Went to Sprint and told them my pictures all had a green tint, and the screen was yellow and overall performance was laggy...all I had to show him was one green pic and he swapped the phone out. Told him battery was not that much better than the EVO and he gave me a new battery and let me keep my current battery.
Overall this phone is better. Screen is not a dull yellowish color, camera seems to be working, and the home screen lag is gone....
What HW version was your old one and what is your new one?
Most likely going to be a 0002
the green tint to the pictures is gone? mine is always doing that.
I didn't even think to look at the old HW version. This this one is 0002. The green tint is there for a second or 2 and after it auto focus, its gone. My old phone it just stayed green. And my grass looked like I was at the masters tournament and my grass don't look that damn good LOL
But the difference in scrolling through my home screens is a big difference. Even the guy there said it was pretty bad. I got the same widgets up now and its smooth

Oh and I couldn't run a live wallpaper at all. Phone would bog down. Now its running without a hitch so maybe I had a defective phone but now I'm not so tempted to turn this bad boy in like i was yesterday

good to know. i will have to take mine back tomorrow then. my phone also won't play the weather live wallpaper for more than 10 sec before it freezes up.
The live weather app stops after about 10 seconds. And restarts when you turn the screen back on fyi

The weather wallpaper does? That kids defeats the purpose of it being a live wallpaper doesn't it?
Also anyone have the little menu that allows you to select live,HTC,or gallery wallpaper have a distorted glitch as it pops up? Also when I click on HTC wallpaper and it brings up the previews of the wallpapers it takes a long time for them all to show up. It's almost like It's downloading them over a slow connection.
I'm just trying to figure this out before I take my phone back here in a couple hours.

How long is a long time? Mine takes maybe 3 to 5 seconds.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
I'd say over 5sec the first time I look at them. Sometimes they don't even come up and I just give up all together. Also I constantly ha e stuff stop working and i have to reboot the phone. Like right now when i get a new email the notification tone isn't working. I'm not going to reboot the phone tho I'm going to show it to the Sprint store.

Yea...that's what i would do. Your issues seem like they are beyond what the phone should be doing.

Mine still does this. You would assume that a dual core with 1 gb of RAM wouldn't have these kinda delays. I.get the glitch in the menu as well. Think that's all software related. Hopefully there is a fix soon to knock out the kinks

i was going to take mine in today but i didn't have time. no reboot and now all the sudden the e-mail notification sound is working. all the bugs with this phone really suck.
Turn all the lights off, make sure the room is very dark.
Turn on auto brightness in settings.
Turn on auto screen power adjustment.
Click the following link and make the imagine full screen.
Look specifically for black horizontal lines going down the screen. I have one, my best friend has one in a different spot, my girlfriend has none. All bought from the same store.

Ok now listen very carefully. In order to see this picture you need to have your brightness all the way UP.
You have to do the exact opposite that you have to do when trying to find the defect on your own screen.
This is a picture of my screen taken in total darkness with a damn playskool camera:

It doesn't make the same line looking at an image that isn't that, so.. I dunno.

Interesting... I have a solid darker line going from top to bottom slightly to the left from the center. I also see some spots around the screen that I thought at first might have been fingerprints as they're a little more blurred than the rest.
Never noticed anything until I viewed this image.

I don't know if I'm doing this right. I don't really see "lines", just two boxes at the bottom that I can move left and right. Then the whole middle of the screen isn't as "dark" as the top 25%.

You need to take one of the attached grey images and open it full screen on your phone so that nothing else is showing on the screen. Then follow the rest of the instructions to check for defects.

Ya I have one too that's slightly left, same as was described already in this thread. When did you get yours? I got mine the first day, if you got yours on the same day then both screens were probably in the same batch and all have this defect. It isn't visible outside of a gray picture in complete darkness, and doesn't effect the screen otherwise, so I'm pretty sure that the screen passed QA testing wihtout anyone noticing.
everyone ive showed this to has a line from top to bottom slightly to the left....you sure its not just in the wallpaper....because ive looked at similar dark grey wallpapers with the same settings on in dark light and none of thoes have ever showed a line
mine doesnt have any !

