I'm posting this so hopefully it would help others. I was clearing my battery stats in romracers recovery, and somehow ended up on the internal sd re-partition screen. Panicking, I tried to back out and ended up choosing 0MB. I finally got it up and running to back up my data:
Rebooting the device, it shows a long menu with all the boot options, saying it will attempt to boot in 5 seconds. In the OS at this point, the touchscreen is horribly messed up, and won't select things properly.
I reboot the phone again into fastboot. The serial number of the device shown is garbled. I first run 'fastboot erase recovery' and then fastboot flash recovery romracer-recovery.bin'.
At this point I'm able to boot into recovery and go to Advanced Restore. Using a previous Nandroid backup I was able to restore only the PDS partition. Now I'm finally able to get into my OS and use the touchscreen, I'm now backing up all my data and attempting to fix my boot screen. It still shows a long a text menu:
Serial Number: ###
Hardware Rev: 0x83f0
Build Date:
etc... showing all the boot options.
I've still yet to figure out how to get the Motorola boot logo back, but at least i'm able to use the phone again.
Just download a new boot logo from the Themes section, and flash it, youll be good to go.
hi,
I also went through this issue.
exact same.
I was saved by notorius and itdanno.
great people.
here is motorola boot logo.
http://db.tt/zUFTTuM3
usual stuff like wipe dalvik cache.
flash this.
you will get your motorola logo back.
However tragic this may be, this is the wrong place to post. This should be in 'General' or 'Q&A.'
Follow the advice above and see if that fixes.
My mistake, thank you.
And thank you for the logo
hi, i just did the exact same thing... i do have access to recovery and my backups but it wont boot past the long text menu.
any help is definitely appreciated
*edit* interestingly it appears the pds directory was wiped from my first backup listed but the rest were ok... i just restored from one of the other backups and im now up and running.

Ok, so i installed the cyanogen 7.0.3 update to the gtablet and it worked fine. I then went into settings and tried to erase the sd card, thinking it would format the 16 gigs of internal memory cause i had so many programs and files on it that i wanted to clean up. After i erased the sd, i hooked it up to the computer to browse the files and noticed that nothing was erased. I was like whatever and just tried to restart it just for the hell of it. Once i restarted it would get stuck in a recurring cyanogenmod logo boot loop. Nothing i did would fix it i tried a wipe of the data, the cache, a reset, and finally after none of this worked. I did the nv flash and pushed the original o.s. to the device. However, i still get stuck in a boot loop, this time with the gtab logo as it is what comes up under the original o.s.... Is there anything i can do? Do any of you have an idea as to how to proceed, or did i seriously brick this somehow? I'm at a total loss....any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
i also tried to get into some recovery the way you would under clowkwork but all it does is show an exclamation point with a triangle logo around it then shuts off to reboot.
I asume that you nvflash to a 1.1 bootloader.
so now nvflash clockworkmod. 08 mount usb and put a update file to restore(cm or stock) (next time you want clear sd you may use your pc to do it, be aware of not delete directory starting with a dot and you can afect some apps.) , after clean dalvik, user data & cache if boot loop ocurs.
Hey everyone! Lately i've been trying to unlock my BL and never really got to a solution, me being the total idiot I am, I was messing around with fastboot to see if I could do something with the "hidden" menu while holding down the down volume while fast booting. I tried first, flashing ics xloader and u-boot on jellybean and without booting the phone I did the Jellybean xloader and u-boot. When I booted the phone the normal screen faintly had the same weird screen stripes fastboot has. I flashed v20f and the phone didn't boot, it hung at lg, I did a hard reset and it booted. I rooted and tried to use cwm restore to restore all my apps and I keep getting error while restoring \(system, data, cache). I can however create new backups and restore them.
When I use the phone as is, when I lock it sometimes, then try to unlock it, the phone stays black but responds to touch. I noticed if I managed to change the brightness the screen would go back to normal, but would eventually crash. Everytime I try flashing kdzs' I have to hard-reset. The phone also connects to the pc but only as the installer for drivers.
I actually don't know where to get my cwm logs, so if someone could tell me real quick that would also be appreciated.
P.S. I created the backup before everything, when the phone was fine.

Click to collapse
There are save log to sd option in cwm advanced menu.
Try to format /data before restore backup. This may help you boot pass LG logo.

