[Q] Using the whole homescreen - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Is there a way for me to use the lower portion of my homescreen(s), the section normally reserved for tray items, for random normal shortcuts and widgets? I am currently running .14 with ADW.

You should be able to hide the dock just fine. Though I have adw ex so not sure about regular adw.

I remember someone saying you had to be rooted to do that but don't hold me to it.

Apologies, I too am running ADW Ex, on a rooted .14.
Back to searching ;p

When honeybar is updated to work on ICS it will minimize the taskbar.

But the honeybar dev has stated it probably won't be updated for ics!

That's too bad, because I was looking at that too ;/

Galaxy Tab Launcher working on Nook Color

So, I've been looking for a better tablet launcher for the nook color. LauncherPro doesn't cut, and I've never been a fan of ADW and its variants. So, I searched for the Galaxy Tab Launcher, and I found one that this link: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805264)
I am running CM7.0.3, and it works just fine. I think there needs to be some value editing to make the 5x5 grid spread across the whole screen and to make the app drawer take advantage of the whole screen. Also, it force closes when you select any of the dock icons. So, it needs some help, but it works well. I haven't dived into the APK yet, but I'm sure there are ways to make it take advantage of the whole screen, considering the Galaxy Tab and the nook are the same resolution.
I prefer Zeam, it works well and is really lightweight.
Zeam is laggy as hell on my nook. How did get you get the app drawer to go faster than a snail stuck in molasses in January. I can't take the lag of zeam.

I think you're the first person I've ever seen post that Zeam is laggy. It's been faster than any other launcher for me, on both my HTC Aria and on my Nook. I've paid for both ADW EX and LP Plus, but don't use either since Zeam just runs so much smoother.
Yeah, it's buttery smooth on my 528mhz Touch Pro2 running a patched together froyo build off an SD card.

Zeam is nice, but the app drawer is a pain. Scrolls one way but lags and gets stuck.
Other than that, speedy.
Thanks!
Yea.. on the home screens its nice... app drawer is horrid. Lpp is smooth as silk for me. Interesting.

See, I normally use LPP, but the home screen for me on my NC is bad. Scrolling works fantastic, but loading it and the widgets (about 4-5) is like watching a 3 year old draw the screen.
For now, Zeam, waiting for better.
Zeam is a bit of a clunky program for me... I am using ADW EX and have no problems. It is very smooth and fast.
Go Launcher Ex is pretty good. Themes, customizable icons, speedy app drawer.
I enjoyed ADW but clicking any of the apps on the dock bar caused them to disappear (because it kept thinking I was trying to remove them) or for the dock bar itself to disappear (because it thought I was trying to hide it). I used to keep apps on the desktop just so I could repopulate the dock bar as the apps disappeared, then I gave up and started using Zeam.

Go Launcher is great, but the display grid dimension (5x5) is too low for a tablet...
I'm using it on my nexus one and I love it but on a tablet I would like a more concentrated layout...

Same here. I've always been surprised when people complain about ADW being slow. For me it's quick and as smooth as glass. And I love the 3-D home screen flipping animations. ADW EX and Fancy Widgets Pro really make for a nice environment, IMHO.
Is there a way to put a stock Froyo or Gingerbread launcher?
Still rocking the Incredible with the XDA Premium App.

Have you tried locking the launcher in memory? LPP has the option in it's preferences also CM7 has the option in the the settings... Worth a shot, works great for me...

Nova Launcher works great on Prime!

