Hi all,
I love my GT and the keyboard dock it came with (plus all the shortcuts). I use them nearly everyday together for taking notes in class, but I HATE that holding the backspace key will end up deleting everything I typed. I wish it would just continously delete until I let go, like the stock keyboard. Is there any way to remove this "feature" or make Swype or the stock keyboard the default for the dock?
Changing it everytime I dock my tablet is annoying and every now and again when the screen turns off it just turns back to the samsung keypad.
TIA

Ever tried SwiftKey X Tablet? It seems to do everything you mentioned so far, some say it has dock support but I wouldn't be too sure. You might wanna test it, the app is free ofcourse. If you feel you like it, buy it

Logged into Amazon App Store and they have it free for today as a promotion. This is one of the best predictive keyboards around. Just thought I'd put it out there.

Cool, thanks. It's better than the stock keyboard, but Swype it's more my cup of tea. It's cool to have another alternative for the keyboard!

Cant get Amazon App Store in Canada
Just wondering if some one could post the .apk for the swiftkey as in canada i do not have access to the amazon app store
I cant seem to get it to show me suggestions...
[Edit] I got it. It had to download some language pack. I like typing in landscape now

Problem with it compared to better keyboard is that it has much less preferences. The ability to change the key size on Better Keyboard, and basically customize it exactly how you like it makes it great.

Amen, epically the new beta swype. And you have arrow keys for it if you swype the squiggly thing with the pointer finger on it to SYM. It makes it to where you can play a flash game that involves using the arrow keys (almost every flash game).
No other keyboard does that!
So I'm pretty much pissed off at the stock HTC keyboard, and Swype doesn't work for me, so I'm wondering what keyboard is worth installing to replace.
I've tried Swiftkey and Smart Keyboard, but they both have problems with double letters when typing fast.
What keyboards are you all using with your 3VO?
Im using Smart keyboard pro and I have problems with it not responding sometimes. I need a better keyboard also. I can't stand the htc one.
if you don't dig swype (and it is an acquired taste I'll admit) I would then recommend swift....
...don't dig swift? Well, almost every other keyboard out there (that isn't trying be either be "swype2" or super unique) will be the same (at best) or worst.
Do swift...have it learn from your txts....srsly, how does that not work for you?
got the old ginge keyboard, seems to be ok.. space bar is a little small..
I was leaning towards the GB stock keyboard, just need to find a modified apk for one with the smilie key. I miss that from my rooted EVO.
I'll probably give into Swift, just was curious what everyone else uses.
Check out hackers keyboard. Its pretty cool.

I downloaded the Swift Beta from the marketplace, seems pretty good, no issues so far with double letters.
I really dig thumb keyboard 4.
The ability to split the keyboard while in landscape so Tue keys are closer to the sides has actually made me want to type in landscape.

I really really miss the GB keyboard. I tried the apk I had from the Evo as well as the one from the market, both not sized for our screens(too small). I'm surprised no update either
Hackers has an ass load of options. I like you can change the overall size it takes up on the screen.
Though I have the full version of SwiftKey, I find the SwiftKey x beta works best for me.

I'm loving flex t9. it's way better than swype imo. plus I got it free from Amazon app a day. I would have bought otherwise. you can trace, write, or voice command it.

the more it learns the better it works.....make sure to let it learn periodically....or make it....also only pick the language modules you need...trust me....I thought I'd shot for flexibility....pfft....more like shooting for randomization--the same applies for swype, lol.

just got swiftkey x beta, gonna give it a try. anything will be better than the crappy stock keyboard.
Hey all,
I almost never like stock keyboards.
When I had my HTC, my keyboard of choice was SwiftKeyX. Unfortunately, it won't work on the note, you have to get SwiftKeyX Tablet (which is what I am using now).
My issue is, I find is pretty stupid to design a keyboard without popular punctuation's on the main keyboard and require you to swap screen to hit a Comma, Exclamation or Question Mark among others.
The issue is, the SwifKeyX Tablet keyboard lags, sometimes VERY badly.
Has anyone else run other keyboard with success?
Thanks!
I use Icecream Sandwich Keyboard off the market. Works great.

