Hi.
I wirelessly tether between my phone and desktop everyday via the OpenGarden app and lately the connection drops randomly after being successfully connected for 2-3 minutes. Sometimes this is solved from rebooting both my phone AND pc but tonight I had to reinstall OpenGarden AND my wireless usb dongle for my pc and now so far it seems to be fine...but seriously, anyone else having issues similar to this? How do I solve?
Also, anyone know of a RELIABLE wired tethering app I can use that will give me LTE speeds?

When using wireless tether to my laptop the internet keeps disconnecting but im still able to ping google. Ive tried several tether apps and even a different rom but they all have the same problem.
not sure....what radio are you using?
Radio? Im just using the app to turn the phone into a hot spot.
Any ideas?
Iv been having this issue for a few months and I tried searching around, couldnt find anything thats exactly like my problem
anyways, I have tried different versions of wireless tether and stil have this problem
80% of the time I launch the app, and start the tether, my laptop will recognize it and connect for only about 10 seconds. after the 10 seconds, my laptop will disconnect from the phone like the wifi network has been lost for "android_tether"
I have to keep start and end tether and reconnect and disconnect on my laptop's end as well... and finally if I am lucky, after rebooting both devices, it will randomly work without flaws.
what is the issue?... what can I do?...
thank you very much xda.

Which application are you using to wirelessly tehter? are you using any kind of encryption?
If you are running a custom rom there should be a setting under the wireless settings heading where you can activate and deactivate wireless tethering, i use this feature in place of any other tethering application as it seems to work the best with and without encryption.
I didnt had a problem connecting to the internet via wifi in my house... but today it is not working. It does connect to wifi, but when I try to go to a website, it doesn't takes me to it. It works everywhere else, laptop, xbox, but not on my phone. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Maybe your router only supports a limited number of devices and your phone is pushing it over that limit. Also, you could try switching the Wi-Fi frequency band in the Advanced Wi-Fi settings from "Auto" to whichever frequency your Wi-Fi operates on.

Have you rebooted your router by pulling the power cable and then putting it back in place again.
A router will often refuse an Internet connection from a mobile device that regularly disconnects and re-connects all the time. This is normal and happens to laptops for mobile users all the time.

Hi
I'm experiencing some difficulties with mobile hotspot.
I connect to P30 Pro's wifi hotspot with my laptop and try to download something. the process of downloading is laggy. downloading stops every few seconds and then continues on.
it happens in playing online games too. I get disconnected every few seconds.
Is anyone having this issue with their device?

This could be your carrier rather than the phone.
Carriers can restrict or disable the use of the hotspot. Just check that your contract allows for personal hotspot connections.
Other than that, make sure your phone is connecting using 4G (for the mobile network) and not 3G. If it connects using 3G you need to find another location.
Go to settings\wireless & networks\personal hotspot\more\AP band
Change it to 2.5 Ghz or 5Ghz
This should do it.
Fine here, I use it regularly.
I use my Redmi 6A as an Wi-Fi hotspot to use its data on laptop. But since I started doing this, I notice that its hotspot is not working as it should be.
Every once in a while, internet connection goes away, while Wi-Fi stays connected. It happens especially after the laptop is rebooted and Wi-Fi reconnects. If that happens then I'll have to turn off hotspot on my phone and start the hotspot again for the Wi-Fi to work.
I tried to see where the problem is, and I found out these:
1. Wi-Fi stays connected, but no internet.
2. It happens after random period of time after the laptop is connected to the hotspot
3. It also happens when the laptop is rebooted and then it connects again to the hotspot.
4. From the laptop, ping to gateway IP does not work. Ping to any other IP also not work.
5. Turning off and on again the hotspot solves the problem. And then it happens again.
Do anyone else face this problem?
Can anyone tell me why is this happening?
ROM version: 10.3.2.0 Global (Problem was also happening since a few previous versions.)
Laptop: Windows 10, Ubuntu (problem is not in the laptop, because it works fine on other phone's hotspot)
Old thread, but nope. Mine works great and wifi is stable.
