[IDEA need DEV] Improve sound quality - Xperia Arc Themes and Apps

Hello everybody, first sorry for my bad english.
We all know about the Xperia NXT seri like Xperia S,P,U. All these phone are have Sony's technology for increase sound quality: Clear Bass, 3D stereo, and s.o in our forum ported it to xperia 2011 seri, and it's working very good.
For people don't know, here is the guide to have Clear Bass in equalizer:
Added the SemcMusic.apk to system/app, set right permission, then flash the Soundfx_Xperia_S.zip, and reboot. Now you have the Xperia S Music app, with Clear Bass in equalizer. Here is the link:
SemcMusic.apk
Soundfx_Xperia_S.zip
The problem is, whenever there is low frequency in song (bass sound), the volume is automatically set lower. I think SE did it for protecting out ears, but the volume is smaller, and so the detail of the sound is decrease.
I think that if s.o know how to edit and remake the files in soundfx folder, maybe we will have perfect sound quality in all xperia phone, cause i don't know anything about edit android system file.
I found that in the soundfx folder, there is a file with name: libhearingprotection.so, maybe it include some infomation?

Actually i quite dissapointed with arcS sound quality
even x10 mini sounds better

Btw do anyone know how to enable 3D stereo part in Equalizer ?

Someone could port the "Beats by dre" from the sensation, it will improve headphone sound quality.. It's already ported to X10 & other phones, take a look here (or xda news): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23073113

Not work on stock .62 & doomkernel v18fix1. Player don't visible in menu.

What settings do you use for dsp manager?

I rule manually to get the sound I want. There is no miracle setting. DSP Manager stays in back and start automatically with the phone.

Equalizer not working after upgrade of 4.1.B.0.431 in Live with Walkman (WT19i)

I have upgrade my Sony live with walkman to Generic 4.1.B.0.431 using flash tool.
My Boot loader is still locked.
Issue is none of my previously used Equalizers are not working with this ICS upgrade.
For example i have used Audio Fx Widget which now partially working. (which means after reboot the phone widget fails to load).
Another one is Equalizer app in the market. After run the equalizer app i saw in the wizard, that
i need to do some setting in the Music Effect menu option in Sound Settings.
But unfortunately such option is not available in my device
This audio quality is pretty bad i would say. Please need some help on this.

Have u got any solution? coz i want My EQ app it was working Awesomly on GB but now on ICS it doesnt work WTH is that....
I've tried two things.
1.) Installed the Xperia S player (ported for mdpi devices) with Clear BASS and sound enhancement.
2.) Tried the poweramp player on ICS.
I'll give 4.5 out of 5 for Power Amp player (with Bass/treble controls and 10 band equalizer) and
3.5 out of 5 for Xperia S ported player.
However the sound clarity is much better in Xperia S ported player. Only the thing is it has very
limited range of equalizer. Due to that overall bass output is constrained even when the clear BASS is turned on.
Thanks!!

I'd say everything depends on the music genre you listen to. the original Beats Audio system was created for hiphop/pop/club/Justin Bieber/Lady Gaga/etc. lovers, and it focuses mostly on lower frequencies. yes, it also boosts trebles, but it mainly makes the bass deeper. I haven't used it, but I've read some reviews saying it goes badly with music using lots of medium tones, like rock or classical.
I am using Walkman player with ClearBass and while it does a good job, I still prefer to set the EQ to the "Trebles" setting as I mostly listen to indie/folk/electro-swing and the strong bass goes horribly with them. so I guess, you'd have to test every one of those mods and decide by yourself which one you like the most

It differs from person to person. Remember that audio quality also depends on your headphones/earphones. Go and try some of the walkman players in the themes/apps section, there are many available. But, anyway my opinion -
ThilianaC's Walkman - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786767
Sennheisser MX 365 Earphones.

I have blueicee v3 rom installed in my sony xperia and the walkman player is already installed in it with acid sound mod...... i like those headphones you mentioned above.........but these are not available in pakistan...... but i have to search for the earphones....
i approve the post above mine. im also using Xperia_blue ice v3. the sound is good especially in earphone. but in speaker mode, i feel that it is less loud. In my opinion if you want loudness go for the stock rom, but for the quality go for the mods. :fingers-crossed:
well you can try pushing the dsp manager to /system/app/.....
& fix the permission to rw-r--r--
it worked for me in my Xperia ray stock. 42
DSP manager for Stock ICS is working perfectly
Aaaaand.. its still the best sound mod ever for headphone
How about pimp my beats from pimpmyrom, just needs root.

