I flashed the synergy 2.3.3 and after about three hours the phone was struggling and slowing down so I rebooted and I got the "system process is not responding" error. I tried a full wipe and reflash and still got it at boot. Then I did superwipe and was able to boot into the rom. So I wanted to try $ShooTeR ReWInD 3D. I superwiped and flashed then I got the same error. FC it doesnt work and neither does waiting. Any help would be appreciated. Also I am s-off revolution and fully rooted. Also have the latest radio and pri.
You will have to run the RUU, then goi back to S-on. Re-run Revolutionary to get it to go away. Unless someone knows another method.
Here is method I used, make sure you do the last one, fastboot write secureflag 3

Try reflashing your recovery and see if that helps.

I really am stumped. I went back to s-on and unrooted then rerooted with rev. It was fine all day then I rebooted and it came back again.
My old Desire had this problem too, while running CM7.
I fixed my problems by running the "Fix Permissions".
Or you could try and run a RUU file to revert to absolute basic, then root/S-OFF.
Does this only happen on custom roms? After i got my EVO 3D, i'm rooted and S-OFF'd but still on stock ROM, haven't had a single problem.
Might wanna look for a more stable version or ROM.

I had that issue last week - rooted but running a stock rom. It has been running fine for two weeks and then all of a sudden I started getting that same error. I noticed that if I removed the SD card, the errors would stop. I copied all of the data on the card to my PC and then formatted the card. I then put the card back into the phone and copied all of the data back on. No more errors but I was missing some stuff and had some strange apps in the app drawer. Finally I performed a Factory Reset and that fixed the app problem. Its been fine ever since.

No luck Formated sd card rebooted from recovery fresh install synergy, "system process not responding". Pulled the battery and it booted fine. I wonder if it is the recovery

I done it 5 times tonight I just do not understand what the hell is going on. It works for a little while then it freezes and I pull battery and the error comes up again.
Did you do the return to stock method? That fixed mine, as soon as its done and S-on you can run revolutionary again. Just watch at first boot after you run the RUU it will prompt you saying it is checking for updated firmware, then software. You need to hit Cancel! Heck when I got my replacement I ran revolutionary before I even activated This way I would not get the "error 16" or the not being able to roam that seems to happen with revolutionary.

Yea I returned to stock totally with s-off, ran revolution and it kept failing at fastboot, said it lost connection, yes I had fastboot off and usb debuging. On the third try it goes to s-off and I flash cwm. Then I flashed synergy and it pops the error. I pull battery and reboot to cwm then reboot to os and it will go through the first time. Then in about an hour it will freeze so I pull battery and reboot to the same error. I am lost.

Just a thought....
If you just remove the SD card, do the errors stop? If so...and you formatted the SD card and the errors return when you put the card back it, you could just have a bad card.
If the errors go away when you remove the card, if you have another SD card handy, you might try running on that card for a while and see if the phone is stable. If it is, that would confirm that the first SD card is bad.
I have had this on my evo 3d stock 2.3.4 unrooted D: and it will say system.android.com has stopped responding. and i force close and it locks up the phone even after a reboot. must battery pull first
Yea I tried that and it still gets the error. I am thinking it is something wrong with the s-off with revolution. It takes three tried to get the s-off. That just doesn't seem right to me. Also the phone is not wiping when I flash a rom.

Above you said you returned to stock, all the way with S-off. You need to set it to S-on, then you rerun the revolutionary. If you did set S-on and that is just a typo than I would exchange it.

Yea it was a typo. I have brought it back to s-on tried different sd cards and all the suggestions in this thread. The one thing that I did was when the error came up i pulled the battery then booted into recovery and rebooted from there and it booted up fine.
Just an update. In the end the phone went into a complete bootloop and never came back. The was fully stock with s-on. So I exchanged it and my new 3d is fine. Rooted and s-off with no problems so far. thanks for all the suggestions.
So I can get into cwm recovery but my computer wont recognize my sd card so i cant restore a backup...any ideas? help appreciated..
Take the SD card out, put it in a different phone or an SD card adapter. Once you have a connection to your PC, put the backup on the SD card and put the SD card back in your phone. You will then be able to restore.
If you can't access your SD card even on your phone, you can follow a guide to flashing through fastboot by putting it on your phone that I think is in the CDMA development section.

