So what i want to ask you if it's possible to restore someway the "things" that he have on the current rom, maybe using some kind of programs.
Thx to all

Newbie question on backing up

Hello,
I am about to upgrade to WM6 but am not sure about the best method for backing up my Hermes data.
I would like to backup my sms, files, etc...but am unsure if it's possible to backup programs also and restore with WM6. Can I use activesync for any of this now? I believe this feature has been taken away with the lastest version.
I know about smsorganizer from searching but is there another all in one package that will do it all and allow me to restore in WM6? Can I use spbbackup for this?
Thanks.
LIP
Any suggestions?

backup and upgrade question

Hi All
And apologies for a noob question..
I have MRC3.2 running on my Hero and am thinking of upgrading to a 2.1droid rom... My question is this if I backup using nandroid backup thingy will it reflash the rom back to orginal or will it just restore my setting and apps etc(which is what I want to do) or should I use sprite backup and restore that way??
regards
Lohtse
A nandroid backup bacicaly takes a snapshot of the current state it is in, then will restore exactly how it is, so apps, settings, AND ROM. Its like system restore on your PC I think.
So yeah, if you want to change ROM, research that Sprite as I'v never heard of that. I used Titanium backup last time, It restored my apps, settings, sms,... Only problem was that It didn't save my facebook links to my contact in phone book. I'll have to do them again manually, when I can be arsed!!!

[Q] Titanium Backup

Ok, so I wanna start trying a lot of different roms, but didn't wanna keep losing all of my apps/settings, how exactly do i do that? someone told me to use Titanium Backup, and i got it, but am not quite sure how to use it... -.-; lol
There is a backup guide in my sig.
To be honest you'll learn to live without most of the settings backups you make but the app backups are useful. If you're going from rom to rom the settings will often not work - for example 2.1 backups won't work on 2.2. Sense UI backups wont work on Vanilla. 1.5 backups are a no go on 2.1 or 2.2 etc...
well google saves my contacts for me, but is there anyway to get around having to re-install all my apps?
Yes, use bulk backup of installed user apps in titanium, then restore them on new rom.
Donate version means no need to manually allow each app to get installed.
it works

[Q] Noob question: Replacing ROMs

I couldn't find an answer to this.
If I change to another ROM, will I also have to reinstall all the CABs? I'm currently using Mighty ROM, but want to try some of the newer ROMS floating around.
Use a backup app like sprite backup to backup all your data. Than just flash the new rom you want and after that, restore the data.

[Q] manila.exe - what should I do??

Hi,
Guys, please help!!
I installed new 3.14 ROM (using HSPL) in the same way I had installed my 1.66 ROM before...
I backed up my HD2 with SPB backup and after I restored it, I keep getting "manila.exe" error message all the time and the device is crashing all the time!
What should I do? What is that manila???
Id the problem in backing up or in the installing of the new ROM?
How could I solve this manila.exe problem?
Thanx
The manila is part of the HTC Sense, and I beleive you problem is from the SPB back up. You made a pretty drastic jump from your old 1.66 ROM to the 3.14 ROM. Parts of the back up is probably not playing nice with the new ROM as it was backed up from the much older ROM. I suggest you back up all your personal informatiion you like contacts using the SPB back up bit take and move all your documents, pictures, videos, and etc to your SD card and do a hard reset. I have ne dr been a fan of SPB back up, I know it makes changing ROMs easier but it sometimes causes problems.
Thanx for the answer!
I somehow managed it to work though...
I hard reset it, then flashed ROM again, then backed it up wut without "overwrite files" option in SPB...
We'll see how it will work further...

You need to do a hard reset and reinstall all applications. SPB Backup is only useful for restoring to the same ROM version.
