Hello,
first of all im using MiniCM7 2.1.9 with nAa-Kernel 11. I am on a "clean" install, meaning i made a factory reset before installing. But now i am having a strange issue:
Apps like Battery Indicator dont start up after rebooting, same with 3G watch dog. Reinstalling the apps does not solve the problem.
Any ideas? I dont want to reflash all again, because i am using quiet a lot of apps which i need and it would be really annoying to reinstall all of them.
EDIT: oh yeah. and im using an X10 Mini Pro, but i dont think this really matters, since this seems software related.
Anyone got any idea?

Hi, my syster have Samsung Ace 5830 and she told me that she have random reboots on her phone ( 2-3 times a week ). She is with Android version 2.2 , no root....all stock ! She have only installed Skype,Stop Skype and batteryminder ! Do you have the same problem? What can she do ? Thanks.
Does she have random reboot or SOD (sleep of death) and she has to reboot her phone after ?
She have to enter a PIN code... I thing it is random reboot

Well, I think you don't have many options.
1. Maybe she has an issue with batteryminder so she has to uninstall it. I'm a skype user too but i don't use "stop skype" to close it.
2. Try to flash her phone with a new stock ROM ?
3. Or send her phone back to her seller ?
It's really hard to find what the issue is when you just have some clue and no phone in your hand. :/

I had the same problem with my bro's ace.. tried factory reset, rooting.. unrooting.. but nothing helped.. but now have installed the new rom 2.3.4.. and the problem is gone.. been almost 2 days now without a restart... and battery life also seems to be far more better than stock 2.2.1
hope this helps..
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I had these problems as well.
I was on a build of CM9 and this happened non stop all day.
I'm now using stocklite 7.1 which I flashed yesterday. And since then it has restarted on its own every few hours.
I don't know what it is, but now I'm thinking it might be a certain combination of apps that are causing the crashes. I have ES task manager, and that me interfering with the stock task manager that causes the crashes.

To begin with I don't think that is the cause and you shouldn't kill apps frequently using task manager, maybe you could try out some ram scripts (like v6 super charger). Also, the app "titanium backup" is able to freeze apps, thus leaving it installed but inactive (for the other task manager).
CM9 is not that stable from my experience so I can't really conclude anything there.
But as for the stocklite (which I assume is based on stock firmware) might have the SOD(sleep of death) issue, usually caused by having the Wifi connecting/reconnecting or when it tries to find spots. If you always leave your wifi on, that might be the problem.
I am getting very frustrated with my phone. When I am texting my keyboard randomly inserts smiley faces. I have narrowed it down to when I press the Q on the keyboard. However it happens all the time and is really annoying. Anyone got any advice how I can fix this.
Are you able to switch to different keyboards and experience the same problem?
It only happens on the keyboard that comes on eclipse. The other one I try.. swype doesn't do it but I don't like the swype keyboard. Guess im gonna have to find another keyboard.
Well I just installed ics keyboard and it still happens this is annoying as hell.

Was the keyboard working successfully at one point and then all the sudden, stopped working as expected?
Before you go installing other apps, etc I'd suggest making a nandroid backup. That way if you do quite a bit to the phone before finding how to fix it, you can restore the phone to your current state and then apply the fix.
Once you make a backup, I'd suggest wiping the cache to see if something got stuck. It might not fix the issue at all but if it doesn't, you can restore from the backup anyway.
Also, is your sig correct, you're running Eclipse 1.2?
Well its been happening for a while now don't remember what caused it. I'm actually running 1.3 right now need to change that.
Actually I'm running ics keyboard and its not happening anymore. So hopefully it doesn't happen anymore.

Same here man... It is happening a lot less since I upgraded to the ICS keyboard. Might want to try that. However it still happens like once or twice a day. Better than 100.
Hello,
since a few days my Xperia S acts really weird. For example when typing right now it will freeze from time to time and i will have to wait 5 seconds to type.. Or when going back from an app to the Homescreen it will sometimes vibrate twice and open the taskmanager.. I already tried a factory reset but that doesnt help.. Any suggestions?

I have never seen this issue before, but i'm thinking in the lines of some kind of app that is using your cpu for the full 100% or so.
Does it perhaps occur after you have installed a specific app?
I'm not sure about this at all, but i'm just trying to eliminate all possibilities.
Ive installed 2 apps after the factory reset, XDA app and whatsapp.. :/
Those apps shouldn't really give any issues.
Are you running the stock GB/ICS firmware and a stock kernel as well?
yeah everything's on stock. nothing modifyed.
I think what you could try is to flash a stock GB/ICS firmware through the flashtool with a full data wipe and all that.
Perhaps it's useful to format the storage memory of your phone too, just to be sure.
Again, i'm not sure if any of this will work but it's worth a try.
If this doesn't help, i think it's best for you to return the handset to the shop.
suddenly my samsung galaxy s3 keeps freezing and I have to make a hard reset every time. I tried to make factory reset, or wipe factory reset, but the same problem.
what should I do?
are you on SDS-safe firmware?
Dude, instead of creating yet another post with this, you could have searched to quite easily find out your phone is halfway dead and should be sent back to samsung for repair as soon as possible. Make it safe to return if you messed with it (flash original stuff, reset counter, etc, read a bit if you don't know what to do, it's all over these forums) and just take it in.
Don't take this the wrong way but you'd think it's common sense to just return any product (not even phone related) that it's malfunctioning instead of asking what to do to random people in a third party forum

