So I have a my own a working SGS2 and I have flashed roms before.
I am in Canada on the Rogers network
My friend got his hands on a Korean SGS2. - I rooted it and flashed a rom for him (Cognition I think) and everything worked out fine. Now the problem, I stick a SIM in, and the phone has serious signal problems. Say I try to call someone, it would take over a minute to connect. Or when I try to use data, it doesn't work.
My friend actually took it some store. They guys at the store said they could make it work if the phone was back in its original korean firmware, which I can't find anywhere.
Any ideas?

Hi all in desperate need of help. i had a problem with my hero in that the keyboard no longer appear to allow text input so i flashed my phone. since then my phone will not connect to mobile internet. i have tried flashing diff radios and roms + changed apn settings but am getting nowhere! it worked before and have no idea why it doesnt now please help
What type of ROM do you use?
Stock or Custom?

hey matey, thanks for the response; i am happy to say the problem is solved and that it was a strange one.
I thought for the hell of it that i would try my partners sim in my phone since she is also on three and because everything on the phone was working except for mobile internet. pop it in and all of a sudden everything worked - put my sim back in and it was still broken. went to the three shop today got a new replacement sim and bang everything is back up and running once again.
In summary my Sim was defective in some way - dont ask me how a replacement solved the problem.

and this was before I rooted to CF-Root-SGS2_XW_LUX_KJ1-v5.0-CWM5.tar
I been using odin, and try to see which firmware was right for me,
I'm with giffgaff, runs on O2 network,
and before I rooted my original firmware was XXKWJ3
but then I try to root with a XXKWJ3
still no signal and XXKWI3 and XXKWI1
still no signal
can someone help me try to figure this out.
I went out and I have 1 bar, then I went shopping today at Aldis which is about 10 minutes away and I had 4 bars and was registered to O2, and 3G work fine thats on XXKJ1, but before I rooted I have 3 bars inside my home, also I use the sim card on my gf htc hero and works just like it use to work on my SG2, so I been trying to figure this out for 3 days now and I just feel like I did a very big mistake in trying to root my SG2, without backing my original firmware first.
can someone help me please

Try some different modems. Modem thread here. Maybe the modem that came with the firmware you flashed is not fully compatible with GiffGaff's (and by extension, O2's) network.
Finally fixed it,

First off, thanks for your help in advance, I find it great that communities like this are content with a simple thumbs up and don't require the contents of my wallet like the bastards at Apple. My problem is probably quite simple, but it's beyond me, so I'd appreciate your help.
Basically, I bought a Galaxy S Plus in India some years back and it's been my primary phone ever since. It worked fine with any SIM I put into it in India and made texts and calls as usual. Here's the issue. About a week ago I moved to the UK and my wife gave me her LycaMobile SIM to use with the phone. I put it in, but my phone wouldn't make any texts or calls, the phone showed some bars for signal for a few seconds but they quickly disappeared. I know the SIM works, because we tested it in her Nexus 4 and my friends Galaxy S2, leading me to believe the phone is at fault.
I tried several other SIMS in the phone, both UK and India based, but still no luck. My guess is that it has something to do with baseband, but as I said, I'm really not sure.

I think thats not the problem, google says that india and the united kingdom have the same gsm-bands (900/1800).
Hello guys I have a problem with meh galaxy s3. 4.1.2
I can't make any phone call or messages but my mobile internets work all good. It was on 3uk originally but I put the code in to unlock it a year ago working perfect since just yesterday.
I recently unrooted about 2.3 weeks ago and phone was working perfectly. Making phone call the lot
Now this has popped up. My imei is still there. I have never installed a custom rom or anything like that just autoroot and back to stock once.
Plz help I have done searches on here and google.

Usual suspects: factory reset, bad sim, network issue, corrupt rom. Check you have auto network selection.

I just came to a big problem. Yesterday my and my girlfriends SGS neo i9301i phones stopped to connect to carrier network and began to say only emergency calls/not connected to network. I found similar posts but found something what could help but still dont know what should I do as my problem is kinda different.
My IMEI havent changed, I bought phone unlocked straight from carrier. I rooted and installed custom roms on my i9301i but not on her.
So right now neither I or she can use our phones as both have the same problem.
I tried to reinstall stock firmware on mine ( as i have changed it before) still no changes.
ANY suggestions? looking for a fast response as I really need to get my phone running....

I might be stating the obvious, but i would contact the carrier. It sounds like an account problem if both phones went offline at the same time.

But would be account problem, if I put other carriers sim card in and it shows the same? Phone reads sim card, but wont connect to the network. Or can my carrier somehow lock my phone from connecting to any carrier network?
