Tasks Sync with Google - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Ok, I've searched all through google and I want to figure this out. I really love the touchwiz calendar app and I desperately need to use some sort of tasks app that syncs with my google account. I know there are plenty of apps in the market that do this but I want to use the stock touchwiz one. But I can't figure out how to sync that with google. I looked at my wife's gs2 and that phone had a separate tasks app that did sync with a google account. So my question is twofold:
1. Is there anyway to sync my calendar-tasks app with google. (Right now it only syncs my calendar)?
2. Can I grab the tasks apk from the gs2 or does the international galaxy note have this and I can grab from there?
Thanks

Same here I'd like to know.
Although, I have been looking around. And also the GNote task works with Exchange.

The app that i have been using for this is google task organizer. Found this after trying out many.
Well updated and good dev support.
It syncs with the google tasks annd also appears as a GTO calendar in google calender.

Well I'm actually using any.do which I have been using on my xperia arc for quite some time now. However, I would like to be able to use the stock task app by Samsung because of it's beautiful UI and full screen widgets.

Anyone ever figure this out? I have an S3 and a Tab 2 7.0 and haven't figured out yet if stock touchwiz will sync the tasks portion up to google. I suspect it won't, otherwise I'd run a TW rom for the cool calendar app pin the S3 instead of AOSP CM10 based.

[Q] how to install google calendar on note?

Is there any way to install google calendar on the galaxy note? i'm sorry but S planner sucks very bad, it does not sync my time properly (weird it shows time data but is not actaully in the correct time slot), and i cannot set default reminder time. what are you thinking samsung?
it is unrooted running gingerbread.
Just sync your Google account to the Note and the calendar should be there.

The stock calendar is a pretty good implementation. I like the way it has the different tabs on the side for day, week and month views.
As stated, sync you google account in Settings->Accounts and make sure the Calendar option is checked.
Interesting. I find the stock calendar to be much better than the GMAIL one. If you really dont like it; try Jorte. Whatever calander app you use, you still sync the google content the same way.
Has anyone found away to sync the notes tasks with a Google account?

i've just tried JORTE, MUCH better. at least it sync properly.
HOWEVER, whenever i have 5 appointments int he same timeslot, JORTE only shows the last one. in google calendar, it would would shorten them to show all of them.. anyway i can do this in JORTE?
I think the calendar that comes on the note is FANTASTIC a lot better than any stock or gmail calendar I have seen on Android phones these days.

Using google calendar

I have just bought the new Samsung Galaxy S3 in the UK and loving the phone so far, coming from the HTC Desire so quite a big jump ins size and spec ways.
One small problem, I'm having so far is I have added the Google Calendar widget to one of the home screens but when I tap on the widget it doesn't launch the calendar app. When I had the desire, if I clicked on the top of the calendar it would launch the calendar on the current day and if I tapped on one of the appointments the calendar would open up on the day for that appointment, but neither of these are working.
I also can't find the calendar app within the app drawer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
The calender is now called S Planner in the app drawer.

Thanks this worked, I disabled the S-Planner as I thought this was Samsung's own bloatware app. This isn't the default google calendar app though which I prefer, is there a way to disable the S-Planner and use the genuine Google Calendar App. It seems a bit strange to me that samsung have replaced the google calendar with their own version. Not to keen on S-planner
Thanks
I have the same question, is it possible to replace s-planner with google calendar app?

Find the APK and you should be set.

Anybody know where to find google calendar app?
I searched on the Play store and it's on there. Someone pulled it out of ICS 4.0.3.

[Q] difference between pre-installed calendar and google calendar

hi to everybody,
yesterday i see for the first time the calendar app in the play store, this make me foolish, because it is not the same app pre-installed in every ROM....
if they are really different, in what?
thank you
No need to feel foolish. It was released on Google Play only yesterday. Or 2 days ago, I forget.
But bascially Google Calendar is stock calendar, because usually people have Touchwiz or Sense or Motoblur phones which are all different, skinned Google Calendars.
So Google released the stock calendar for people who want it (if you own a nexus or vanilla android device there's no point in downloading it)

i'm on CM9 (nightly), so the preinstalled calendar is only an old version of google calendar in play store?

No, I'm pretty sure they are the exact same. You can download Google Calendar and compare, though
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium
I think CM's calendar is built from source & themeable via the Theme chooser. I don't know if Google's calendar would be. Functionally I don't think you'd see any difference.
yes, i can't resist without compare, and..... are almost exactly the same:
in the G calendar we have the menu with new help and settings entries and the widget has the top bar blue....
i should install new gapps to see if updated CM calendar is really the G calendar in the store, what do you say?
it is the same
Actually, I have noted one difference between the two - when entering location information for an event, as you start typing it will suggest addresses from your contacts. Tried entering the same exact event details on the built-in calendar and it did not make any suggestions.
This is key for me, as I use the Google Now feature that lets me know when it's time to leave to arrive on time (I'm a computer support technician so I'm always leaving from different locations to go to my next destination). Other than that I haven't found any difference, but that's enough of one for me to use the standalone version instead.

