Please post Questions like this in the Q&A or General forum.
Edit I am num I thought this was in the dev forum sorry.
Thanks! Ill give this a shot... Apologize for not searching more thoroughly.
Did you try the dx2BSR.apk?
No, dont know anything about that .apk lol
I pasted the files and set the permissions appropriately and powered off then plugged in to wall and CWR in. Since I dont know of any roms I just did a backup and rebooted.
Are you 235 or 236?
oh sorry... 2.3.6
Need 235 for wifi on our 235 roms. Most roms don't do a kernel check. Do my Miui nandroid of Ace's rom. One guy did it but no wifi . You could hack in the needed 236 sys apk but if the problem is in system/framework forget it.
Do Eclipse you would get more help hacking the wifi.
What sort of hack? Im kinda reluctant to take many chances being this is a work phone. If it was mine I could take it back to CSpire as I bricked a Milestone X a few months back and had no problems with a warranty exchange
Do eclipse you can just nand back. Some in that thread may come up w/ a fix. IDNK. IT would be trial & error for me . I'm no Dev.
Thanks for you prompt replies and help...
Just wanting to be 100% sure... So I can flash Eclipse 2.1 from where I stand now or I need to restore to your MUI nand first then Eclipse?
Post in their thread. Just one at a time. Eclipse is 235. While Miui is 234. When eclipse was 234 a mx2'er did it on 235 and all was good but wifi.
BE SURE and flash ReRecovery b4 you leave cwr if you wipe data or flash a rom as you have no sbf . Read all my thread.
Thanks again for your help, It was easy to just follow steps with the desire but motorola has crap so locked down, its made me a bit more cautious and active these last couple days lol. Ill pay more attention courteously with the posts
EDIT: Oh so now with cwm loaded all I have to do now is flash the rerecovery zip instead of copying & pasting and setting permissions? Thats what I want sure about earlier.
The zip does the same as you did (or the apk) but from cwr. Do you have a sbf? You are really putting RR to the test (relying on it) if you don't.
No sbf. Dunno where to get one.

So be sure to do the BU, data wipe, Flash RR and restore testing in the mx2 section.

2.3.5 Milestone x2 nandroid wanted.
How to make one (all from the same cwr session):
1>Backup your current rom.
2>To protect yourself wipe data, cache & dalvik (adv menu) (lots of info in there)
3> then flash ReRecoveryDx2 not the cm7 ver (cuz u just wiped recovery also )
>Install zip from sd>choose zip from ext sd
4>then bu the nandroid for upload
5>and finally restore the 1st BU (step 1) Note this step will restore your recovery also cuz it's in the bu so you could skip 3 but if something goes wrong it's a precaution.
This method will ensure that none of your personal data will be uploaded-it will be just like an out of the box phone.
Note the dates to distinguish one from the other also the wiped one will be smaller. Look inside the folder data.img will be very small.
Please include the md5 from file info before zipping.
Zipping on a pc can cause problems . Zip it with Root Explorer if possible but ES file may be just as good and free.
You can create a RS free account for uploading. http://www.rapidshare.de/
Dead or Alive?
Sorry, I am of no help here, but I couldn't resist myself... Hopefully you'll get what you wanted from someone else!
Cheers! Don't hate me
Do you carry the burden of having been Melvined?

I'll do it ASAP.
Edit: Damn, didn't realize it would be almost a gig in size. Considering my slow ass upload, its gonna take a while.
Zip it first. But use your phone not pc. Will that be 236? I would prefer 235 as we do not have a 236 kernel for the Dx2.
I tried and tried to see if my carrier had a MX2 with 2.3.5 but all of their stock is 2.3.6 unfortunately. I am not sure how that works if they immediately takes the phones out and update them or what.
I'll try a 236 please.
It may work on a 235 kernel.

dang, what are you going to use it for if i may ask?

Hint
In restoring a 235 bu while on our 235 kernel (& more a lot of network & radio) I may get a better final rom than our leaked ota. Since I'm not messing w/ the things that only a sbf does I should be able to restore back. Also any network issues could be restored by Qpst.
I am certainly NOT a dev but learning about hacking. ReRecovery, while there are many who are ignorant about it, was/is a fruitful project.
So I may end up w/ a polished nandroid for our phone!
Btw here is more of jbzcar's drama http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20908482&postcount=39

come on guys, where are all the Milestone X2 users? This guy wants a nandroid of your current 2.3.5/2.3.6 ud and he's even spelled out how to erase your data so that your data isn't compromised. He's wants to use it for the Droid X2 community and could really use your help in this. Thank you! contact the OP for any questions, nandroids, or whatever.
We have a 236 on the way thanks to 754boy. But a 235 will give us a match to our newest kernel. Thanks ztotherad.

