[Q] Can't setup account to buy apps - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

i have been trying to buy app's via setting up the AT&T account for it, to just add the price of the app to my monthly AT&T bill, but it keeps giving me an error.
anyone else have this happen, or know of a fix for it?
tx --- art.

I switched from an Atrix and when I created the account and went through the Kies setup it had my financial account transfered over to the Note from the Atrix I guess even though it didn't have a valid sim card in it. Or it did it with the computer wirelessly.

Blackberry working on tmobile USA?

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anybody has the blackberry software running on the xdaII with tmobile US? I know theres a specific rate plan you have to get with it, but does it allow you to browse the web with it also? What apn's are you using to do both, mail and web? How well does it work and where can I find the app?
thanks
I am using it on an XDA II on t-mobile. I hav the Blackberry minutes and mail plan that is essentially $19.99 for un,imited data and SMS messages and 59.99 for 1000 anytime minutes. As far as the Blackberry Client is concerned, I am use the Blackberry Web Client (BWC). Have not activated BES side yet. Here's my "good" and "bad" lists on the BWC side:
GOOD
1. Excellent, super fast, very reliable basic messaging.
2. Allows you to auto forward and consolidate multiple e-mail accounts and have all messages forwarded to your device
3. Allows you to specify what return address you want the recipientto respond to.
4. Allows you to make the reciepient think that the message is coming from a different e-mail address than your tmo web client address. For example, I have a RIM pager and use that address as return address on XDA. Everyone still thinks I am using the RIM device, when in fact everything is being doen to and from the XDA.
BAD
1. Have not been able to download or open any attachments
2. Clinet does not automatically open the next message, like it odes on regular e-mail. makes you open each message manually.
3. Move message function does not seem to work i.e. you can delete a message, but you cannot seem to be able to move a message to say an archive folder.
4. The client softeare is not integrated with the "Sounds and Notifications" settings i.e. the balckberry client does not show up under the "sounds and notifications" menu, making it imposible to set any kind of audible, vibrating or flashing light alert when a message comes in. All you have is a very short and quiet "beep" when a new message arrives
I can still browse the web, but some sites are not as assessible as they were under th normal data service. For example, I cannot run he Smartner client anymore. It may be possible to add a second APN for regular data, but TMo tech support put me off trying this as they said it would creat a conflict.
All in all I am pleased with the software as I have now been finally able to retire my RIM ipager and now have everything on one device!
And oh yes, where do you get the software? Its part of the latest O2 ROM image. Download and install 1.72.181 ROM for the O2 myxda website
Hope that helps

Chris
thanks chris,
So to be able to browse the web, Im gonna need the 19.99 data right? I guess thats why the web wasnt working for me, I got the blackberry app to somewhat work but the web was a no go. Thats what I was afraid of, I definitely do not want to add another 19.99 to my plan.
Thanks for confirming the info with me.
Ben
Hi Ben
I am actually able to browse the web using the Blackbery APN (blackberry.net). I also had some success with APN: wap.voicestream.com. TMo have had some network issues recently that have interupted the Blackberry service. I have called tech support and they had to reprovision the account, which fixed the problems. I would give them a call, say you are having issues with web access and then ask them to reprovision the account for you. You should be able to reach most sites. My issues were more with accessing data and relay servers and services (a la Smartner, iAnywhere etc) than regular web sites.
Give that a try and see if that helps. Let me know how you get on

Chris
Ben
One more thing. You may be doing this already, but if not, make sure that you "stop" the blackberry software before you launch internet explorer. That way you will disconnect the blackberry connection and allow the XDA to start a new data connection under either APN: blackberry.net or APN: wap.voicestream.com (whichever you have setto default) Once finished with the internet you can stsrt the blackberry messaging client up again.

Chris
chris,
When u were able to access wap.voicestream.com and the blackberry.net, did you always have the 19.99 data option on your rate plan? I was just using the wap.voicestream.com apn since I only had tzones, but since I'm using the xdaII, I was always able to view html pages. Tmobile has now blocked port 80 if your not paying for the 19.99 data package. So I was just wondering if you always had 19.99 data option.
thanks for the help.
ben
Hi Ben
No, I was able to access it after I switched over to the blackberry plan. They disabled my regular data plan first and then activated the Blackberry plan. Tech support said that I should be able to "access most web sites" which appeared to be correct, aside form some of the network problems TMo had as mentioned earlier.
Regards
Chris
How did you guys get the software on your device? I am thinking about buying an XDA just for this. Right now I have a siemens sk65 coming in but I would love to get back to a pocketpc
Hi StingOr
The Blackberry software client is built into the latest O2 ROM (1.72.181), so if you get the O2 XDA 2 and load that ROM, then you would be good to go.

[Q] Atrix with no data plan and pre paid voice?

