This is a FULL recovery to 6.12.173 included. Its compatible with restoring from the ICS leak.
I recommend not running this from the root of the C drive. Users have had issues apparently

What do these actually do?
Restore Droid RAZR to 6.12.173 (Fastboot Restore. RSD Lite alternative. Must be in AP Fastboot Mode to do this)
Gingerbread Root (Roots 2.3.6 and below for Motorola Droids. Have USB Debugging enabled to do this. )
Unroot (Must be rooted to do this. Have USB Debugging enabled to do this.)
Install Voodoo's OTA Rootkeeper App</strong> (Use this app to stay rooted after an OTA. Have USB Debugging enabled to do this.)
Install Bootstrap Recovery App (Use this to make nandroid backups and flash Roms, themes, or mods. Have USB Debugging enabled to do this. Do not install this AND Safestrap. Pick one.
Install Safestrap Recovery App (Use this to make nandroid backups and flash Roms, themes, or mods. Have USB Debugging enabled to do this. Can essentially dual boot. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR NEW USERS. Do not install this AND Bootstrap. Pick one.
Overclock Install (http://www.droidrzr....our-droid-razr/ See coryjohn's guide on Overclocking. Have USB Debugging enabled to do this.)
System Pull (This is NOT a recovery program or backup program. This is for devs and power users. Have USB Debugging enabled to do this.)
Droid RAZR Root for ICS 4.0.3 (The GSM ICS leak can be rooted with this. Our ICS may also be.)
Boot into Fastboot from Debugging (Exactly what it says. Have USB Debugging enabled to do this.)
Boot Normally from Fastboot (If you are in Fastboot mode you can use this to boot normally)
Boot into Motorola Recovery from Fastboot (Read above. Exactly what it says it what it does.)
Boot into Motorola Recovery from Debugging (Have USB Debugging enabled to do this.)
ADB Shell (A way to more manually control your phone. For power users and devs. Have USB Debugging enabled to do this.)
Reboot Phone (Have USB Debugging enabled to do this.)

I was on .748 and wanted to get to the latest update (.173). I was told to run this utility and that should take care of it. I was running biganad's ICS Theme.
I feel a bit stupid but when I tried to run the .bat file, I get an error in the CMD window, it says:
'findstr" is not recognized as an internal or external command. operable program or batch file.
Too powerful to fall into the wrong hands.
Please make a selection or hit enter to exit:
I finally just hit "1" and I was able to finally run the utility and the good news is I was able to get it to work (I think). I hit both volume buttons after I got the ! triangle and wiped cache. It reboots and then after I hit "English" when choosing my language, I hit the "android guy" and it just sits there and spins and says "Please wait... this could take a few minutes".... but its been sitting there for 15 min doing this. Any idea on what might be the issue?
Can anyone help me? I am stuck on this set up screen and not sure why.
Reboot the phone
Dont touch the android
Touch each corner one at a time in the corners
Then press home

That worked great! Thanks!
My issue now is I seemed to have lost my data connection (phone). I can connect to my home wifi but I have no phone service. Any thoughts on how to get that back?

It's a random issue with 1/25 or so fastboots not wiping internal SD card like Motorola wants with the 173 fastboot files. A solution if wiping data and refastbooting doesn't work would be flashing the full 6.12.173 files (found on XDA or in my 1.40 utility). Those do wipe your internal SD though.
Also, the findstr command not found is from you somehow removing C:/system32/ from your PATH in Windows.

OK, thanks!
My only concern in flashing the full .173 file is if it erases my sdcard, how would I restore if something goes wrong? That was my only saving grace at this point because I was able to restore my previous backup.
I am wiping data but I'm not sure what refastbooting means?
Also, as far as the finstr command, should I fix it or does it matter?

It's how batch finds its basic windows commands. Having system32 as part of your path is kind of...very important
If you flash 173. with the wiping internal SD command taken out, you may experience the no signal issue.
I don't know what you mean by restore, considering this is already a restore process...
Refastbooting is fastbooting...again.

Ok. I am off to figure out how to put system32 as part of the path first (since it seems important). lol
What I meant by "restoring" was if I flash the whole .173 and end up losing my signal, I have no way to go back to a previous backup in which it did work. That is what I did last night. Since the signal wasn't working, I flashed back to my .748 backup.

