I'm using my evo and my calendar app is from the kings shooter 3d and it's a great calendar app. When I sync'd the calendar app on my ics photon it only shows some of the things. Pretty much anything I manually put on my calendar isn't coming up. I have the basketball schedule, holidays, and other repeating events showing up, but nothing else. I would like to install the other calendar app so I pulled it off the rom and tried to install, but it wouldn't let it. Does anyone know how I can use the calendar app from my evo rom? Or correct the problem from my current ics calendar app? Thank you
Did you just trying installing the apk? Or did you move it into /system/app folder? If you move to that folder with Root Explorer set permissions and reboot it should work. Dont forget to rename the normal calendar to .apk.bak so if it doesn't work you can just rename it back to .apk and reboot and be back to normal.

I pulled the apk file from the rom and emailed it to myself so it downloaded and I tried to install but it wouldn't let me. Oh ok, I'll try your method. I'll have to read how to set permissions. I have a copy of root explorer and that wouldn't work either, but I have Astro and I was able to edit files with it too, but I would like to get my root explorer working also. Thanks wolf

I tried using a few file explorers even root explorer and none will let me change the name. Root explorer actually says cannot be changed because it is read only. I'm using CM7.2 now. How can I make the files read and writable?

My camera app hasnt worked since 1.5.3 and it really bothers me that i keep getting a FC. I even did a factory reset with no luck so if anyone can send me the file that would be terrific!
you can always just extract it from one of DJ Steves .zips , thats what I did when I noticed mine was missing all of a sudden
Heres you go, place in system/app and set permission the same as other apps in /system
dont forget to my thanks button.

I did everything you told me to do using root explorer. I replaced the camera app with the one you provided in the system/app folder. I'm still getting a forceclose..
I pressed the camera.apk in root explorer and hit install and it said application not installed...

You have first remove old one and the install the app you have downloaded. Use titanium backup to remove old.

So in order to uninstall it with T.B. you have to hit backup and restore and scroll down to the camera app and uninstall? i did that and i uploaded the new .apk to my sd card and it wont let me uninstall from there. I tried moving it to system/app but it says "You cannot paste here because the file system is read-only" so i go to change the permissions of the .apk but the permissions wont save...
deleted my camera app a few days ago
in root explorer, go to root folder(back until you cant go back anymore),
press mount r/w, which mounts the system read/write,
then move the apk to system/app and set permissions the same as other apps in system/app
I set mine to read write execute for everyone
should be good to go after install if not reboot to be sure
also test cam and videocam and take a photo and video to test
let us know if this works

Nice call on the mount r/w. I move it to /system/app/ and set the permissions as the other apps. Then when i tried to install inside of root explorer it says installing..Application not installed. So i rebooted it and the camera app showed up AND IT WAS WORKING WITH CAMERA AND VIDEO!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH its been bugging me forever!! You sir just made my day!
quite simple actually. glad I could help.
cheers.
I know it works on Vegan (and apparently not TnT), but what about stock? Everything works except enabling WiiController IME.
Yes, I believe I remember it working when I first got the device.
So you mention that TnT Lite doesn't support the Wiimote? That's a burn. Where did u read it? I've been trying to make it work for the past 3 days... argh
Not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm using TnT Lite 4.4.0 and I had trouble installing the WiiController IME as well.
The solution that worked for me was posted somewhere around the boards, maybe in the WiimoteController thread [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=672884 ]. It was to use an app like RootExplorer to change the permission and then copy the .apk into the /system/apps folder.
*edit* To be more specific, copy the .apk from the /data/apps folder to the /system/apps folder. And remember to reboot the device for it to show up.

Maybe it's because I'm using TNT-Enhanced (instead of TNT-Lite) but WiimoteController still crashes running from the system/app folder.
I uninstalled the stock clock because I thought that would delete the clock widgets instead. Restoring did not help, so I searched the forum and found this: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070083)
According to the thread, I would need ClockPackage.apk and ClockPackage.odex to get the stock clock back. I have found ClockPackage.apk here, so all I need now is ClockPackage.odex. Could anyone please upload the odex file here, please? Thanks in advance.
Help, please. I'd greatly appreciate any help.
are you on a stock rom? how did you uninstall a system app? Guessing you have root so just put the clockpackage.apk in system/app, give it the right permissions, reboot and it'll be fine (hopefully), the phone should generate a new odex for the apk
Extract those original files from your downloaded "Rom" package and copy it to your mobile. Use root explorer to copy the file to system\app and set the right permissions.

Yes, it is rooted. Also, I did put the apk file in system/app and I got the app back on the application menu. However, it crashes whenever I try to run it.

Have you set the right permissions in root explorer for the apk?

I did not downlaod any rom so I think I am still on stock rom. What permission do I need to set?
Hej,
So I try to push the musicplayer.apk in the system/app folder with terminal, that works as I reboot but it's not installed. but it's in the folder system/app and rw-r-r... do I have to instal it from the system/app folder? or should it automaticly instal it when it reboots?
what am I doing wrong?
grts,
lio
Try installing it normally by transferring apk file to sdcard and installing it using some file explorer, then move the apk from /data/app to /system/app using root explorer and set the permissions to match with those of the other apps

If I try to install it, it says "app not installed". I'll look for a better apk. you know where to find default apps for sgs2? I just like the MusicPlayer.apk from the stockrom. it can sort by folder and it's easy to use!!
and a little question, can I get notifications in my email if someone replies or sends me a message on xda or something. cause I have to check it post by post...
oke found a good musicplayer!!! Mortplayer! it's free and maybe even better...
thanks!!!
I have a rooted Verizon GS4 and am trying to install an apk as a system app using ES File Explorer. I have root enabled in ES but when I copy the apk from my sd card so system/app I get "permission denied". What am I missing?

Did you grant read write privileges?
Edit:
Nevermind they changed up the layout and settings I do see what youre talking about tho. Its gotta be something witb ESFM because I can paste something to system with root explorer no problem..

I believe so. Root Explorer is "on" and Mount R/W permission is set as Path/ =RO, /persdata/absolute=RW, /system=RW, /firmware-mdm=RO.
Does that sound right?
OK, I went ahead and bought "Root Explorer" and was able to copy the Calendar apk into the system/app folder. But I still can't get it to install. system/app is mounted as R/W but when I tap on the apk and run "install" it says "application not installed" every time. Any ideas why? FWIW, the apk is "SecCalendar_NAmerica_SPen.apk" and should be the apk for the stock Calendar app.

The not installing is normal, see what permissions another system app has, apply the same.to the one youre copying. Reboot and it should work.

OK, I'm now stumped. I've changed permissions and "owner" so it's identical to all other .apk's in the system/app folder. But after rebooting it still isn't installed. It looks right in the system/app folder, but the application is not in my app drawer. (No icon, widget, etc.) Any other ideas?
I know this is old but I'm having the same problem. The file is Read Only and I can't figure out how to change the path so that I can copy it to system/app.
Thank you
