I was about to install it, but the app seems to have horrible reviews.

Been using Google Voice for awhile with no problems. Haven't been able to send or receive pictures though.

Gv is great ...it is only SMS not mms. But when set up proper...media will Goto ur gmail accnt. Its a great alt if u don't have messaging but data on ur plan. Might also look at handcent messenger....uses its own servers...so should only be data. U can pay for more features if needed. Other then that basic is free

Google voice isn't too bad so far. Long as I don't get charged for anything, I'll stick with this. Thanks for the suggestion.

Browser history

Does anyone know of a way to be able to view browsing history of my childs phone. She has been deleting the history from her browser and I believe she is talking to a grown man on her phone. The text messages have ended, but, I think she is using her browser some how as it's wiped clean whenever she gets home from school now. HELP!

I can't say that I'm a strict parent but taking away the phone our anything materialistic would be my go-to solution. A parent is responsible for a childs safety, and don't forget, phones are able to log on wifi as well, so just cutting off a data plan is also not an option.

There are apps in the market that will forward you all of her incoming texts, havent used them myself but they claim to leave no app icon on her phone

Cool, will try something like that.

Contacts sync ?

So I just noticed that whenever I add a new contact its not being synced and added to my Google contacts .. whenever I added a contact on my nexus it automatically added it to Google contacts. How come it doesnt on the tbolt?

I am seeing the same thing... My droid always uploaded everything and now my Thunderbolt doesn't. The Apps don't go to the Cloud either. It says when I setup the google account that it's going to sync but I don't see it doing anything. I reformat nothing comes back....

Seems there's often a delay between the syncing of Google and my backup.
Sometimes when flashing roms ill get all my contacts at once other times it seems to take awhile.
Best option is to export your contacts to sdcard occasionally.

Well that's dumb. Does anyone have a solution?

I noticed this too. Not sure why this is happening. Maybe the GB build does not have the Google sync functionality working properly?

I suggested a solution, export contacts to sdcard.

That kind of defeats the purpose of an android phone then.. its made so everything is synced with google regardless of which device you are using
Hm, im not using a GB build, im using perfect storm weird

I was having this issue as well, and read about it somewhere on here.
Google.com/contacts is your friend. Use it.
If you input a contact, via the phone, make sure you change it from a "phone" contact to a "Google" contact.
Problem solved. ;-)

Ah thanks, for some reason if you add a contact from another app it would default to the "phone" contact option with no option to change to google.
Thanks

Is there a way to make the Google way default?

Free WiFi calling?

Is it possible to do free wifi calling on a captivate? O guess it would be like free VOIP on a computer.
Thanks,
Your Noob

I don't know about your phone, but you can try it. You need to have a Google Voice account, enable Google talk on that account, and install GrooveIP. If it work you should have voip.
Why, thank-you. I will try this.
Greatfully,
Your Noob.

I agree whatsapp seems better... But my 1 year free trial is gonna expire soon. Heard some extended for free, maybe then I will change.

last time i checked the charge after the free trial was less than one British pound so seems reasonable considering how much i use it.
btw my kik username is same as my forum name.

That would depend on whether I'm able to, I don't have a credit card or more like I'm too lazy to get one..

[Q] Fastest, Lightest SMS App

What is the best SMS app other then the built in one.
The majority of apps I have found have extra useless features or are not smooth.
I am on android 2.3 Atrix 4G I could upgrade to 4.1 but I'd rather not.
Let me know what you use.

I use stock app.
Since you ask for a light one, there is an app called "FREE SMS SENDER" in play store. It can be used to send sms via Internet or the default carrier messaging thing.

Yeah I'm using go SMS in lite mode I just wish I could fully remove themes and Go store and all the bulk.

Yah. The go sms is filled with crap stuff. Even I used it once, it's completely messed up.
So I switched back to stock.
But I'm using the message app from CM10. That's cool with quick reply and call back thing.
Sent from my muffin LIFE! Under maintenance.!
Right, I just don't want to go to CM10 until it becomes more stable. I used it for months but CM7 is much more stable.
I'm using Messaging 7 which is light but still not ideal.
