Electric feeling - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I've had my prime for 2 days but whilst charging it last night I needed to have a quick look on the web and as I gently touched the outside outside of the prime I could feel a very faint electric charge. As anyone else experienced this ?

Many have, I haven't. I have a UK Prime, most reports of this I believe are from US.

Thanks for the quick reply mate. Mine is a UK version bought at pcw on Saturday. I thought it felt a bit weird lol gonna stick my
tongue on it now and get a payout off asus lol.

That is strange, I can honestly say that I have never had this.

well this one only slight screen bleed and 2 dead pixels. gps is not working at all, the dock keys are all ok so far, so I'm debating taking it back because of the electric problem but will the next one be better or worse lol ?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium

ok now im getting a messed up back arrow on the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium

I had the same "problem" with my laptop, which had the same material with the Prime.
Saying that, my prime is also does the exact same thing.
Maybe both of our mains supplies are messed up and our electronics are not grounding, let me know if you get hit with 240V?

it has posted here somewhere. Just flip your power plug the other way, then it would solve it.

Can't do that in the UK. We have proper safe guards to stop such craziness.

Your prime is shocking.

hm i hear electrons are healthy *bzzzz*

I have this on my Prime, but I have also had this on other electronic devices with aluminum faceplates or other components, such as certain stereo equipment. I wouldn't worry at all.

Yeah, they kinda made the charger ass backwards lol... I've gotta have my Asus logo upside down so I don't feel it. Tbh I think it felt kinda cool lol but something that's $500 shouldn't be doing that.

Mine does the same thing if you touch the metal body near the charger. Quite unsettling at first but you get used to it lol.

man and i thought only mine had that extra stimulation ;/

I got it as well. Just feels tiny vibrating, just like a rotating HDD.
I guess it's because the chassi is grounded and got a different potential than you.

Just checked and pcw near me have none in stock so I can't just exchange it. I would love to just be able to spend my £500 on a machine that does what it says without all the worry of getting a worst one than I already got.
Shocking with No GPS at all (I get 1 sat then drops off almost instantly), Discovered 2 more dead pixels so thats 4 in total, Only slight light bleed from 1 edge.
I love the performance and speed but am feeling like it's worth less than half a grand.

At least you haven't been getting actually shocked the past 3 days.
I'm actually getting a small shock, like static. Don't know why.

Is it whilst charging or not ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

It does happen, most wont notice it as it just feels like a very very faint vibration.
When its plugged in, run your fingers over the metal kinda lightly, just brushing over it and youll feel a small vibration tingle... its normal apparently, just dont go in the bath with it

Maybe this is a hilarious question but you DID remove all of the Plugs from the bottom of the Prime before putting it on the dock?
Does the lock slider clicks into the most right position when sliding the Prime into the Dock holding?

Update I examined the connector on the tablet and it appears to not be seated right.. As I can see light coming from inside the tablet... It's seated crooked.. I knew it was something more so back to Newegg it goes for a replacement one..

Funny, because I couldn't figure out why my Prime wasn't fitting into the dock correctly. I didn't even catch that there were plugs the first time I looked at the bottom.

Mine fits into the dock so snug that it wouldn't even need the latch and it wouldn't move side to side. Definitely sounds like it is physically deformed.

Could you post pictures or a video?
This is really weird, since these parts are machine-made, if it wobbles left to right then it's not just one part that is incorrect, all the 'three' parts have to be loose that connect the tablet to the dock. I cannot imagine it at all.

Surely all the parts are ''machine-made'', and yet we still get problems with light bleed, dead pixels and the like.
Yeah I might take pics hell some guy posted a pic on IRC chat his prime was sent to him without the plastic separators for the pins on the female end of the 40 pin connector all that was their was the straight up copper it would have shorted and bent the pins if he had put his charger in it
But when I get home I will check compared to my other prime to see about this movement it could be the dock but I know for a fact that the charger also wiggles way more then my other one...

Your TFS gorilla screen gives you a skinny reflection

Here's something I noticed about the TFS, if you look at it, well first make sure you polish the screen clean real good, then look at your reflection in it.
Now don't you look like you've been working out for 3 weeks straight.
I am shocked to find this. The TFS has a nice built-in skinny mirror.

I see that you have a lot of free time on your hands huh? But thanks for that info
Maybe my eyelids are too heavy from all the excess weight but I cannot see this wizardry you speak of.
Besides, it is more likely that ASUS would advertise a feature that doesn't work than not advertise one that does.

The first thing that came to mind. It seems like under the right conditions this tablet can bend. I bent mine back after opening it a few times.

I'm sorry, what's that?
Maybe some pictures would help me understand? I don't know of what would be plastic and keep you from docking, do you mean your glass screen is starting to flex out along the bottom?
Oh! Do you mean the charge port on the Prime or the dock? If that's the case, then likely not. I think under all circumstances a broken charge port is most likely going to be considered Customer Induced Damage, but you never know until you try.

Wow, maybe it's just the angle but it looks like the entire body has a bend to it. Have you tried bending it back yourself? And is the actual charging port ok, it's just all the metal around it that's deformed?
I have no idea if that'll be covered or not, but if you stand your ground and put it down as fact that you have not mistreated your tablet and that the keyboard and charger are the only things that have been in contact with that area, it's a possibility they'll cover it under warranty. That is crazy bent up, it would honestly be a chore for me to even try and make that happen.
Sorry I'm not of much more help, good luck.

That's wild. Yeah, I don't know how they'd handle that. It would be hard to say the dock bent the entire tablet in that way. Totally sucks, how is the screen, no light-bleed or undue pressure you can notice? Looks like someone might have tried testing its durability a little too much lol

I don't know how the dock would cause that though. Who all lives with you, who else would have access to your tablet? I mean, that almost looks like someone put it on the edge of a table then leaned on it or something: I can not see the dock making that dent.
Do me a favor, check that your dock has all its screws in the hinge. At one point I had problems docking, and almost started to get rough/forceful with it until I decided to look down in the hinge. Below my Prime was one of its screws that had come out and was keeping the tablet from sitting right: you could have had a screw come out, and as you were trying to push/twist/whatever you were hitting the screw in different spots?

Best way to remove the rubber pins in the dock ports from the tablet

Any one have any good ways to do this.
Edit: Figured it out

I dunno but send me one! The one over the power got hot during recharging and dropped off ... now lost to the void. What are the odds ASUS sending me a replacement... that will not loose grip when hot?

They are a pain in the a$$ to remove. I had 3 Primes and it was always a job getting them out and trying not to scratch something. The TF700 doesn't have the plugs so I guess ASUS got it right this time.
just use a paper clip.... there are small holes in the rubber stoppers that a bent paper clip can get into, and then just pull down. all done without a scratch
I just stuck a push-pin in mine (they had a little hold already) and just use that to lever them out.
