Well I saw this in another thread so I think it'd be cool to start here!
What device were you using before you purchased your Galaxy s II?
Here's my list:
Some random flip phone
Blackberry curve
iPhone
iPhone 3gs
iPhone 4
Galaxy s II
Galaxy s III (I wish!!)

Samsung Captivate
like the OP I came from the iPhone 3GS. It was my one and only ever Apple product. IMO back in summer 09 nothing matched it even from android. Now things have changed.
I still have to sell my 3GS I keep stalling. I have it rooted (can't unlock it long story) and is a 16GB. Any idea on what I could get for it?
HTC Inspire
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA
HTC Inspire here too! I still have it as a backup phone, the ICS roms available for it rock, a lot of fun to play around with for sure.
iPhone 3G, i got an x10 mini to replace that but the email client on it sucked pretty bad (got it for cheap and didn't want to spend the $ to buy the unlock code so i could try cm7, no idea why but the latest modem doesn't allow the sim to keep on working)
the SGSII is just great, i'm still unsure if i'll get the iphone5 or stay with android.

I came from the Droid X.
Pretty solid phone. I'd have a Nexus right now, but for better or worse (both, IMO), I had to switch to AT&T So, I opted for the GS2 which I had been drooling over for months anyway.
First iPhone 2G, then 3G, then mytouch 3G, iPhone 3GS, 4, then Inspire 4G, captivate, then galaxy s II.

If in good shape sure...its not a bad price
I personally wouldn't for that price.... just because you to tweak this damn thing so much before it works well. GPS is junk(no matter what you do), there is no 2.3, plasticy(but durable) construction, and probably used. Development is still good but if your coming from a mytouch 4g slide you'll notice a difference in speed.
No. Buy a new phone like the galaxy nexus with a contract or nexus s w/o contract.

Read this article.. I can relate, I picked up my ipod 4g and its soooo tiny now. Tell me your stories.

grabbed my wifes exhibit II last night and it was a joke how small it seemed.
Note Vs iPhone 4S & Samsung Captivate
My wife's iPhone 4S and my son's Samsung captivate (and my old iPhone 3GS) are so tiny now and make me wonder how they managed to fool me to love them.

I was surprised anyone purchased the Streaks until I joined this forum w/my Note.
this just reminded me I still have my Captivate running ICS around here somewhere...once I set it down I just cant seem to ever find that "little bugger" anymore!
When customers hand me their iPhones I now say,"what is this little thing"

Yeah I picked up my moms old Htc Aria and I was squinting. I cant see myself getting anything less than 5 inches in the future.

I know there was another thread on this - but that was old.
So here's another one!
What's your next phone?
Going for a Huawei?
Going for Samsung again?
Going over to HTC?

S3 no doubt I'm due for an upgrade so I'll be in line as soon as its available
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
I'm hoping to still get several more months, maybe a year, out of my Vibrant, so that's TBD right now. But if it died on me today I'd pick up a Galaxy Nexus since they're (relatively) cheap without a contract.
S III. Going to get an upgrade on October, so might as well, unless a better phone comes out during then (not planning to get an iPhone any time in the future.)

Same!
My 2 years are officially up in August. I'm hoping there will be some sort of leak for the next Nexus phone because I'm not blown away with the S3. :/
I think I could get another 6-8 months out of my phone but I'd rather upgrade to a phone that actually allows me to get 4G data and fully functional GPS.
Next iPhone
One x
Note 2
Or one of the next Nexus phones.
I'm waiting for the padfone myself.
Already have the GSM Nexus, but I switch off every other day with my Vibe. I just love the Vibe!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Also plan on getting a Note when they solve the emmc bricking issue. I am tempted by the GS III, but I need to play with one first.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
So far all indications point towards me getting a GS3
I got a GSM Nexus Prime.
So far, I love everything about it. Especially the lack of bugs (and abundance of features) in AOSP based roms and kernels!

I'm curious what it is about the Vibrant that you like over the Nexus that keeps you going back to it? Been looking at the Nexus, but still really satisfied with my Vibrant and don't want to invest in a phone that's not a significant upgrade.
Got a one s. I thought the lack of removable battery and no sd card slot would kill it, but I don't see it bothering me much. Galaxy s 3 would have been my choice but I heard its gonna be watered down anyway.
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like most of you are going for either the Galaxy SIII or the Galaxy Nexus.
My only worry in this regard is the screens.
The screen is what draws you to the device and Super AMOLED HD screens (minus the plus) just don't do it for me.
But yeah my phone is just dying. So glad I didn't keep that Moto Cliq around though... THAT would be a nightmare.
___
So I guess you've decided it for me!
I'm going with Samsung again and getting a Galaxy SIII!
Snapdragon S4 processor is ok,
2GB RAM will put me in a haze,
Let's just hope battery life better than the Vibrant's graze.
I would like to know which phone you are upgrading from and what do you think of SG3 compare to your old phones.
I am thinking of buying the SG3 but I think people will think differently depending their previous phone experience.
Just had a xperia s from Sony for a couple of weeks, as soon as I saw this device at work I sold my Sony and bought this beast...

Nokia E7
I am pgrasing from Nokia E7 ( about 1 year old). Loved the hardware keyboard, BUT even with BELLE upgrade it was just becomming a laggy disapointment...
The S3/III (is it a three or iii?) is a BEAST. Amazing screen, Android is customisable and it just flies through everything I do.. Love it
Upgrading from my galaxy nexus, needed something new in my hands, don't have anything against my g nex.

Upgraded from a iPhone 4S and well worth the upgrade!
Will be upgrading from the HTC Rezound whenever Verizon gets around to shipping my pre-order. Too bad to as the Rezound is an excellent phone that unfortunately has almost no developer support.
Upgrading from the HTC EVO 3D.

From this GS2, had the GS3 for 2 days and yet to switch it on. Went for the white one but really not sure about the colour, tempted to send it back and get the blue one. Surprised I've lasted this long tbh

Yopu missed the EVO 4G LTE....I had three in a row that locked on boot and even the techs couldn't turn them off with the power button reset.
Prior to than an SII
It looks really good, I am thinking about leaving HTC and jumping on to LG (especially since the One mAx has been confirmed not to be running the snapdragon 800.
But how to you thing development will be?
Eh, my upgrade is on Oct 1st going to s4

Well as long as you leave HTC you'll be fine. I don't trust these shenanigans they call "Sense"

G2s a good device but nothing spectacluar imo.
Really dont like the back buttons.
Wish that Oppo would drop in the US with the touch panel on the back of the device. Or the Mi3!
If the One Max has an S4 or an SD600 im going to consider the Note 3 but im really liking the Nexus 5 rumors right about now also. Tough decision next month.
Sent from my Evo 3G LTE
I dont think I would trade my s4 for it. The main reason is that is is LG. I had the thrill which was in my opinion was one of the best feature filled phones but there was no software upgrade/fix support. After spending all of the time modding I went and bought the s4 and gave the thrill to my sister. I love the s4 user community and would never go back.
