Gorilla Glass 2 on TF700? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Just read this over on theverge.com, Gorilla Glass 2 is now shipping to manufacturers. First Gorilla Glass 2 devices suppose to start hitting in April or May. Perhaps Transformer TF700 will have Gorilla Glass 2?

Yes it will have Gorilla Glass 2.
Anyone know what is different about Gorilla Glass 2?

I saw also. Looking forward to a comparison video. Just stating gorilla glass2 better than original is empty claim without proof. What i do know is that the Prime gorilla glass tuff as a mofo. Had a heavy remote slammed flat against the glass really hard and did no damage at all to it.

and allegedly better touch response

Does this mean phones / tablets can have bigger batteries? If the glass I'd thinner then they can increase battery size! Probably not though lol.

Tougher OR thinner I believe not both. Although it could be 10% thinner and 10% tougher.

I don't get why people complain. Gorilla glass does not mean indestructable. If you drop you phone on concrete and it lands a certain way it may break. Stop dropping your phone is the best solution imo.

the more scratch resistant something is (gorilla glass) the more brittle it is (easier to crack).

Nope.
1) There's no direct correlation between brittle and hard. An advanced material, like Gorilla Glass, *may* be harder and less brittle at the same time compared to regular glass.
2) If I remember correctly, all Gorilla Glass demonstrations of the past involved smashing a small piece with a hammer. Gorilla Glass is definitely less brittle than regular glass.
Again, we do not have gorilla glass

Meanwhile, the weight and size are unusual in part because of its large multi-touch screen with a size reaches 4.3 inches diagonally and getting the same HTC Sensation resolution (540 x 960 pixels). This display is for displaying images in three dimensions without requiring the user to buy special glasses separately, in addition to the glass used is Gorilla Glass, a material highly resistant to both scratches and bump

Why would you state that?
Do you really think after the EVO 4g and EVO Shift they would just stop using gorilla glass on the EVO line?

If it only dropped 2ft. How on earth are there 3 impact spots on the screen? Did you drop it on a bed of spikes?

Glass would be brittle. It is just the nature of ceramic materials.
In this test you talking about. Was the glass suspended by two support point with the impact load being in the middle? Or was the middle slowly being pushed down?
these mobile glass test should be done horizontally normal to a side or corner. to imitate a fall. A normal load from the surface test is for test people punching their phones or a stressful push.
Would anyone here know the density of our screen? Maybe it is the same as the corning glass but from a different manufacture.

TF case like ipad 1?

can someone recommend a case like the ipad 1? I like the thin and still sturty feel. Perfer from amazon.
Or can anyone recommend a good thin and protective case for the transformer?
also need a screen protector.

Have you used one? If so I would think you would be a little less jealous. The magnets and bracket are flimsy so it bends and/or falls off pretty easily. Also in the completely open (bent back) position it doesnt quite fit the ipad right. Also a couple of people Ive known have had the magnetic off/on stop working, one would assume it was an alignment issue.
Its an interesting idea and I can understand they want to stick to the magnets for simplicity but its not the most durable solution.

GLASS on GLASS screen protector

http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/sa...tor-glas-t-premium-tempered-glass-series.html
It's a screen protector that's actually made out of glass.
It's been chemically treated to resist scratches and fingerprints.
Ships out next week.... Was thinking about getting one....
Here's the review for the iphone version of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51flspqzOig
It's 0.5 mm so maybe certain cases won't fit
Maroon, your posts are always of interest, but this screen protector is a stellar find! I will get one, it is the first one that delivers protection with out losing screen clarity and feel. Good find and thanks for sharing.

I wish I waited, well now I am getting a second screen protector.
i saw this last week, great tip!
but i ordered a Zenus Air Capsule. i've heard they are a tight fit, so i wonder if that protector wouldn't work with the Air Capsule. i'd love to hear from someone who has tried it!
Wow...this looks really tempting. Gives me even more reason to wait for the Note to drop further in subsidized price...preferably to $200.
I don't see the point of putting glass on it, it will be just thicker when we are looking for the thinnest screen protector? Right?
I wonder though if the thickness would affect the sensitivity of the pen? Those of u checking this out let us know
it's really good. Thanks for info.

Common misconception.
The screen itself does not detect pressure from the S Pen. It uses electromagnetic resonance. This means that what affects the levels of pressure are in the S Pen itself. The S Pen is powered by resonant coupling to my understanding.
What does this mean for us? Screen protectors of any size.
Try it for yourself. you can draw through cardboard and even hover paper 1cm ABOVE the screen. Scribble on that paper and you'll see that it write below.
Awesome tech
That actually makes sense, thanks for the info. So people who are experiencing s pen problems do u think it is caused more than likely by not calibrating the pen, or by having a faulty pen?

Is the back of C3 S\N is plastic?

I just received my prime today, I have a feeling that the back is plastic the s/n starts with c3, is it plastic?
pretty sure it's aluminium
My C3 feels exactly the same as my BC0KAS and ironically has worse wifi reception so I highly doubt it.
If its cold to touch its aluminum.

http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...cussions/19805-new-tf201-owner-c3-serial.html
To Chrono_Tata, trust me I have a Bachelor degree in Science and still cannot tell if it is Aluminum or plastic by knocking on the back of the Prime. After spending the whole day reading today, no body is saying about plastic back for the TF201 only for the 300 version which is not launched yet. So I have to say may be just may be it is Aluminum.
Mine prime with C3 feels cold on skin. Also it has scratches on it's back and from them I can notice it's aluminum. Also if you scratch it with nail you can also feel that it isn't plastic.
