[Q] Streak keeps dying, need help! - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've had my streak for just over a year now so it's sadly out of warranty. The problem I have is out of the blue random apps will fail to work when you start them, then if I reboot the phone it resets itself and on restart loads up as if it's a brand new phone but with setup process error meaning I have to reflash as a reboot or factory reset doesn't fix. Once I've set it all up again after a few days the same thing will happen, it used to do it about once a month for 2-3 months but now it's doing it almost every other day.
I'm scared of turning my phone off as on reboot it resets itself or comes out with errors and reformats itself. I've done numerous factory resets, reset cache, completely wiped the external sd card and checked the internal card in engineering mode but nothing I do seems to fix it.
Any suggestions or will I have to hold out till June when I can get a new phone?
Also I'm running the power rom evergreen edition, it has done the same on gingerstreak as well.

al these symptoms seem to point in the direction of a corrupt inner SD card , i expierenced these problems as well , and as soon as i replaced the inner SD , they dissapeared

Might give that a try then, was it easy to replace?

pretty much all the information you need will be discussed in this video :

i have not done it myself but the dude over at the phone repair shop said it really was just swap work

I had a similar sort of situation when I flashed a ROM some months ago.
I think it was in the setup of the ROM as something went a bit awry in the reboot.
The way I seem to remember resolving it was by taking it right back to stock 2.1 and starting afresh again wiping caches and factory resetting the whole way back to 2.3.

Moving to Q&A

Well I got myself a kingston 4gb class 10 card and cut away a hole in the back to replace the standard card. It's been 2 days now and I've not had a single problem so it looks like it has worked thank god!

[Q] My samsung galaxy s keeps restarting

My Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant keeps restarting over and over. Its getting irritating that my phone can just be sitting then all of a sudden its rebooting up. Im running firmware 2.3.4 gb and Simply Honey 5.1...Can someone please help me with this problem..Thanks
Need a little more info. Are you Overclocking, Underclocking, and/or Undervolting?
We may have the same problems, sir, though we may have a very slight difference on the device we're using. I haven't tried using Galaxy S so I can't really vouch on this to work on your device.
Recently, I have experienced that too on my Galaxy S II. Here's what I did:
1) I cleared my browser's cache from the application...
2) I formatted my SD card using the SD Formatter from this link...
3) I installed WatchDog just in case something goes wrong.
4) I move all my apps to my phone. No more apps on my SD.
It was quite hard to narrow down which one was the culprit because I did all the abovementioned procedures at the same time without testing which of them works or not. But ever since I applied those procedures, I never got any random reboot up to this point yet.
User Theonew also mentioned that it might be #4 that caused it. If it won't take much of your time, you can give it a try. But I suggest you apply #4 before trying the rest.
Another thread also mentioned that Dolphin HD browser was the culprit on their device. I cannot comment on this because I was having random reboots when, in fact, I don't have Dolphin HD on my device.
Galaxy SL keeps Restarting..
Hi Guys..
I too had the same problem. My GT-I9003 suddenly started restarting and it keeps restarting untill battery drains. If I remove the battery or manually start it back again.. It will ask the setup and all my contacts, messages are lost. I tried several troubleshoots and of no use.. I gave it to samsung authorised service for three times and finally got the mother board replaced. But again the problem started on the same day. I faced this issue for around 2 weeks and thought of
throwing my phone away.. but finally one day I found the cause and solution for this issue..
The main reason for this issue is, our phone got bricked..(99% of chance for Soft Brick and 1% of chance for hard brick).
I tried the following troubleshoot.. (This is the resolution for Soft Brick Issue)
1. Turnoff the phone..
2. Press the Volume up key on the left side of the phone and Home key simultaneously..
3. Holding those two keys.. Press the power on key..
4. Now your phone enters into recovery mode
5. There select the option to Factory reset and do the factory reset. I remember it as 3rd option..
6. After the factory reset, clear the partition cache which will be the 4th option in recovery mode..
7. After doing both these, there will be an option to reboot the phone.. select and let the phone restart..
If your phone is Soft bricked.. the issue will be resolved.. as like mine. Still if the problem exists, then the phone might got hard bricked(u r d unlucky 1%) and try replacing the internal sd card..

[Q] Help with boot loop issue

ok, here comes the story.
i know you guys hate when we open new forums, but this here is a topic that i have been dealing with since about 2 weeks ago.
also, i wanted to thank you all for your help, ever since than...
the problem started as i said, few weeks ago. i have an s2, i tried to install a rom, and an error occued. the problem was know that i needed to factory reset and wipe the data from the phone in order to boot the phone. this was not possible due to an internal error (i got sucked), later on, i also discover that the problem i faced was due to the partions inside my phone.so, i tried to fix the partions, but i was unable, until i found a thread here dealing with the same problem on Note 2. so after a lot of work, i was able to repartion my internal memory (lost 6 GB) to fix partions 9, and 10. once that was done i was able to wipe data and factory reset.the problem was now that i was unable to install any rom using odin except CM10 which stucked also at the end of the process. but luckily for me i was able to get into the recovery of CM10 and i installed from the restriction remix rom. after wiping and factory reset, i was finally able to boot successively into the home-screen.
now, my phone seams to have swamped the internal and external memories. in the build in device manager of rr-rom, i only see my memory card labeled as internal. but this is not the big deal. the real problem is that this phone constantly keeps on restarting itself from time to time. so, it shut down from alone, tries to boot up, gets stucked at the logo, reboots itself several time in the same way, until in finally boots successively,
any help??
ah, i just wanted to add a funny fact, which is that on the day i fixed my phone,i accidently dropped it in the toilet (it fall from my pocket, no bad ideas please, it was fully at random from alone). i manged to save it also at that day. so, i some got a feeling that this phone just don't want to get repaired
Reinstall stock rom and start from scratch.