I thought about it. I have it on my tablet. I'll guess I can give it a go as well!

Ok, installed and thankfully, I can set up different layouts for Portrait and Landscape.
For now, this is the winner! Thanks for kicking this back into my brain!

I have not experienced lags with SwiftkeyX. I guess I might be lucky. I also like iTap as another 3rd party keyboard.
Not sure what version of Swiftkey X i bought as it was only. 49 in the market but i do remember it saying something about using a different tablet version. I paid no attention and the non tablet version is working wonderful here. Non root, all stock.

I'm constantly being 'auto corrected' by this damned keyboard. Many of my texts invlove abbreviations and acronyms and they always get guessed to the nearest real word. I have to go back and re-type them back in. I don't want to have to add 60 words to my dictionary. Is there a way I can turn off auto-correct, or a different keyboard app you recommend?
Cool story bro
Download another keyboard like SwiftKey or Swype.

Man i feel your pain , couldn't believe the trouble i was having with the HTC ONES Keyboard also , i really wanted to kee a complete stock look , but i just couldn't take it anymore , so i just downloaded swype from the playstore i've acyually been using it for quite awhile now , on my s3 , and man what a difference , i would highly reccomend it SWYPE , it used to be free now its 1 dollar .................
I have always liked SwiftKey keyboard. Now it has flow built in so you can swype or text. This keyboard allows you to type with a lot of mistakes and it does a really good job fixing it. The swype keyboard in the play store works really well for swyping but typing normal on it doesn't work near as good. Depends on how you like to text more. I switch between both of them all the time.

I can't understand complaining about the keyboard on an Android phone when there are tons out there to change to.
The stock keyboard had Swype too....
I actually really liked this keyboard compared to my stock s3's.
I love this keyboard.. I have used all the other major ones and always come back to AOSP. But then I got the One and I love it. No issues and it's integrated with Google's voice keypad and is slick. No complaints here at all

yah, this key sucks so bad. auto correction is terrible. slow response, will even "backfire" when you send the text cause you to stop for a bit and retype. weak!!!

I prefer swype like interface.
I have used both swiftkey (before swype-like interface) and afterwards, swype, thumb keyboard, and Slideit.
I prefer using swiftkey slightly.
Swype is probably the best in regards to sliding.
Slideit is nice but has a slight lag that messes me up.
Swiftkey has some predictive stuff which can both help or hinder.
I think you can't go wrong with any of the above 3.
For tablets, I just use thumb keyboard.
for me either stock 4.2 keyboard or samsung galaxy s4's keyboard love them both
I like the stock keyboard and Google keyboard from the market. The stock keyboard is tough to type with after having a number of drinks

Haha. I use SwiftKey, in Pitch color scheme. Jelly Bean keyboard https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jlsoft.inputmethod.latin.jelly.free is great too. Just like the stock Google keyboard but with more secondary functions on the keys.
As someone who purchased both swype and swiftkey, I personally use the Samsung keyboard, though I must add that I took the apk from the international version and changed some things to make it work how I wanted it to. Currently I m testing the Google keyboard from the 4.3 leak and its pretty good, haven't used it very long though.

Wish Swype would for allow for customer autotexts (abbreviations). I use about 100 of these daily.
I used to use swiftkey before I came to the s4 but now I dont seem to think it looks good on the phone it just looks plan so as of now im using stock even though I serverly hate the keyboard because I keep making mistakes on it.
Have you guys tried touchpal?

I've used SwiftKey for nearly a year now. I did try the 4.2 stock keyboard for a week or two but found my way back to SwiftKey. The predictive capabilities are phenomenal and can really save you time.
I like the stock Samsung key board. The numbers on top are great. My only concern is the dictionary. I have added words to the Samsung dictionary, but they still dont show up when texting. Has anyone had success with adding words to the dictionary?
