sim unlock - Motorola Droid RAZR

I'm new to Motorola. With the Galaxy series I'd root and download an app that Sim unlocked the phone. Is there anything similar for my Droid RAZR? Or is it unlocked now that it's rooted and running a Rom?
Thanks for any help!

I've flashed a Brazilian firmware on it and it works fine with Rogers so it must be sim unlocked? Isn't it?
Any help? Does rooting and flashing Roms and flashing a different firmware from a different company/country mean it's unlocked to do I need to pay $ to an online company for an unlock code?

Crickets.....

On Razr rooting will only gives you super user access to system files, will not unlock it to use sim cards from another carriers. You'll need a sim code to unlock it. Ask your carrier for it. Thanks!

You have to unlock bootloader in order to do that. Read the thread about SE tweaker tool in the mini/pro development section also check out xxxlordxxx's thread about his one click tool.

AFAIK, no...
There exists two kind of locks,
SIM Locks (that lock the carrier), there is no free way to do this.
Cheaper way I found is the one unlock credit from Omnius, but you will be unable to unlock the bootloader. Same thing happens with several "unlock by software" methods. Read about it before unlocking if you plan to flash CM7 anyway after unlocking
BootLoader Lock, that prevents from replacing the kernel... It's free to unlock. And changing the kernel is required for the unofficial CM7.
Be careful because some unlocks work by patching the firmware, so upgrading it would sim relock.

Well, the device was bought from Vivo carrier, which said the device was unlocked, but I was not able to use sim card from Tim carrier. After flashing miniCM7 it is working. Maybe was a coincidence or bad contact between SIM card and the device. I have no idea how to clarify this now...

When you inserted the other carrier sim, and restarted the phone, did it asked for the unlocking pin code? Did you restart the phone? sim cards can't be hot plugged.

I've sim-unlocked my phone just by using SE updater and updating software from 1.6 to 2.1. Phone was locked to Telenor Serbia. So, what kind of lock was it?

It is possibility to unnlock via unlocking bootloader. My phone was locked on tele2. And after i unlock now my phone is sim unlocked. I already try to put in sim cards of other mobile networks.

Thanks a lot for the reply, very informative. I would probably use a paid service but since i bought these phones for 20 eur each, it's almost the price of the phone to unlock it, not really worth it.
Can you expand on BootLoader Lock? I though it did not do that, from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225 third myth says it does not do that. what gives
tried this: unlockbootloader sonymobile com / instructions but my phones don't have the Bootloader Status parameter, guess I'm SOL

1. Theresn't any unlock method as Galaxy_S unlock app, or anything like this. You'll need to buy your code. gsmliberty.com is a good place to get it.
2. You can root your device easily.
3. You cannot flash any rom, this is a locked bootloader effect. (by the way, you have not too much option of custom roms in razr as unlockes bootloaders device have, like the samsungs...
Wish you luck on razr. Cheers!

N00b - question

I've been reading all day, yet I still don't have it quite clear.
My phone can not unlock the BL, therefore regardless how many firmwares I will flash it I won't be able to remove branded apps, right? because I need it rooted to remove the apps I don't want.
On the other hand, If I get a code to remove the sim lock when the time comes and the BL may be unlocked, will I be able to unlock the BL, I read in a post something that confused me regarding unlocking the sim by a code from a internet provider, but don't remember where.
Thank You
I got mine networked unlocked and the bootloader is still locked. From my understanding it does not change it to yes by unlocking sim. I have only seen 2 people who said this method worked for them compared to the dozens that tried with no luck.
the only way to have your xperia rooted is through the unlocking BL and flashing rooted kernel or rooted system.img at this time. I suppose in the future there will be more options of doing it, so maybe that will solve your problem of locked BL.
i don't know if there is still the testpoint method for the xps.. but if yes you could try that .. should work afaik.. and if not then just wait for another root method

I have done already, two actually, the CE1 Generic and the NL Generic(because I heard of the speed).
Before I flash them I got from Antutu 6580
When I flashed the CE1 lower to 6520
And with the NL 6460 and now is 6634
But still some of the apps that came with the phone are still there, seems like the only way to get rid of them is only rooting.
I can't wait to get a way to do it.
By the way does anybody knows of a North America firmware for the LT26i, I can not find one. I live in El Salvador and I want my phone with a firmware for Latin America or the States, main reason is Google Voice another is that if I want to buy something from the Google Play the prices appears in Euros €.

I use unlocked phone, but I guess you can go to sonymobile.com and use sony bootloader unlock to get a code for unlocking your bootloader, although since u have a branded phone you may need a code from your career. when you got the code use fastboot to unlock it. other than these, if you just want root, flash your phone with flashtool to any rom you like. you dont need any bl unlocking for this and you still get the updates from sony. you dont even need any code from career or sony. since xperia S is new there might not be any prerooted rom so be patient and let the xda developers play around to find a way.
Hello, the code desimlockage operator does not allow unlocking

Antutu ratings fluctuate hugely on their own, test three times in a row and you probably wont get the same result each time.
Use Quadrant as your standard
I think you should wait for another way of rooting

[Q] Rooted Vs. Carrier Unlocks

Hello Guys,
I am relatively new to the android world, and I decided to give this a go. I was able to root my device, and I understand the bootloader is not unlocked. Nothing from my research indicated wether this meant I was also still carrier locked or not. Simply put, my question is: if I am rooted, am I carrier unlocked, even though my bootloader is locked? If not, what do I need to do to perform a carrier unlock?
Thank you for the help!

I have tried the link listed and it does not seem to work I am missing something here, I would like to carrier unlock my device as I am changing service and would love to be able to use my phone, how should I do this I am on a rooted me7 version s4
Unfortunately, this method does not work for me, as the phone does not respond to the code when it is inserted onto the dialpad.

S3 Android 4.3, network unlock

Any method to unlock? I tried GalaxSim Unlock, but it doesn't work.
clone imei?
if it is, then flash pathced mk6 modem and kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48312984
I mean, my phone is locked on Orange Romania and I want to unlock it, I don't want to clone my IMEI or w/e you gave me...
Unfortunately not like that.
You will need to contact our carrier or pay to have it done.
it's possible if your rooted
How?
