I seem to have developed a habit of asking here alot (the evo 3d isnt really my phone i have a Sensation, just doing a favor)
I've re-locked the phone, installed 2.17 (from 2.08) and im wondering if there are other methods of unlocking with Hboot 1.5 S-On (says RELOCKED on recovery) other than having to do the whole HTC Unlock method again?
I wanted to try MeanROM so i pretty much re-locked, upgraded to 2.17 and now i have to reroot just for this ROM (and also got a new radio...)
If not, do i just have to follow the HTC unlock method all over again from Scratch? The process is identical even if i have relocked it?

Hello is it possible to downgrade to hboot 0.43 or 0.93 (any under 1.0) with the unlocked bootloader from the HTC dev site?
I tried to flash the attached HBoot 0.43 file with:
Code:
fastboot flash hboot hboot_7227_0.43.0003_100430.nb0
But it says signature error. Is there a way to sign those images or does it just means that it doesnt allow downgrading? I have S-OFF (Unlocked HTC Bootloader, wich is 1.02)
The reason why I want this is if I have HBoot 0.93 or 0.43 I can flash the Alpharev bootloader. Wich is COMPLETELY unlocked so it allows me to reflash the original stock HBoot for warranty purposes.

(Edit: Forgot to upload the hboot 0.43 DL link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33521967/hboot_7227_0.43.0003_100430.nb0)
Ability to downgrade hboot 1.02 would negate the warranty problem. Wouldn't you agree on that? So if this is possible, I don't really see a point in why would HTC need ones approval of voiding warranty after unlocking.
The only sane and logical answer to your question would therefor be NO.

Well, Vodafone Support told me that HTC will not repair the device for free with a custom ROM. I had to flash the stock Vodafone branded ROM to make it free for me. They told me HTC will blame the custom ROM then (I have Newsense RC4B). The problem was that the USB port on my device was broken. It said connected to PC when it was on the AC adapter.
BUMP, and another reason for downgrade to 0.43: Total Unlock. HTC Dev unlocked bootloader only allows writing to /system but nothing else! it even checks signatures! True unlocking = Alpharev
I don't think this will ever be possible. Alpharev would have to unlock the whole bootloader to make this possible, and they already repeatedly said this would probably never happen. The legends hboot is a glitchy mess of code. I don't see why anyone would really want a fully unlocked hboot. What are the real advantages?..
@QUBiCA: Pretend for a sec or two that you are HTC. You have bootloader that can't be downgraded. Then you release its successor which can be partially unlocked. In a process of unlocking you demand from end user to agree on warranty voiding. So why would you allow one to overwrite (downgrade) this very bootloader and regain his/her device its warranty, since after overwriting it one can never tell it was unlocked once?
If they wanted to give you a bootloader that can be downgraded, they would give you a full unlocked S-OFF one in the first place and they wouldn't be bothering you with warranty voiding, since after all downgrading would gain it back.

I have got Legend and Gratia. I have downgraded Gratia htcdev 1.03 hboot patching misc partition + relock + goldcard + Froyo RUU
(detailed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23381950&postcount=21)
and then, I applied revolution S-OFF succesfully. However, using this method applied to Legend, it installs Eclair RUU 1.31 sucessfully, but without hboot downgrading, keeping in htcdev 1.02 hboot. Why with Gratia is possible, being a more modern phone? Is it because Froyo downgrades hboot and Eclair does not?
HBOOT 1.02 downgrade succeded!
@BlaYo, I agree in your conclusion on your retorical question.
But nevertheless i succeded in doing just that.
The short version:
make Goldcard (GoldCardTool-0.0.5, klutsh.com)
unpack hack4legend-v5 in your C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
temproot (visonary+R14, MoDaCo)
ADB Shell
su
/data/local/flash_image misc /data/local/misc1-2.img
now to RUU
RUU_Legend_HTC_WWE_1.31.405.5_R_Radio_47.26.35.04_7.05.35.26L_release_126592_signed
You will still be on HBOOT 1.02
RUU_Legend_Froyo_S_HTC_WWE_3.15.405.6_Radio_47.51.35.17_7.13.35.05_release_222317_signed
Now you are on HBOOT 1.01.0000
So now there are no traces of Rooting at all. ie back to stock.
HI all! I want to know if downgrading HBOOT 1.53.007 is possible.
Before I did the OTA update I was able to downgrade my 1.49.0018 HBOOT to 1.49.007 using this method and to easily get S-OFF and unlock bootloader(http://mess-hall.co.uk/2012/04/rooting-htc-evo-3d-hboot-1-49-0018/).Also it was very easy for me to obtain S-ON and LOCKED using this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710033).
Now my question/s.If I do the same thing to this 1.53.007 HBOOT(put the PG86IMG.zip in the root of the sdcard and open phone in fastboot and let it flash):
1.will it downgrade my device to 1.49.007?
2.will it brick my device?
Can you suggest something else?I mean I want to obtain S-OFF and an unlocked bootloader BUT NOT WITH htcdev.com method.
THANKS!!!
1. No
2. No
I don't think there is a way without htcdev. I had to do it last night and searched all over for an alternative. I tried what you are suggesting as well, but it runs through the flash process in bootloader then nothing.
I bit the bullet in the end and went htc dev followed by the wire trick on io. Got hboot unlocked then soff then flashed an old stock to get hboot 1.47. Just in case I accidentally s-on at some point!

