason, i drifted off onto other threads where i got a bit concerned about the binary flash counter...
Edit: re-visiting your post, i know that it was the thread by creepyncrawly that got me in the concerned stage

[email protected] #2
buildnumber: GINGERBREAD.XWKK2
thank you, and sorry for my bad English
greetings Boomreview
No odin it is a flash tool to flash entire rom or kernel.
Kernel are normally rooted so you can flash a tar file in pda and obtain root and cmw to flash custom rom.
To flash you have to put phone in download mode.
Custom rom have different graphics and some feature but battery life is same.
I suggest you cf root kernel to root and gain cmw.
Also to know your firmware version dial *#1234* and check pda

Please read the Quick Root Guide in Intratech's first post of this thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
He describes two rooting method, but as you are running a relatively new ROM, the zergRush exploit method won't work for your phone. (The other rooting method will work fine.)
The easiest rooting method is to flash a rooted kernel, such as CF-Root.
Here is Chainfire's thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399&highlight=CF+Root
Stick to his description.
There are a lot of other "good" kernels which will root your phone, increase performance and extend battery life (e.g. SpeedMod, Siyah, NEAK and RedPill).
You will have to search a little bit and then make your own decision.
P.S.: After flashing an insecure/custom kernel, you will get a yellow triangle at boot and the binary counter will be increased.
That's why Intratech and Chainfire also describe how to get rid of the yellow triangle. Or you buy a USB Jig to remove the yellow triangle and reset the counter.

[Q] Help with insecure & stock kernels..I9100T!

Hi,
First time rooting my SG S2 GT-i9100T and I bricked my mobile last night and spent the last 24hrs searching the web for a solution. I finally used CheckFusDownloader_v2.1 as mentioned in one of the forums and was able to down the firmware and unbricked it by flashing it through odin.
I have little to zip experience with rooting and I think I flashed the wrong CF root (used CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXX_LPB-v5.2-CWM5-PROPER.zip ***). I ended up with the yellow triangle and then nothing...black screen. I rebooted several times and no result...tried recovery reset...nothing. Ordered a USB jig online today and soon after found the Checkfusdownloader and downed the firmware.
I can't seem to find the right CF-Root or the right insecure/original kernel to be able to root my SG S2. The youtube vids and other sites seem to require an insure and original kernel....
1) Is there any other (simple) way to root the SGS2? (tried superoneclick...w/o success)
2) Can anyone help me find the insecure and original kernel that I need?
3) Anyone know if the firmware I downed using checkfusdownloader or from samfirmware is the stock kernel? (I9100TDULPB_I9100THUTLP8_I9100TDULP4_HOME.tar.md5)
My Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100T info:
android: 4.0.3
kernel ver: ...I9100TDULPB
baseband: I9100TDULP4
I'd appreciate any help!
Cheers,

[Q] Hey guys...A little confused...

i am new to this device but i am not new to xda. i just picked up this device recently and im coming from the huawei ideos x6 forum. i am very familiar with odin and know how to use it. i was reading on the root thread and found that i have to go back to jfd 2.1 with odin. in the root guide i downloaded odin but the stock files i need to put into odin to flash are not there. can anybody be so kind to point me where i can find them? i am wanting to go to jelly bean which i have now on my other device and would like to use this device as my daily driver instead of my other. is there an easier way to get where i need to go? my goal is to have the latest cwm recovery and be running a jelly bean rom. any suggestions on how you guys think i should get to the point where i need to be? and my device is currently unlocked. thanks guys and all suggestions and opinions are greatly appriciated.
Oh i forgot my current software details are;
Model number: SGH-T959
Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version:T959UVKA2
Kernel Version: 2.6.29
Build Number: ECLAIR.UVKA2
Yes you should to go back to stock then you can flash JB, it takes two flashes to successfully flash JB (first flash upgrades cwm). As for the files to revert to stock with Odin, you can find them here http://rootzwiki.com/topic/605-guid...nja-apps-everything/page__p__11106#entry11106 (they are located 8th post down if the link doesn't directly take you there). Note, after flashing to stock you will need the update.zip B (from the root/odin sticky) on your internal sd card which will give you cwm on stock , then you can flash JB (remember to flash twice). You can also find the stock JFD files in the bible thread , go herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982728 and click ROMS, then click stock JFD at the bottom of the list. You may need to unlock your phone again after going to stock, if so go here http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...lIDoBg&usg=AFQjCNGhnJw3ZNH4_1OmhoQ9kfkjeYaf5Q and download galaxy s unlock , to unlock your phone again.