For all you all, Nova Launcher does in fact work great with the Prime tablet. Just set the home screen grid to 10 columns by 7 rows for proper sized layouts, and i would stick to the cube or none transition.
but it does work great! just so everyone knows. (not a fan of adw, personally)
i've been using it as well, and i agree it works great, super fast and much cleaner looking than adw imo.
i've been using a 10x8 layout personally.
I use Nova too. I actually hadn't gotten around to changing the layout because I like my screen bare. But I'll have to try that. So far I like it the best, pretty quick.
Dock not showing up
Am I doing something wrong? I can't figure out why the dock isn't showing up. Anyone run into this problem?
why do you say it works great?
the icon labels doesnt show in landscape mode, the card stack transition is messed up. hardly can say working great...
however i do agree it has great potential and worth keeping an eye out for.
it has some issues, but it runs very fast and doesn't have any issues that are showstopping.
I really like it! thanks for this post!

Same here!!! Is hidden because of the tablet config???
-------------------------------------------------------------
This is due to the device type... Tablets = No dock by default. This may change with future releases of the Nova launcher.

The icon labels only show up when there is enough room for them, I've got my desktop grid set to 7 Rows and 8 Columns and they show up fine. If you add anymore rows, the labels dissappear.
The only problem I have with Nova is that the wallpaper is zoomed regardless of how I crop it. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, I also had this problem with ADW launcher EX.
EDIT: you can use "PicSpeed HD Wallpapers" from the market to set the wallpaper correctly.

it has to do more with how HC/ICS handle wallpapers over the launcher, i use the multipicture lwp and it sets them properly.
ok guys... seriously.
NovaLauncher is a modified stock launcher. notice you don't have a dock on your stock launcher on your ICS tablet. well.. that's why you don't have one in NL either. tablet's don't have launchers unless you get a 3rd party launcher that forces one on a tablet, like adw. even launcher pro does it but not well.
secondly i can say that it works great because it does. don't use the card transition. the icons labels DO appear in landscape, just depends on how many ROW you are using in your grid.
why don't you do some investigating and trying things out before flaming the app. it does have great potential, but it also works great NOW!. it's better than the stock launcher, and personally i dislike ADW. so cada loco con su tema.

You won't find it on the marketplace. Grab it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389071. Just download and install the NovaLauncher_beta.apk that's all you need. It quite good. Oh one quick hint... Once you installed use Titanium Backup to convert the app into a system app, that way the widget will preview properly as your ICS stock launcher.
By the way... is in fact the best launcher for ICS so far...
Nope Apex Lauchher is better ^

the solution i've discovered for wallpapers is that it must be at least the 1920x1408 for a tablet. doesn't matter which app you use

[Launcher] NOVA launcher Prime

Just letting y'all know NOVA launcher is out of it's beta stage and is on the market now in the free version and prime. I highly suggest purchasing the prime version, even though it is $4.00, it comes with a lot of cool settings.
>>>updated to 1.0.2
added on prime:
gestures
swipes
hide apps
additional scroll effects
[Nova Launcher | Nova Launcher Prime]
Screenshots would be nice
click on the links... they're links to the market.
The launcher is great but it doesn't have an option to change the grid size in your app drawer, only in the desktop. I wanted to have 5 colums in my app drawer but there's no option to change it.
well remember it is at the 1.0 stage and I'm sure they're going to add more features soon...
This launcher is pretty great! been using it with Turls ics kang. I will purchase to support your efforts.....Thank you!
Question for ya though. Is thier any way to be able to turn the Nav bar on and off? It doesn't show up on the atrix, but it would be wonderful if you could turn it on when using the lapdock. I know I'm probably asking for a miracle here, but thought I would ask....Thanks!!
lol sorry I'm not a dev. on this launcher... simply passing the word on...

wrong post
bump .
I wish this was available on pre-ICS. It looks slick, but I guess part of that is due to ICS.
I got a little deny happy with SuperUser when I installed NOVA. Turns out it needs SU for adding the widgets to the drawer. I had to completely reinstall to get it working...