...You took your phone to sprint to get it unbricked? A real brick is when the phone stops turning on completely and doesn't give an LED signal while it is plugged in to the charger. Anything else can be easily fixed. Not trying to sound mean, but yeah...
If you have a backup, I'm pretty sure all you need to do is restore from that. I'm not sure if it is possible to remove your radios unless you go into hboot and a flash a PG86IMG to purposely do that. Basically, you don't need to flash radios. Your kernel would hopefully be included in the backup/ROM. You can either restore from a backup or flash a (any) rom to get your phone starting up again.
Check out my handy guide on breaking your phone:

its a long story but i can get into recovery, but my mac wont find my sd. I tried another sd and it found it, so it has to be a problem with my sd. They deleted everything from it when trying to fix it. I wanted to brick it to get a new 3d to trade to my buddy for his galaxy s2. I was rooted w CM and he said he wanted a fresh phone with no scrathes or root. So my buddy said to flash a gsm radio and battery pull in the middle of it to brick it. I did but they somehow got back to recovery but my sd is toast..

Ah, I see. The way I bricked my phone (that didn't allow you to go into recovery) on purpose was by flashing the PG86IMG RUU that can be found in the CDMA development section. I was on 2.08 and half the stuff failed to flash. My phone wouldn't go past the HTC screen or go into recovery. I went to the bootloader and did "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" or something like that to make it say S-ON and remove the -revolutionary- at the top.
I gave it to them and told them it wouldn't turn on. They checked HBOOT and verified it was S-On and tried going into recovery but nothing happened. They then said they would send me a replacement.
By the way, I did all this because 1/4 of the screen wasn't working but I didn't want to go through all their bullcrap so I did it the faster way by purposely breaking it.
makes sense. Well now I have a 3d that i said i lost, and tomorrow i'll be getting another i paid 100 dollars for. trading the new one for the galaxy to my buddy. But since this old one goes into recovery, i can possible fix it? should i just get a new sd card and flash the ruu? I'll check the meid and make sure it's clear, and if it is then i'll sell it for 100 bucks if anyone wants it. hboot 1.4

If it turns on, it is fixable. In your case, you have to do is go into bootloader and flash the ruu. I'll warn you, though, it didn't work for me so I don't know if it will work for you.

Hey all, I come from SGS4G forums, I know my way of flashing and whatnot with that device. However, a friend of mine owns a SGSII and has a weird issue that I hope you guys can help me fix.
The thing is, the device no longer recognizes the SIM card, or any other sim card. She already tried it on another device and the SIM is working fine. Also, the IMEI got corrupted.
I asked her what she was doing or what did she do with the phone. She told me that she was playing the sims and the battery died. So she plugged it in, waited a few minutes and then she turned it on.
After booting up, the phone didn't recognize the SIM card anymore.
As for ROM installed, she never replaced original ROM, nor ever tried to root the phone. This is what her device status states:
Baseband version: unknown
Kernel: [email protected]#2.
Build gingerbread.uhkg7
I really don't know how to proceed in this case. If it was my SGS4G, I would try to flash another modem using odin, but I don't know how it's done with this sgs2. So I ask the experts here to help me a bit.
Thanks in advance!
ps: i have no access to the device, my friend lives in a town far, far away.
I guess she didn't have efs backup, there are guide to recover imei I think it was in general thread, if those guides don't work, her pretty much final chance is to contact xda member called odia, he can restore imei's

If the phone is running stock firmware, why would you risk voiding the warranty by messing around with it ? If you stuff it up, your friend will either end up with a $500 paperweight, or she'll end up paying to have it repaired.
In other words, tell her to send the phone in for warranty repair/replacement. It's a no brainer.