Ok, I figured out the system32 issue and the utility it working good now.
But, I still have a problem with no radio (data). I ran the 1.40 (with the 1.41 PATCH) and it worked great but I still have no radio. The only commands I have run are #1, then I did the motofail and the Bootstrap Recovery.... but still no radio signal. Did I flash the correct utility? If not, could you link it for me?
EDIT: I just looked on my sdcard and saw that installing the 1.41 Utility did not wipe my sdcard. I must not be installing the correct one. I am following the directions by booting into AB Fastboot and then running the 1.40 (with 1.41 patch) Utility.

Maybe I should have ran the 1.4 utility, not the PATCH 1.41. I am going to try that. Wish me luck. lol

Did it and it worked like a charm! Thanks for your help!
Also, I ran the 1.4 Utility but it did not delete my sdcard contents... nor did I get the triangle (where you have to hit the volume up+down and wipe cache. It just install right though, I clicked the android guy to set up and it went just like I was upgrading via OTA. I was a bit confused but I just went with it. lol
Is 1.42 complete? Or do I need 1.40 and 1.41 also?
1.42 is complete
are there any instructions on how to use this step by step for a noob?
WOW! I'd tried just about everything to root my unbranded Asian (Taiwan) GSM Droid RAZR.
I updated my Moto drivers, ran the bat file, selected option #2, followed the instructions and...Hey Presto...I'm rooted!

Sorry for a noob question but I couldn't find an answer anywhere :
I have a Verizon Motorola Rarz Maxx, I wonder if I can sim-unlock it and use it on a GSM carrier here in Canada.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT : figured it out, I think GSM capability in XT 912 is disabled by Verizon.
New to razr. Finally retired my Incredible.
How do I return to stock? I rooted with this on Verizon 2.3.5. I've also installed bootstrap. Ran the update to 2.3.6 with voodoo rootkeeper.
But I have terrible earpiece buzz and want a replacement.
Do I just run option 1 to make my phone returnable?
Thanks

