Hi Everybody,
the update for the DE SKU is now being pushed. Just installing it...
Cheers,
stb
UPDATE: Install went smooth. Build number is IML74K.DE_epad-9.4.2.15-20120221. No issues so far (bootloop, ...)
don't forget to use voodoo OTA rootkeeper to back up n save your root file. so you can easily restore root afterwards. slot of people be forgetting. even if you forget, there's a new root in developement section that's a simple apk. install. no linking up to computers or adb. just install app, follow directions n you're rooted. its called SparkyRoot.apk
I'm currently updating... The animation is cool
EDIT: Smooth as butter. No issues updating and since I had my daily reboots with .11 I'm curious if those are gone now.
Im still having issues with GMail and E-Mail app.
Theyre forceclosing hell a lot and only a reboot does fix it for a while...
I think im going to return my prime
One thing I noticed: With .11 the manual brightness didn't work correctly. Neither the slider in the notification window nor the keyboard hotkeys enabled me to set the brightness exactly the way I wanted to.
While sliding brightness was ok, but after releasing the slider it went brighter on it's own. With the keys on every stroke brightness flashed up and got down again to a lower level.
With .15 this is gone, everything now works as expected.
Some kind of release notes or fix notes would be fine, Asus!
Just upgraded to .15 and even Voodoo OTA Root Keeper has worked.
It seems that WiFi has been improved, I get a better reception now here at my work-place.

For some people the WiFi speed is significantly reduced if they are using WiFi and BT at the same time.

I will check this evening.
Just a quick note, that the DE .15 firmware is also available as a complete zip file on Asus Homepage. Downloading right now.
Updated and restored root without problems. GPS still nonexistant. Everything else works fine as before.
I dont see any changes. Wifi didnt change at all. Still same

Just wondering if anyone has anything (good/bad) to report about the OTA update. Figure this would be a good place to post those issues for the people who are still hesitant about updating. I have the 2.1 v3 non-root and have yet to update. Thanks.
Having issues with 2.1 I can't find ANY HTC widgets. Tried to reload the digital clock with the weather app at the bottom and realized the phone doesn't have any HTC widgets, only shows the android native widgets. Anybody else having this problem, got any advice how to solve this?
I just manually updated to 2.1 (Official) and now my weather app doesn't work. Widgets are ok, just opening the app causes a force close. Any way to fix this? Might call customer support tomorrow and tell them the OTA got to me and it won't work now.
From what I've seen around a reboot might fix that if you haven't tried that already

Haha thanks, but I've tried it several times. Also, the recovery doesn't work with the official update.zip. I'm assuming that it's because the versions are the same, but if it says RECOVERY then I'm wondering why it won't RECOVER like I'm trying to do now. Any other ways to reinstall the OTA?
I manually updated my wife's around 10 am today and about 3 hours ago, she started havin no sound issues. couldnt hear through the earpiece, phone vibrates instead of rings, speaker will not play volume. I have tried everything. Making sure all settings are in place like volume TTY. Reboot fixes it for about five minutes then right back to the same thing. Hard resetting now. If it still does it I'll probably take it in and demand a new one i guess...lol
EDIT: Should I have to reprogram on a hard reset after this update? Hmm somethings not right about that...
Ive had no problems with the OTA. I went from stock 1.5 to OTA 2.1
It seems that people with leaked 2.1 v3 won't get the ota. My friend has an Eris with 1.5 and just got
it but I didn't.
-------------------------------------
Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App
I don't think anyone who is running any leaked version is getting an update right now. There is an issue with the hboot versions it seems.
Don't worry, two things have been confirmed.
First the OTA will not work with the leaked ROMs installed.
Second, the OTA is exactly the same as the 2.1 leak v3.
This was confirmed on Android forum by someone that took the time to compare every single file and CRC the binaries. The only difference was that the leaked ROMs use a different bootloader to install as they did and the actual OS and apps are exactly the same so if you got leak v3 you got the OTA.
The OTA won't install because you are already running it.
if you have rooted 2.1 (test keys) and you downgrade to back to 1.5 any one if this will allow you to get the OTA update? i installed the rooted 2.1 (test keys) but never installed a custom ROM (the second half of the directions on XDA forum) and I still haven't received the update. but I was thinking of downgrading to 1.5 to see if i can get the update.
anyone having problems with live wallpapers on 2.1? or was this not included with the 2.1 for eris?

