In my opinion, the best source for stock recovery image files are the original RUU leaks we're provided.
Generally, the user named Football posts them in the development threads. Sometimes they are made sticky. I would suggest searching for the RUU thread by Football for the specific software version you're wanting the stock recovery image from.
An alternate mirror source is http://goo-inside.me . As they mirror many RUU files which contain the stock recovery image.
Goo-inside.me usually posts the rom.zip file located inside the RUU.exe which saves the end user a few steps of extracting the rom.zip themselves from the RUU.exe.
Inside the rom.zip file, there will be another file called firmware.zip, this should contain a file named recovery.img, which is the original stock recovery image for that specific software version.
If the process seems convoluted, you can thank HTC! Hope those steps help make sense of the issue!

For the CDMA version, http://goo-inside.me/shooter/ruu

Don't rename it afterwards?

ROMs dont have an update.zip

Hey Guys,
I'm in need of some really n00b friendly advice.
When you flash a new ROM (i.e. CM9) in CWM the tutorials tell you to flash the file named Update.zip. My problem is that I can't seem to find one in the zip file I downloaded for my xperia mini.
I downloaded FXP131, and found the zip file to contain a boot.img, which will be the kernel. And 2 other folders named META-INF and System.
I know how to flash the kernel and expect it was just left in there for easy transportation.
But where in the world is 'update.zip'?
Am I meant to unpackage the kernel then re-zip the META-INF and System folder and then call that 'Update.zip'?
I've flashed roms for some of my other devices before, but they've always used flashtool or samsungs flashtool.
Please help me guys, I don't like sounding this inexperienced
update.zip
I'm wondering if the ROM I am trying to flash needs to be renamed as update.zip in order to work. It is krook's v.6 of JB for the Lenovo K1 tablet. Since the download site has to distinguish between wifi and 3G versions, as well as nvflash versions there are a number of different filenames, however does it need to be renamed after putting it on my SD card?
Generally speaking "update.zip" is used as a generic name. For example the update.zip I just flashed is actually named "rascarlo_maguro_ota_2012-11-01.zip". When you flash a custom ROM in a custom recovery you should be able to browse & flash whichever file you need.
The FXP131.zip file that contains the boot.img and 2 other folders named META-INF and System is the "update.zip"
solved
My problem was an incomplete download. I compared file sizes, and checked md5sums and determined the correct ROM and it is now in the middle of finishing the upgrade/optimization process.
Thx

Which one are you looking for?
Better yet, I'll tell you.
Explore the Rom zip, extract the hboot file and the android info text file to any location. now highlight both files, right click on one of them and choose add to/ compressed zip. Now change the name to PG86IMG.zip.

what's wrong and what I can do?
You need to change mountpoints in updater-script, there is a guide somewhere in Android Development, just search for it there.

I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213663 but there was no change at least not to accept the rom I have problemI.
Replace updater-script in Half-Sense.zip using 7-zip on Windows (important!) with the one I attached to this post, should work then. Remove the extension first from the file prior to packing it into the zip.

Un-RUU the Unbranded HTC RUU

Hi Everyone
I have been trying to get the zip file from the unbranded RUU of HTC Amaze, the conventional method of running the exe and copying the zip from the temporary folder doesn't seem to work, the rom.zip file is too small and the biggest file (data1.cab) isn't extractable. I saw a post on extracting using unruu but I dont have access to ubuntu and I am not very familiar with it. Can anyone help me get the flashable zip of the Asian unbranded RUU? I have included the link to the exe file.

Thanks in advance