Hi,
i unlocked my Evo 3d the HTCdev.com way, al working fine and in tried to flash a new rom through CWM recovery (LeeDrOiD_3D_V5.3.0)
Now my unit is staying in a bootloop, the white HTC screens pops up for a few seconds and boots throught to the LeeDrOid bootscreen, you hear the sound for a second and it reboots again.
I Already tried to flash the boot.img extracted from the LeeDrOid manually, but it stays the same.
Did i overlooked something? Did i brick my unit? I dont know...
The following numbers pop up when i boot in the bootloader:
***Unlocked****
SHOOTER-U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.53.0007
eMMC-boot
Radio: 11.25.3504.06
What to do? Or do i have a fancy paperweight now?
I think its because you are trying to flash a gingerbread rom. AFAIK its not possible to boot GB on 1.53 hboot. I would suggest trying an ICS rom
So i installed Yoda's ICS v5.1 and now the unit only boots till the white HTC screen and reboots on and on...
maybe if you list the things you tried i could help you more.
factory reset and wipe cache+delvik cache before installing rom?
manually flashed boot.img?
i would suggest getting s-off to save yourself all the hassle
How do i install S-OFF when i cannot fully boot the unit?
Yes, i tried to install Boot.img manually through ABD, but issue still persists.
S-off isnt something to install. I'd recommend you run an RUU and get beck to stock. After that look in the gsm development section you will find a thread for s-offing your phone. It involves the wire trick.

Which RUU should i download, which one do you recommend? And i can do this while connected with Fastboot, isnt it?

I had the very same issue, see my post here for some help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897719
I think your hboot is the key; if your unlocked through HTC while on a GB rom then you are limited to GB roms, if you want ICS, you need to re lock, ruu the stock ICS rom, then unlock, then install the custom ICS rom.
I'm no expert but that seemed to fix my issue, i did take the extra step and get S-off, so i truly get full control of my phone.
His hboot is 1.53 which means he did update to ics. Relocking his bootloader and running an RUU should get him to boot into stock rom. Then maybe he can s-off.
There are so many people with 1.53 hboot having problems with every single rom. I didnt take the ota for this exact reason. Revolutionary hboot hasnt given me trouble with any rom.

I just checked the unlimited.io (JBear) website and their modified bootloader for the Evo 3D GSM on ICS is 1.53.5353 so it seems like they support the wire trick with the ICS update, but I agree that it would be better to start by flashing the ICS RUU.exe then HTC unlock and root before doing JuopunutBear.

Hello
I previously had rooted my phone to gain access to some files, but now I'm looking to sell the handset. I want to sell it with the latest OTA update and unlocked.
When I was using this phone on a day to day basis, I had it unlocked and tried to have updates OTA but I found it didn't work. Fast forward today, I want to S-off my handset to unlock it to any network carriers but every method involves rooting. Is there a way around this and keep everything else the same? Can I S-off this as my HBoot says
******RELOCKED******
HBOOT 1.53.0007
Thanks
S-off is root I would think, but if you are talking about the HTC Dev unlock, then you wouldn't need to be s-off.
However I do recommend s-off if you are unlocked, it just makes everything run smoother.
I would say to root the phone to s-off and unlock it.Then downgrade your Hboot to 1.4 and flash one of the new 4.1.2 Jellybean roms, because in my opinion I don't think there will be anymore OTA's for the EVO 3D, other than radios probably. I just can't see Sprint pushing anything out past Jellybean for how old the phone is now, and how fast newer phones with a lot better hardware come out and just take over. but that's just my opinion
MY PHONE

In an effort to upgrade bootloader and software to be compatible with cm11.. I used vipeRUU to go from 1.12 bootloader to 2.09 bootloader with the 3.17.651.471 software, whats confusing me is bootloader still says ..Unlocked ..and S-off after running ruu ..bootloader has changed and so has the software... (i was Previously s-off via Lazy panda).. i was under the impression that this would un root and lock bootloader again.. i know that i now have lost root i know how to check that .. question is , is bootloader locked now as well?..tried rumrunner and moonshine to no avail, to get S-OFF .. and it needs to be unlocked for those exploits to work.. any ideas?
It will lock your bootloader and return the phone S-on if you chose those options in the menu when you first ran VipeRUU. If you're still S-off, then all you need to do is unlock the bootloader again unless it's showing unlocked. An easier route than what you chose would have been to update your Hboot to the Rumrunner Hboot, which takes less than a minute to do. You'll still need to update your firmware, since VipeRUU is a version behind what's currently out there. If you're S-on now, you'll need to unlock the bootloader and run Moonshine.

Yep, you should be good to go now. Just make sure that you have Superuser privileges and all should be right with the world:thumbup:
