Plugging into my computer causes bsod - HTC Rezound

I just picked up a rezound. When I tried plugging it in to my computer (win 7), it caused a blue screen of death and dumped the physical memory. I tried it a couple more times and it crashed immediately every time. I tried downloading and installing drivers from HTC, and that didn't work either. Any ideas?

Tried it on another computer?

Just in case someone else has this problem, it turns out that a program called DVD43 was causing a conflict. Once I shut it down, the computer stopped crashing.

Odd, I would try removing that from your computer if you can. I got my Rezound and plugged it in after 10 minutes of it being delivered and it installed the drivers and worked perfectly.

I didn't have any problems with my work computer either, so I knew there was a conflict in there somewhere!

weird, been using anydvd for years (have the unlimited update license) and its never caused any crashes of anything.

DVD43 & Rezound don't play nice
I was also getting the BSOD on my Win7 computer every time I plugged in my Rezound. I exited DVD43 and the problem is gone.

[Q] USB Connection problem?

Hey, so when I try to connect my GS2 to the computer (via USB), it doesn't connect for some reason. After connecting it, it takes about 5 secs and it starts to charge but doesn't connect to the computer. I've tried a couple of different ROMs and also on 2 other computers and its the same result. I need help please. Thanks
First make sure drivers are installed if so then try another cable that could be the problem.

You are missing the drivers. Search via Google for the hardware ID or simply by the model of the phone.

I have had the drivers installed, and I tried my brother's HTC usb cable and it still doesn't work.
My thread is right above yours. There are USB port issues with this phone. Although I feel for you, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. If you have insurance take it back cuz it only gets worse. Flash stock while you still can, if you're not already running it. Trust me.

Parsing Swype beta

I am trying to install the Swype beta on my wifes Rezound and I am getting the parsing error. I have it installed already on my Rezound with no problems. We are both out of box stock. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same issues on my sensation xe. Think it's a problem with their servers, downloaded thousands of times before only today I'm getting parse errors. I've re-flashed my Rom too, after a superwipe.

Re downloading Swype didn't make a difference. I think it is her phone. Seems like the screen won't time out either. Phone is 2 days old. Looks like I'm going back to the store.

Same thing happening to me I don't think it's her phone. So calm down. There's slide keyboard. Try swiftkey in my opinion is best keyboard on market

Same issue here updated an evo3d to ics and cannot get swype to work at this time with the parsing error.. This is pretty concrete it's not client side
It seems to be working for me now. Maybe give it a try. Checked their forums earlier and a lot of people were reporting the problem.

Not being able to install Swype isn't the reason to go back to the store. The fact that the screen won't turn off (time out) is. I will give Swype another try. She just got the phone Friday and I noticed right off the bat that if you didn't push the power button, the screen would stay on. This phone is still way more awesome than the charge. Thanks for the advice.

This may be a stupid suggestion, but did you check the timeout settings? Mine never times out either, but it's on purpose.
Right, I know its weird but after flashing 2 roms friday, I went this order each time. Downloaded the beta and ran the apk, went to the sign in screen, put in my email and pw. Hit the download english swype, got the parsing error. Backed out to the login screen. Put in the activation code there instead for the pw(my account was already activated...but was trying anything.) Said incorrect pw. I then relog back in with the correct user/pass. Aaaaand it worked. Both times...don't ask me why, it just did.
Restarted Phone
I have the same issue using the Swype Installer on the Samsung Captivate. It's happened to me no matter how many ROMs I've tried (4 separate ROMs so far). I have this parsing error, I simply restart my phone.
On a side note:
I noticed I only have this problem on the first boot of any ROM I have flashed. For example, I flashed Team Nyx ROM earlier and on that first boot, I couldn't get the installer to download. After I restored all of my apps, I just rebooted and it worked.
... This has been my experience, so I hope this may be helpful to someone else having issues.

Dude, you were right. I think it's not so much putting in the activation key as it is just trying repeatedly. After about 10+ tries it finally installed and works.

[Q] pc won't recognize phone

So I went back to stock to get the little ota. Received it and now nothing. Although the phone does charge. It's always worked in the past for adb and such. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure you have checked but you have gone back and selected to enable USB debugging in the developer options right? Stock roms usually aren't checked by default.

When that happened to my first Rezound ultimately the only choice was a warranty return. Not sure they still have Rezounds now. Not sure how it happened, only that one day I couldn't connect to PC. Couldn't even run fastboot usb. It charged (thankfully) but it didn't connect.

Help needed. DNA wont boot/charge

Hello,
If anyone can save me a couple hundred bucks that I dont have, I would appreciate it.
Im running an S-OFF Unlocked DNA with
This rom - http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2141129
and this kernel - http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2021714
I've been running it without issues for two weeks. Today it just wouldnt turn on. It doesnt accept a charge. Ive gotten the white HTC screen to come on for a second a couple times, and I've gotten it to boot up fully once. But after the screen timed out, it wouldn't come on again.
Any help would be appreciated. Dont have money to buy another phone.
I've tried searching. Most people that have boot issues can at least get to a bootloader or recovery screen. I cannot.
Have you tried letting it charge for a long while? I've heard it takes some times up to fifteen minutes for the charging led to even lit.

Open up the phone and try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it if you feel comfortable doing that. I suggested that to a user having the same problem as you and that fixed it a couple of days ago.

I personally have never opened up this phone so I wouldn't know. But this is a suggestion that worked for someone else and has also worked when my nexus 7 did a similar act. It wouldn't indicate it was charging and wouldn't turn on but disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it worked for me. I doubt it's something to do with software as you said your set up was working fine for 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure this should fix it for you.

Well, I got the battery disconnected and reconnected. Even though the battery sits under the motherboard, the battery has a thin connector that its accessible without removing anything else. It doesnt appear that my problem has been fixed. I guess I wont ever know, my screwdriver slipped off the screw and connected with a pin on the board and sparked. Pretty sure I just shorted the whole thing.
Claim insurance or warranty. It sounds like a hardware problem if that didn't fix it.

I should mention it was jtagged. Not saying that was the root cause. But the inside of the phone is definitely different than a stock one. Mobiletechvideos.com put a different film on it than the one it came with. Any chance of warranty or insurance is out.
You can still try to claim it. Most of the time they aren't looking inside the phone. Though this really isn't your fault. It sounds like the hardware failed and that is why it wouldn't charge and boot. But we won't know now. I don't know how jtag works but it could have contributed to it.

I guess i could still try. Should they happen to figure it out, would they contact me before fixing, replacing, or charging me? I guess thats the part I'm worried about.
I believe they would probably just charge you. Not really sure how it works. I have never paid for insurance and I have never broken my phones.
Take a look at this.

Just to add my 2 cents,
I have sent back phones to verizon and asurion for issues and every phone except one was rooted and never had an issue. I even traded in my thunderboolt towards the dna when it came out (they offered me $72.00) and all i did was uninstall superuser/busybox & titanium backup right in front of the rep and my fiance then handed it right to the guy on the spot. He turned it on, made sure the touch screen worked & then said ok, you get full trade in price.
As for the other phones that I sent in, droid eris, incredible and 2 samsung, all with one issue or another, never once did they charge me or call or anything. Got the new phone next day, sent the old one in and thats it. I have never had an issue.
Now I know this may not have happened for every one but I think if you just send it in via mail and not have an instore rep look at it, you will never have an issue. I think if an in store rep sees an issue and realize its rooted, they may flag it in case it goes in for verizon replacement or asurion replacement but just a normal send in should not cause an issue.