JB Music Player

Hi, guys,
I would like to know which you find is the best music player for a JB ROM on our device? By best I mean:
-Sound quality
-Features (for example equalizer)
-DSP-Manager support
-Minimum size
-Design
Thanks for the awnsers .
Sent from my U20i using xda app-developers app
I recommend you Android Music Player. It havent got a good design but it fast, simply and size of them is about 1MB. Also you can download Songbird Music Player (with nice design). I thinh in google play store is now avaible google music player, but the size of this app i big
Sorry for my english
First of all, thanks for the suggestion. Do you know where to get a working version for JB (I dont mean the one from play store)?
Does songbird have DSP/Manager support?
yo can look here and search for the music player apps you need there are some for JB too
Mixzing 2.6.2 is only 1.17mb and has the better Eq settings of them all ( every song can have is own preset ).
JetAudio Basic - it's 6 to 7mb but drains as much battery as the normal player of androids, and has Eq, Wide Stereo, Bass Enhacement, Reverb and AGC.
PowerAmp - 3mb, Drains less battery than both of them and has EQ/Stereo Widening/Limit Compressor/Gain. This apk is paid xD.
These are the best.

Hey,guys, I just found a great solution to my/our problem: XingPlayer:
-Lyric support
-Album art support
-DSP-Manager support
-Great design
-Sleep timer
-Lockscreen widget/notification bar wiget
-And its only 2 mb
I tested Jetaudio Basic, and my first impression was "Dang!!! Great Player! Look at all the features!", but then I tested equalizer and xbass on my headphones and the Sound just completely crapped up (I was listening to Snow by the Red Hot Chili Peppers). This never happened to me with players that used DSP-Manager as equalizer . I havn't tried Sonbird yet, so we'll have to see with that one...

How did you use Jetaudio? remember that jetaudio already has an eq and all other effects, so you can't have dsp active if the player already has an eq, Eq + Eq = Colision of Eq's, so if you want a good sound don't use 2 eq's at the same time, don't abuse on the use of wide stereo and reverb and x-bass. Mixzing has an eq 2 and the very best eq settings because every song can have its own preset, and it's only 1.17mb, less than 2mb of xingplayer.
This are players to be used without a second eq, with second eq i'm meaning of Dsp managers and eq's that are not included on the players.
But if you want a good single player to work with dps manager, then you got these: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5qcnRzdHVkaW8ubXVzaWMiXQ.. less than 1mb, this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5lbGlmZXJ1bi5tdXNpYyJd 1.1mb, https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5uZXBzcXVhcmUuTlNQbGF5ZXIiXQ.. 405kb, https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwxLDEsImNuLnZvaWxldC5nb29kdm9pY2VwbGF5ZXIiXQ.. 345kb, https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ch_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImtlLnBsYXllciJd only 153kb, https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwxLDEsImNvbS5rYW5lLnhwbGF5LmFjdGl2aXRpZXMiXQ.. 2.9mb and has eq bass enhancement and virtualizer ( i think it would sound cool if you tweak the virtualizer and make nice eq settings with the player or the dsp manager ), https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsImpwLnUxYXJ5ei5wcm9kdWN0cy5tZWRpYXBsdXMiXQ.. 492kb and it's good looking, and i think that's all xD, tell me if you like some of those .

Thanks for all your trouble! I didn't even know there where so many good music players out there! My personal favourite on your list was MediaPlus player because of the style, the performance and the size. It would have easily beaten Xing, if DSP-manager had supported it: This is what happened: I killed DSP-manager and all music apps left on my phone (xing and mediaplus). Then I restarted DSP-manager and opened mediaplus, played a song, but DSP-managers sound effects didn't kick in, no matter how often I opened dsp and fiddled with the settings. The , I tried xing and the sound effects kicked in immediatly! Why don't you give it a try?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...dium=organic&utm_term=xing+player+google+play
As for JetAudio, no, I didn't use Dsp, I actually deleted dsp to stop it interfering while testing JetAudio. Once I turned xbass and everything off, the sound didn't crap up, but then the sound quality wasn't comparable to a dsp-powered music application.

