Using 3G dongle on TF-201 - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Tablets powered with Android 4 supports a large number of 3G modems:
Huawei E156G
Huawei E173
Huawei E220
Huawei E1750
ZTE MF637U
These are modems that are tested. Other modems might work as well.
To setup your modem follow the instructions below:
Go to settings (press the status bar in the low right corner) and press <More...> and you will see the following:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Select <Mobile networks> and you will get this screen:
Select <Access Point Names>. when you come to the Access Point Page you click in the top right corner and select <New APN>.
This is the tricky part where you fill in the GSM operators settings. You can find settings for the most popular networks here. If your operator is not included you will have to ask the operator. The screenshot below shows the settings for Safaricom, Kenya:
When all settings are filled in press the arrow in the lower left corner and you are done.

Care to elaborate a bit? I tried and did not have much success, did you? If so can you please post some pictures of it working?

running stock rom, rooted
9.4.2.15
also showing tethering & portable hotspot =/

Sorry 2all
Sorry to all this will not work. I take that manual from other site. It say Andtoid 4 3G Setup (original link in #1 post). I test it my self. No success.
Than i unpakced firmware to find out files like (gprs, pppd-ril.options, usb_wwan.ko, etc), some of them presents in firmware, others dissmised.
So the only way getting 3G via dongle, is custom firmware.

Well if u have to use 3g/data connection outside wifi range just use your cellphone as a wifi hotspot. Most people carry a cell and most of todays phones can do this

thanks, i know how to go to web via phone by changing wpa_suplicant2 file. But i want to connect via dongle.

I dont know how real this is, I have rooted my TF201 and no where do I see the mobile network on a stock rom, I have it on my phone yet I dont have it here, and also there would have to be drivers for the USB modem to be entered, this isnt a simple task, the only one i have found is in the UMTS app from the market, and even then this doesnt work, I just want a USB modem installed, I dont want to use my phone as the WIFI defeats the purpose of having a USB modem, surely someone has done this on a stock rom

Anyone get tethering to work under ICS?

Seems like under honeycomb I could connect to my phones tether easily. Did the upgrade last night and now I can't connect. Just sits at obtaining IP address.
I was running a older 2.x build of it, so went to the homepage and tried 5 different versions on 3.x beta.x and none of them helped the situation.
Any others?
sh*t sorry, I don't know how I was in this forum! Please move!
I just moved and my cable and internet has not been hooked up yet so I have been using my phone to tether and it works everytime. I stopped usuing wi fi tehter app it doesnt seem to work anymore. I have been using open garden and it worked last night to update my transformer. Then it connected as soon as it rebooted with no problems.
#1 Love when people post in the wrong place!
#2 When they ask to have it moved afterwards!
You do know you can click the little image that looks like this

I have already done this for you!

open garden doesnt work either... the prime doesnt even see it as a wifi network
I've been using Bluetooth tethering and it still works after the ICS upgrade.
how do you get bluetooth tethering to work? I can't get it...
n/m i got it using open garden, and it opened up the sprint hotspot thingie and I had to check enable...which is weird...but it works.
I guess screw WIFI tether
I have a rooted Verizon 4G Samsung Charge. Was using Open Garden Wifi with no problem since I received my Transformer Prime.
Wifi Analyzer on Prime finds the wifi network but It doesnt show up at all in Wireless and Network settings. FML

For those using Open Garden Wifi, what frequency channel, transmit power, and LAN network settings are you using?
I have even tried Barnacle now with no luck~!
I have a Droid 2 with mobile hotspot feature. Using Auto-Tether makes it real simple and quick to switch it on remotely from the TP and connect. I've had no problem under HC and still no problem under ICS.

Mobile data is not getting connected in S3. Please Help!!!

Hi all,
Mobile data (2G) is not getting connected properly in my new Samsung galaxy S3 (ICS). I use Tata Docomo.
As soon as I restart my phone I am able to connect to mobile data for sometime and then if I disconnect it or if it automatically disconnects then I am not able to connect to mobile data after that. The "E" symbol does not appear on notification bar. Its like just one time using of mobile data per restart of the phone. So I need to restart the phone if i want to connect again
Even after selecting "Use Packet Data" in settings, the status of "Mobile network state" is "Disconnected" under the Settings -> About device -> Status. But WiFi works without any problem.
I have installed the internet setting which was sent through message by Tata Docomo.
Please help me what could be the problem here.
I am feeling so sad for not being able to use internet properly in my new phone :'(

Wong thread dude. Q&A
If you have stock and your packet data is on without use 2g networks only, they may have given you some wrong settings..
Failing that do a factory reset to see if that works

You would never get an answer here coz thats a known issue with Tata Docomo and not your handset. Tata Docomo at regular intervals disable your Cellular Data which they says is to ensure your data pack does not get depleted due to your leaving ur data on by mistake. Silly huh? More interesting it does not get automatically connected to the network
However i have found fix for it. Just select Network Type as Automatic(2G+3G). Wheneve data gets disconnected, If your using 2G, select 3g Network of Docomo and then select 2G network of Docomo. And vice versa if your using 3G. It should start your data after 10-15 seconds of doing the above 2 steps.