yeah, that's written in the app description on the market.
Permissions:
Root/Superuser: Widgets-in-drawer with previews is require Root due to Android framework limitations. Widgets will be displays in a list like Android 2.x if root is unavailable or denied.
INTERNET/ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE/ACCESS_WIFI_STATE: Optional & Anonymous error/usage reporting.
CALL_PHONE: Only used if you place a direct-dial shortcut on the homescreen.
Wallpaper/Vibrate/Status Bar : Standard Launcher functions
BIND_APPWIDGET: Only if installed as a system app or root. Required for adding widgets from app drawer.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Backup/restore and beta updates
quick question:
is there a way for nova launcher to restrict or lock homescreen items to avoid being moved or deleted?ofar i havent seen any provision for that feature yet.
im on resurrection 9.4 btw and loving the nova launcher so far.
yea I would love to see that as a option too... there is a website (http://feedback.novalauncher.com/forums/145180-nova-feature-requests) you can request features, and I believe this is one of them...
can you add an option to hide widgets in the drawer?
I bought it and is super!!!Using it on TURL ICS9 powered Atrix. It was my first app bought from Market
Sorry for bad English

ICS Widgets? Help please

I'm terribly sorry to be of bother to anyone and I'm sorry if this has been answered before.
Back on GingerBread all I had to do was hold down the home screen and a menu would pop up that allowed me to create widgets. ICS no longer has that feature.
If you go into the apps menu up at the top there is a tab for widgets, but none of them are the ones I want.
I need two widgets, one that toggles on and off airplane mode and one that toggles on and off GPS settings. I found with GingerBread that only having GPS settings on when I needed them doubled my battery life, so I want to do that with ICS, too.
Nevermind, I figured it out.
If you download new widgets they might not show up on the list until you reboot.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
Is it possible to change the size of the widgets? I'm using the newest EU ICS Leak. Couldn't find anything about it.

You can also kill the 'Home' process from the running tasks. There were other two ways in which I got this to work but I forgot.

Not all widgets are resizable. If it is however resizable, long-press on a widget that's already on the home screen and the sides will receive a resize decoration that you can drag.

Just one homescreen in Sense?

Is there a mod that would let me just have one homescreen when using Sense as my launcher?
I know I can do it with other launchers like Launcher Pro (which I have used 99% of the time on my OG Evo). I've seen mods/tweaks that let you change the # of homescreens but the minimum I've seen is 3.
I really prefer having just one homescreen and I'd like to see that happen in Sense. I've been poking and searching around but I haven't stumbled on anything yet.

If you press home button again from the main screen to the view with all your screens, you can hold down each and drag it up to the X and remove them.
I feel like such a noob haha. Ok down to one homescreen now, but can I disable the scrolling? It doesn't make sense (lol) to be able to scroll the screen to the same homescreen over and over.

Don't know how/if you can do that.
Mikeys rom has the spinning top mode removed. Isnt there an option in leedroid tweaks to disable it? Havent used sense in a long ass time so i dont remember. There should be other roms with it removed.
leedroid tweeks does not appear to have any settings like this.

MidnightRom 1.2.7
I'm actually on an Evo V with Virgin Mobile, but it's the same phone as the 3D.
It's weird that I'm even trying to do this. I WAS using LauncherPro which has always been my preferred launcher. I'm not sure if it's a problem with this rom when using LP or what, but I've noticed that frequently enough when I would return to the homescreen from an app that there would be a black bar the size of the status bar right underneath the status bar, like blank space. It would stay there until I did something like go to the app drawer and then return home.
It doesn't seem to occur when using Sense, so I'm seeing if I can tweak Sense to my liking.
Same deal for me using LP.
It hasn't been updated since March. Hopefully it hasn't been abandoned.
sudo passwd root
Oh well it's at least good to know it's not just happening to me. I thought maybe there was something off in this rom that might be causing the problem, but looks like it could be an issue with LP if you experience it too.
Try adw. I personally recommend nova or apex though. Lp was my go to when i had a hero. Havent used lp in almost a year now.
Yeah it's a LP bug. Does it real bad if you use the google search widgit. I've tried every launcher out there, and LP is still my favorite. So, hopefully it will get an update.
