Does the s2 support WPA2 Enterprise - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello i am trying to connect to my schools network and it says to choose wpa2 enterprise under security and it is not there. Any ideas? seems iphones have this but galaxy s2 doesnt? Also I tried the regular WPA/WPA2 PSK it isn't the same as enterprise there is nowhere to put my account username and my school requires a certificate

Put the certificate on your phone and install it via Settings --> Location & Security --> Install from USB storage. Then you should be good to go when you connect.

Is there a folder on the phone i am suppose to place it? I placed it on my external sd card and when i clcik install from usb storage it says
"No certificate file found in USB storage

"USB storage" refers to the internal memory, i.e. /sdcard/

When you say "placed it in the sdcard and tried again", did you put it on your sd card that you can actually take out of the phone? That is your external sd card.
As oinkylicious said above, USB storage is the /sdcard folder. The external sd card is /sdcard/external_sd.
How are you placing it in your sd card in the first place?

Sorry, wasn't clear you did actually note the difference. Where in /sdcard are you putting the file? What is the file extension? What is the exact message you are getting?
Also, I noted you are on Rogers. Are you an SGH-I727R user instead of an I9100 user?
EDIT: sorry, saw the message above. Are you putting it in the root of /sdcard, or a sub-folder?

my sd card fuc*d up

today form a strange reason all my files and folders on my sd card the file explorer was reading them as an .exe file so i couldnt open any file so my d*ck was full of it and i formated the sd card now it works but i lost all my games save's etc why did this happen?? and sory or bing rude but this pisedd me off
Why did this happen?
Because you formatted the card. I'm fairly sure you were warned that you would lose all your data...
But before you have a strong word with yourself you had almost certainly lost it all already because it sounds like the card's data area became corrupted.
or the file associations had become corrupted.
Next time, copy everything off to the pc first, and if you have a card reader, maybe get the pc to scan for errors. its sometimes recoverable.

I don't agree. File associations is different. That determines which file extension is managed by which program. The OP says all his files showed as .exe's.
i was assuming he actually meant nothing would open and he was getting a 'this is not a valid aplication' type error or somesuch rather than the file extensions all actually reading '.exe', because the first scenario i have heard of, the second i haven't.
First time for everything, of course.

I'm not sure that CD would have helped... It sounds like, at best, the FAT, (File Allocation Table), was messed up. The system would have noticed that the backup FAT didn't match the primary and have given some warning. It seems like it didn't. That implies that both FAT's were bad. That's unrecoverable unless you are desperate. (For "desperate" read: rich).

The system doesn't check both FATs to see if one is fragged. You (the user) have to initiate that check by running CHKDSK /F.

Yes. It is. I removed external sd.
Hmmm...no idea then. Dumb question, but it is named "update.zip," and not "Update.zip," right?
As was stated before, make sure you are placing the file on the internal sd card. You also might consider redownloading the root file that you are attempting to use on the off chance that it is an issue with that file, even if you have previously used it.

This is dumb, but turn on "view file extensions" or whatever in Windows and make sure that the file isn't named update.zip.zip. Almost certainly not the problem, but worth a shot just to check.

Checking md5sum

I keep reading in threads to check md5sums before doing anything. Would someone care to explain why and how to go about doing so? Is this to be done prior to installing a ROM?
Just trying to get a better understanding of things.
Figured it out before someone gave me the old spoon fed line.
Anyway for those of you that might be a bit confused like myself here is a link to a md5 checker.
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/File-Management/MD5-Checker.shtml
Run exe. after unzipping.
search for file you want checked
Good to go
Guess i've been fairly lucky up till now considering i have never performed this step prior to installing anything.
you can also go to the market and download an app called ManD5....it is also a md5sum checker...

The idea is to check it prior to actually installing it on the phone, not just before it is copied to the storage card. Theoretically, it could get corrupted at any point it is copied/moved/etc, so the ideal time to check is just prior to the step where you flash/install/reboot/whatever.
I actually just use Astro file explorer on my phone. You can look at the details of a file, and it will compute the md5 for it.

Dell Streak Icon Autorun for USB

inspired by the other thread with the icon... I made a new one and attached the autorun... just unzip to your root of your sd card and make them hidden.. unattach and attach and viola!
Any idea why the Streak would be erasing the "autorun.inf" file each time I connect it? The "DellStreak.ico" is still on the root but the inf file gets wiped each time I connect it and it's driving me crazy.
I use these icons on all my devices to identify them visually and this is the only one that's giving me this problem

no clue why this is happening to yours... did you try making the autorun.inf read-only?
I read somewhere here in the forum, although not here in the Streak threads that Froyo by default deletes and autorun.inf files it finds on either the internal or external sd cards.... any truth to that or a workaround for it?