use the sds safe précautions to prevent freezing
Envoyé depuis mon GT-I9300 avec Tapatalk
And what are the sds safe precautions or where can I find it?
just search in the general section
Device:GT-I9300 32gb
I have the same problem, this seems to be firmware related to me, the phone works in safe mode but this is really crappy now. I don't think there should be a return unless it's the only fix. Will try and flash JB and update the post.
Edit: Is that sds the Sudden death thing. I tried searching but no results come up. I am a new comer to Samsung as their devices sucked for ages and they still seem to do. Please can some one advise us(the op and myself and future people with this problem) on what is the main cause of this issue that a hard reset fixes it. But for my device,it doesn't die it stops functioning.
This is how I get this problem, my phone is rooted, but it runs fine only when there is a app crash the phone locks up and thats it.
what i tried: I tried to back up my data so i could save myself from reinstalling all my app. I hard reseted the phone and the phone functioned again
but after restoring my data the phone locks up again. Now my phone works about 5sec from normal boot but then locks up. It works fine in safe mode. So really where is issue? Is an app is making the whole OS to jam there has to be a simple fix for this.
Please don't say return the device, thats the dumbest thing to ever say. We want to over come the problem not ignore it/get rid of it.
Thanks for your time guys
Try this.

My S3 started well and then "SUDDEN DEAD" :crying:
Well. I reverted back to 4.1.1 and no more random reboots or freezes. It was definitely ROM issue.
Any one tried new EMA2 rom? If yes, still freezing?

Mine was freezing constantly with MA1 and MA2 until I did what I posted above.
Now already 2 days without freezes.

Same problems here. Not sure about rooting. If I change the csc code and download the latest, say German update. would that change the rom and fix it ?

Probably not. Depends on what causes your problem.

I was getting similar behaviour too. Phone would freeze after making calls, sending msgs, using facebook, searching on google, basically random points anywhere. Went through uninstalling apps, did a factory reset, and through some trial and error finally pinned down where my problem was at least. It was caused by the latest version of MixZing. Was crashing before frequently, and after uninstalling it I've been using my phone fine all day with no crashes at all. Still potentially early days, but if I don't report back then that solved it for me.
A simple solution
ok guys.. this is something i tried and has been working for me for more than two days now:
the problem seems to be in the download manager included in the new android software so what you simply have to do is to disable this application whenever you're not using it.. you can do so in the settings>> applications manager>> view ALL>> select DOWNLOAD MANAGER and DISABLE..
of course this will stop the play store from functionning and will stop any automatic updates but will prevent the phone sudden death...
All you have to do when you want to download any new apps or update existing ones is to enable the download manager and i suggest before doing that to clear the RAM memory and try to be gentle and patient with the phone...
Just keep working like that till ANDROID finds a solution in the next update and your phone will be fine.. in the end its better than killing the machine with every freeze.
Remember to be patient and work slowly when the download manager is enabled
Reply if it worked for you

My first post here. Thanks for this tip. My phone was freezing every 3 minutes and so I did what you suggested after all other suggestions (except rooting - as I was worried I might brick the phone if it froze while rooting) didn't work. Anyway, just a few seconds after I hit "DISABLE", my phone froze! So I thought it's probably not working, but since the reboot, it hasn't crashed. Thanks!:good:

the same thing is happening to me and i have no clue why its happening it just like 3-4days ago but i have installed only clash of clans and clash royale in my phone. he most interesting thing is that all your phone feature will work but the screen will not for almost 20-30mins then it will recover on its own. all the call features are working well but no response from phone. my conclusion is this phone is totally a mess and i dont even know how i managed t use this device for 4years! it got super laggy after 6-7 months of use. Whatever i went to the service centre and they told that i need to change the motherboard of my s3 costing 130$.
I know there has been a few threads about this but I kind of know the reason to my problem but I'd like it resolved.
It's caused by an application from the GO Launcher EX people, Go Battery & Power Widget.
So, I know this is APP specific but I'm figuring that it's also phone specific as I don't see anyone else having this problem in specific with it in the past few months or updates. Last was march.
It worked just fine up until yesterday when it started freezing the phone with the screen on and the plastic LED thing underneath the menu buttons on my Xperia U, if it doesn't freeze it randomly reboots whenever it feels like it and I'm quite positive this will in the long run harm my battery, I might just be paranoid but I think that it has affected or overloaded a few of the LEDs inside of the screen I can now find 3 dead pixels, I know that ain't much but it's kind of annoying as you may guess.
So, anyone know what I could do to solve this issue without removing the program or if it's a compatibility issue with something else, any help at all would be swell - I would remove it if it were not for the fact that when it did work that it saved my battery quite dramatically.
Thanks in advance and thanks for reading my wall of text.

I just recently re-flashed my phone due to an annoying "update available" issue that wasn't removable, forcing me to create a backup, which I just now restored into the phone (It doesn't appear to be there now but the issue persist so now I'm confused as to what might be causing it)
Once again, I'd really like this resolved rather than factory reseting the phone and then start to re-fill it again.
Not quite counting the freezes and reboots, but it's well over 50 just today.
Hmm as u said that the problem existed even without go launcher so try logging when the screen freezes... We might see the problem there... Anyways I know you said you don't want to factory reset and stuff... But 50 above is harmful so I think flashing stock is a good idea
Cheers,
AJ
Have you tried removing the app itself to see that it stops freezes?
If so, then it is clear the app causes the problems. Then you should contact the developers of it, they shall have an email on google play.
If not, then I suggest you to go for a logcat and try to figure out what is the cause Sounds really weird and a stock reflash (without restore) seems to be the solution for me

I decided to re-flash it, went well and it's feeling healthier.
The problem was Xprivacy.

I had some freezing issues even without it, but I mucked about and re-flashed and now it feels better, but I'm still sure it was Xprivacy. Don't know why though.
