[Q] 2 diferent SGS2 = 2 diferent camera images - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all! Me and my work partner have both SGS2. In a test that we made taking a picture at the same thing, the result is this. Can anyone tell me why?
Thanks!!

Are all your setting the same? It does seem like the settings were different and so the pictures are also very different. The white balance looks different in your case.

From what I see, a factor could be the while balance of the camera that was used to take both photos. The background are the same but the colors are rendered differently.

The camera app itself looks different...it could be different firmwares...

The "green one" is running ChecRom RevoHD v6.0 with XKL1 and Siyah Kernel 2.6.7+.....The "normal one" is running Illusion XT v1.6.0 with XLP1 and same Kernel.
Settings in camera app are the same...

You can only test hardware by using stock firmware .

Camera problem (out of focus)

Noticed some strange behaviour on my S5830 :
- If I shoot a photo using Macro setting photo is nice and sharp
- If I shoot a photo using the Autofocus setting the photo is blurry (although in the display preview I see it's sharp) ???
Anyone having similar experience ?

Hey!
Do you have STOCK firmware? If yes, try to flash STOCK 2.3.3.
Flash Tutorial HERE.
CHEERS!
I have updated from stock German T-mobile 2.2.1 to (russian?) 2.3.3.
As I am not @ home right now can't tell what version exactly.
Is this a known problem at certain firmware versions?

Hey!
No, its not know firmware problem, but it exist sometimes. If this not solve you problem, try to flash like ..XXKC1(from samfirmware[its multi file, not single file]).
CHEERS!
I am a tweaker and have did quit some changes already and am happy with the status of the rest of the phone so I am not very eager to do another fw flash...
I did however already purchase Titanium backup....
Guess I'm gonna just have to try to flash (maybe best VillainROM 1.0) and restore from Titanium....... and hope to be back up and running soon
Will keep you guys informed ... thx in advance
Yesterday I have flashed VillainROM and photo's seem to be better now. Have to do some testing but it looks promising
VillainROM is cool btw ....
My ace
My galaxyace this with a similar problem in Cemera, my camera does not focus, nor even in the macro and auto focus (does not show any difference between the two) and smileshot also does not work, I tried to change the rom, I am now with 2.3.4 (base s830xxkph).
the problem first started when I put Cyanogen mod 7 and returned to 2.3.4 (I tried 2.3.3 (with multiple files), but the problem persists).
anyone have any ideas? sorry for english I'm Brazilian
If you select 3.2 mega pixels in camera settings photos will be sharper.

camera picture not clear

hello friends
i am having this strange problem with my samsung s2.when ever i click pic i got dull picture and when i zoom them its not as clear as my friends s2.i have default camera setting.pls help me solve this problem
First check if u use the same resolution!
Then think about installed mods and Rom.
After this also check camera and clear it.
If all is checked, send it to Samsung, maybe a hardware pro.

It'll be out of a few options: a scratched/dirty camera lense, your capture settings are set to a lower resolution/quality (max is "Super Fine" and 8MP), or a hardware defect.
Check if you both have the same setting, maybe download picturec to PC and compare there on bigger screen + compare EXIF info

[Q] [JB]Camera take pictures with white layer

Hi all,
I've adopted JB for few months now, i'm very happy about all the roms I've tested so far except for one point: the camera.
All of my pictures have a "whitish" effect. While on ICS (i've tested a lot of roms), i never experienced this.
Do you know how to correct this, camera settings? camera tweaks? etc.

thanks in advance for your answers.
Can you tell me setting from camera i mean
Iso
Automatic contrast

As in ICS, i didn't modify any settings, except for the flash on/off i almost never change anything. I mostly use my phone to take "instant pictures", you know the moments where you don't have half an hour to modify settings.
My settings are:
-Flash : off (most of the time turning it on gives me plain white picures)
-ISO: Auto
-exposition: 0
-A/W
-HDR: OFF
I just compare the result with my friends pictures (same moment, same angle) and with SGS, Nexus or Iphone 4 their pictures are way better looking.
thank you for your answer