I was just asking if there was an "easy" way to fix this, like, flashing some other rom. If that didn't work we would just rollback to stock.
Anyway, looks like we're going to go with the warranty card this time.
I'm still open for suggestion though, I can't believe this device would damage itself just by running out of battery when playing a game.
And yeah, no efs backup I'm afraid.
There isn't easy fix for this
Sent from my sgs2 running cm9 using xda app
It's not a matter of an easy fix. There's never an easy fix for borked EFS details. You risk stuffing the phone up & voiding the warranty in the process, which means if your friend wants it fixed, she ends up paying whatever it costs on top of what she's forked out for the phone.
Use the warranty, she pays nothing.
Think about it.
Edit to add - Also bear in mind you're going to be telling her what to do with the phone given you don't have access to it yourself. If she misunderstands something you tell her to do, kaput.

You could try first a factory reset
Then flash stock firmware both have been known to occasionally fix IMEI .

The first thing I suggested my friend was to do a factory reset. However, it didn't make any difference. In fact, I thing she came across with an error message saying something about not being able to mount efs files or something like that (she wasn't very clear, but she did mention EFS).
I would definitely try to odin (or kies) another stock ROM but since it isn't my phone and my friend isn't too tech savvy either then I think it's better to send it back for warranty.
Thank you all
Looking for help/suggestions.
I have 2 aria that developed random reboot for no apparent reason...
My work aria was rooted and s-off running cm7.1 for about a month with no issues, I've flashed kang cm7.2 and all seemed ok, but the next morning the phone was dead (it was at 50% before going to sleep). charged it in the morning (the battery was 0%), came to work and while it was on my desk the phone rebooted and continued to do that through out the day. At home, i did factory reset, did not help. I've put it back to s-on and put back the stack ATT 2.2, same results, continues to re-boot at random intervals. Thinking it was hardware, got my job to get me a different phone.
3 weeks later, my wife's aria (rooted but still s-on) running cm7.1 started to run extremely slow and battery would drain in about 5 hours. I've done factory reset, clear everything and it still doing random re-boots just like my aria.
With one aria, I thought that it was a hardware issue, but now 2 arias, looks like os/software. Resetting/ re flashing does not help.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thank you, I gave mine back at work, my wife's is out of warranty. Interesting that both of them developed the same problem (i haven't touched wife's in months). Do you know what may cause such a problem?
Did you try doing "format system" before doing a clean install? Also make sure you are using a recent version of Clockworkmod (5.x).

Running CM-7.2.0-RC for about a month and the Airia just started random rebooting this morning. Nothing changed except some software updates -- such as Google Maps.
I restored to a NAndroid backup from 3 weeks ago and it still random reboots. Suspecting a hardware problem, I even put the SD card in another Airia and restored the older NAndroid backup, but still having the reboot problem.
Any thoughts?

Can, because possible errors on the SD card
I still have not solved the random reboot issues. I have two Arias with the exact same problem. I think I somehow contaminated the 2nd phone by swaping SD cards and loading a Nandroid backup from the 1st phone. Both phones are rooted.
I have tried loading 4 roms -- Liberated, CM7.1 stable, CM7.2 RC and Menjeni's version of CM9 and have the exact same random reboot problem Seems like the phones works for anywhere from 5 minutes to over an hour and then reboot.
When I load the different ROMs I wipe everything -- the factory data reset, all the caches and re-formats that CWM offers. I also reformatted the SD card and reloaded CWM via Rom Manger in an effort to completely clean the phone. I also ran two a virus/malware scans on the phone and SD card -- which found no errors.
Is there something else I can do to further clean the phones? Since the same problem is with both phones, I seriously doubt its a hardware problem.
Anyone interested in purchasing 2 somewhat functioning Arias?