Unfortunately it wasn't included.
just found out about 2.1 this morning...
I'm a verizon rep for an authorized premium retailer, and one of my customers came up to me today with her eris complaining about all her contacts being gone and her album not being there... her exact words: "What happened??? I clicked the update thingy and now half my ****'s gone!" Personally I laughed slightly, then checked the software version, found it updated to 2.1 and figured the deal. Her sound is working fine, she now has a couple more widgets she wont know how to operate, and albums is now "photos", and contacts is now "People". also required a resync to get her contacts back, but now she's golden.

Quick question about TaskBar (process killer) widget. Anybody know how to program it to ignore certain processes? Like sense... I tried using it but it killed sense every time. Along with mail and the weather process, which I don't care so much about, waiting for sense to reboot every time is a serious pita though...
I previously had 1.5 stock eris. I downloaded the official OTA zip and manually installed it. I had a few issues at first.
1. I had Spare Parts installed and had set my End key to first goto home screen and then lock. 2.1 did not like that setting and so my end key wouldn't do anything except turn it on from sleep and end a call until I changed the setting to just lock the phone.
2. Couple apps wanted to be updated to a new version after installing 2.1 before they would work.
3. Here is my unresolved issue - All my apps that I had installed before 2.1 no longer have write access to my SD card.
For example Astro File Manager showed my permissions on /sdcard as dr-. Reloading the card, rebooting, etc did not fix the issue. Uninstalling and reinstalling seems to have fixed the issue.
Why did this happen in the first place and is there an easier fix than uninstalling/reinstalling all my apps?
I've had the same disappearing HTC widget issue as was mentioned earlier, but a reboot (with a battery pull) didnt fix the problem. Is a hard reset my only option?
my girlfriend installed the OTA and now only the stock ringtones work when receiving a call- she set up custom ringtones for a few contacts, but if they call, the default ringtone rings.
I was running the leaked 2.1 eris rom on a MyTouch 3g and had the same issue, so i'm guessing it's not an easy fix. anyone else seeing this?
2.1 OTA back to 1.5
Hi everyone, I had many problems with 2.1 I manually installed 2.1 OTA from 1.5. everything went smooth, once running first thing i notice I click on the HTC clock weather, and it force closes, ok great, found a trick to delete the cache for weather provider, boom works, then i find out I do infact have the 50% time without signal issue, well I figured it wasn't too big of a deal, but after basically cutting my time in half going from 2 days no charge, to barely making one day, and I've heard that it would just take time as it did when first getting the phone.. which makes sense as it was the case with 1.5, week later not much improvement, so..
I would just like to comment on my experience. It went so smooth, it was in-fact easier to set back to 1.5 than it was to initially, manual install the OTA 2.1... I downloaded the MR2 file, unzipped the file, went through the computer on screen step-by-step process, Took less than 10 minutes, and of coarse as soon as turning the phone back on with 1.5 I see the OTA msg. I'm, just praying it doesn't get too annoying..
With the 1.4.1 updated looming, I rooted my Nook last week by following the instructions Indirect created. It was extremely easy and I was enjoying root access. Today my Tablet popped up a message stating that it had updated to 1.4.1. I still have Super User access. The only app that is not working so far is Android Market, it crashes when you open it. I am afraid to restart it though. I don't know what will happen. Has anyone else experienced this?
The market crash today is why i came here nosing around to find the bad news. ( it worked last week as i installed the latest vmware VDI client from the market ) Mine was rooted as well, so i can confirm the same exact symptoms.
Some of my other apps no longer work right, such as video playback from esfile explorer, and button savior's "back" button doesn't seem to do anything now. I also had 2 other apps on the home screen that wont even load their icons now.
same issue here.. updated to the last version.. i didn't tried the methods to prevent the update.. in fact i don't follow enough for this
market is uninstalled or hidden at least
button savior shortcuts for "settings" and "previous" doesn't work anymore, but "home" works.. too bad !
I've been to the B&N community website to help .. let's hope for an update in a better way
I sounds like there were be a follow up update to resolve the side-loading issue that got broken, and probably is responsible for the problems you're experiencing. I hope mine doesn't update. I'm rooted, but also followed the sqlite method.
I hope so too. Please let us know, I am interested if the that method does indeed block the updates. Before I go downgrading and starting over I would like a clear view of what I need to do to block future updates. Thanks.
have done it all and recorded it all. Everything posted by the developers work and I prove it on video. Checkit out. Recovery to 1.4.0 is uploading now and will be on my channel in the morning. OTA block using titanium backup works perfectly.
Try the sideload wonder machine. You need the apk file of the app you want to install on your computer.

