Update rollout via Zune is staged meaning not every phone gets the update on the same time. The rollout period is two weeks and started on Jan 19th. You will receive it in the end. There is a 'hack' to get it sooner, put it requires some patients as timing is critical, search for 'disconnect trick'. Good luck.
Thanks. Yes I remember this old trick of disconnecting at the right time, I'm going to wait on this one
You have the same phone as me (UK unlocked & unbranded). The line you don't understand basically means it's a UK variant.
For the mid December update, I waited to get it, took over a week. This time I did the disconnect method and got it on release day.

Hi Rusty, I havn't got the update yeat and I have a UK unlocked Lumia 800. BUT I am wondering on another note. I joined GG last wek and it seems good. I inputted the APN info so I can get on the net but I cant send MMS. I am going to write up a new thread for this now. Can you use MMS and if so how so?
Thanks.
I've not tried, but I'm assuming I cant, as most people on pretty much every carrier cant
Sadly Giffgaff is not included in the Network Setup app either, so we're boned.
Thanks for getting back. Will have to wait and see than. Just don't know why MSFT can't give us this

Exactly in the same situation as OP. I tricked it in zune but i only recieved the OS update and i havent been able to get the firmware update.
Black lumia 800 rm-801
Very strange. I have a stock Lumia straight from Nokia (no branding, unlocked) and I got both the OS and firmware update in one go the day after release. I had to do the disconnect trick though...
I've tried 3 times. I got the OS update automatically on day one. I restored to 7740 and tried again. Still OS only. Tried a few days later and got the same thing.
Waiting up to 8 more days for firmware.
I am still waiting for the 11500 update as well and I sincerely hope Nokia have done something to improve the woefull bass output.
Sent from my Lumia 800 using Board Express
Still waiting for the firmware update. I got the OS update a few days ago and my mate got the firmware and OS the same day. Only difference is his is the black lumia 800 and mine is the Cyan lumia 800
Mine is cyan as well. Did ur mate notice any differnce to sound? We are hoping for more bass
Sent from my Lumia 800 using Board Express
The bass on mine and his seems fine. We both have the monster purity earphones.

Thanks, Lets hope they fixed it. It is just crap on mine, can't use it at all as music player specially as I loke loads of bass. I use winstone 4 and the sound is a disgrace for Nokia.
Can someome point me to a thread/post where the disconnect method is described?
Click update, after a couple of seconds, pull your ethernet cable/disable your net connection and if you timed it right, you'll get the update.
Still no FW update, but I have updated my OS with the disconnect-trick in Zune. Will I still get the FW or not trough Zune?

I originally did the disconnect trick and the only update I got was for the OS. I tried again and again using the disconnect trick but I could not get the firmware update.
Then my friend got the update for his Black Lumia 800 which contained the firmware update as well. So I restored my Cyan Lumia 800 to the previous version. The very first boot up of my phone said there was an update available but it was only for the OS, no firmware.
I tried the disconnect trick again but I still can't get the firmware update.
Hopefully we will all get it this week.

Good news! Nokia have released a statement saying they will be releasing another update to fix both the sound and camera.

I tried the disconnect method but can't get working. I switch to Airplane mode, plug the phone, go to update page on Zune. Do the same again and disconnect at various time but no luck.
I have already the 8107 OS update
Late, but finally update 12070 has arrived on the Lumia 800 for Orange/T-Mobile users, so start updating and if you're on the Singapore FW, I suggest you recover from backup and update.
Stupid Orange/T-Mobile, always late.
Still no update
Still no update for me
I have an unbranded Lumia 800 cyan from Phones4U on Orange but no update available in Zune despite Nokia Europe saying that it's available for my model (059M539 Country Variant). I swapped my Orange sim for a Vodafone sim to see if that did anything. . . nothing. recovered a backup in Zune and updated the OS again, but still no Firmware update to 12070.
If it doesn't come soon I'll take it to Nokia Care next time we're in Glasgow as this battery life is terrible (although seemed slightly better on the Vodafone sim!)
I didn't really want to start looking at the other methods I've seen of updating Just wanted to get it officially in Zune!
On searching the issue, I've seen a lot of users of 059M539 code have also not been getting the upgrade.
Same here, same model nr. Cyan Lumia from Phones4U, Orange Sim, also from Glasgow.
Oddly enough I have the latest OS version, just not the latest firmware version. Now that the volume bug is fixed I'm tempted to force a flash bypassing Zune.

Cyan models are delayed for some reason, but it should have arrived by now. Get in contact with Phones4U, see if they have any dates, since it is a batch of theirs.
Got sick of waiting so I used the update tool
Initial findings, it has improved the battery, can easily get a full day even with quite a lot of use!

I've never heard of retailers blocking updates before? However, it does seem possible as I'm seeing several reports of that specific product no not updating. Note that Nokia specifically lists it as having an update available since pretty much day 1 of the firmware being made public. I've posted a query on P4U's forum. Should have known better than to buy from those muppets, but they were the only ones at the time that had the cyans. Someone I know wants the white Lumia 710, but it's another P4U exclusive
mlaidlaw, did you update directly to 12072 with the volume bug fix, or still 12070?