Ok, finally done uploading. Here's the 2.3.6 Nandroid BU. I wiped it first and zipped it on my phone as requested.

If anyone needs anything else, lemme know and I'll do what I can
All went well but, wifi error on our 235 kernel. I think all else works!
WE NEED A 235 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
THANK YOU 754BOY!
I wiped all 3 and flashed RR.dx2.
On it now. With 235\412.
Which has the larger kernel number 412 or 413?

For starters, you'll need to sbf to 2.3.4 before thinking about flashing liberty. Look in DX2 development for the thread, I can't link you from here.
Assuming all that works out you'll want to:
Root your device using Pete's Root Tools
Install bootstrap recovery
Put the Liberty ROM on your external sd card
Boot into recovery
Wipe Dalvik, Cache, and data
Scroll down to "install zip from SD card" the hit the liberty file
Let it install, go back to the main screen, reboot and bam, you have liberty.
That is a rather general outline. I can provide more details in bursts if you need them.

Yea, thats the first thing you always do. Make a backup and store it some place safe. THEN start experimenting lol.
Ok, got the backup made, flashed Eclipse 2.2.1. I like this much better than stock. Last night I was tinkering with it and installed Supercharger v6 script on it. I ran several different options and then after restarting, it was constantly on roaming for data. It was fine before, I flashed my backup back onto it and re did everything. It is back to normal. Does anyone know why it would be on roaming. Thanks for being patient with a new guy. People on here are a great help

Also, how did you do your back up? Im wanting a custom ROM on mine but I have no ABC if all foes bad and I'm not sure I could do a Nandroid.

Thanks soo much. Got a backup finally! Now to figure out how to install a custom ROM
2.3.6 Rom?
Skinzaholic:
I have a MX2 which belonged to my brother (a technologically inept moron who took the 2.3.6 update). I was finally able to gain root yesterday, and since then I've been looking for a custom rom to get rid of motoblur. Everything I've read about eclipse says that it's for 2.3.4/2.3.5 only, and will not work for 2.3.6. When you flashed it, was it fully functional for you?

All great advice. Just remember you bsr is trash when you wipe system OR data!!
Or even the rom fails to boot. Almost anything can upset bsr on the quaint Dx2. Or the Mx2 same phone ReRecovery works on it also.

Also all Roms work on 2.3.6. The down side is it is not downgradable. Check out the mx2 folder in my android crap folder. The link is in my signature. I kept the zips for several Roms in there. If the gapps aren't there Google for them.

Sorry to hear that. You need to "roll your own" see the latter portion of the 3rd post.

Did you sbf and take the latest OTA? The current version of the Eclipse will function only on that version of gingerbread.
yes but ill try it again just to back track my steps. I have factory reset had to sbf after Miui and before. I always sbf and wipe no matter what I do I am kind of OCD and have to start new Ill give it a go right now.
I have also tried new SD cards as well. I have been messing with dev. for a while so I know a lot about it I also read everything and more before I do anything (OCD) Been working on my A100 and its been easy and was easy flashing Miui dont know what I missed

If you are trying to flash Eclipse 2.2.1, you must be on the OTA 2.3.5 (418) build. Also, you have to root 2.3.4 and backup root using Voodoo before updating to 2.3.5.
and remove voodoo's su backup, before flashing eclipse
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Latest official is 418. Latest eclipse won't work with 412. That could be the problem.

I'll remove voodoo but I DL Eclipse that was with the 412 file in the same thread unless I did not see It right. I tried to flash this a week ago and had to stop messing w/it I was editing band pics in PS & LR so I just now picked it up again. I DL the Blur version 412 should I kick that to the curb and DL 418? I was under the impression that the GBP7v0.5 would work with 2.3.5 412 though if so that would not flash as well

Correct me if I am wrong Eclipse did work with that version at one time or no? I saw Eclipse 3.0 but have not read the forum yet and I have been working on my Acer tab more. When I was on 2.3.4 I had no issues with Miui I had to sbf to 2.3.4 from OTA Leak 2.3.5 b/c I was not to fond of that rom at that time I will flash it at another time. I really dig the Eclipse Rom so if I need to start ov and it looks that way then I will have to read up on everything so I know what I am doing and not half assing it. I hate doing that.

I saw the 3.0 version for the Bionic and I have 418 DL now I am going to read some and flash the 418 and try Eclipse then if all is good take care of voodoo and hope it works. However I have some reading to do before hand. I am sure if it foes not go right I'll complain about it even if it is an operator error I'll still have to blame my DX2 for any errors. I think thats how it works

Edit: See post below.
You don't even need voodoo anymore. Just take ota and root using motofail.

