I put the TeamHackSung ICS 6.5 rom on my Fascinate, and have found that if I dial *228, once the call connects I'm left without a dial pad...and thus can't access the activation process.
Anyone else notice this, or is it just me?
tap the home key, phone icon, return to call in progress, then the dial pad icon. its a known glitch on ics roms.
Didn't work. After pressing home and then the phone icon, I tried both "Return to call in progress" and "Use touch tone keypad", but both just returned me to the call without a dial pad nor button to bring it up.
actually dont hit return to call in progress, just select use touchtone keypad...you might have to do it twice.

No, still not getting it. After hitting home and then the phone button, my screen shows three choices: Use touch tone keypad, Return to call in progress, and Add call. The first two just return me to the keypad-less call in progress. "Add call" does in fact give me a keypad, but the tones it generates are not heard by the call in progress. I tried hitting "1" and then the call button from this point, but it just went back to my home screen. I then had to hit the phone button, either of the first two options to get back to the activation call, and then the "Back" button to hang up.
If I don't hang up in time, my phone gets completely deactivated...no phone or 3G capability, meaning that I can't even dial #228, never mind pressing "1" after dialing it, but fortunately rebooting the phone restored the activation.
I've never been able to use *228 on any MTD rom. It does all the same stuff you mentioned. So long as your connection is working, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks, I feel reassured. Hopefully *228 activation won't ever be needed again.
Yeah but Option 2 from *228 is a good thing. You have two options, but I'm only going to bring up one since it's the easiest.
*22890 ---> This will program/activate your phone.
*22891 ---> This will update your roaming capabilities.
No need to hit other buttons after dialing. Let it finish, and reboot your phone.
Excellent!

You can always do *228,,,,,2 The commas are pauses. The screen will say that the updated roaming was not successful, but the message says it is. You can also replace the 2 with a 1 to do activation (however it's not needed if you have data as others have suggested).

I did it, I got it to work.

I used this way by setting the (*228,,,,1,,,555-555-5555#,,,,5555#) all of the numbers I needed to push, I made into a contact. Then I just pushed the contact.

Did you see my post on the first page, it seems easier.
I did see your post, but that option doesn't work for my phone for whatever reason.

for some reason i cant dial 1 for voicemail, knowing me i probably hit something and changed a setting. how can i make it work again?
thanks
I would recommend you turn on 1's for all calls not just voicemail. Go to Start -> Settings -> Phone -> Services Tab. Scroll down to Automatic Prepend and press Get Settings. Enable Automatic Prepend for a 1 in front of all of your outgoing calls.
If you only want to do it for voice mail, go to Start -> Settings -> Phone. The first entry is the number to call for voicemail. Throw a "1" in there.
He's not talking about dialing a 1 before the number, he's talking about holding down the 1 key to access voicemail. Not sure what the issue is, works fine for me. What dialer are you using?

Ahhh. I'll be quiet now.
the stock dialer with 3.35
I got the "2" working for voice mail but would be nice to have the 1 back, kinda used to it. Business is picking up alot and i need my voice mail waaaaaaa.
thanks gc, u2 ande
Go into Settings->Phone. What does it say next to Voicemail:
has my phone number......should i put a "1" in there? by itself?
Are you on Sprint or Verizon?
sprint.....
2 Things...
1. Is your phone number in this format xxx-xxx-xxxx or this format xxxxxxxxxx?
2. When you open the dialer and click Menu->Speed Dial, what's in there?
the "2" that I put in there earlier that dials my voice mail.
dosent have the option to use the "1" available is 3-99. the "1" must be set aside for the voice mail but it must have left town.
Did you install the sprint carrier cab? If so, did you install the new one that was updated a few days ago?
No still on 3.35
Wait you're using the 3.35 stock rom?
Yes sir, I thought i mentioned it earlier, sorry if i didnt.
And it was there working, and then suddenly just disappeared? Or it never worked?
it worked before and it just quit working one day. I brutally dropped my phone and dislodged the vibrate thing off the mainboard (made my skin cringe) but the phone works great still with the exception of the vibrate thing of course.
I dont know if dropping it is when it stopped working or not
Have you tried a hard reset?
If i do that i will update to the new rom, I just hate reloading everything
In the registry, navigate to "HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA\VoicemailIcon"
What values do you have under that key?
Hi,
Running GSB 1.9 on my Eris.
Starting today, my phone has been switching between 3G and 1X, and seems to stay on 1X more.
I've seen posts saying that I should update the PRL by dialing *228 opt 2. Problem though. After dialing *228, I never get the option to open up the keypad to enter option 2. All I get is a red screen with "Activate your phone" at the top, with a note "Please wait while your phone is being programmed." There is a status bar under this note, a "Speaker" button and "Back" button at the bottom. No phone buttons work on this except for the "Home" and "Back" button.
As I'm typing this, I called once more. After waiting on hold, it automatically went into programming and gave me a note that it may take 15 minutes to work.
Nothing's worked yet.
Any help?
For all of the non-HTC based ROMs (Froyo and GB in particular), if you long-press on menu, it should pop up the keyboard. From there you can change to the numeric entry and press 2 (or 1 if you want to activate the phone.)
Since I can't remember the last time I dialed *228, I decided to give it try.
And long pressing on menu worked as doogald said.
Thanks
You can also insert two 2 second pauses followed by 2 (for roaming update) from the dialer before hitting send.
Curious, did reprogramming help the switching from 1x to 3g?