Yep, I mocking how the blue plastic makes my phone somehow ineligible for software updates.
On a more serious query, does having an Orange Sim in my unbranded model phone mean that Orange still has to approve my firmware versions? I'd assume that Carriers only have a say over their branded variants?
I'm still baffled how a specific subset of a particular product code (a product code that has had the upgrade available from the day of announcement according to the Nokia sit) is being left behind? Apple really does get some things right, not letting the Carriers dictate software updates.

Yes, Nokia pushed the update, but Orange (one step further) blocked it again It's possible... Unfortunately.

IMPORTANT If You Try the Disconnect Trick..
Make sure your phone has Wifi OFF and Cellular Data OFF before.
I had almost bricked my phone trying to cab Tango since for some reason the language packs would not install; but then installed Navifirm files updated to Tango by renaming another product's code to match mine, and since the language packs were now resolved, I went ahead and cab'd the Nokia firmware update. This weekend with 7.8 on the horizon and perhaps other updates coming sooner (8779?), I didn't want a walshed phone, so got the 8107 Mango files for my product code (059L7C2) from NCS Data Package Manager, refurbished then went back to Zune to do the Tango update.
After many tries, was not having any luck, even though the Nokia site showed my product 059L7C2 as being available, not to mention at least two others with my same product code reporting the disconnect trick working..
Someone else posted on another thread about turning WIFI and DATA off as a first step. Once I did, after one or two tries the update finally came up.
After the first step - installing 8112 - I had to use the same disconnect to get the update for 8773. Again, with the two items turned
off, there was no trouble at all, the update came right up after I pulled the Ethernet cable.
Once 8773 installed, Zune picked up the Nokia firmware update immediately (no disconnect) so I am finally now running Tango.

Bypass carriers, yes. Bypass OEMs, no
This should mean that we get a 920 update for each "build" of the 920 that exists, once Nokia does whatever they do to it. They should have it from Microsoft (one would think) already.

They will have it already, and it's in Nokia's interests to get it out fast and ideally beat HTC to the punch every time, as HTC have been set up as Premier Partners. Nokia want to be THE choice for WP8 buyers, so they need to be there first with the best reputation for updates and excellent hardware.
Nokia obviously has that build available because the Lumia 920T (the chinese variant) is already running that newer build of the OS.
true, must just be waiting for the rollout ok from carriers. I'll check my 8X to see if that's updating on EE, that way we should know if the carriers are slowing things down or not with a quick carrier vs unlocked update speed comparison.
(Groan) I hope it's not the carriers. Pulling teeth with oily fingers is easier than persuading AT&T to release updates in a timely manner. :\

how do you know what rom is a generic one? I have been searching but i haven´t find it yet. can you help me'

Adding to that, does 4G still work on the generic UK ROM, as EE has 4G specific software bits, e.g. the 3G/2G toggle is now the 4G/3G toggle.
So, since I have a Rogers branded but unlocked phone and running it on Telus, what bucket would I be put in? Would I get the generic updates or the Rogers? My phone STILL says that the Mobile Operator Name is ROG-CA, so I'm not too sure what to make of my situation.

You will be under the mercy of Rogers. In order to get out of Roger's grip, you will need to be de-branded. SIM unlock means nothing. In the old days of WM7.0, you can jailbreak your phone and edit a registry to de-brand. Now, you pretty much have to flash a unbranded ROM to do it.

Well it doesn't have the name of a mobile network in the filename. I went from one with EE and UK in the filename to one which just says CV GB.
Guys,
I get this update;
https://imgur.com/a/nd7Ac3S
https://imgur.com/a/EO0jokj
Im just new / noobie haha at this Huawei. But can somebody confirm for me if this has an issue or a throttle about the system updates?
I dont see any kind of Branding of the carrier, also dont see an splash screen at the startup of an carrieer.
Because I dont want being restricted by the carrier about the update policy of my carrier.
I'm afraid that this is an issue that if the update comes to example to the Netherlands or UK, so that the people without this ("branded-isch") carrier thing (forexample in Netherlands) will get the update early then the people who has this Carier/branded thing...
If I put an other SIMcard like forexample Vodafone, this will not popup, Only popup with the T-mobile simcard, it makes sense because I bought it at T-mobile.
Why Im making wories is because before I went to the Tmobileshop, I bought the phone without an contract at the Mediamarkt (Techshop) and put the same SIMcard in it what I have right now, and there it doesn't any thing popup what it does right now;
I just wanna to be sure otherwise I wanna cancel my contract and gonna get an other mate 20 pro without this being branded.
Is this phone now being branded?
Sounds very similar to what I have with my network in the UK which is '3'.
My phone was purchased from them on contract and is a dual sim version.
When I first but my sim in it said there was a software update available. It turns out it's just a carrier custom update which adds a splash screen and some selected apps. From previous experience with Huawei updates it seems they do not release updates here until all the carriers here approve the update which can obviously cause delays. As such I have chosen to not install the update in the hope I will soon get offers the latest 146 update. I don't know if this will actually work or not but here's hoping.
The phone keeps downloading the update but I just go into the software updater app and delete the data.

Yeah this is annoying me also... I have tweeted three & got the usual 'We customise it to give the best experience', but when I then asked about being removed from this update channel as the one they're pushing is an older version than what's already installed & I'd rather keep up to date with the monthly security updates, they've not replied...
For now, I've turned off Auto Downloading of updates now so that's one part of the problem solved, however, Software Update app still keeps posting notifications about the update, even though I've removed all permissions for it to do this.