[Q] Is there a way to make my S4 look like a GNex for exchange email purposes?

Here's the deal - I want to add my corporate email account to the stock app on my S4 however - my company has stopped approving individual Android phones to the network. They now want me to use the 3rd party app Touchdown, which I don't want to do.
My last phone was a Galaxy Nexus and was able to successfully use the activesync exchange. Is there a way to trick my company in thinking I have a GNex (approved phone) so I can use the native app? Changing the phone name in the build.prop file didn't seem to work.
I'd prefer to use the S4 native app but if I can pull the stock app from the GNex, that works too.
Thanks for your help!
Matt
I can't really answer your question, but have one of my own to you. What's wrong with Touchdown? I actually prefer it since I only have to enter my pin when I launch the app. When I configured the stock app for Exchange I had to enter it every time I woke my phone which drove me crazy. I acknowledge it's a personal preference thing.

Stock looks so much nicer. Looks like an app actually created for JB. Touchdown looks like a blackberry app from 2003. I like the way stock integrates with my calendar.
Also, I used the modified version of the stock app so I didn't have to enter a PIN

While I agree that visually Touchdown is not as nice as the stock app, it will sync the phone's native calendar with exchange.

When you setup the account in Touchdown you just select the Calendar to sync.
I have used it on many different ROMs and since my Galaxy Nexus. I have noticed that sometimes it can take a while for the events to appear in the calendar. (A couple hours at times at first.)
I think you are SOL. The Exchange server you will connect to can (and is probably configured) to check a unique hash generated from your current phone that is registered at the first sync that was done on your GNex. There are hacks out there, but I have no idea how well they work.

Can you point me to the modified stock app? I'd at least like to take a look and see if it's something I can use. I'll not totally sold on Touchdown and an alternative would be nice.

I'm a little confused here. So you can use your phone but only if you use Touchdown. Does touchdown connects to your network some special way? What error do you get when you try to use your S4 mail app?

I've been using Touchdown for a few years now and I really like it but I've never found a way to have the Touchdown calendar copied/synched/etc to the phone's built-in calendar. I know this option exists for the contacts but I just checked all of the settings in TD again and an option to do so with the calendar does not appear to exist. Please tell me how you accomplish this?

When you initially set up the account it gives you the tick boxes for email, contacts, and calendar. I select email and calendar but not contacts and it has always synced my calendar.

Correct. I was told by my internal IT that they do not authenticate individual models of Android phones anymore for activesync (because there is so many different versions. ugh.). So they tell you that if your device isn't already on the list, you need to use Touchdown. I was able to use the stock app on the Gnex, but can't on my S4. The error message simply says "Setup could not finish: Authentication failed".
I was hoping there would be some way to manipulate the app so my phone would appear as a GNex to the network.
Now that the S4 had been out for a little bit I will give this a bump and hope someone had a solution Please help . Thanks!

Not sure if this will help you but for a while I had flipped to another client see this url http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-note-2/231093-i-miss-my-email-widget.html
And see the post from 12-18-2012, 11:55 AM alvarez13.
One of the many times I restored I did have a problem with FC's and created a step 6...
6. If this doesn't work just remove those two apps from the app folder and install the 2 apks from the SD Card. Then run TIBU and convert email to a system app, if it errors reboot the device.
If all else fails you just remove those two apks, and rename the original files back and reboot. Of course as always....
Please make a backUp when trying any mod, I am not responsible if your phone breaks. Yada Yada :good:
So update: I downloaded CM and can use the stock email app. For some reason on CM - my S4 appears as a GNex to my company's servers. Is there anyways to make that change so I can enjoy stock email use on TouchWiz?

I would suggest Hyperdrive as an option and choose aosp email client vs tw. Hope that helps. Idk if it will but it seems it would since it's based off of cm's email client.
If I helped don't forget to hit that thanks button.

[Q] HTC Tasks App for Cyanogenmod [SOLVED]

Is there any way to get the HTC One Tasks app on Cyanogenmod? It's the only thing I miss from moving to CM10.1.
If there is no way to load the .apk for it in CM10.1, is there another app in the store that covers its functionality? Specifically, I'm looking for Office 365 Tasks sychronization and location-based reminders for Gmail tasks. It seems there is no app in the Play Store that has this, only the HTC Tasks app.

It's dependent on Sense, so no. Personally, I'm using GTasks and Notes and Tasks for MS Exchange. Yes, two apps-- but Notes and Tasks integrates into the stock Google Calendar app so Tasks appear there.

Thanks! I have downloaded Tasks for Microsoft Exchange. It definitely is a step down in functionality and form from the stock HTC app, but at least it will sync up my tasks.