[Q] How does android determine if it has internet connectivity

Question is as exactly as it is in the title; how does Android come to the conclusion that it has complete internet connectivity (or connection to google services), and consequently will turn the signal bars blue (on stock android devices).
I am trying to fix a problem at work where if I put my phone on the company wifi, my phone never seems to think it has internet connectivity, even though I do. The consequence is most apps don't attempt to pull new data, and therefor never notify me of new messages. This includes gmail, google voice, and hangouts.
I don't have direct control of the network infrastructure at the moment, so right now it is easier to know what address or IP it tries to get to, and how (ping?), so it can be unblocked by the firewall or web filter.

check your settings>wireless & Networks> WIFI>check Network notification this will inform you when there are other open wifi networks present > you need to connect to that network with password or scroll down to add WIFI network (you can add any network when you know its SSID and security used.
if you unchecked network notifications, you will " NOT" know or use of any new networks other than what you have used before.

I'm not having any issues finding or connecting to wifi, the problem is at my buisness when on wifi, android does not detect an internet connection; so it thinks I just have local network access, so most apps do not auto refresh in the background.

[Q] How do you "Forget" out-of-range Wi-Fi networks???

I've looked all over the place, but there does not appear to be a method to "Forget" a Wi-Fi connection unless you are in range of the Access Point. Does anyone know where the S6 stores all the saved Wi-Fi connection profiles? They do not appear under Settings -> Wi-Fi, that only shows you the ones that are currently in range, not your previously saved profiles.
I'm asking because I'd like to delete all the unsecured APs I've connected to in the past, due to the recent kepboard security bug announcement. I don't want to accidentally go in range of a stored unsecured network and put my phone at further risk.
I'm answering my own question. I had to go out and download a 3rd party Wi-Fi manager app in order to display the saved out-of-range networks. Why this functionality is not built into the stock OS is beyond my wisdom.
Not sure why it doesn't work on yours, but on my S6 Edge (Verizon) I can go into settings, wifi, more, manage networks, and then long-press any entry and select "forget".
Same problem here, on unlocked and fully updated S6. There's no "manage networks" available in the Settings->Wi-Fi->More menu. Had to use 3rd party app to forget the networks...

Better to just get used to it, or go with a different manufacturer, the direction Samsung has been going the last couple years screams iPhone. Just look at how they built the s6, s6 edge. It's only a matter of time before everything they make will be running tizen.

Just my opinion but I think the S6 is the best Galaxy they've made, both hardware and software. Very few issues with my S6 apart from this wifi network management.
I just wish they would release a Gear S2 running Android Wear instead of Tizen...
I downloaded the WiFi Manager app and when I try to delete an old Wifi network, my S6 gives me an error message that says that WiFi networks can only be deleted from the app they were created in, which means it can only be deleted in Samsung's own WiFi Settings screen
The WiFi Manager third party app has an option to list Known Networks. Touching one brings up the option to forget it.
Unfortunately all you get under Nougat is a message that Android 6 only allows changes by the app that created the entry.
If the network is within range you can go to Settings / Connections / WiFi, touch a memorized network, and options come up including "Forget." But only if it's within range.
To forget "linksys", which my S7 insists on connecting to wherever it finds one, I took an old wifi router, configured it with the SSID "linksys", and was then able to see and forget it in Settings / Connections / WiFi.
It shouldn't be this hard.
?
This is the Method: Suppose you want to forget wifi network (test) Create a hotspot of another phone named (test) Security type>Wpa2 Passwork:12345678 Now turn on your s6 wifi Click forget enjoy

Possible to connect to wifi AND cellular data at same time?

Hi all. I have a new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV s-edition 2017, who got app control through wifi spot from car. However, the wifi range is horrible, so I was wondering if you guys know of any phone that can be connected to both wifi net (without internet) and same time connected to internet through cellular data (3g or 4g)
What I want:
Have a phone in car, connected to the cars wifi net (no internet) and through perhaps an app like airdroid, connect to that phone, and that way connect to the car through internet.
I have tried this with honor 7, but this so called smart phone, either is on wifi with no internet, or cellular data with internet. It will not work on both nets at same time.
Is the any android phone this would work on, or is there any workaround/hack to make this work. Surely, this has to be possible?
-Thanx, Ray

If your android running on marshmallow then there is a option in developer setting of cellular data always active. Turn that feature on and connect to mobile data and wifi simultaneously.
Ashwinirg answered the question, but I want to throw in that there are services, like Speedify, which claim some sort of "channel bonding" that merge your WiFi with your data connection to enhance your speed. I have no idea if Speedify or similar services actually work, but if you're interesting in enabling wifi + cellular data together, you might want to look into those services also.

Don't know if it is available in android nougat but it may be it available on marshmallow then it also available in Nougat..
Update:
So I bought myself a Lenovo p2, cause of its bigger battery, but it seems like it's not able to go between cellular data and wifi seamlessly like honor 7 did. It got the same options in developer mode, but it's not working.

Certain apps work if set right. It's kind of like downloading a torrent. Multiple connections work together to transfer the same file resulting in much faster speeds.