Guys I'm totally new to smartphones so I need an advise. I would like to buy myself Moto Atrix but I don't want to buy a data plan for it. I plan on using Rogers pay-as-you-go voice sim card and use wifi for data. Is that even possible on the smartphone? Also I plan on using this phone in europe so question is would a pre paid voice sim work on this phone in europe? Oh and one more question if the voice sim with wifi for data would work would I be able to use all the internet apps on the phone or some would not work over wifi?
Thanks for your time
It is possible and a great way to save money. As long as rogers supports quad band GSM and not CMDA (like verizon), then you can use the voice and texting features of this phone all you wish.
Some things to note:
The phone must be unlocked and have some kind of wifi connection established to set up a motoblur account, (buy a used one not a new one).
Google Maps and navigation will not work unless you can find some kind of cacheing program.
Voice actions will not work, they require the google servers to process your voice.
Rogers may decide to change your service manually if they are like At&t. Check out other GSM networks if they try to do this to you.
Thanks for a quick reply. Now why should I buy a used phone? I think right now new/used prices are close. Also would google maps work in a wifi hotspot? I know that I can't use it unless I'm in the wifi hotspot. The same thing with voice commands souldn't they work as long as I'm in the wifi hotspot? I plan on using CoPilot software on the phone so I guess I wouldn't need any data connection for that right?
Thanks
If you are in a wifi hotspot, your phone will work identically to a phone with a data plan. You must buy it used because to activate moto blur initially, you must have a data connetion (data plan) to sign in, or else it wont let you continue (You cannot enable wifi yet).
Oh I didn't know about motoblur account. Is there a way around that by rooting the phone? What about using my firends sim with data to do that?
I think the process fails and then it'll ask you if you want to connect via wifi..no need for a data connection..

No it's not true. I signed up a motoblur account over the WiFi. I bought mine at costco.com as an upgrade to my original ATT HTC Fuze and I do not have a data plan.
Sean
you can make a blur account on the internet from a real computer
Just add data and quit being cheap. They make basic phones for people who don't see the value in paying for internet.

Was My Account Hacked? And If So--Why?

Sorry to post this here but I wasn't sure where else to ask it ....
Yesterday I got a text message from T-mobile stating that:
"You recently changed the web plan on your T-mobile account. If this was done in error, please go to MyT-Mobile.com"
Needless to say, I hadn't changed ANYTHING on my account. I went to the webpage and saw that an "unlimited data plan" had been added to my account.
When I called to cancel it, all the woman in India could tell me was that someone had added the account via MyT-Mobile.com. She suggested that maybe I had done it accidentally myself by clicking on a text message T-Mobile had sent me offering such a service, but I didn't receive any such message.
If my account was hacked, what benefit would there be for someone to add a data plan to it?
EDIT: There is one other possibility--I don't have a data plan at all. I use my wifi at home and there is free wifi where I work ... Sometimes the wifi at work drops out and I will get an "upsell" webpage from t-mobile, which I just cancel out off ... could I have accidentally hit something on that page that added data to my plan without any further confirmation from me?
Happened to me once on att and I called att and they changed it back.

Thanks for responding. My question for you is: do you know HOW it happened to you? That's my concern--figuring out how it happened so it doesn't happen again.
Change your password & security question if you have not already if your using windows it's a good idea to do a full system virus scan first if you don't use security software I would recommend buying some also make sure your wifi router isn't using wep since that can be hacked instead use wpa or wpa2 and change your wifi password as well to be sure
If it's not a problem with your security it's possible a friend or family member may have gained access to your account by using your computer at one stage or simply guessing details about you or your password or it's reset questions

What benefit do you think someone would gain from adding unlimited data to my account? That's what I can't figure out, and why I think maybe I did somehow accidentally do it myself.

Note 4 Google Account Login Issues - Unable to use phone

Helllo
My father uses a Redmi Note 4 and there a weird issue I ran into.
- The sim card of my father (used on Note 4) got deactivated for some reason and I am now no longer able to recover the number
- The account used to login into Note 4 is my dad's google account and it has 2FA enabled .Now without sim, I have no alternative way to verify code and login. All I have is the first factor - username and password. The recovery email that was given is invalid as well
- So now, coming to the Note 4 part of it - I am not even able to use the phone because I don't have access owner account ( I did a factory reset) tied to the phone (my dad's account)
- Now considering the sim card is not coming back anytime soon (Airtel sucks and I don't expect them to resolve it anytime soon), how can I use the phone now?
- Bootloader not unlocked. Its on stock MIUI
Ok I did some research and it looks like Google FRP needs to be bypassed and this falls under shady territory. I have the bill for the mobile device and also it was bought it my name. If I produce bill and ID at a Xiaomi authorized service center, they will reset the phone for me?

Question Qiestion regarding DCB!

I rooted my phone and i have a spare untouched phone "not unlocked bootloader or anything", here is my question:
If i add my google account on the other phone and insert my sim card on it "the other phone" and add direct carrier billing there will it stick after i return the sim card to my rooted s23 ultra?
Your google account doesn't move when you change sim card neither does account setting or billing setting. The sim card ONLY really has your phone number in it and thats about it in regards to simplicity
You did not get what i meant, carrier billing gets blocked in my rooted phone ok, if i use another phone "clean and not rooted" and login with my google account on it then move my sim card to that phone, then use it to enable carrier billing and then return the sim card to my rooted phone will direct carrier billing still work?

No.....not on the rooted phone. It will work on the non rooted phone ..and when you swap the SIM to the rooted...it will stop working again.
So it won't keep working "i thought it will" did anyone actually try that?!
Carrier billing work just fine on my rooted phone. Probably more carrier related ?
See this exactly why i am asking if someone tried the phone swap to make the google account save the direct carrier billing i tried that on another family member phone same carrier and it worked right away!
I just tried safety net fix on Magisk it worked right away some one close this thread, thanx!