How to manually install Ice Cream Sandwich OTA update onto your RAZR / MAXX
These instructions will allow you to upgrade your stock "6.12.181.XT912.Verizon.en.US" Motorola Droid RAZR / RAZR MAXX to the OFFICIAL OTA Update.
If you are rooted, you will need to un-root. If you rooted your device, then you should know HOW to un-root without asking me.
Prerequisites:
■50% or higher battery charge
■A computer
■Your micro-USB cable to link phone and PC
■Stock "6.12.181.XT912.Verizon.en.US" phone. This can be checked via Settings>About Phone> "System Version"
■All files mentioned in the guide below.
■The ability to read instructions, and realize this is NOT complicated.
Before we begin, I am going to explain WHY this process isn't just a "copy/paste a file to your phone and update" affair.
When you download the update from Verizon through the "OTA" (Over-The-Air) process, your phone is instructed, via Verizon, to initiate the update.
Since you are here, you obviously have not received the update via that process, hence your phone has not been instructed to initiate the update,
regardless of whether or not you have manually downloaded the update files off the internet and placed them onto your phone. This process will force
the phone to initiate the update.
LET THERE BE ICE CREAM SANDWICH!
1.
Using your computer, download the update from here: http://www.goiww.com/xbot.html?task=weblink.go&id=29
The update will be named "Blur_Version.6.12.181.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip", which might be confusing since it says "6.12.181" and not "6.16.211".
This is because Motorola/Verizon name their updates based on what version you are coming FROM, not going to. The file is around 354MB.
Do not unzip the file, leave it alone.
2.
Once its done, use this program to make sure the MD5 Check-sums are the same. All this does, is scan the file bit-by-bit to ensure that no data was corrupted
or lost during the download. It ensures your file is 100% correct with no problems.
MD5 Checker: http://download1us.softpedia.com/dl/aba5016f69e48081d3569bb7993d6151/4fe60d9b/100022900/software/file_management/md5.zip
MD5 Check-sum: 79A1EE4A992EACD1D08F98DEE5DEEBF7
Copy this and paste it into the MD5 Checker program (there is a "Paste" button) and select your
update file, and it will automatically check it. If they codes match, continue.
If not, re-download the update file.
3.
Once you verify the file is 100% correct from above, place it on your phones EXTERNAL SD card. Plug your phone up to your computer, select
USB Mass Storage from the notifications bar on your phone.
Two Micro-SD cards will open on your computer. If you aren't sure which is the external card,
then just put the update on both of them. It's not going to affect
anything to have it on both cards. If for example, your SD Cards came up as drives "E" and "F"
in Windows, then you would place the updates
in "E:\" and "F:\", essentially the root folders for those cards.
4.Download the "Razr Utility 1.7" from here: http://goiww.com/mattlgroff/DroidRazrUtility1.7forICS.zip
It is 747MB. Again check it using the MD5 checker to ensure its the complete, correct file.
MD5 Check-sum: 40DC068DC4B0DFBA12C96A7D18C267E5
If the file is good, extract it to your desktop, or wherever you want. Open the file "DroidRAZRUtility.bat", you may not see the ".bat" part.
IMPORTANT
If you have old RAZR drivers installed, none at all, or aren't sure:
There is a "Drivers" folder included with "Razr Utility 1.7". Install either 32-bit or 64-bit versions depending on which type of windows
(x86 "32-bit" / or 64-bit) installation you are running on your PC. This can be checked by right-clicking "My Computer" and clicking to "Properties".
5.Turn your phone off. After the phone is off, hold down BOTH volume buttons and press the Power button. You will boot into the phones
boot loader. Using the VOLUME DOWN KEY, scroll down "AP Fastboot", and press the VOLUME UP KEY to select it.
6.
Make sure your phone is charged, at least 50% or higher, and plug it up to your computer (if it isn't already).
Start the Razr Utility 1.7, hit any key to continue when it tells you to. You will then be at a menu with options 1 through 9.
Select option 1, and follow the on-screen directions. Once it is finished the phone should reboot. Turn the phone off.
7.After the phone is off, hold down BOTH volume buttons and press the Power button. You will boot into the phones
boot loader. Using the VOLUME DOWN KEY, scroll down "Recovery", and press the VOLUME UP KEY to select it.
The phone will reboot, take a moment at a blank screen, and you will then see a green Android with an exclamation sign.
8.At the green Android and exclamation image, press BOTH volume keys at the same time and release. You are now in the phones recovery menu.
Using the volume keys, scroll down to "Apply update from external storage" and press the POWER button.
9.Scroll down to "/Blur_Version.6.12.181.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip" and hit the POWER button to apply the update.
10.The update process will take up to 10 minutes. After it is done, the phone will reboot itself. You are now on the ICS OTA Update.
IF YOU ENCOUNTER ANY PROBLEMS DURING UPDATE:
Reboot the phone into recovery again using step 7. scroll down to "wipe data/factory reset", press POWER, scroll down to "yes", and again hit POWER. After
the reset is complete, repeat steps 8 & 9.
■ ( COMPLETELY OPTIONAL)
I personally recommend doing a factory reset on your phone afterwards. You don't have to. If you've ever worked with
computers and installed a newer version of Windows over an older version, you'll know the newer version will still work, but
its slowed down a little by old files from older version of Windows you just replaced. Again, this isn't necessary, but recommended.
If you wish to do this, turn your phone off. Turn it back on by holding BOTH volume buttons down, and while holding them, press the Power button.
You will then have multiple options. Use the VOLUME DOWN key to scroll down to "Recovery", then press volume up to select it. The phone will
reboot into recovery to a picture of an Android with an exclamation point. Press BOTH volume buttons at the same time and release. Use the volume keys to scroll
down to "wipe data/factory reset", and hit the power button. Scroll down to "Yes" and hit the power button. After its done, select "reboot system now".
Congrats, you now have a 100% Factory fresh, Official OTA release 4.0.4 ICS RAZR/RAZR MAXX. Enjoy :]

hi there. i'm actually in the same position.
i had the bootstrapper, CWM and root. so prior to upgrading to ICS, i unrooted using oneclick tool, uninstalled boostrapper. still getting the same error as the screenshot above.
help is much appreciated. i just downloaeded 2.3.6 file from here.

