Search around next time. All these links were found from a simple Google search. Also be more specific in the name of your thread. As in, need help for what? More people are likely to see your thread and reply if they know what it's about before they open it. FYI, porting ROMs is not as easy as just changing some files. What these threads show is the basic way to port a ROM and boot it up. There's a lot of work involved after that to get it optimally running on a device.
Good luck!
Click thanks if I've helped you.

OEM & SYS Organizing?

Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place. I'm pretty much a noob to the whole rom building area. My main problem is reorganizing the Oem and Sys folders from a stock rom. I know i could easily load someone elses Oem or sys that is already organized, but the takes all the fun out of it. So basically if anyone can give me a decent and detailed way, or point me in the right direction of doing this would be very much appreciated and helpful. I have already searched xda, ppc, and the web for such info and could find none.
thanks for your help.
P.S. Just got my Posting Cherry POPPed.

Thanks for the reply....yet i own a cdma touch pro. Now i have roms and kitchens from all over these sites... I've tried just about everything. I've gotten to the point where i just wanna make my own rom from scratch.. So all I'm looking for here is just some type of help on organizing the OEM folder. Just mainly get all the stock applications into their own modules. Thanks tho.
Have you looked at http://www.ppcgeeks.com/ ? There tends to be more CDMA activity over there than here.
Cheers,
Actually I have, I'm Always on these two sites and i know ppc is more for the whole cdma phones. I've always been a little more comfortable here...If that's alright with you folks. Plus I've found this site to be a lil more informative at times.
Just wanted to make sure you were informed since you're looking at building your own ROM and own a CDMA device ... last thing I'm sure you want to do is build a ROM that would brick your device.

You may want to check out Chef Central, from there you should get a better idea of what to do and where to start.

Its a bit much to explain in one post but you need to replace the 0409 section of the rom packages with the required language for lang change. To port a rom from another device you change the oem section of the rom for the TG01 version.
This is a very simplistic way of putting it and is easier said than done.

I'd recommend reading some of the early threads around the TG01 in this section of the forum as most relevant. It took a lot of taming in the early stages and only with the advent of Cedesmith's TGTool was it possible to do anything with the ROM. TG01 remains quite a specialised branch of the evolutionery tree !
It is in fact possible to make extensive changes to the ROM after simply unpacking. But that does require extensive Registry editing and rearranging of Packages within the Dump files. The very first de-branded ROMs were created by mix and matching with the Italian Radio and then stripping out all the unwanted content; later ones with interchanged languages and subsequently imports of later OS editions melded with the original in parts.
Pere has produced a Thread and Table showing the available editions inclding WM6.1, 6.5, 6.5.3, 6.5.5 and various additions such as Sense or alternate languages where applicable. You could do worse than open up a few examples and have a look at what you might be able to do to extend the process...
thank you for all the info!
ill look into it, who knows, in a few weeks i may be able to upload a rom of my own...
regards and again thank you all

[Q] jailing my android device to only one app

Hi folks,
first of all I want to say that this is the very best forum for Android I have ever seen. I've got so much usefull things here! Thank you for this great help.
But now I have a project to solve, where I have to modify an Android device, so that the "Standard"-User has only 1 App to start.
Every other things like settings and so on have to be password protected.
I do not even find a hint where to start investigating for a solution.
How could this be done? Do I have to :
- write a new Launcher?
- write or compile a new kernel?
I do not want you to give me a ready app or kernel or whatever I need.
I would be glad to get a hint where to look or how to start.
I have tried to find a similar thread or topic but I have not found anything.
I tried jailing and similar word in the search without a proper result.
thanks, for reading this
regards

[Q] root android

I am triing in rooting few device (lenovo ideatab a1000F, smasung packet neo, vodafone ideos u8150-d. But now, I am getting crazy. I can't find a correct valid guide. I tried kingo, unlock root. IN other site I found seems valid guide, but no link to the rom!
Can someone help me?
I first had a similar impression. If you're not used to the whole android world, it first looks quite confusing. Unclear were to find information, and many are outdated. Discussions and information are mixed in the forums, and most files are released on one-click-hosters.
In the end I found projects like CyanogenMod and OmniRom helpful. Their Wikis are much more clear than the forums to me. Though, once you read some threads on xda, you learn how to extract the important information from there as well.
So don't give up, try to find your way and don't be scared to try things out even if you're not too sure whether it's the right way
thanks

[Question] Guide for rom compilation.

Can anyone please provide a proper, elaborate guide for compiling roms for miatoll tree? Have time in lockdown and eager to learn the process.
The guides on google are way too generic or backdated. I guess it'll help many people like me if some DEVS took the time to write a guide which shall in turn, in my opinion promote more development.
Come on,some devs got to give something... I know I'm not the only one looking for this.....

Do you think following a "guide for compiling roms" enough to compile roms after roms... it's not so easy. I'm not developer, only was curious to try to build roms for my phone. All information you can find on the internet, just need to search.
If you really want to start and learn, first step is to prepare your PC to android build, ex.:
