I've tried 2.4 and that didn't boot so i used sbf and then tried 2.3 but that did the same thing! whats wrong?
Why don't you try 3.0?
here are the steps I take
1. stock sbf
2. install bootstrap
3. in bootstrap, mounts, format sd-internal
4. flash zip
5. reboot
Thanks
Thanks for the quick reply will try and respond
After the sbf finishes do a factory reset w/ data wipe (it's important). After it boots go through the steps for root, unlock, cwm ( if you need any of them).
I am rooted/unlocked and this is my process when flashing.
Boot into cwm
Wipe /data, /system, /cache, and /davlik-cache
Format /data, /system, /cache, and /davlik-cache
Install zip from sd
Wipe and format as above
Factory reset
Power off. At this time I charge to 100%.
Boot into cwm
Factory reset again
Reboot
After it boots up this time I go ahead and activate, sync, etc, etc. It's a long process and some steps may be redundant to some but I have never had issues flashing this way.
I also do the extra wipes for battery stats. I have never wiped battery stats after flashing as it's done during all the wipe/formatting I do. I charge to 100% before the final boot for this reason (my madness has method). Only one time I had an issue with crappy battery life. A bat stat wipe didn't help even after a few days and I attributed it to that particular ROM.

hey my droid eris i just got it and i instantly rooted it n then after about an hour i left it on and didnt use it it just turned off and the battery was half way full
Turn it back on?
Have you gone through ALL the rooting steps? Or did you just flash PB00IMG.zip and you're using whatever that has?
This is what I'd do:
If you have Amon's Recovery image installed, go download Ivan's 0.8T2 ROM, put it on your SD card, start up your phone while holding VOLUME UP + POWER, wipe Factory data, wipe Dalvik Cache, Flash from Zip, and flash Ivan's 0.8t2.
Then see how your phone works.
When i try to wipe data/factory reset in cwm it freezes at
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure...
what should i doooooo?
pull battery, reboot recovery.. wipe completed, it just hangs at last prompt.. a fix is likely incoming.
otherwise revert to CWM
I had this problem last night. I had to remove my card and put it in my computer and wipe the contents of android_secure before it would work

had this same problem last night, I just reflashed cwm through odin and the data wipe now works
That's unfortunately "normal" for the newer CWM recoveries right now... but even though it gets stuck the wipe does still complete. Once you see that, you can just manually restart your phone (you don't need to pull the battery, by the way, just hold down pwr+volume up+volume down) and flash whatever you were going to flash.
I was unlocked and rooted, but still on the stock rom.
I finally got around to installing the Alien rom and I was greeted with this message after install.
When I go to update it force closes. Its showing 3.0-beta2 as the latest version but force closes when it goes to check installed version.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you havent already done this....
Go into rom manager and run fix permissions. This can be done with Romracers CWM as well. Give that a shot and try it again.
Edit: Also did you do the full wipe routine before and after the alien rom install? Even though the ROM says its a full wipe, still do it manually before and after.
Hmm, I hadn't opened up ROM manager since this change.
It says "You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function. Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su"
As far as the wipe, I did the full wipe prior, but wasn't aware of needing to do it after. So I need to wipe Dalvik Cache and Cache Partition again?
EDIT: And of course, I can't get into Recovery Mode either. If I try to root my phone again, it says the file all ready exists?
Yes, something didnt take.
1 Wipe data/factory reset
2 Wipe cache
3 Wipe Dalvik
4 Install ROM
5 Wipe data/factory reset
6 Wipe Cache
7 Wipe Dalvik
8 Reboot
So if you reboot holding down on the volume and go into recovery it doesnt do anything?
what recovery did you use to install Alien initially? Romracers,

All right, I appreciate it. But maybe a stupid question, but since I can't get into recovery mode how do I go about doing this?
EDIT: Sorry, you got me on the edit. I wasn't thinking to go through recovery via the volume key. I was trying to go through the system recovery app. As far as which recovery I used Tenfar's Bootstrap, which reading looks like I probably shouldn't have. Thanks for your help, hopefully this will cure everything.
You are going to have to use fastboot and flash the recovery image again.
Go here--->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
Ya once we got our bootloaders unlocked Tenfars CWM became obsolete. Just pick your favorite color from the link i posted and flash with fastboot.
Thats why you got an error, tenfars wont properly flash a rom.
Just follow that wipe routine after every rom you flash. Before and after flash
Hi Guy,
I got a BIIIGGG problem.
After doing some VERY quick research i decided to get started by rooting and installing VillainROM, which worked lovely...no probs, however because there was a lack of themes (the main reason i rom'd the phone), I was swayed to go for Cynogen.
After downloading CM7.1 and installing through CWM my phone will not boot.
I have tried to do a factory reset through CWM, wipe the cache, and reinstall VillainROM but to no effect and stupidly i didnt backup my data.
Any advice on what i can do or have I bricked my phone?
What does the screen show? Can you get into download mode or recovery? Have you tried flashing the rom twice? This worked for me in the past.
Ricey
yep i can get into recovery and download mode, but when i boot the phone no joy
Ive tried installing the rom several times
Try formatting /data, /cache and /system from CWM recovery before flashing the new ROM.
If that doesn't help flash a stock ROM from Intratech's thread in the dev section via Odin.
1st- Boot into recovery.
2nd- wipe data/factory reset
3rd- wipe cache
4th- go to advanced/ wipe dalvik cache
5th- go to mounts and storage - format/system
6th- go to install ROM from SD card - select the ROM you'd like
7th- reboot system DO NOT TOUCH MAY TAKE A WHILE
8th- let it sit for 10 minutes once its booted so all the cache can build back up
9th- reboot, set up, and enjoy!!
Hope this helps!
Enzopreme you are a legend many thanks indeed
I recently rooted my phone using this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255548
I tried flashing MIUI and ICS after doing full wipes, but when rebooting the phone, it won't go mast the Motorola logo where it says "Unlocked." Is there a way to fix this?
wipe data/factory reset, cache, and dalvik in recovery

I always do that before I flash a rom. I've done it at least 5-6 times now as I try to reflash the roms.
Sorry, early morning brain fart!
What do you consider a full wipe?
How long are you leaving your phone rebooting after flashing the ROM on the initial first reboot?
You could try flashing a kernel after flashing the ROM. You shouldn't have to, but I would try flashing the appropriate kernel from Faux.
Try wiping cache and dalvic cache. After do a factory reset. Then flash the ROM twice! As in back to back without doing anything else.
Personally I would flash another Rom, Some like Nottach or Cm7.2 and see if it boots, if so then recharge the battery and then try fresh again doing the wipes like others have said.
I had issues before where my recovery wouldnt boot but reflash did and was able to redo things and all is well.
For MIUI you need a separate kernel I tried flashing before and was stuck too, then flashed a kernel and it worked (jokers v3 kernels work well)
I have just tried installing CM7 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257574
I made sure to do a wipe all data, cache, and dalvik cache. Then rebooted and waited for it go past the logo for 10-15 minutes (which it didn't).
This is the same process I go through for each rom, but it still doesn't work.