http://www.1mobile.com/equalizer-music-player-664712.html - This one without dsp just using its eq settings have very nice sound for me, for me i put Rock preset then slide almost all the way up the 3rd bar of the Eq then volume all way up and the bass in the left area almost all the way down, and important ( don't select any rverb effects on the bottom, just use the bars ) it sounded very nice for me, very loud with quality! but that was for me, i don't know if you would like the sound with these settings, give it a try . You're welcome! Yes there are but the best ones are too much for our mini pro to handle :S, i always wanted to try Neutron Music Player but it always force closes on this phone :S. yes i really looks good, but if it doesn't support dsp that's too bad. Did you check every option of the mediaplus to see if it had anything to (enable) dsp or sound effects? About xingplayer it looks like the original music app that already is in the roms but the roms version is already 1mb or less and compatible with dsp, so i think for now the original music app of the rom wins.
Honestly i don't see what is the difference beetween using or not the dsp manager comparing to music players with eq and effects in it, i used both techniques and the results are very much the same, but that EQ music player is the one i liked the most in terms of sound quality/volume.
About jetaudio, i think that everything is pretty much the same, dsp changes volume but pre-amp of jetaudio does 2, dsp changes eq but jetaudio does it 2, both have reverb effects as well, so i think there is no real difference beetween players with everything in it and dsp supported players, at least i didn't hear the difference beetween both techniques.

Now, this is very interesting, because on my phone, comparing dsp-powered apps with preinstalled equalizer apps is like comparing night with day: I think DSP-Manager makes the sound SO much better, no idea why you don't hear any difference. Hmm...
PS.: Have you tested my Rom with nAa's new kernel (why the heck did he call it v02, when the older version is called v03?!)?

Did you try that player and eq settings that i just said?.
Interesting in deed, did you use the same effects with the same values on both techniques? i did that and the result was always the same. If i'm not doing the right eq settings then maybe you could show me the difference by making a screenshot or saying here the effects and the values that you put on your dsp. Remember i only listen to heavy music like rock and rapcore and stuff xD, it's (distorted) sounds, so it must be carefully tweaked, much more careful than any other type of music.
Ps: no i didn't, but i don't think that it's going to do much in performance or sound quality, maybe it just let's you use more options that weren't available. And maybe the name v02 is because he might based the kernel in the older v02 version being an update to that kernel.

I myself almost only listen to rock, but I like the bass being really powerful . I'll upload a screenshot with my DSP settings soon. One thing I noticed about the different music players: Only the ones where you press the menu button and have the option 'sound effects' or 'equalizer', which gets you to the dsp settings, actually make a difference with dsp. The ones where you don't have that option don't change the sound with dsp. I really would recommend xing to you, okay, the library looks exactly like the stock os player, and it's about double the size, BUT it has much more features and I like the playback style and the sleep timer (and the lockscreen). Also, when you press the menu button, it gives you the chance to go to dsp, which means that It DEFINITLY supports it!
PS.: Sorry, but at the moment I'm on stock rom to test a script I wrote for the guy in the wifi tethering thread. I think I'll reflash this evening and test the player, looks good .

[MOD] PureX Audio (v3.0)

zerromusic update
This is not my work. I saw mBear posted this a little white back for the Z1, and he gave me permission to post it here for the Ultra. Any issues comment below and I'll see what I can do....
Credits: @MightyBear007 & @ZeroInfinity
** NOTES **
- This mod will work for Locked/Unlocked Bootloaders as long as you have a custom recovery.
- The speaker's audio quality becomes worse as you increase the volume. This is because our speaker cannot handle the output i.e. loud volumes with increased quality. It is impossible to keep audio quality and loud volume because of our hardware. The Z1 and Z Ultra DON'T have a dedicated Amp inside it's chipset. So don't expect extreme loud sound.

Yes, I've been having similar issues with V4A on stock roms, although I got it to work with one music application (Play Music) in compatible mode. V4A worked flawlessly on AOKP roms though.
Gonna check this one out later as I need to have a working audio enhancing mod on stock.
@hamdogg Do you need to be deodexed? Ta..

It should be significantly better over low to medium sound volume. any louder and you will sound quite bad.
On my SBH-52 it is quite noticeable... sounds really good. Bass sounds punchier and mid range is good too. tweakers sound under done, but I think thats the whole point in the MOD
How can I select mod?I have install it through recovery but after reboot I can't find any mod selection...can u point out for me?

Viper4Android tunes up the whole ALSA Parameters
whereas this mod multiplies the frequencies and does some super sampling which can only be achieved in Sony Devices
