I couldnt find relevant answers bt searching so i am creating a new thread.
I just now installed open optimus rom for 2.3.3(build 2.202.1)
2.6.35.14-franco kernel
i followed this thread
now i am facing some problems
when usb debugging is on, and i plug in usb, it tickers usb debugging connected and then phone freezes, and reboots and keeps on rebooting itself. windows keeps on finding and losing the phone. so i cannot connect in debugging mode. However when i disable debugging and enable mass storage only i can access the mass storage mode
also phone freezes up when i run certain apps(like proxydroid)
and refreshes(ie does not reboots but does some kind of reset of launcher etc which is fast)
secondly
the theme is very dark, i want a more light theme.
edit: i liked the gingerbread theme, this one is bluish, i want black like gingerbread. plz tell how to do i change to gingerbread theme
this is first time i am installling custom rom, (i had upgraded my phone to 2.3.3 manually some days back though)
What should i do to get debugging mode
plz some1 reply to this thread
yes even me faced some problems with open optimus (gingerbread), it has some bugs.
I suggest change your rom ?
ya, i did that, went back to my backuped 2.3.3 stock rom.
i guess i have to say, all custom roms have some bugs, so u cant use them if u want just stable and reliable use of ur phone.
if anyone can suggest a custom rom with no freezes, crashes, and most functionality working, ill be very happy to switch
and i would like to say that i upgraded to 2.3.3 from froyo using info from mak.3736 signature. so thanks to u

This isnt true.I think the most stable custom roms arexygen rom, aosp rom, mik's cm7(both stable & testing) and Andy's rom(but it has video bug,but i cn live without it).And almost all froyo roms are stable.
can u plz tell which rom, kernel u using, is it bug free? and i want gingerbread roms only.. coz stock gingerbread looks way more cool than stock froyo and since i have baseband v20 i dont want to change it.
thanks..
I m using the openoptimus rom I suggest u reflash ur rom and cleaar the dalvik cache from recovery to solve the problems u are facing. The only bug in this rom m facing is tethering errors

ok ill trying it again, this time i wiped dalvik cache too.
EDIT: it is working properly now. i guess the problem resolves after wiping dalvik cache and reflashing rom
and how to theme this rom? i want it to closely resemble gingerbread rom in terms of colors
i am still facing crashes or freezeups afterwhich phone kinda reboots. i guess ill stick to stock rom.
if you want to switch to gingerbread cutom roms
first downgrade baseband to v10 follow : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217504
then you can flash mik's rom or andy's rom or aosp or oxygen , all are good, but as you are new you might like mik's rom 6.5.8 , as according to my view its more stable and most of the functionality working.
ok ill try mik rom sometime(its the one by mik_os cm7 rit 6.5.8-beta1)?
also tell me how can i add powermenu, remove some stock crapware apps and other goodies to a stock rom 2.3.3 , kinda what cyber_avjit did. his rom cannot be downloaded, none of download link is working
i know there is a 'kitchen' but i am a not a pro cook.
so i need some cooking tips too.
thanks for ur patience to bear with me
for building power menu there is a thread in xda (search it)
for removing stock apps from rom you can use titanium back up, but remember there are some apps that should not be removed (if removed causes force close or boot loops), there is a thread in xda (search) which tells which app from stock rom can be removed safely.
If u want stock then I suggest aga rom I used and I really like this rom

Confusion about Baseband!!
Hi, I am planning to install OpenOptimus ROM on my P500, but have some confusion..................I don't know whether my Baseband is Older Or Newer..........
I am currently running Stock ginger bread 2.3.3 ROM......Does it have new baseband which is supported in OpenOptimus?????
you have new baseband.open optimus is also for new baseband
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
I'm currently running stock 2.3.3 from SE (through Rogers in Canada) with baseband 2.1.71 (rooted since it was released)
I planned on installing CM7 on my phone so I decided to unlock my bootloader so that it is ready when I eventually do so. I used FlashTool 0.6.7.0 to unlock it and it ran without any problems.
However I'm unable to turn Wi-Fi on. It only says "Error" and I'm not too sure what's wrong. I tried searching for answers but others with same issues were using custom ROMs while I'm still on stock.
Anyone know what I can do to fix this? If you're missing any information to be able to help me, please let me know and I will post them. (I have about a week to fix this as I'll be leaving on vacation and I'll need wifi working)
Thanks!
If you have really opened bootloader, for such device special kernels are necessary (stock or custom). Flash by FlashTool one of such ftf-kernels, then install with utility xRecovery the module wi-fi for this kernel.
The author of each ROM recommends, what kernels to use and gives the link on downloading.
just look for the kernel tht is meant for unlocked bootloader tht should work with stock rom n then flash kernel via flashtool n wifi modules file through xrecovery ur wifi will work
Which kernel u using? U prob need the relevant WiFi modules.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot tonight. I noticed it mentioned to install a custom kernel but seeing how everything else was fine I skipped that step. (ooops )
I had that "error" on my stock with zKernel.I dont know cause, but i fix it with reinstall zKernel..Try with zKernel for stock..

Well, installed FXP105 and everything seems to be buttery smooth. Wifi is working now (yay!), but now camera is not working. Also tried with Vignette and no go.
Gonna search around a bit.
Thats ICS man, camera dont working and some other stuff eather. Its stable but its not for everyday use.