Well I have seen some ridiculous generic topic titles in my time (like "Help" and "Help please" etc) but this topic with its complete lack of a title just takes the crown as the most idiotic.

[Help] GS2 in dire need of resuscitation!!

Hello XDA! This is kind of long winded, but I'm at the end of my tether with this and all I want is a functioning GS2 back in my hands!
I have an international GS2 that i've owned since they appeared in the UK. I rooted it after a month of running stock and then started flashing ROMs pretty soon after that. I have flashed many many ROMs, all with success and no issue whatsoever.
However....
I now have a GS2 that boots into recovery, boots into download and will boot into a ROM. Once booted into a ROM, it will freeze, either instantly or after a period of minutes. The screen becomes non-responsive yet the ROM seems to function, calls come in and continue and it still connects to a PC to browse storage etc.
I've wiped and flashed a multiple of ROMs - CM, RR, PA, multiple official stocks. Followed all the install instructions as per usual. Never took any shortcuts or whatever.
Inbetween all this the power button stopped working. Took this to my local store, they showed me the water damage, they replaced the button and that was rectified, working again.
So....basically no ROM would work properly at all. I assumed that this was a soft brick of some sort and gave up hope of getting this fixed myself. Took it back to the phone shop, explained the issue and he said it should be repairable, good chance it was just a software issue and that if worst came to the worst it would go on the JTAG and be flashed back to stock and I would lose everything but have a working phone.
Obviously the phone was picked up today and it's still the same. Boot into stock ROM and pretty much freezes instantly.
The phone shop dude said he tried a new screen to see if that was issue, it wasn't. They tested all the connections on the board and there where no shorts apparently. They had it on the JTAG multiple times, that didn't fix it.....
Doe's anyone have any idea what could be the cause. Do I just let it RIP or is there a chance someone out there can fix this.....
Thanks in advance and sorry for the rambling post. I thought I better lay out all that's happened with the phone and the work that has been carried out on it.

Did they check the battery?
I assume they did.
Nuke scripts can clean all previous ROMs leftovers and format system will get your device all cleaned up.
If those 2 don't work, hardware it is, swap shops and see.

Could be a GPU issue. If it is then you will need a mobo replacement or replace GPU if possible.
Alternatively you should do a complete clean install or rom which means make sure all the old files and partitions are cleaned before installing a rom. First simply try using a rom/kernel cleaning script and the flash custom or stock rom. Another way would be to format internal and external sd cards via CWM and then flash rom.
If you still have issues after doing above then you have a hardware issue and will need new mobo.

Im gettin' Frozen

Hi there everybody, I got an SIII for more less a year now, and Im having lots of problems with it. First of all, Im on custom rom ProBAM right now, and I love changing it and all that stuff. But my problem is that my phone is freezing lots! I wiped it twice, Full wipe, even sd, and everything. Tried 3 diferent ROMs and nothing, it still happens. It keep freezing. I dont know why. Its so wird, because it just get stuck, and i have to reboot with the 10 secs power on button push. So, any ideas on what could be happening?
Thanks a lot.
Dont post read the Freezing problems thread first .
It is in the stickied faqs and guides .
It might be your mem card ready on crap out on you. Had loads of problems recently with freezes, then the other day I had a message saying my card was faulty and needed a format.
I did and my freezes have gone..
Back your mem card up ASAP if I was you..

[Q] GT-S5839I Boot loop

Hello members hoping I can get some guidance.
Damaged my old phone in a accident the other week so I used my wife's old spare (unlocked) Galaxy Ace GT-S5839I.
As you all know it's a bit dated and slow so I decided to read (a lot) of this forum and decided a rom update was in order.
Looked at the CynagenMod roms. Read the tutorials and downloaded necessary files for the update from SD Card.
Started with CM9_cooperve_Beta_05, excellent rom, used it for 24 hrs but it's unsupported and has a few bugs.
So I decided to go for cm-11.0.0-GT-S5830i-cooperve, again excellent rom but it wouldn't boot with my sim card installed which defeats the objective of having a phone for communication.
I read about installing the modem file to overcome this sim problem and so installed MODEM_S5360_XXMK1.
This did not solve my sim boot issue, so the decision was made to revert back to CM9_cooperve_Beta_05 till I found something withy less issues.
This is when I started having an issue with the rom, though I can't remember the exact phrasing but it was something like Encryption Error when the rom booted, my only option was to reboot and wipe cache etc, which I did, however this did not solve the the issue. It just booted again, every time, with the same encryption issue.
So I came back to these forums and read many threads, some advice was that the intenral sd card was now unreadable, which I guess is real bad.
Other suggestions were to flash a stock rom to the phone, using odin, this could solve the issue, so I have, except now the phone is in a kind of boot loop. Showing a brand logo (used vodaphone and orange roms amongst others) then the Samsung logo then brand logo and so on, stuck in a boot loop I guess.
I have also read that to overcome this boot loop, if the internal sd is damaged, is to use my sd card as an external sd replacement for the internal sd.
This is as far as I got as its 6.15am and I haven't been to sleep yet.
Now most advice on the internet is a little flaky at best so im hoping any members here may be able to give me some good solid advice as to how to best rescue this phone as I really don't want to give up yet.
I can still enter download and recovery modes with the phone.
So please, someone throw me a bone here.