Unfortunately even with rooting, 1.4.1 self-installed on one of our NTs.

Rooting won't do anything to stop updates if you rooted before, say, late last night, when the rooting method post was updated to include blocking. So... the title of the thread is not that noteworthy If you did not block bn's update apps, did not do anything to block updates, then yes you will receive updates.
My wife and I both have rooted NT's. I did the fix that Indirect posted where it changes your version to 9.9.9 and my NT did not receive the update so far. My wife on the other was relying on the rumor that having the FOTA.apk would block the update...wrong. She just received the update tonight when she turned the wifi on. So I guess this can confirm that Indirect has a successful method (simplified sqlite) that will block the update.
I got Android Market problem since yesterday though I'm showing firmware 1.40 under device info.
UPDATE:
I did an unroot then root it again, follow Albert's video to block the OTA, ver. shown 9.9.9, everything seems working so far. Thanks Albert & Indirect for their hard work!
My wife's NT updated yesterday despite being rooted as well. I thought the OTA upgrade was supposed to be blocked with the root...Looks like I'm going to try downgrading it right now...
I also saw the link over in the dev forum ( that i cant post in ) for downloading 1.40
Who all has done this and got things back in order? I think that when i got mine i *had* to be on WIFI to set it up, which of course is bad since i will just get the 1.41 update and be back where I'm at now.
If that isn't the case, perhaps a step by step for us borderline newbies to get back to 1.40 + no OTA

Just found that link about 10 mins ago too.. thanks much. i'm trying it now and crossing my fingers.
Seems i got a reply from B&N about my complaint just now .. but all they wanted to do was tell me i can download the free app for my PC to read books.. wtf .. what happened to reading comprehension in customer service ..
Albert, I followed your instruction and video and all works exactly like your video. even down to the nonfunctional n button. Thankfully, the interrupted boot sequence worked. Now I've just gotta fix this force close issue...
Mine is back to normal now yay.. ( i cant edit posts yet apparently )
I did have a problem where the 'revert' to 1.40 was not actually erasing any user data so i had a complete mess of things. But, i was able to go into settings and deregister to get it back to stock. Then got it back to 1.40 and ran the root/etc.
Still miffed at B&N, but at least i no longer have a borderline worthless shiny object.
And glad I did. Not that you can more than 3 times, but it buys me some time to read what's up, makes some preparations, and glad I did.
1. GPS removed it seems (or ability to turn it on)
2. some reboot issues & failed ICS installs due to rooted users (like me) removing bloatware (not me)
3. interesting claim ramp up in CPU speed (but it is being debated)
4. keep root with Root keeper BEFORE doing ICS
Again, we can only put it off 3 times and I used my first time to put off for a "day". But I like sitting back and watching everyone else tell what they see.. Anyone else putting it off?
I will wait. Is there not a file we can rename so as not to be forced?

