The X2 is now a paper weight.
I was scrolling from homescreen to homescreen and it just rebooted. Will not boot up. Hangs at the "dual core technology" part. Tried going into stock recovery to maybe SBF back.. hangs at "starting rsd protocol support".
Shes done.
Depending on what I get as a replacement tomorrow, I may be back, I may not. Well, I'll always be back, just maybe not in the same capacity. Cant make themes for a phone I don't have.. hard to test them.

If I cant get into CWR or factory recovery I dont see how. The worst part is, I wasnt even doing anything reckless when it happened.

Do you change the bootstrap to "charge only" mode ever? If not, pull your battery, plug it into a wall charger (without battery) and watch it boot into recovery.
Give it a shot mayne
Never used charge mode and it was (when it broke) and is now.. plugged into the wall.
Did you power on by holding power button + volume down until "Fastboot" shows up top right? Then use volume down to scroll to android Recovery. That doesn't work?
No sir. I am going to go try and fix it the Russian way.. if anyones ever seen Armageddon, they will know what that means. If not, lets just say the screens resiliency is about to get tested.... be back in 5.

Lol. Unplug it from the wall, pop the battery out, plug it back in. Try it boss.
mistawolfe... what you suggested may have done the trick but I would like to assume it's what I did. After throwing it across my yard as far as I could and then finding it and kicking it back to the house it now booted into stock recovery where I wiped data factory rest... then rebooted and it came up with Eclipse bone stock. Not a scratch on it either.. screen is as good as advertised!

That was going to be my 2nd suggestion. Glad you're back!
If you power down the phone then plug it into the wall charger it will boot into clockworkmod by its self. If you have it installed.

Dang dude, glad to hear its up and running now.
And never forget about "this is how we fix problem in Russian Space station"
HOLY CRAP. This should be a sticky for how to get revenge on your x2 and MAKE THAT HOE RESPECT YOU.
I cannot believe that worked. Amazing. Every so often electronic act up and a good whack pow smack kick shows it who's boss hahahaha
Im guessing it was Mistas idea that worked..lol they just happened at the same time so I still can believe it was the beat down.
I'm not really sure what happend to your phone, but if you really screw it badly: power down the phone, then hold the volume up key, then power up the phone while holding the volume up key, this will start you in RSD mode. Find an SBF and flash that SBF to your phone in RSD Lite. Should be good as new...
naven.. i tried that too.. it froze up as well.
SO throwing it across the yard fixes bricks? Wow I like that idea
Shhhh If Mine Bricks I'm Building A Chimney.
Starting rsd protocol is what u need the screen to say in order to sbf ur phone

this is how we fix russian space station *whack*!
call me a noob, but i thought that Odin was taking too long (45 mins)(tried to switch from CM7 to stock firmware) and was stuck, so i closed out and turned off my phone by taking out the battery (idiot, i know) and now my phone wont turn on, and ive tried taking out the battery, pressing a number of button combos, and the people at radioshack didnt help (big suprise). any ideas?
Try holding the power button alone, for like 15 or more seconds.
Not sure beyond that....
didnt help...what i think the problem is that i dont have a firmware on my phone to boot it from...
You need enter download mode. It's not clear from your post if you tried to enter download mode or not. Can you get into download mode? Do you have a jig?
Btw, 45 minutes was definitely too long for Odin, so there probably wasn't any thing else you could have done.
no, i cannot get into download mode, and i do not have a jig. would that fix the problem completely?
Unsure - seems like somehow you killed your bootloader, not sure how since no return-to-stock package has bootloaders.
You should be able to get into download mode by this method: With the phone powered off, plug in the usb cable while holding the vol up + vol down buttons (but not the power button). When the warning screen appears, press Volume up to continue into download mode.
The jig is just another way to get into download mode, and certainly worth a try if you have one or can borrow one. With the phone powered off, plug in the jig, and the phone will immediately go into download mode.
You must have enough charge on the battery for the phone to turn on.
If the battery has charge, and you are unable to get into download mode by any method, and if you are unable to get any signs of life from your phone in any way, then as Entropy said, you may have damaged bootloaders.
The only way to damage one of the bootloaders, as far as I know, is for Odin to be interrupted while it is flashing the bootloader. So this begs the question, what exactly were you trying to flash that didn't complete in 45 minutes?
If your phone is truely hard bricked, the only way to recover it is to send it to a professional like connexion2005 of Mobile Tech Videos who can use jtag to reset the bootloaders.
Oh oh, I feel bad for the OP.

He should be able to clear it with a jig, but no one can guarantee that this will work. I have seen it fix this issue before though.