OK. I'm assuming you have an AT&T Aria. If not let me know.
Here's what I'd suggest you do. I'm basically trying the most extreme steps to correct the issue so we can verify if the issue is something that can be corrected or not.
1) Reformat your SD card(s) with SD Formatter 3.1. This tool sometimes fixes hard to detect problems that aren't corrected when formatting with other methods. (Default settings are fine.)
2) Run the AT&T 2.2.2 RUU to revert your phone to almost 100% stock. I say almost because the RUU will NOT change your HBOOT, which means even after doing this process, you will still have S-OFF.
3) Try using the phone with the stock unmodified ROM to see if you experience the random reboots you described. If you do, the rest of the steps are not necessary and it's probably a hardware issue.
4) Install CWM by putting your phone into FASTBOOT mode, then using the Android Flasher utility to install the latest version of Clockworkmod. Use this version: http://www.mediafire.com/?lg6b63aqpi1cvbg (source). If you know how to do this from command line with the fastboot command line tool, that is fine too.
5) Boot into CWM. Do factory reset/wipe data and format system partition. Then install the ROM of your choice. I'd suggest something like a recent version of CM7 since it is very stable. If using CM7, install 20110828 gapps immediately after flashing CM7. Reboot and see how it goes.
Even if you already downloaded any of the above files, delete them and download them again this time around (or check the md5 sums if you know how). It's possible the files were corrupted when you downloaded them before and that is why you keep having problems.
Also, as an aside: Are you using third-party batteries with your devices?
Aria random reboot
Thanks drumist for all you advice! When I did my last attempt at a clean install, I used a spare SD card that had never been in the phone.
Both phones are AT&T Arias with the original batteries. I liked the Aria size so much that I upgraded my wife's expired Iphone contract when AT&T was providing a free Aria upgrade just to have a spare in case I damaged one by rooting. Now I have managed to mess up both phones!
I was thinking my next step would be to go back to a stock state, as you recommend. I was thinking of going even further and un-rooting and S-On. Do you think the problem could be in the Hboot partition? And wouldn't going back to S-on replace the Hboot?
I still think I somehow contaminated the 2nd phone by restoring a Nandriod backup from the first phone. The 2nd phone was working find until I did the restore.
Regardless, I will try what you suggest and let you know the results.

Reverting the HBOOT to stock (and yes, returning to S-ON) has some risk -- i.e., if you make a mistake during the process, you can permanently brick the device, so I wouldn't recommend that except as a last resort. The RUU will reflash every other partition on your phone back to stock besides the HBOOT and is safe to do, so stick with that.

Yeah, it's possible. If that is the case, though, the HBOOT wouldn't be the problem (because Nandroid backups do not touch the HBOOT). The RUU will reflash every partition that Nandroid touches.
If you already tried using a different SD card, then I wouldn't worry about using that SD Formatter tool.
Can't find a copy of the AT&T 2.2.2 RUU. They took it off the HTC website. The instructions there are for an OTA update, which I can't do since I'm not running the stock rom.
---------- Post added at 02:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:12 PM ----------
Never mind. I found a copy of the RUU on my laptop.
I have installed the hboot drivers and the phone shows up as a device on my computer, but the RUU says it can't find my phone. I am running Windows 7, if that makes any difference.
Got the RUU to load from an XP machine. Bad news is that the phone still randomly reboots.
I guess the only other step is to un-root and S-On. What have I got to lose. Can't use the phones as they are now.
Got a good way to do this?
I accidentally formatted my internal sd card hard drive and it is completely empty.
I unlocked boot loader and was well on my way to perm root and all that awesomeness thanks to hasoon2000's amazing tool kit and I was too impatient to wait for my friend who has had years of rooting and developing experience to come over and at least supervise my attempt when I decided I wanted to try jellybean now... I couldn't wait. Ugh. I was still s-on and I tried using the ext4 recovery to install zip from sd card and being the noob that I am (over confident noob) I screwed it up. Came across the white HTC boot screen got scared and tried factory restore from recovery and boot loader ... when I plugged in to my Pc it said h drive unreadable until I format so I did from my Pc. My friend showed up and knew when I didn't answer my phone that it was bricked... not knowing I screwed it up this bad. After 4 hours and many failed attempts he has given up on me. Does anyone have the answer to this mess of fudge up?

Just flash a RUU for your carrier (make sure it's not an OTA) The search button is your friend. I would suggest you to read through the Amaze bible, as it explains everything you need to do.
Same happened to me I simply downloaded an official ruu for the firmware and stuff I was on, but it on a backup SD card renamed it to P85im.IMG or whatever its called, threw it in my phone let it flash and tadaa my phone was back to normal!!!!!