So far, I am loving it. Everything is more smooth.
I was rooted and used Rootkeeper and still have root. Installed and booted just fine for me. GPS being removed sucks. Even though GPS sucked, at least let us have what we had
So far so good for me, crossing my fingers that it doesn't come crashing down tomorrow
I didn't wait I started the update hoped in the irc for my phone and jcase was like yo Haro don't forget to use voodoo to keep root and I was like ****!!!! so now I get to play the waiting game again for when this thing will be rooted.. I hate waiting. I've waited a lot for this thing lol

I got a stable tablet, going to ride it out a few days but will have to in the end. But waiting has already saved me some aggravation as I have been able to backup some files and settings and such. I am eager, but patient on this.
I see GPS under Settings > Personal > Location Services > GPS Satellites. Maybe I'm mistaken?
GPS is not removed mine works go to locations and turn it on
GPS is in settings? Still there. Also, had root, froze some bloatware apps, did the update, no problems at all. Root is gone, but I'm sure they'll get it back very soon.
Yeah, some are now reporting it is just removed from the quick settings menu which is uber lame IMHO. I like quick access to settings like that.. Seems like they are doing what they can to make it "disappear" without removing it. Out of sight, out of mind. Going to have to use a lame GPS widget instead.

#2 was a hugely touted function and improvement in ICS - enough so that at the ICS conference months back they took the time to show it off. Nice to see Asus did not upgrade their kernel to take advantage of a pretty great native ICS feature

The point of this thread was NOT to start an ICS *****ing thread, it was suppose to be about finding out if there were others that were patient enough to wait and see how it unfolds. It took a turn I could not control.
Anyway, you can postpone 3 times. 1 options is "1 day". I did that last night and expected 24hrs and yet this morning, I had to use my second postpone and selected 1 day again and then a mere 15 minutes I had to use it again.... so I have 1 left but I guess "1 day" i not 24 hours

I think its the dcrm client. can't exactly remember the name. you can freeze it and it'll stop the updates. search for more details though. can't remember all the details around it.

heh, i figured I would try deleting apps in system like myzine and stuff like I did before when .14 wouldn't update to .15, then I tried to install the update just now and it failed.
No more prompts to update
enjoying mc3 and other games on honeycomb along with my gps toggle in the notification menu
takes a little longer to boot and the ui isn't as pretty, but honeycomb is giving me alot of my apps back.

it felt like .15 was giving me battery issues, alot of people have said. 14 was a battery killer. There were also reports lf random reboots. It may not affect you if you update - but there are still quite a few apps that that are incompatible with ics so i chose to stay on 3.2 until those apps are made compatible.
if you do want to stay on honeycomb you need to root, delete a few apps in the /system/app folder like myzine, pressreader, anything you don't want (I used titanium backup). Then attempt to install the update and it will fail. Wait a few minutes for it to reboot telling you the update failed, then no more OtA notifications.
If you decide to update - manually update the firmware by downloading the update from asus's website- extracting the contents of the zip onto the root directory of your microsd card - then it should prompt you to update.

Thing is we have all those gameloft games working on ICS. I'm on latest ICS update and I have MC3 version working perfectly on it. Plus its better working than version that worked on HC. I wouldn't hold back an update to a better overall experience just for a game. Especially when we have all those games working on ICS though. Its all about choices though. If you like HC then that's cool. But I'm sure you already know you that now you won't receive anymore OTA updates and manually have to install each one now.
About to play MC3 now on ICS it plays n looks great.

the modded one plays terrible for me, the sensitivity is screwed, it doesn't reward correctly, it doesn't log my matches correctly, and gamecih doesn't work well on ics. my honeycomb version has none of those issues. all Glu games are working again for me, as well as all other apps that were working on ics.
once i manually install an update ota updates will return.
ics is nice, but I can live with honeycomb. I do miss the ui and settings menu of ics, I can make honeycomb prettier - but I'm kind of afraid to without an unlocked bootloader. If I do decide to return toics it's as simple as restoring my nandroid backup.

everything is fine for the most part. the only thing is booting takes longer and theres a bit of a hiccup on recent apps, nothing substantially worse.
there were some ics features that made the experience a little more convenient, but I can live without them.
To me the big difference is in the browser. So much better. As far as apps they are slightly smoother but not really by much. I still see some stutter in home screen and app drawer and some apps I use are still not compatible like hidebar or even honeybar to hide status bar. Netflix works smoother if you force gpu but brakes my game Meltown from Mars. I just get a black screen. So I have to disable force gpu and just deal with the netflix stutter. Also from time to time I get a app not responding error and can either close the app or wait. If I hit wait it eventually runs.
So IMO if youre happy with HC I'd stick with it. I'm only sticking with ICS cause of the browsing acceleration is much better and the issues I encounter I can overlook. And I dont want to start over again and reinstall everything and copy downloaded data back since downgrading to HC requires you hard reset and will delete everything in the internal sd. I've gone back and forth so many times and its not fun at all.
As far as mc3 IMO the HC version is better. Panning is really slow on ICS but I can get by. What really sucks is if someones behind me theres no way I can turn around in time to shoot back. I can with HC.

Oh and if you dont want the pesky notification to bother you again heres what you do.
Let it download the update but dont install it.
Root your device and use ES explorer or root explorer and go to /cache and delete the dlpkgfile that was downloaded
Then hit that down arrow in the status bar and do an install
It will try to verify the dlpkgfile file before it installs but will fail because you deleted the file
It will tell you it will revert to previous rom but wont really do anything but close the notice
Thats it. You shouldnt get notified anymore.
You can still update later if you want by going to setting> about tablet> and check for new version.

I didnt try boat on HC. You mind posting a video (of www.androidcentral.com or www.phandroid.com). I tried Dolphin but i still got the checkered thing when you scroll fast and there are images. Opera was stuttery and the only one that was smooth was opera mobile but it was limited. I found the stock to work the best specially with some flash sites.

How do I update to latest image?
I'm still on DE2117_11_c.15.
I'm rooted.
I have not tried this, just throwing it out there. There is a app called Oxygen Updater on the play store. Might be worth checking out.
UPDATE: so it looks like this app supports both full and incremental updates on the n200. If you are rooted, however, the incremental updates wont work. As far as supporting one of these frankenstein n200's, uncharted waters my friend.
Yes, I can't do the incremental update. What a pain in the asss...
I removed root and updated. Will reroot later.

I always post the latest DE2117 masgisk patched boot.img file in this thread. To take partial updates, you do have to be unrooted/clean os to get to C_18 now.
I decided to install lineage. Want to see how it does on this phone.
Lineage actually runs worlds away better than the vanilla 12 rom. It does have a couple of issues currently that I couldnt find a work around for, so went back to stock. Many thanks to scanman0 for the stock\patched boot images; hes saving many people countless hours dealing with getting these images how he is.

What kinds of issues are u having with lineage?
Ok well this is going to probably sound petty, and would not have an effect on most users I believe, but yeah I can't get a couple of games to load. Heres the thing: the games are Netflix android games... And something tells me its a DRM\Webkit\etc issue and not really Lineages fault. I DID have magisk installed, however that never had any effect on Netflix for me; It just always worked without issue.
There were a couple of other little annoyances, but no show stopper errors or crashes and it ran buttery smooth without any of the hiccups it seems like stock roms had\have.

Only issue I had was (mostly) with a game. While playing Pokemon GO the display would just go all black for a couple seconds as if it were disconnected, then come back. It would happen randomly and several times in a row in quick succession. Never figured out what was causing it so went back to stock.

do you use magisk?
if yes, go to magisk app, then press uninstall, then press restore images.
if you get the message "stock image backup not found", then you can't do it this way.
do not reboot.
go to oxygen updater then download the incremental
after that, go to the oneplus software update app which lets you do local upgrade and then press install on the .zip file
do not reboot yet, go to magisk and press install, then install to inactive slot
after that, press the reboot button in magisk.