or dial *22899 and that will do the same as selecting option 2 when dialing *228

thanks. i did not know this. much easier than long pressing menu, sometimes it doesnt recognize the numbers properly.
Did *228 fix the 3g 1x problem for you? It did not for me, but flashing a newer radio seemed to do the trick.

Stay on the line after calling someone. Sprint will pick up. Tell them you have error code 16, give them a second number to call you back on (you have to turn your phone off.). They'll push something. Turn your phone back on, make a call and you're done.

Get on Sprint.com/chat, and make a request for exactly this: CHLR refresh. It solved my SMS Error Cause Code: 97, & Error Class: 2. I was at it for hours until thirty minutes ago just on this SMS issue.
My phone doesn't receive calls when I've used data on my phone, like launching gmail. I have to make an outgoing call or reboot to get calls to come thu. Once I use data again, calls won't come thru. Even a factory reset hasn't resolved the issue. Any idea?
It seems my phone doesn't switch back to voice once I've used data unless I make an outgoing call or reboot.
Sprint has been no help on this issue.
Thanks in advance.

"The steps are as follows: using your phone dial pad dial ##3282#
Select edit mode and enter you device's msl code. Go to Data Profile then press menu and choose 'restore". Your phone will reboot and reprovision upon reboot."
sorry sorry it slipped my mind to list the steps, the neighbors do this rodeo crap on the weekends but once a month they do one whole week and I get no sleep. its really been screwing with me
if you call sprint and ask for it they technically have to give it to you. or you can use cdma workshop

Sometimes updating your profile can leave things screwed up, did you update your profile before the issues started? I had a similar problem once after updating my profile, called cs and immediately asked them to escalate the issue but the lady on the other end would not, she pushed 4 profiles before giving up and escalating my call. If you can always escalate the call, 1st tier reps are peons

I have an issue and I'm not sure if it's with LG or Android. I'm on stock ROM, stock dialer, Nova Launcher, rooted and BL unlocked. I have Magisk Manager, but no Xposed installed. Whenever I get an incoming call, the entire screen is taken over by the notification. I can't pull down from the top, go home, go back etc. All I can do is deal with the call. If I'm using the device, it's a major pain when a SPAM call comes in and I can't do anything about it. In Settings > Network > Call > More > Alert "Show voice calls while in an app" is set to Pop-up, but it's not doing that. It's full screen and intrusive. Strangely the option for "Floating Bar' is greyed out.
I also noticed that there was no vibration when the call came in, despite setting it to do that. Does anyone have an answer??

For me on that firmware, when a call comes in I hit the volume down button and it silences it. I can then reject it completely or do other things while it goes to voicemail.

I can't do anything other than Answer, Reject With Message, or Reject. Though I am able to silence with the volume key, I can't press home or swipe on from any edge. It's baffling.
Weird though, I just tried again and for some reason it's back to normal. I also have Mr Number installed to counteract SPAM calls which also popped up. All I did was reject the call the first time and it was back to normal. Fixed?
Nope, there's something borked here, it did it again. I can't control my phone when receiving an incoming call apparently!

You said Floating Bar was greyed out. Did you debloat any apps? Maybe something you removed is causing issues?

I only had YouTube Vanced and Volume Steps Plus installed. I disabled them and rebooted but the problem persisted. Interestingly, The screen takeover is only when the screen is off. If it's sitting on my desk and I receive a call, I only have those 3 options. Maybe because it was screen off locked? If I'm using the phone unlocked and a call comes in, then it works normally.

Yeah sounds really confusing. Are you using Volume Steps Plus from Magisk or Xposed? I tried the Magisk one before but it doesn't work and the Xposed one seems to be years outdated so I figured a freshly updated one on Magisk would be the only one worth trying.

I wanted to revive this thread as it's truly annoying still. If the phone is off and I receive a call, I must deal with the call and can't use the phone at all. Not sure if the launcher (Nova) is having a play in this, but would reflashing 20g possibly do something?
It's probably like you said, because the phone is locked.

Everybody else seems to be able to do it. Additionally, it won't unlock when the call is incoming, I'm forced to deal with the call and can't use other apps.