LaserChicken, those steps are incorrect!!
In order to flash eclipse 2.2.1 just do this...
-SBF to 2.3.4
-Root using Petes 1 click method
-Download VooDoo OTA Rootkeeper from play store
-Backup root & TEMP UNROOT (do not delete backup yet!!!!!!! )
-Settings>About Phone>Software Update> DOWNLOAD 2.3.5 OTA
*After downloading 2.3.5 from system settings the phone will reboot to stock recovery and install 2.3.5 kernel.*
-Reboot
-Open VooDoo, restore root
-NOW DELETE SU BACKUP FROM VOODOO
-Once you restore root & delete the backup < IMPORTANT! from voodoo you should be able to flash eclipse from BSR
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
Straight from nitro in another thread. Sbf, take ota, root via motofail, install bsr and flash eclipse then profit. So much easier than the previous method.

Hi, my name is Travis, I've been a verizon slave since 2009 with the bb storm. Moved to a droid then x and x2. I'm currently on an incredible 2 and I hate it. Through much push and pull, I got to keep my service on the incredible and also keep an x2 along with a free extended battery.
I rooted 2.3.5 on the x2 and now looking into roms. My software learning curve isn't steep so I thought I'd send a shout out to the devs and members here. Looking into finding a great rom for the x2 withing the next few day.
Oh yeah, I'm leaving in a month for basic in the AF, going into cyber surety(basically legal hacking) and looking forward to it.
Thanks for reading, I'll be around!
Welcome. Every one here is awesome and will help if you need it.
Most all x2 roms are built on 2.3.4
Eciplse is on 2.3.5 though, and is a very good, stable rom.
If you want more excitement than try some of the ics, cm9 based roms. Just know that they are buggy and being worked on. Aokp, paranoid android, and of course cm9.
Cm7 is much more stable then th ics builds and could easily work as a Daily driver.
Good Luck.

I was thinking about the eclipse rom, It looks really nice. It will take a bit. I'm still reading and this forum is huge. I haven't found the "how to" thread yet on roms. Sure I'll find it. Thanks for the warm welcome.
I would check out the Cm7 rom thread. It has some good links to the guides you want as far as sbf, root, nandroid backup and bsr(aka cwm recovery).
Eclipse won't let you down.
If there is anything I can help you with, then don't hesitate to pm me.

Welcome aboard sir, and as an AF vet good luck with your service and thank you for stepping up.
As for roms you will find much more action happening with the 2.3.4 build as others have already mentioned. CM7 & 9, PA, AOKP are all based on 2.3.4.
You will absolutely want to find the "How to SBF" thread and get setup for doing an SBF. To my knowledge no dx2 has ever been "hard bricked" but "soft bricking" can and does happen which means SBF is your salvation as of course is nandroid backup. And my last piece of advice would be to make a nandroid backup of 2.3.4 Stock/Rooted, particularity if you are a"flashaholic" as some of us are on here...lol
Anyway welcome to the friendliest forum on XDA.

+1 for eclipse since it is the most stable and sounds like you wont have much time for figuring out any bugs that may occur on the ICS based Roms since you will be serving our country lol. Good luck, and thanks.
Wow. Thanks for all the warm wishes and thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'll be sure to post back about my Rom upgrade.
I like cm7 for the customizations, I have used eclipse for awhile and it's fantastic as well but i always find myself floating back to cm7. Just curious, there seems to be great roms for the dinc2, what about it did you not like?

After rooting, protecting root with voodoo, and temp unrooting:
Just take the OTA update to 2.3.5 by going to System Updates in Settings-About Phone. Then restore root using voodoo and delete backup.

System update is the easiest way but to answer your question yes you can just use rsd to get on 2.3.5 b418 because 2.3.5 is now rootable. You don't have to do the long method via voodoo ota rootkeeper any more.

Wow I feel like I've been struggling for nothing. I was already on a rooted version of 235
I also want to ask about the eclipse pack, it should be an unzipped file on my sd card correct? I'm reading around and I see "zipped" and "unzipped." This is my first rom so I need to be sure.
Thanks again.

If you have already SBFed and are going to do it that way then yes. Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317707 for any future questions about SBFing or just ask. If you are already on 2.3.5 then there is no need to sbf because you can just root 2.3.5 now.

All flashable roms should be a. Zip file on your sd card. Don't unzip the rom file.

Yup just leave it zipped and placed on sd card not in a folder. Boot into system recovery and "install zip from sd card."
Thanks, going to try this out!
Grrr. I'm getting
E:signature veridication failed
Installation aborted
WAIT WAIT, don't tell me. I can figure it out. I'll post back soon
Thanks
