Hi community. I've been using chrome beta for quite some time now, and been running aokp even longer and have had no issues with either working together. But unfortunately about about a week ago, I've not been able to use chrome any longer. I'm not sure what changes I made to my gtab or if something I did is the root of the problem but now when I launch chrome it complains I'm not running an compatible version of andriod. Specifically; "chrome is not supported for your version of Android." And that I need at least 4.0. Going to about tablet I see 4.0.3 so im not sure where the disparity lies. I've done some basic troubleshooting like clear data, reinstall, flash newer aokp build, etc but still same trouble. Sorry in advance if this has already been addressed somewhere....did a few searches and didn't see anything.

Hi friend,
Browse to the system directory with es file explorer open build.prob, Open settings menu, root, Set to r/w and edit the line ro.build.id=HTJ85B to: ro.build.id=IML74K
OR
Easiest way though is to use a free app - there is an app on the app store called "build.prop Editor" which will allow you to edit the one line too.
Find the line:
ro.build.id
click on it, and change the value from:
HTJ85B
to:
IML74K
Reboot once completed, and chrome will now work , and new version is faster

Do you have the .apk? For some reason it doesn't show up in the market and when you go to the web-based version of the android market it says it isn't compatible.
Yes i want it too .
Have you changed your screen density? Thats a major cause i've noticed.
you will need to edit your build.prop to identify your phone differently. The way CM7 and Miui writes up the build numbers and model number of the device makes it so many apps and games either don't show at all or show as incompatible.
also latest miui 1.10.28 which brings us up to GB 2.3.7 i would recommend an update.
i was bored, Build.prop edited and tested (Miui 1.10.28). apps on market fixed, this includes muffinknight and all Gameloft games ie Order and Chaos
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18596484/build.prop
Hate to be the noob, but can I use a root file explorer and simply replace my build.prop file with yours? Copy/replace? How would I go about it?
i would recommend es file explorer, its a free root explorer, and yes you can drag/drop my build.prop over yours, but again only tested on miui 1.10.28

Does anybody have the APK for Jeannie. I cannot locate it for the Samsung Galaxy S2.
Looks like the Chrome Beta is out on the market, says it works for ICS devices only. I installed it on my Xoom and extracted the apk in hopes of installing it on my Rezound anyway, but I get the parse error message. Anyway, market link and a DL for the apk are below, if someone cares to spend the time to get it working:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.android.chrome
http://db.tt/GHQM6yGj
It's a free app, so I don't think I'm breaking any rules by posting the apk, but if I am, sorry bout it.

Works fine on my ICS ROM. Try just dropping the APK in your /data/app. It looks a lot better and renders faster than dolphin and the stock browser.
I must be doing something wrong, when I tried to drop it in using ES File Explorer, it tells me that the copy failed.

I'm running stock Gingerbread; just got my Rezound a week ago and haven't got around to trying out an ICS ROM. Dropping the APK into /data/app doesn't appear to work, but I didn't really expect it to work so easily
I don't have any idea if it's possible to hack this to work with GB, but that would be pretty sweet.

Went in with ROM Toolbox, seems that ES doesn't have SU privileges for some reason. Will need to find out what that is about.

If you're on Nils' ICS ROM you should just be able to install it.
Yep still on Nils ICS ROM, but its not letting me install it, has to do with security settings, its weird, he already said he took out the need to allow third party apps. I am going to play with it some more and see what I can figure out before I ask him.

Push the lib manually of you have issues on cm9
To do that, do this:
Extract the apk (root explorer)
Find the .so files in /lib/armeabi_v7
Copy them to /data/data/com.android.chrome/lib
Make them all rwxr-xr-x

Shortest and easiest method is make sure that you have sufficient space in /datadata partition. Try using app cache cleaner to clear some space and reinstalling chrome.
If it still doesn't work extract the /data/app/com.android.chrome-1.apk to some folder in your sdcard go to lib/armeabi_v7 and copy the libraries to /data/data/com.android.chrome/lib
It should work now.

I have a ICS rooted SpringBoard (T-MO) AKA MediaPad and Chrome Beta crashes every time i try to access the settings as well. I also can't get the tab sharing to work, but the bookmarks do sync.
With the help of another xda member. (Halfcalf) we now have hulu plus for our device. All you need to do is place the extracted files from the zip I will upload into your titanium backup folder then restore the app AND data. All three files must be in the titanium backup folder. Not just one big folder. It took me a few tries but it works. I'll answer questions as your post.
I also noticed that after the first time it said unsupported..i just went back to titanium and restored the data again..if you have any buffering problems..that on hulu not the app.
Im currently watching hulu on my tab as we speak
Please post back if this works for you.

OK this is good news as you don't need to install an app from other sources. It can be downloaded straight from the market and it works on ANY device.
So download the latest hulu plus from the market.
Download any root file manager. I use root explorer but any other file browser that let's u edit data folder would do it.
Open file browser and go to /data/data/com.hulu.plus/shared_prefs and open cSPrefs.xml
Now in that file there's a huge string named lastTimeOut.
In that string look for ns_ap_device= and replace what's in between that and &. In my case I'm running cm9 so I have ns_ap_device=p5& where p5 is the devices name. Change that to a supported devices name, I used Xooms device name Stingray so the end result will be ns_ap_device=Stingray&
Just replace that part without touching anything else. Save the file and reopen hulu. It should work now.
That will work even it the app gets updated and its an easy fix if you clear data or something.
Let me know how it works for y'all and remember to hit thanks if it helped you
enjoy your hulu.

When I open cSprefs.xml it is only a couple of lines long and doesn't have the above string of text in it anywhere. I am using Root Explorer to open and edit the file, would that be the problem?
When i download the zip it says the directory isnt found. I cant even find the zip once i download it.

So I decided to try this again. I understand the directions now i do the following.
Use root explorer and open cSPrefs.xml
I find the text string mentioned above and change "p5wifi" to"Stingray" then save and close the file.
I then reopen the file and confirm the change. Then when I open hulu plus I get the device not supported error. When i reopen cSPrefs.xml it has changed the device back to p5wifi.
Can anyone help me please.

Oh well. Not a big deal.
From the article: "Transfer the file (from pc) then use a file browser to open the apk. Once that's done, navigate to settings>home and select Google Now Launcher as the default.
Edit: I successfully downloaded the file, on my phone, located with file explorer, clicked to open, had to allow apps from unknown sources, and selected it as default launcher.

Perhaps, in security settings, allow unknown applications.

Why not just get it from the play store again? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.launcher Just saying that will probably work better if available in your play store like it is mine...
Edit: may need a 4.4 ROM in order to do so.

The one in the play store requires Android v4.4 - you will get a message saying not compatible with your device if running 4.3 or earlier.
Also, if you download the modified APK that does work on 4.2 ad 4.3, it will indicate you need a newer version of google search, even if you have the latest version already downloaded.
There was an older version that was modified to work with the Nexus 4, but the version is so old that the feature set isn't worth the switchover vs the default stock Sense 5.0 experience, at least IMHO.