Recovery log
Heres the cwm log. From what I could tell, is there something wrong the eMMC?
My device details: SGS3 T999, rooted, running Jellybean 4.3 on a liquid smooth ROM. Its a year old and has been a solid performer up until now.
My device is stuck in a cycle where it gives a quick vibrate, then SGS3 splash screen with white letters, then black screen, then tiny blue "Recovery booting..." words in upper left of screen, then black screen with couple vibrations, and around and around it goes in the same repeating cycle.
Just before it started I had taken the following actions: Dumped the following 2 files onto my EXTSD card (cm-11-20131217-NIGHTLY-d2tmo.zip, gapps-kk-20131119.zip) from my PC, booted phone into recovery mode using TWRP, did a factory reset wipe (success), cache wipe (success), dalvik cache wipe (success), flashed the NIGHTLY file (failed), flashed the gapps file (failed). At this point I should have sought some support. Fool! I next did a reboot step still in recovery mode. Without the reboot happening a message came up stating Superuser permission had been broken (the best I can remember) and the option to have TWRP repair the permission. I opted "yes" to repair. Then the loop started that I can't escape.
I have pulled the battery multiple times, tried a regular boot up, tried a recovery boot up (up volume+power+home) dropping the home button after a few seconds. Nothing is working. Prior to the above steps I backed up everything on the device. So I have backups to use if it can be done. My best guess is that I failed to update my CyanogenMod or TWRP to the very latest versions and it caused this hang up. Otherwise, I don't know what to do and need any help I can get.
Has anyone had this issue or heard of anyone who has and have any helpful suggestions, tips, ideas, etc..?
Thank you in advance. This is my first XDA post. Please forgive and offer tips if this thread needs any scrubbing.
I've had a few similar events for a few different reasons.
I would suggest booting into recovery but it seems you have tried that already.
If the device is plugged into a wall or pc, unplugg it, that has seemed to cause and fix boot issues for me before.
Other than that, I dunno, if you can't get to recovery or fastboot, I dunno...
Hello,
I own an Android tablet KO PARA1 FULL and experiencing a strange problem. This is a chinese atm7029 quadcore tablet (16gb, 1gb ram, without bluetooth, only wifi, bu supports 3g dongle), running android 4.1.1 nad 3.4.0+ kernel, which came prerooted. After some time I've decided to install backup programs on in to make a full backup of the device for the case something would go wrong, and after some trying I descovered, that there is something like recovery for that purposes which seemed a good solution for me. I decided to install CWM, which I managed to install without problems and made some backups on my device. Everything was fine, I did some factory resets through the time, some restoring processes from my previously backup states of the device, was always able to activate CWM recovery menu through Reboot to recovery or through combination of Volume down a Power button...
Until last saturday. I was normaly surfing the internet, reading mails and afterwords I powered my tablet off (it is draining battery in sleep mode, but its another story..). After a while wanted again to write a mail, so I powered it on. In that momet seemed the screen too dirty for me and I tried to cleen it little bit throug the bootup process. Unfortunately I obvious confused the system with it and after boot it was not responding properly. I did not wait enough and after a while powered it off with power key pressed for a long time, to make a new boot.
But when I powered it on again, it stayed stuck in boot logo and did not boot at all. I've tried a copple of times to boot it again with no cuccess, stayed stuck in boot logo for more then 10 min...
Afterwards I decided to make it boot up with the help of computer. I downloaded adb and drivers and somehow managed to make it boot up. I thing I was too excited to see it boot up again, that during boot up process I desconected my device from computer...
My worries were reliesed and I thought it would be a good idea to make a restore from backup to prevent some strange behaviour, so wanted to boot into recovery, but nothing had happened. After some repeated clicks on Boot into recovery button, as well as app called rebooter with nothing happening, I decided to try it out through button combination. It has not worked as well Next try was to reset to factory settings. But when I go through the menu, I can click on reset to factory settings button, seeing warning that I will lost ma data, then I can push the button to make it happen, but nothing is happening. I see only the screen with the button, can touch it 100 times and the tablet stays on, fully funcional. making no factory reset as it done before.
I did a lot of reading and searching, but have not find answer for my problem. I flashed recovery images from my backups (using flashify, flash gordon, adb shell, terminal emulator), from all previously functional states of the device. I refleshed the CWM recovery downloaded from the internet for my chipset, which previously did the job just perfect, with no success...
I am still not able to reach recovery menu. For me it seems like the bootloader would be locked, but I did not find the answer how to unlock it without to be able to start in some recovery state to use fastboot command to unlock it.
Otherwise, my device is functional, still rooted, i can use it without any other problems. But not be able to do recovery from my backups, even do a factory reset.
How can I restore my access to recovery mode? Is it somehow possible?
Hopfully it is not too much information (tryied to follow the intructions and wrote everything I thought would be important to know about) and you will not be bothered to read all my story and pull me out of my darkness with helpfull suggestion.
Thanks a lot in advance
Steve
I recently tried a factory reset on my phone after finding that one of my apps was sending out spam texts to random people and racking up my text plan. Upon the first boot, it showed a green android man with a blue orb thing spinning in its stomach and kept going for hours.
My phone was previously running an unofficial build of CM12 and was unlocked and rooted.
Now, I just figured that I could just flash a new recovery to the phone and flash a new ROM to get it back up and running, but I also keep having troubles getting it to flash. Using 'flashboot devices', I see my phone's serial, but when I try to use 'flashboot erase recovery' or 'flashboot flash recovery recovery.img' seems to hang up. I finally got it to write clockwork recovery to the phone somehow, but the device still boots to the green android man w/ blue instead of clockwork. I thought it was an issue, so I have been trying to flash TWRP, and it just hangs, and doesn't even give the <waiting for device> text, so I know it sees it.
Can anyone help me figure out a way to get my recovery flashed correctly? From that point, I should be good to go, as long as it loads into recovery.
Tampered
I have tried everything I can think of, and it still stalls while it is supposed to flash the new recovery, then fails with the error "too many links".
Also, now the **TAMPERED** flag pops up at the top of the bootloader. It still lets me into the FASTBOOT portion, so I don't believe that it is effecting anything, so I will probably just have to worry about that later, if I really feel like going through the whole rumrunner/revone process.
TWRP
Not sure if it is a good sign or not, but I replaced the USB cable and was able to get TWRP to install and actually load once. There were errors after it booted, and I choose to do a full factory wipe to hopefully start over fresh, and the phone rebooted itself. Now TWRP seems to endlessly load while it the splash screen flashes on and off, almost as if it is in a bootloop. I tried reflashing with a slightly older TWRP for my phone, and no luck.
Also, another strange thing is that when I flash a new recovery file, it shows that it only takes a total time of 2.607s. If feel like this is quite short and I remember it taking a bit longer in the past. I just feel like it is not writing the entire recovery, hense the blinking teamwin logo that seems to be stuck in a bootloop.