No one claims it's unbrickable - just that it's damned hard to brick.
I'm still curious what he was trying to flash - I have NEVER heard of anyone hardbricking their devices unless:
1) They screwed with bootloaders - which is why I have included gigantic red warnings with anything I post that includes a bootloader
2) They flashed something not intended for the device

If the bootloader somehow got corrupted (like crawly and Entrophy mentioned) then a jig won't do any good, I think.
It's good that some guru can access and reprogram the bootloader via JTAG.
I keep fingers crossed for OP.

Personal experience here. Flashed a one click for a captivate and bricked it a year ago. Went through everything, reported a success, and even sent reboot command to phone when it was done. 'Rebooted' to a black screen. For the better part of a week I tried everything, and I mean everything. Just unbricked last night/this morning with the 'unbrickable mod'. Wow micro soldering.
What led up to this was flashing a friends captivate with another one click odin package. Bricked it too (really need to quit doing that) but I think a usb jig might have worked on that one, but didn't have one with me. After doing the unbrickable mod to the phone that sat for over a year, I flashed it with the same package that just bricked the second captivate, and it worked fine. I did nothing different. I'm very patient in doing things the right way. Same steps, same software, same computer, no brick.

Is getting Samsung Tech support an option, if everything else fails, then you dont have anything to lose, they support by phone and was pleseantly suprised with their help.
AdamOutler is willing to work on bringing the unbrickable mod to the i777. All he needs is an i777, bricked or not. If anyone has one that is bricked, by all means send it to him. He said not only will he
unbrick it using jtag, he'll attempt to do the unbrickable mod to it.
I'd be willing to donate to him and anybody who helps make it possible by sending him their phone.

Alright So I bought this Atrix for 50 bucks. Guy was having problems and coulnt figure it out. Its rooted and unlocked. When I plug the charger into it (the stock wall charger. not to the computer) it goes to the M boot screen. I can't get to any other screen to come up. When I hold the volume buttons down, I get "Cant start RSD Battery too low to flash". also, When I plug it in, The green LED lights up for a second then turns off as it goes to the Motorola screen. I can't turn it on either with just the battery. any Ideas?

I had this problem just last night. I searched around xda and the internet, and came upon this: http://www.atrixforums.com/forum/mo...e-rsd-lite-flash-sbf-file-motorola-atrix.html
Give it a shot. If it doesn't turn on now, what's the worse that'll happen by trying this?
Just charge the battery and flash a SBF with RSDLite.
Make sure that you don't downgrade the ROM. Read sticky for more info about hardbricking risks.

What SBF file do I need? Im not sure what is on the phone and I dont wanna Brick it if I can avoid it.
Go the latest SBF(the latest being 2.3.6/4.5.141 if you have an ATT atrix. Otherwise a full list of SBF files are here http://www.filefactory.com/f/89f588286a560e39/ ). Bricking occured when downgrading, so long as you upgrade or stay the same you should be fine.

Thanks, admin?
I bit the bullet and did it. All was going good till my cat jumped on my computer desk and then failed saying something about switching to BP or something along those lines. Now I cant get the phone is RSD again
Was your battery charged enough? Sometimes if your battery is low it won't complete the flash.
What directory is your sbf file located at? Sometimes it won't work unless you put it directly in the C:\ drive.
Have you got the latest RSDlite?
What SBF did you flash?
Did you use the usb ports at the back of the pc?
If you can't get it in RSD again then I suggest giving it a charge for an hour or so and trying again later. Also check the md5 of the sbf file to check that the file is correct. Sometimes the 'Switch phone to BP Pass through mode' can be fixed just from trying a different usb port or computer.

congratulations your mobile device is sucessfully bricked.
mine did[(do)will] the same, you have to take it to the assistance, i know what must be done, the assistance guys told me, but it can only be done by them.
so, you better hope you dont have the same problem as mine. [but if you got the error talking about didnt booting radio////failed to switch to BP(or some s**t like that) you probably have it, and only motorola can fix it.]
Edit: we know is the wrong section but only modetators can complain/report/warn. if we are not, lets just help the poor dude while the problem is unsolved.

Have you googled the error? If you have, you'd find that it is a common error and I haven't seen any cases where they didn't eventually get fixed. OP just needs to get back in to RSD and have another go. The guys from 'assistance' don't know what they're doing, they'll take any reason to say that 'only motorola can fix it' because they don't know any better.

I wold haVE GOOGLED IT BUT RSD lite closed on me. I would get back into RSD but I can't get the phone back into it. I power on and hold the volume buttons and it doesnt do anything.
And also now while its stuck on the Motorola boot screen, Unlocked is missing from the corner like it use to be there.
Well after just fidiling around with it, it just started working. After about 45 minutes of just sitting there on the motorola screen, it booted up. Now its time to set it up all the way and put CM7 on it im guess.
I wasn't talking to you about googling the error, I was talking to the guy who had said that your phone was bricked when clearly it wasn't. The error would have been a fail at 'Switching Device to BP Pass Through' stage which does not mean you're device is bricked.
Anyway, good to see you fixed it. And the unlocked text goes away when you flash an SBF, that's normal. Get cm10 on it
I went back through and kind of got that after the fact haha. Im glad I got it fixed also too. Not I can get rid of the dreaded Iphone 4 :\ and be back where I belong. Is there a stable CM10 for it? I havent gotten to look around much yet since I was fixing the main problem.
I just got a galaxy note for my galaxy nexus last night (traded) and I took it home and install goomanager and downloaded a rom that was "compatible" it saved to the directory that goomanager puts it in so I rebooted into CWMR and cleared cache / data etc then proceeded to install zip from SD Card. it started by saying flashing kernel 4% or whatever and then came back with an error. me being as bright as I am recently...I fixed permissions and rebooted thinking that it would at least let me back into recovery.
I now have a "Dead" note sitting on the floor infinitely "charging" so to speak its just plugged into the wall, Will not boot. Is there a way I can at least get it into Download mode? Hell stick a magnet on it to erase everything even?
I don't need another paper weight..I have an iPhone for that.
Can you boot into download? If so, use Odin to flash the correct kernel.
Can you boot into recovery? If so, flash the correct kernel.
If you can't do either one, your phone is bricked and you will need to send it for a repair. $50 and one week later you will have your phone back with stock 4.0.4 ICS rom. Its called a JTAG service, from www.mobiletechvideos.com. Many note user have gone there, from just this thing.
The jig that works with other phones 99% of the time won't work with the note.
Don't trust CWR. Get your roms from our developers.
Jig 99% Of the time won't work... you made that statistic up. If button combos aren't working it's definitely worth a shot, resistors are super cheap, especially compared to jtag which doesn't sound needed here yet.
And what do you mean. "Don't trust cwr get your roms from the devs here"?
That is a recovery... he didn't download anything with it, he used goomanager.
And even if he downloaded it from here...he would've flashed it in cwm... xda isn't a custom recovery...
So you tried holding the down volume button+ power to get it into download? Flashing a kernel will not remove your recovery/download mode unless you flashed a Rom not made for your device that installed something on said partition(s).
As for the jig...don't know statistics, but I am a one percenter. Worth a shot imo.

Volume down and power, then when prompted volume up, for download mode.
And I'm also a "1% er" and my jig isn't homemade. Josh from mobile tech gave me one of his he sells on the site.
As nun said, the combos should work, they are in the bootloaders, flashing a kernel won't effect those unless says kernel is for a different device, then you wouldn't get a single thing outta the device at all, no charging screen, no bootloop. Nothing. Whatsoever.

Right amigo 99% + 1% = 100%. You and Nunhugger are the only ones who said a jig worked for them. So actually its way higher than 99%. . . But you guys are ninjas. Your phone would probably reboot if you just told it to. I just wanted to kill the eventual jig question early.
And my response about CWR was because it sounded like he used the old app Rom Manager to see what was available. Clearly it was wrong so I told him not to trust it, and put in a plug for our developers.
When an update is released the forum gets slammed with complaints about bad flashes of incorrect kernels, and I have seen several members heal their phone by flashing the correct kernel. I just figured he was not accustomed to the button combos of the note and would get to that eventually. But if it was for the wrong device I wanted him to get his mind around the $50 and week wait.
Sheesh. . . decaf.
Well seeing that I can't Get into either mode and no button combos will work, I am assuming I need the JTAG. I figured an app like GooManager would have at least gave me the right roms for my device. it did say i717 but that could just be my memory playing tricks on me.
Man, I'm real sorry. But the JTAG service has been used by many, and with lots of positive comments. Good luck.
hahah thats okay, I mean its a great phone, definately not worth keeping in a draw collecting dust so I will go with the JTAG service. Thanks Guys!
You still have signs of life, it shows the charging animation, therefore your phone isn't bricked.
Do some searching on making a jig, I personally think it's well worth a try.
You could very well fix your phone for under $10 and have the satisfaction of accomplishing this yourself And have the know how to do it again...
It doesn't have the charging animation. just a dead black screen.
Then why did you say this?:

That's more than a little misleading...
Will not boot...could mean many things.
From a easily fixed bootloop down to a brick.
Saying it was infinitely charging made it sound less severe.
if it weren't for that line, I wouldn't have bothered to tell you to use a jig.
JTAG it is
cris, why do you need to experiment with finding the proper resistance? Why should there be any variability in that circuit? Perhaps that is why some users have used up as many as six usb port replacement parts.
By the way, my 99% statistic is, like my entire post, just my opinion, and strictly a figure of speech. If it were a fact I was quoting I would have included a footnote. Remember those painful things? Do we have to include disclaimers for any figure we use? Sorry to mislead anyone!
I said "dead" because its not necessarily dead because a JTAG thing can fix it..and I said "charging" because to the normal person who didn't know anything was wrong with said device it would look like it was charging. But anyhow. I'm sending the phone out this week. I just don't understand why all the phones can't be as open as the devices straight from google.
You're phone is dead.
JTAG is akin to zombie, the phone needs disassembled and a special rig is needed to hook to the motherboard and flash EVERYTHING back to the nand at the prebootloader level.
The I717 is pretty much just as open as a nexus as far as easily modified and rooted...
No locked bootloader even which nexus have though it's a single line in a terminal to unlock, that step isn't needed on this device.
Only thing that isn't as open is the hardware drivers.
You may have flashed an incompatible kernel for a DIFFERENT device... and that on any phone will brick you.
And ranger not sure if it's the circuits within the phones that vary from device to device, ands seem to require a more specific voltage across those pins to trigger download mode
Or, if It's the resistors that are the variable. They are only rated within a certain +/- tolerance the cheaper ones having a larger margin of error.
And lol yes I am a ninja, but I didn't do anything special to my jig at all, I got mine from mobiletechvideos, funny enough it's worked on 4 captivates, a vibrant, 2 note 1s, and an s3, but didn't work on an s2 I was fixing.
the one I got from Goomanager was probably for the i700 which shouldn't even be able to happen.
They have video proof of them fixing phones with dead black screens from exactly what happened to mine using the JTAG Method. As far as I am concerned this thread can be closed cause I got the answer to my question.
the JTAG rewrites basically everything anyways so it is being sent out later this week. Till then I'll use a blackberry or something...Take care guys hopefully next time you see me post it will be to help someone and not asking for help
You'll be up and running by next weekend. By then, lots of exciting development will be happening on the released rom.
I doubt it, I live in Canada and have to send it to the states. It probably be closer to the weekend. Unless I expedite everything.
Hey all, I'm new here and to Android phones in general.
I just picked up a Photon, not the Q, from a friend who had flashed it to Cricket. I'm looking to put it back to Sprint and replace the Duramax I have, but I'm not smart enough in phone tech to do it. I read somewhere that Motorola made it almost impossible to change PRLs and all that, and everytime I do the ##PRL# deal the screen shuts down for a split second and then pops back up the dialer screen, that happens with a few different ##codes. I've found a few different posts about how to do it, though pretty much all of them are for EVOs, but nothing in it seems to work for me, plus they assume one has the general know how already to do it. I'm a pretty quick learner and don't mind spending time getting to know different systems, so I was wondering if anyone could give me any extra info or links that could set me in the right direction. I appreciate your patience in this, I just want a better phone...
I'm looking through everything about flashing and I'm losing heart pretty quick. I was in the marines for four years and I though they had a lot of acronyms, holy crap... I'm about to call it quits and toss the phone unless there really is an easier-to-understand way of doing it. I don't care about rooting it or anything, I just want a smartphone that works with Sprint...

I would say don't give up. I think it's quite simple.
Go here and read the last item in the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20331623&postcount=6
The pack below made by loki should have everything you need to flash an sbf file in rsdlite. I have never gone back to stock, but I did this process when I unlocked and rooted.
http://billionuploads.com/users/LokifishMarz/31/SBF's & Root-Unlock
You may want to confirm some of this with someone more experienced, but usually if you break something, it can be fixed.
I really really appreciate your response and suggestions knG333.
I tried what was posted, flashing the "1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_5-CM-release-keys-signed-Sprint-US.sbf" file through RSD Lite a couple of times, but each time it would tell me there was an error flashing it. Do you know if, besides RSD mode, the phone has to have any other settings on it? Like, does debugging have to be on or anything?
Please forgive my ignorance in this, we all started from somewhere, right?

Yeah, I rebooted it manually and nothing seemed to have changed. Plus it said it failed during the flashing stage, not during the final rebooting stage, it didn't even get to the rebooting stage.
When the phone shows up in RSD Lite, is the program supposed to show all the details of the phone like IMEI and such? The phone is being recognized by the program, but only the model number is coming up, all other fields for the phone are saying N/A. Am I supposed to put the phone in any specific mode before hooking it up to RSD Lite besides RSD mode from the boot screen?
My previous distress has turned into stubborn perseverence, I'm going to get this thing fixed