[Q] i9100 Camera cropped image (zoom view) after upgrade to Cyanogenmod

Since upgrade to the Cyanogenmod, the camera on my i9100 is making zoomed pictures.
Digital zoom is set to 1.0, so theoretically there is NO zoom set, however when compared with another i9100 pictures are cropped.
To have the same view area I had to zoom to 2x on stock rom!
Picture quality is also very poor especially in macro mode (it's having problems focusing).
Currently I have the 11 revision (4.4.4) of the Cyanogenmod (nighty from 07/07/2014). Previous CM was behaving the same way.
All photos are saved as 3264 x 2448 resolution.
I like this software and don;t want to go back to stock rom but I also need a good camera, so your help would be highly appreciated.
Edit: I have downgraded to stock ROM and problem is now gone, so it must be something with CM.
I have since tried 3 different KitKat ROMs (C-Rom, Neat and Slim) and all suffer from the same problem - poor quality of BOTH cameras (front and rear) compared to stock Samsung ROM.
All rear cameras capture cropped photos compared to old stock ROM.
I don't think it's a fault of my mobile, since after downgrading to stock ROM everyhitng is back to normal, so it must be KitKat. I am just surprised that no one else noticed this problem
Did you disable True View in the camera app?

I could not find this feature in CM11, but found it in other KitKat system. After disabling camera crops a bit, I can live with that, however quality of photos is still bad compared with stock ROM. I will try to upload some photos today to show the difference.
After upgrading to SlimSaber, camera is taking good quality photos again, so problem solved.

How to have better camera on Oreo ROMs

TIP OF THE DAY
INTRO
If you don't like the camera's quality it is because the google camera app is not the best for the grand prime, actually this is the problem of all ROMs based on the pure android, isn't the image clear enough? does the image looks blurred?
I've been comparing my camera on android oreo with my another phone (both are the same model), one has the stock Android and the other one has the pure Android 8 and the differences are huge, how to work around this problem?
Well... I have researched and talked to devs about this and it turns out that the drivers of the camera are the same as the stock firmware, but the only thing what changes the quality is how the image is processed by the camera application.
So who's the one to blame? The camera app.
What is the solution?
The real solution is to use ROMs based on the stock ROM, i.e. touchwiz, but I have noticed that many people still prefer using the pure Android so this solution is not possible. There is still another way.
CyanogenMod camera and fine adjustments
That's what you read, with the 'old' Cyanogen camera app you can have better pictures.
First, install this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maartendekkers.cyanapps
It's called Cyan Apps if the link isn't working.
and then...
Choose 'camera' on CM's 13 sectionNote: Don't choose the CM 14.1 version because it crashes when you start recording a video or change to frontal camera.
Download and install it.
Adjustments
Open the camera and go to settings, drag down until the last options and turn off the Denoise option, then go to the sharpness and set to the level 0 (or do whatever you think is better) and go to the picture quality and set to it 100%. The rest of the options you can leave in the default level.
Optional
You can, alternatively, with root access make this a system application and delete the other one just to have only one default camera for your ROM.
In the images attached below I want you to pay attention in the sharpness of the image and the quality, I hope you don't mind if I'm a bad photographer.
UPDATE: I know the link is broken and the reason is because the Cyan Apps has been removed from playstore, I don't know why, but you know now the secret to make the image good-looking, you have to turn off denoise option which comes by default turned on in all Samsung cameras. Find an APP that can make this for you. Best Regards
Holt sh*t dude.. it fixed my camera quality. Now the photo quality can be compared to stock cam.
Although now the photos are a little noisy and kinda looks little bad on low light..but it's really good on places with light.

Low light is always an enemy for the camera
This WILL also work on Snap-based (that's the camera included on most AOSP ROMs) cameras.
