[Request] Please remove the yellow flash!

I believe that this is the right place to post this request.
Whenever I select a text box or a flash item in the browser is flashes a yellow color.
I hate it and i want it to leave! It seems like the item is freezing and it is ugly.
Can it be removed somehow? I believe it can on be done the hard way!
wrong section & this is normal.

wrong section. but to answer your question, flash a theme that changes the colors in the web browsing...
Is it a theme thing? I'm sorry I thought that it was something deeper.
It's not only the browser but also the text boxes.
i have to disagree to you guys. afaik this has nothing to do with themes, it's just the yellow border which marks links and everything else in the browser. it's right in the development board. i can understand that you don't like it, i personally don't really care about it...
i'm pretty sure this can be done by any developer. but not by me, my android skills are very weak
maybe some dev picks this up...
This is definitely a theme issue. You need to edit a. 9.png, either in framework-res or the Browser.apk. Those are a huge pain to edit, but you can change the color, or make it transparent if you want to get rid of it altogether. I'm no themer, but I think if it's totally transparent you can cheat and skip the complicated part of preparing the. 9.png before you push it. Or you might be able to just delete it altogether. I'm sure if you post this over in that section you'll find an answer from somebody who knows better than me.

[Q] Hide the page indicator in TouchWiz

Hi there,
loving my new Galaxy but I don't really fancy the page indicator telling me what page of the home screen I am on. Any option to hide it? And no I wanna stick with TouchWiz so no other Launcher suggestions please ;-)
Thanks
DoubleYou
anybody any ideas?
Hmmm I'm curious about this too.....
Im still very n00b to android but off the top of my head im thinking about the possibility of getting into the touchwiz files and making the page indicator graphics transparent.
There's probably another, more efficient way than that but..... .
I've no idea if that's possible but I would certainly hope so. Ill be looking into theming this thing when I get my sgs2 and if I have any luck ill let you know.
I hate page indicators.......

Yes let me know please in case you find a way? I was actually hoping someone had already found a way to do this though ;-)

I did it....
I dont know if there are any differences between the touchwiz apks in different ROMS but to be on the safe side, upload the file "TouchWiz30Launcher.apk" from "/system/app" for me and I will get rid of that pesky page indicator for you.
Its not completely removed, it still works if you long press on it, its just invisible.

sounds great will PM you tomorrow.
hmmm just noticed that the numbers are still there.
I was using a black wallpaper so I didnt notice before...
Damn. Will keep playomg around with it.
I also would of thought it would be as simple as making the numbers transparent, even a blank .png file?

Afraid not. They are called into play by a line of code somewhere.
They can be disabled in the same way you would disable the names of apps displayed under the icons our another item of text. Its just a matter of finding the right line to tweak.

Ah, that makes sense. Hmm bit of pain!

Possible to remove picture icon from "contacts"?

Probably more of a general Android question, but thought I'd give it a go here. On way to work shortly, so apologies for my lack of proper search.
Once upon a time on my SGS, someone showed me where these icons are located - I'm sure I'll find them again, but I guess I'll have to do some kind of text realignment, which is probably out of my depth.
I just want my contacts to show as a list - no icons, no photos.
Stock KE2, rooted via CWM, have Root Explorer.
Many thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction - will do further research when I get to work.
Hello!
Yes I have same question!
I Dont use photos for Contacts - So it use Empty Icons and neccesary space so....
Please Help to remove Contacts Photo Icons from Logs and Contacts PLEASE!

Right forum!
Please Help!
Might not be what you want but you could replace the image with a blank one in the framework or twframework file.

No. Pictures(res\drawable-hdpi-finger\contacts_default_image_small_01 - 05.png) are in Contact.apk file. When I remove'em from it - empty spaces remain there - so it's not expand Contacts lines to that space... So we need to encrease table row size...
Well, the contacts db is located here:
/data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db
I don't know how you plan to decipher this file. It's neither xml nor plist (like iphone).

I just checked go contacts ex and it can do what you want via a setting. Works very well.

The contacts2.db is a sqlite database file. You'll need the sqlite3 executable to view it's contents (eg. sqlite3 contacts2.db).
Don't think it'll do what the OP wants as it contains contact details and not the layout of the contact list. Think you'll need to decompile the apk and edit one of the drawable/*.xml files.
Haven't really looked at this but a guess would be it's one of the .XMLs in res/laout in the Contact.apk where you can edit out the imageview for the photo.
Yep, looks like it's in res/layout/favorite_contact_list_item.xml
Someone's reading my mind - I was thinking of bumping this thread last night... spooky!
As suspected, I'm out of my depth here - but thanks for the replies everyone, I may try to get back into my depth over the weekend. It's one of those not-really-a-big-deal-but-it-still-bugs me things.
Just switched from adw to Go launcher. Not a fan of 3rd party apps for contacts/SMS, but I'll give it a look.
Thanks again to all.
I tried GO launcher. Wasn't a fan of it. Anyway on ICS these picture icons are even more of a pain! Why do you need a picture of yourself next to every text you send in the thread!?!? And why do you need a picture of the person you are texting next to their text. Have a picture of the person on the list of threads fine.... but not in the thread itself thats stupid and takes up to much screen space.
Who wrote that into ICS? Not an improvement!
Has anymore found a way to change it in ICS?

[Q] text colors in dialogs and menus

ok, i have a weird problem here. after rooting and installing some of my market apps, i have noticed that the text in the popup menus in all of my menus are white (making it hard to read them). i'm also trying to replace the keyboard, so i have installed a few file explorers. the background is black, and so is the text on that background. what has happened here and is there any way to fix that?

There have been several threads about this already. Some have tried to fix it but it has not been smooth.

thanks guys for the kind responses, even though i did do a forum search with no hits. your replies have been most helpful.
my post count may be low. my forum sense in finding answers by searching first isn't.
That's why I threw that in there instead of a snide noob remark. XDA has made Android a terrific experience for me through several devices but it's width and breadth are staggering. The method I showed is a way to bang out quick searches with a variety of key words.
dang69, I have to keep that link in my bookmarks, I could use that on some of the other forums I'm on where people continually ask the same questions w/o searching first!
For the original question, this seems to be the main post where people are trying to find a solution to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356514 (coincidentally the first url that came up with dang69's link).