Well that's the very point of my question.... the autorun.inf file I put on the root of the SD card gets erased. My question earlier was how do I keep this from happening.
I create an autorun.inf file that says:
[autorun]
icon=.\DellStreak.ico (this is what's in the file if I put a hidden icon on the root of the SD card)
or
[autorun]
icon=autorun\DellStreak (this is what's in the file if I put the hidden icon within a folder that's called "autorun" on the root of the file)
Either way, the icon is still there in the root of the SD card, so is the "Autorun" folder with another DellStreak.ico icon inside of it, and no matter which approach I take, when I disconnect the Streak and reconnect it, the autorun.inf file has been erased. Thus that leaves Windows without a directory command to look for the icon when it gets connected to the computer.
I hope I haven't lost you in what I'm doing. What I am doing is correct, well at least it's correct for any other device I connect to any other PC I have ever used.
I have flash drives, sd chips, external hard drives, and I have these files in all of them so that when I am looking at all the drives on the My Computer page, I see the icon associated with that drive, not just a generic icon and a letter.
Aight I think I got it to work now....
Disconnect the Streak from the computer and uncheck USB debugging.
Reconnect to the computer and places the files on the SD of the Streak like you want them, read-only and hidden. Mount and unmount from the computer a couple times to make sure you .inf file is correct and you are seeing the icon by the drive letter.
After a couple of successful attempts I got brave and went back and rechecked USB debugging and the file was still on the SD after a couple of disconnects.
I don't know enough about what's going on for this process to have worked, I just got lucky
Edit: no longer working this morning, the autorun is once again gone from the SD card (this is driving me crazy, I see no good reason for this sort of programming)

[MOD] [IDEA] Mount SDCard as /sdcard AND /sdcard2 and avoid internal storage

Not sure how to better ask than to state my intent. The added storage of internal nand (as /sdcard in most roms) isn't worth the trouble it creates with doing full migrations from one rom to the next so I'm thinking I want to edit scripts (init.d, fstab and what-not) so that the internal storage just isn't used and my sdcard is OR so that internal is mounted inside /sdcard as /int_temp or something like that.
What I want to know though is if anyone out there knows of a reason this would be inadvisable? In other words, is there anything I'm likely to break? Any reason I can't just shell in from recovery, set things up, and try it?
Also, to deal with apps that don't rely on the APIs correctly, I was thinking of mounting as both /sdcard and /sdcard2. Any reason that could cause trouble? Ideally I would also edit the rom so that properly written apps will always use SDcard over internal storage too.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE:
2012-03-06T20:08-0700: So far I've done no harm and by simply modifying /etc/vold.fstab to the following, I've swapped internal/external, but it's a complete swap so the rom now reports 29GB total phone storage and 10GB SD card storage. I'm guessing it's the ramdisk that contains the references that vold.fstab uses which define what's "phone" and what's "sdcard". I tried swapping single parts of vold.fstab entries and storage broke so it doesn't appear to be standalone in that sense (doesn't have the meta data to indicate what's phone and what's sdcard).
Code:
dev_mount sdcard2 /mnt/sdcard/ext_sd 37 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.1/mmc_host/mmc0
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host/mmc2
I can work on it later this week. I think it can be done. I just need time to mess with it.
/sdcard/sd_ext
Thanks for the quick reply Con. Should it take much more than init.d and/or fstab changes? I have no doubt you're as/more busy with Android mods than I am with my other projects so I'd rather give this a go and hit you up with targeted questions than wait AND put it all on you. Guess I wasn't clear enough. I know it's there, but /sdcard is internal storage (EMMC) and not sdcard which is what I'd prefer it to be. Also, /sdcard/sd_ext is irrelevant except that a ROM settings allows apps using the proper API to discover that the sdcard is mounted there (95% sure that's true anyway) and that's needed BECAUSE /sdcard isn't actually the sdcard. Pretty silly IMO.

Here is the file that I edited and use everytime I flash a new rom. It swaps SDcard and EMMC. What you have to do is copy the file in the RAR archive to the /etc folder and overwrite the one that is there. Just keep in mind that after you copy this file that the EMMC is not accessible with USB mount. I have not figured out how to do that exactly. Reboot after file overwrite.