It's not ICS... I installed CM7.2. Found out FXP105 was missing a lib file for camera so I'll fix it later.
Thanks for all your help guys
FXP105 is 9.0 (ICS),thats FXP54 i think.

Hi. I haven't tested it with CM7 but MIUI had the same problem, so try to flash wifi fix and then UnlockedBL.zip . And also try other kernels

As the title suggests, I recently tried all ICS kernels that I know and none of them booted to even the recovery screen before I got a WLOD. I really want to be on ICS so can someone please help?
I have tried all available ICS in this forum, but none of them seem to work properly or im flashing something wrong... So stick to GB for now and when you get a very stable kernel and ROM... flash that... as fas as i know Championswimmers AKOP port is almost done expect some data issues (thats what i red when i saw it last)... But if you decide to flash ICS, just amke sure you are using proper "Kernel"....
Happened the same to me with kcernel. What I did was flash a stock room with flashtool and then flash fxp-127 kernel, and that worked for me to instal remyICS.

Hi!
I'm in a hurry. My E10i's touch screen doesn't work, it's the only phone i have & i used it for work.
Now, I had it woth nAa ics 04 kernel and CM9 3.0.4 rom. This morning i used a little while, like always, but suddenly the touchscreen stoped working, the buttons are fine, it boot perfectly, but the touchscreen hates me xD.
I flashed it then the nAa jb 01 kernel and install CM10 4.0.0 (4.1.1 Android version) and it worked fine for a while, but then it happened the same, touchscreen stoped working. Ive tried flashing other kernels, other ROMs, i still haven't try stock ROM, but i want to know if there's any possible way to fix it only by software.
Don't worry about what ideas you give me, i'll try'em, i want my phone, now i can't hear music without it D:
Please, help!
Thanks.
Try to revert back to 2.1, and if you have so much free time, get the ROMs.

Hey guyz...
I just rooted my s5 2.3.3 407 olleh rom
Now I am wondering what all I can do with it...
Can any1 suggest me some nice tweaks or apps..
Also can any one tell me how can I overclock... Cuz setcpu has the highest limit to 998 ........ How can it be 1500 or something like that

Root is the most powerful aspect to being able to get the most from any device.
It unlocks access to the root of the filesystem, so you can change almost anything. Also root is essential to get more functionality from your device, a lot of software requires root access to work.
In your case, try a new kernel, i am sure you will be able to overclock using Pheonix kernel for example.
To be honest, why not install a custom rom?
Everything is done for you, and kept up to date with bug fixes.
If you like the rom you have, my recommendation is the DSC rom as it is an excellent rom.

M planning to flash dsc on my stock rom
With stock kernel
Will my fone b able to overclock then or I still have to flash different kernel.?
Sent from my Dell Streak using xda premium
If you want to be able to overclock and undervolt the processor, you need to install the Phoenix kernel as the stock Gingerbread kernel does not support either operation. You WANT to install the Phoenix kernel anyway as it has fixes above and beyond overclocking that aren't found in the 407 kernel. If you're coming from Froyo (Android 2.2.x), you cannot use a Froyo kernel with a Gingerbread (Android 2.3.x) ROM, unless of course you want to render the device unusable until corrected.
I had stock froyo
Then I updated my rom to official olleh one...without changing the kernel
Nd its working cool

When you change ROMs using official Dell packages, all the components are supposed to be updated to match the ROM. This is to minimize incompatibility. Therefore, when you upgraded to 407, the baseband, recovery, and the kernel should have been upgraded at the same time as the ROM itself.
In this case, you happen to be one of those for whom the kernel wasn't upgraded. And while the Froyo kernel on Gingerbread seems to work, the combination cannot be as stable or as functional as having a Gingerbread kernel with a Gingerbread ROM. The point however should be moot now as you've installed either DSC or Traveller DSC, both of which have the Phoenix kernel.
yeah now my streak has dsc
with pheonix kernel

I am still learning here, a newbie. Please apologize me for my lack of knowledge.
When I first started, I read quite a number of forum until I got quite confused, but has opted a choice. After numerous attempt, I managed to flash my DS5 with Longhorn 2.9.3 using CWM. What I found out was my Baseband(BB is what they call it, am I correct?) was still 347, which later I read somewhere here, I need to have BB407 instead. Was struggling to get 407 installed, but finally manage a solution.
But I still have not really understood what refers to a Kernal, and a Baseband. What they use for, etc...
Can someone please help to explain. Thanks.
My DS5 About phone look like this now. I am wondering if the part, second from below on the picture, is a problem = "MOD VERSION : UNKNOWN:
Can anyone comment on that? Thanks.
And also, I still can't overclock my DS5 using this ROM, max still at 998. I have tried SetCPU and Antutu CPU Master, and I read many forums to find out how, but none seems to work. Have I missed a step on installation or...? Can anyone help on this? Thanks.
BTW, I might decide to try DSCv2.3 (perhaps starts off with DSCv1.0, before upgrading) or Streak MIUI 2.4.20.
Any advice on those? Thanks.
XDA Developers - Kernel & Baseband Difference
The search engine is your friend. Learn how to use it please. In the meantime, I recommend either DSC or Traveller DSC. Read the instructions in the first posts of each thread and you should be good.
Thanks you for the encouragement, suggestions and instruction.
use dsc 2.3
it has rooted rom with phoenix kernel wilhich would allow you to overclock your device using any app