will try to restore that and go really fresh.
thx.
update: someone at droidforums suggest this:
I had the same status 7 problem. Go to this link -[LEAK] Official ICS for the Bionic 4.0.4 (6.7.2231) & (6.7.2233)
Follow the directions. Make sure you have RSD lite version 5.7 ( 5.6 did not work) and the latest Motorola drivers ( old ones did not work). I was on 905 rooted, had to fxz back to 902, get the OTA update and then I flashed ICS with no problems. Works great. Also it is very important that you plug USB cable directly into computer and not into a USB hub ( I learned that the hard way last year!). Good luck!

Alright, here's how I fixed my issue. I downloaded a 902 FXZ, extracted it to my desktop. Downloaded RSDLite5.7, installed on my system. Ran RSDLite pointed it to the extracted 902 FXZ file, connected my Bionic to the computer, then started. This took several minutes but when completed, I was back on 902. With the phone disconnected from the computer, I ran the system update to get to 905. After that, I was able to flash to the ICS leak. I am not sure why this did not work initially, but I'm now running the ICS leak.

Just to verify (I'm just that way), does this firmware include the All-World radio upgrade (IE: as stated in the first post, this is the "official" ICS OTA release from Verizon that started rolling-out last week)?
This method didn't work for me. All it did was factory reset my phone? I followed everything exactly and I made sure I did because I read each instruction like 2/3 times before I did it.

The Pic you posted seems to indicate you're still trying to "update from zip" with the stock GB recovery installed.
The key to the whole process (at least for me) is to get the ICS recovery installed on the phone - the bot with its belly open and a blue orb and NOT the Exclimination bot above - before updating from the zip. Until you get the ICS recovery installed, you're going to keep error'ing out.
Use Matt's Utility option 1 as described in the OP. Go into recovery and check to see if the ICS recovery was installed - look for a bot graphic different than the one with the box and arrow initially. First, the laying down bot, then the blue orb bot. Once you get that, you can expect upgrade success. It might take two or three attempts at installing the zip with cache wiping in between but you'll get there.
You want to see the bot attached below

Yes. This version of ICS has a global radio setting: system settings -> wireless & networks More . . . -> Mobile networks -> Network Mode. Choices are Global, LTE/CDMA, and GSM/UMTS.

Hello guys! At last, it is here! This tool has some distinct similarities with hasoon2000's tool (which is awesome by the way), but it also has few differences, more will be explained below.
Please note, this tool has certain requirements that you MUST follow!
This will flash a T-Mobile OTA, so if you are on ANY other carrier, you must have SuperCID, or wait for a similar tool that I may release in the future for your specific carrier. As of now, you must have SuperCID in order to run this tool (although you can try without, but results are NOT guaranteed)
As noted in the title, this tool is currently in beta, so use this as your own risk! I have tested this many times myself, but unfortunately, I haven't had enough testers respond to my request, so I am releasing this to the community as I know this would be a valuable tool.
Also, due to some people in this forum, I feel compelled to state this in big, bold, colored text.
This tool is only meant FOR S-Off users, and it does not, in ANY way, give you S-Off! NO, it will NOT work with an unlocked bootloader. To use this tool, you MUST have S-Off, plain and simple.
Click to collapse
And now an explanation on what this tool does:
I've made a simple tool that will completely update your phone to the latest T-Mobile's OTA (Ice Cream Sandwich version), but without the need of reinstalling your custom recovery and reflashing SuperUser.
This is great for:
- People (especially newbies) with S-OFF that want to update to the latest OTA update, without having to find an Engineering/J-Bear hboot, without having to find a recovery to flash, without having to figure out how to flash superuser package, and without figuring out which fastboot commands to input.
- People without a SDCard, as this tool DOES NOT require a SDCard to flash the OTA!
- People who are stuck in a seemingly endless bootloop, and cannot figure out what to do in order to get the device back into a working state.
The true beauty of this tool is that it is ridiculously simple. All you really need to do is read the instructions, plug in your phone, run the program. In this program, you literally only have to touch your computer twice. The first one to accept the disclaimer, and then the 2nd to ensure that you have plugged in your USB cable.
Then this program will do the rest. It'll automatically detect which state your phone is in and then run the correct commands, check your S-Off state, flash the entire modified OTA*, detect whether the flash succeeded or failed, flash SuperUser and the free 4EXT recovery application, and does some other commands to ensure the phone works upon boot-up. This entire update should take no more than 15 minutes to complete, depending on your phone.
* The modified OTA update consists of 4Ext recovery, J-Bear Hboot (.2222), and a custom splash screen (hope you like it  )

Before we go any further about this S-Off tool, you need to understand that there is always a risk of damaging your phone, even though I have personally tested this tool many times.
By downloading this tool, you accept all risks associated with this tool. I am not responsible if this breaks your phone, bricks it, or otherwise render your phone unusable. The standard disclaimer applies to this situation. Although I will try to help you, you are still responsible for whatever happens to your device.
Alright, moving on.
You MUST ensure that you have met the following requirements:
-The HTC Amaze 4G must have S-OFF
-The device must have SuperCID! (If it's a non T-Mobile phone)
-The device must be rooted!
-Battery must be *FULLY* charged
-A Windows computer with ADB/Fastboot drivers installed Files are included - but if it does not work, install these yourselves manually
-You must have an USB *DATA* cable. -- If you can transfer files and send adb/fastboot commands with the USB cable, it will work
-You must have USB Debugging turned on!
-Most importantly, you must have the ABILITY to follow directions
I cannot stress this enough. Make sure your battery is of decent charge. You do not want to have your phone shut down in middle of the process.

Instructions:
(READ THROUGH THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!)
Step 0) Ensure that your requirements are met.
Step 1) Make a nandroid backup if you want to restore your phone to the way it was before the tool. After backing up, make sure to make a backup of the nandroid backup, and both of the internal and external SDCards to your computer. I can not guarantee if the tool will wipe your external SDCard (It shouldn't, but it doesn't hurt to be safe)
Step 2) Disable any antivirus applications. This is a precautionary measure. You don't want the antivirus to remove something important in the middle of the update.
Step 3) Download the tool
Step 4) Verify the MD5 checksums to make sure they match. You do not want a corrupted tool.
The MD5 checksum is displayed on the download site, but if you need it, the MD5 checksum is:
f697211a9a49b293c4b99eee80de47d9
Step 5) After verification, use your favorite file extraction utility, put the entire ToolV2 folder (not just the files, but the entire folder) in an accessible location such as the C:\ Drive, Desktop, or whatever is the easiest for you.
Step 6) Open the folder *IMPORTANT* DO NOT change the files, move them, rename them, or anything of that nature. If you do, the tool most likely will not work.
Step 7) Open the RUN-ME.exe file (with an icon like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
) *IMPORTANT* Do not extract the file named 'UltimateUpdater', leave it alone!
Step 8) Ensure that your phone is turned on. It can be in recovery, fastboot, or even in normal mode. It will automatically detect the device state. However, if possible, it is recommended to have your phone be booted into android.
Plug in the data cable. Make sure it is set to charge only (If booted into android). Do not forget to turn on USB Debugging!!!
Step 9) Follow on screen instructions. The process may take a while. Do not touch the phone, touch your computer, close the program, and most importantly, do NOT unplug the USB cable! It should auto-detect your device state, and it will detect your S-OFF state as a precautionary measure. When you get to this point like in the screen shot:
Follow it! Do not do any of those things! Leave it alone for 10 minutes! It will then detect if the update was successful. (If it does not do anything after 10 minutes, or does not detect anything, post on this thread and we'll see what needs to be done)

As I lost hope this utility actually worked!!! Hassons utility wouldn't read my phone. I flashed nightmare sense 1.6 and my phone wouldn't boot up, then I went to recovery like you're supposed to right? Using twrp and it just crashed and it automatically boot it up to the boot loop. And this helped so much thank you for this.

Before we go any further about this S-Off tool, you need to understand that there is always a risk of damaging your phone, even though I have personally tested this tool many times.

Hi, i flashed this OTA but my HTC amaze still in a bootloop, could you help me with this?
Are you on tmobile? if not did you SuperCID?
This tool has helped me several times, you should not be in a bootloop if you followed the steps correctly. it installs a completely new everything, recovery included (4ext). you should at least be able to access that from bootloader and restore a backup.