Yes I'm sure its not the wallpaper. I can tell because when I turn the phone sideways the picture rotates but the line doesn't.
[Q] Do you have burn-in on screen of your beloved SGSII
Yes I do have a screen burn which looks like the power off symbol on my bottom half of screen. I have no clue where it comes from though... Never had something like that shown on my display.
It is only visible on brighter gray and if you look close so since I prefer colourful wallpaper I only see it sometimes when pulling down notification bar

I have it also a tiny spot 2mms across which is seen on gray and brighter colors, not that much, almost nothing on dark colors.

Yes, I have slight burn-in from the AOSP Clock (time and the buttons at the bottom).
I've got one above the misdemeanor towards right corner of the screen. Gonna replace screen, never seen on previous exchanges models.

Its not just the screen its the 3g/wifi the screen and everything but the screen is bit so it needs more power than a smaller screen. That's just one reason.

It's science! Literally.
White light is suppose to be the brightest light while black is its opposite. The way these phones work is that the black pixels, pure black, are just pixels turned off. Now apply the opposite logic with white.
But for the phones, I'm not sure exactly. But I think red is the least power consuming, I forget.

I believe it's the way standard screen and amoled screens work.
Amoled: imagine the individual pixel, it has its own colour and light. When displaying black as mentioned before all the pixels are literally switched off which is why blacks look so deep with amoled. For whatever colour only a few pixels are on. Which controls what colour you see. However for white all the pixels have to be on as you can imagine the amount of power spent for a white screen is much higher.
Standard LCD screens generally work where all the pixxels are white and they are behind tiny pixel filters each having Their own colour (RGB like amoled) they can easily lets say switch the filters off and remove them so that it only displays white. Black is more difficult to display I'm not sure why I could be wrong but I think it's because the light from the other pixels comes in causing blacks to be less deep this is the same with colours they look more washed out
Anyways
So amoled is like having loads of little light bulbs of different colour that are on at different intensities to create whatever colour. Standard LCD is like loads of white bulbs or a big white bulb and the colour is controlled by holding filters over it of different colour infront of it which needs less power.
That's my understand ing but please correct me if I'm wrong! I read about one years ago but cant remember properly
Hope it helps!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
because the AMOLED, unlike the normal LCD, uses three LED RBG. to have the color white needs to turn on the three LEDs and then spend more energy. In fact, the websites often have the white background.
try putting the color reversed so as to have the black background (you save energy because it does not need to turn the usual LED)
Can't you use Google? Or Bing? Or any search engine?

Dear xda,
I don't know if anyone else has this weird problem.
I had it before the .475 update, after the .475 update ot went away and now has returned in the .510+ updates.
Please look at screen shot. Top right corner. Funny that even the screenshot captures the glitch.
Only happens on black areas.
My unit is from hong kong.
Thanks

Forgive me but is it really top right?
I saw some on the upperightmost left corner on your first screenshot.
Or is it the one on top of the WiFi symbol?
I havent seen anything odd on the second pic..
Or is it because my phone wont load the whole pic because of slow internet connection?
Anyways, since it is visible on a screenshot, i'm pretty sure it is not an lcd/hardware issue..
Tried flashing again? The one where they say that it would fully clean your phone.. I think it is by using SEUS... :what:

Top and left. I think that is software's problem. If that is hardware problem, you can't find any red dot in screenshot.

I can see a red dot in the second image (BOTTOM LEFT), but it's a screenshot and a hardware error shouldn't really show up on a screenshot. And the fact that the red dot is nowhere to be found on the first image says it all. Let me also guess that the red dot only appears in one specific app?

Its actually there on the first screen shot also. The resolution just isn't good. But if you zoom in you will see it.
No it isn't specific to one app. I don't believe its a hardware problem. Software for sure, went away @.475. Just wondering if anyone else got it.

Red dots go away. They don't stay. I know how to emulate it.
Pull down your settings menu. At the bottom near the home button you will see your mobile providers name. There are 3 lines that indicate where you can pull up the menu again. Keep taping them. See if you can see red dots near the bottom left of the screen.
Thanks