Any help regarding the tool from the developer..
First off...Thanks to Lokifish for all your hard work. I would post this in your thread, but I'm too new to post in the developer forums (though at least I was able to hit the thanks button).
So after reading through the entire deblur thread, being the n00b that I am, I was still hesitant to try it due to my uninformed decision to install the OTA update and not being able to find any post confirming it worked (on a stock phone) after that update. Well, I tried it anyway and just wanted to post somewhere that it worked flawlessly. I also wanted to include my own little "side guide" with precautions I took (after reading through the thread) that weren't in Loki's original guide, in hopes that it may help other n00bs such as myself to feel more comfortable with the process:
Make sure you have the latest drivers installed on you PC for your photon and the correct architecture. <--If you don't know what this means, stop here.
1. Root phone using photon torpedo method. http://www.groovypost.com/howto/motorola-photon-4-g-how-to-root-your-phone/ <--Thanks to kbeatzzz for his post. This method works and is easy to follow/do. <--Also thanks to edgan, obviously, for the photon torpedo method.
2. Install custom bootstrap recovery. <-- Thanks to topolovich for his post in the deblur thread.
This can easily be accomplished by following the "Custom Bootstrap Recovery" how-to video here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17302907 <-- Thanks to qbking77 for these guides! Awesome work.
I think it's best to copy the apk to external sd, but you can copy to internal storage if you want, and just recopy it later.
3. Boot into the custom bootstrap recovery and make a backup to your external sd card.
4. After backup is complete and you rebooted your phone, power off and remove the sd card.
5. Reset to factory defaults <--from Lokifish Marz guide (Don't worry, this will not "unroot" your phone)
6. Install Superuser (by ChainsDD) from android market ...Needed for superuser permissions later, you don't have to do anything other than click allow when superuser asks if the apps can have permissions and make sure that the box is checked so superuser remembers the answer (that's important). Also be sure to update to latest binary from within superuser app.
7. Install BusyBox (by Stephen Stericson) from the market <-- thanks to Lokifish Marz, KyleIsTheBeast, NukeFish posts. This only installs the installer. You have to open it and then click install to actually get busybox installed. Don't mess with any of the settings!!!!
8. Copy the entire "1deblur_lite" folder over to internal storage (latest version) as per Lokifish Marz instructions in the OP of the Deblur Thread
(If you can't figure out how to get to the actual download link, see Post 3 of this thread for more details)
9. Power down and insert sd card, then power up and reinstall the apk for the bootstrap recovery. Make sure to go through all the steps again outlined in the video guide I mentioned earlier. If you copied the apk to your internal storage earlier, you'll have to recopy it, otherwise just install from sd card.
10. After rebooting from bootstrap recovery, unplug the charger, and uninstall any apps that are not included in this guide. (Many of them only allow you to uninstall updates, these apps will be there no matter what so no need to uninstall updates on these) Doing this step was something I added just to make sure there's nothing that will conflict with the script.
11. Turn on Airplane mode <--Thanks to Lokifish Marz suggestion and to ZeroManArmy for experiencing a problem and posting instead of giving up
12. Do not perform this step until you read step 13 and make sure charger is unplugged... Run the script as per instructions outlined by Lokifish Marz in the Deblur thread. Watch the video!
13. WAIT about 5 minutes before removing the battery. <--Thanks to ZeroManArmy for his post
14. Then reinsert battery and power up. You should now have a deblurred phone
If you softbrick the phone, you should be able to boot to the custom bootstrap recovery and restore your backup. (I can't guarantee this because I did not brick my phone, but the recovery mode continues to function normally after running the script) I did run into one little bug where the ringer toggle icon disappears after a while. This is likely an issue with one or more apps I have installed, because I haven't found any posts about this. I will ask in the Q&A forum to see if Lokifish might see it and help me get the icon back. This is a very minor issue though as the toggle still works.
I hope Lokifish does not take offense to the above guide. I just figured since taking these steps helped me to be "brave" and try it, they might help others too.

In the OP of that link, scroll down to the video. Just above the video is a "Downloads:" link. That will take you to the Martian Imperium site. Click Enter. Click Downloads, click Motorola, click the link on the right (v1.0.8). From there you have to do a bit of add dodging (This helps Lokifish host the file and keep track of how many times it's downloaded):
DO NOT click any of the colored stuff, scroll down an click the ACTUAL BUTTON that says "Download or Watch". The new page will have a BIG GREEN ARROW pointing down in the center of the page. Click the "Download" link just below the arrow. Now you have to wait. Eventually it will connect and you can download the zip file. What you need to copy is located in that zip file: The "1deblur_lite" folder.
Note: You're probably going to have to close a bunch of popups. No worries, there's no adware/spyware or anything, just don't click anything you're not supposed to

Did you make a backup first as described in step 3 above? If so, boot into bootstrap recovery and restore from backup. Otherwise, you'll have to flash back to stock or another ROM. If you're on the 2.3.5 OTA update, which I suspect you are, then see below:
You can flash back to stock using a bootstrap flashable zip of the OTA update located here, thanks to mof9336
You can also flash to a De-Blurred Slim ROM that is bootstrap flashable and works with the 2.3.5 kernel/bootloader, also thanks to mof9336. You can find it here
I'm currently using v1 of the above ROM because I ran into some issues with voicemail on v2, but this doesn't seem to be the case with others who are running it, so I would definitely recommend trying v2 first.
Hope this helps

As far as I know, wiping the data partition (factory reset) kills bootstrap recovery because it's not a true custom recovery. The only thing I can think of would be to use RSD Lite. Check out the following post and be prepared to do a lot of reading. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798145
Also, there may actually be a full Photon 2.3.5 SBF available by now, though I haven't found one. You may wanna try looking. If you find it, let me know.
Hope this helps
Keep in mind, I'm still a n00b myself and I am offering suggestions based on limited knowledge.

Options:
1) Fresh Root - This is to do a clean root on your stock Asus JB rom or any other custom rom. Great for any users that lost root during an upgrade.
2) Fresh Start - This will give you a clean start by wiping your system partitions (backup your data) then flashing a stock JB image. After the package will do a clean root to the TF201 (Make sure you download the JB update for your region from the Asus site then extract and place the "blob" file in the same folder as this package and rename to "system.blob"
!!! This is for users with from any region with unlocked bootloaders only !!!
I made this because a few users have had trouble with root after the JB update from Asus. What I have made is an automated package that includes the root binaries and the the Team Win Recovery. From FASTBOOT this package will flash a custom recovery then root it. If a previous broken root from an update exist it will remove the old broken root and re-root it. Simple as that!
Additionally I have made another option in this package called "Fresh Start" and what this will do is wipe you tablet clean (backup your data) then flash a new image of JB. Once completed it will flash the custom recovery and root it before you even sign-in and set up the tablet. I recommend this as it will make the tablet nice, clean & speedy.
This assumes you have the correct drivers installed for your device, if not I recommend my Universal Naked Drivers Here

Thanks for the feedback, being its automated you just have to get use the on screen instructions. I wiped and re-flashed, then rooted about 30x in a row with this package so I thought I would release to others to make their life easier.
If anyone has suggestions for any instructions that were not clear enough let me know and I can update for clarity.

You have missed the step that mounts the /System from recovery. This has to be done manually then ADB can push ROOT. It said write failed so i assume this is where you got stuck.
1) Make sure you run as "Admin" just in case
2) When you boot into the custom recovery, you must select the "Mount" icon then then select system. After then you continue with the batch file and all should be good.
I can confirm that this worked w/ my TF201. Thanks a bunch!
I was unlocked and had root plus a "backup" according to Voodoo OTA RootKeeper. I manually installed the JB update via sdcard and lost root plus all signs of root. Being unlocked, I used your method in Win7 (parallels virtual machine on mac) running a shell as admin and everything worked without any hitches. I have root and have verified by Voodoo OTA, Root Explorer, and Titanium Backup.
A big thanks to you for this. I now have root again!

For anyone having issues with the ADB command I would manually try ADB before this package. This package assumes you have your drivers working in FASTBOOT & ADB. Or when you get the recovery flash and you have booted the recovery open a second prompt and try the "adb devices" command before this package pushes root.
I see that you have quite a few amount of post and would think you have some experience, since you are still having issues I would say that the drivers are dirty or something else weird is going on.
You have mentioned you get the recovery flash then booted, at this stage can you go to your device manager and take a screen shot of the Android device? You may have to repoint the device to the drivers but non the less a screen shot would help.
is there something like this but not for unlocked bootloader? I lost root on OTA but i didn't have it unlocked and don't want it to be fore now, I'm just using stock.
Works beautifully!
Thanks for root back!
I'm running CM10 unofficial right now but it's giving me some issues I'd rather not deal with right now...it already has the JB bootloader...can I still flash this to go back to stock[JB]?
I was wondering how to reinstall a recovery and to root again... Thanks!
Note: i just copy command lines from the bat file because i'm on linux.
Just wanted to say: it worked perfectly and painlessly on my already unlocked but otherwise stock prime!
Hi,
Coming from Completely Stock Prime with JB update. Unlocked BL via Asus Tool then used this method and everything went Perfect!! Thanks for your Effort.
I have to say that I'm glad to see you made this, worked great. Tried many other ways to root jb after I flashed androwook and lost custom recovery and root.
You're awesome!

Do i lose erverthink or will i keep my current stock rom whitout installing erverthink.
Thanks works like a charm, unlocked my prime and installed the naked driver let the batch file do it work. back on rooted system with everything working
So I'm trying to do the Fresh start but can't for the life of me figure out how to move and rename the blob file unfortunately. I've got the extracted JB update file on my desktop but can't rename the blob file, right clicking it won't give me the option...
I'm supernoob with this device so can anyone please walk me through or figure out what I'm missing? Please...
Edit: well, looks like I've just gotten myself an unrecoverable bootloader...
more detailed instructions would be appreciated
I am a noob to this device and just unlocked the bootloader.
Can you post detailed step-by-step instructions for your method in the OP or PM. I am also wondering if TWRP version has been updated to 2.3.
Thank you very much.

Is there something I'm supposed to do before attempting to root, like unlock the bootloader or something?
Thanks in advance,

I used the self extracting file, just like in the video.
I bought the phone used so I'm not sure of its history. But as far as I can tell, it's completely stock and unrooted.
When I run the executable it just hangs after restarting the daemon. The phone doesn't do anything. I Even tried going into fastboot manually as suggested in the video. No luck what so ever.
install moto drivers manually
turn phone on
enable usb debugging (system/apps/developer options)
connect to pc
change usb mode to charge only or pc mode
if you did that, try toggling usb debugging off/on

Just started over fresh to make sure I didn't miss anything. Did a factory reset on the phone (erased all data on internal storage and sd card). Then I downloaded and installed the drivers (MotorolaDeviceManager_2.3.4.exe). Then I ran the self extracting file (DroidX2_Root_2012.exe). No dice. Same as before. The script stalls after restarting the daemon and phone does nothing. I even made sure I was using the stock Motorola cable to connect the phone to the computer.
Do I need to SBF to a different release, like 2.3.4?
read the Voodoo method

Oh, btw, I made sure usb debugging was on....after toggling it on and off a few times. I also tried both charge only and pc mode for the USB connection.
also depends on what you are going to do rooted
if you are going to flash eclipse, flash 2.3.5 sbf, and retry root
if you are going to flash any other roms, use 2.3.4 sbf, and toot with pete's root tools, or moto fail, superoneclick......

Not exactly sure what rom I will end up with. I figured on starting with a MIUI rom as I've used them on a couple other devices. I'm familiar with them and pretty happy with the performance.
With that said, it looks like I should SBF to 2.3.4 and them try to root. Correct? Any other suggestions?

I would recommend MIUI 2.8.10 because it is running Ice Cream Sandwich ! MIUI4DX2 (the one running gingerbread has really huge problems when it comes to stability with games ! Anyways yes MIUI is beautiful but has some little bugs but as a daily driver i recommend it after you have flashed the ROM you should get Titanium Backup Pro and freeze a couple things but make sure you know what you are doing! I never use v6 supercharge because for some reason it makes my phone run slower :/
