[Q] [HELP!] Galaxy Ace Urgent Problem - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hello everyone at XDA, Today i have an issue with my Galaxy Ace. I decided to upgrade my Galaxy Ace at version 2.3.4 (Rooted) to this CyanogenMod i found today @http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1490867.
So, after placing the custom rom into my sdcard, i booted my phone into recovery mode and pressed the update option. It seemed to update normally. After the installation was completed, the phone rebooted and after the normal Galaxy Ace startup, Instead of the Samsung logo flashing, It showed a word "ANDROID" with spaces in between and in Times New Roman. Then, after 10 minutes, it was still at that same black screen with the "ANDROID". Then, i tried going into recovery mode and i tried to factory reset it, it showed
"E: format_volume : rfs format failed on /dev/stl13
Formatting /cache...
E: format volume: rfs format failed on /dev/stl14
Data wipe complete."
Then, i tried rebooting the phone. The same thing appeared.
So, Can anyone help me PLEASE?

PS, I can still access my Download Mode, Recovery Mode and Dump mode.
Also, im a noob at this, can someone post a detailed tutorial or something helpful? Will give thanks and $$$ if it worked

Might be a silly question, but are you using CWM Recovery?

I don't think so
But i have the zip on the root of the sdcard though.
Thanks for the reply!

U need to use clockwork mod recovery 5.0.2.6 to flash cm roms. Older 4.0.0.9 might not work. And do format data/factory reset prior flashing
Sent from your phone

The Only Problem you have is that you dont have CWM Recovery Installed on your PHone. You need it for flashing custom ROMs on the phone. Get the latest version in the Forums and flash it via the instructions given.
Then try Reflashing the ROM.

How am i supposed to install CWM when my phone cannot start up?
Also, i cannot factory reset using recovery mode, If that is possible, How do i connect my phone to the computer using recovery/dump/download mode?

If you don't have the CWM recovery zip in your sd card, paste it. (By Card Reader) Or if you've got it, go into recovery mode and just flash that zip. [Install zip - Choose zip - Select]
After which you can flash CM7

Boot the phone into recovery mode
Flash the CWM file that you said is already on the phone
Reboot the phone into recovery mode again - this time it should load CWM recovery instead of stock Samsung.
Select to do a Factory Reset and repeat again
Select to Clear Cache and repeat again
Go to Advance Menu and select to Clear Dalvik Cache
Return to the Main Menu
Select to install zip from SD Card NOT INSTALL UPDATE.ZIP
Browse to your new ROM and install
Reboot the phone and hopefully it will boot up.
If not, I suggest you go to samfirmware.com and find a stock ROM for your phone and flash it with Odin by following a guide which you can find easily here or on Google... there's even Video Guides on YouTube so you don't have to read anything.

flash cwm from stock recovery.

Download the rooted stock or deodex version, copy to root of ur tab. Open rom manager, select install rom. After that it's pretty much self explanatory.

i assume since it is rooted that you already have clockwork recovery installed.
hold power and vol down to boot into recovery
select wipe cache/factory restore
select install from zip
select the rom i showed you
reboot!
you must put the rom in the root of your tab first
use androzip to move it there

sorry but still a newbie here and i might get annoying to some peeps here but just very cautious on how this would work. so i'm going to ask question
factory restore - does this mean i'm going a clean up and unrooting my device? from the steps above? is the end product going to have the touchwiz update or is this the touchwiz update with a email sync problem? where does the touchwiz update happen? i didn't see that step above?
lastly.. is there a video i watch to see this in action.
galaxytabhacks.com is a bit slow on updating their video's on how to update a rooted GT 10.1 with touchwiz update...
thank you all for the current post and i'm sure that there are many users here that will appreciate this information.. (for all you do please post and cheer on the peeps that helped us out).
how did you root your device?
if you follow those directions you will have the latest tw rom rooted

install
reboot
you are now on the latest tw rom with root...easy!

almost confident
ok.. so go to clockwork recovery - i know how with that two options (icons by pressing those buttons)
make a backup - don't know how?
factory reset - i'll read up
install zip from sdcard - done it before
install - if i find it i'll select install
reboot - hopefully
so how does the backup work - any steps.. where can i find that option. thanks again for all these information..
in the main clockword recovery menu select back up and restore ...select backup
these are all in the main menu of cwr... dont worry about the wipe/factory restore just select it and do it.....make sure you put the new rom in the root of your tab first. just like you did with the root.zip when you rooted
put the new rom zip in your tab
boot into cwr
make a back up
do a wipe/factory restore
select install from zip
select choose zip
select the rom zip you downloaded and put in the root of your tab
install
reboot
this is from the first link i gave you
Here is the clockwork mod menu
- Reboot system now (self explanatory )
- Apply update from SDcard. (when you connect your device to your computer it will show up as tablet. The SDcard that cwm refers to is simply your device storage. Always make sure to copy install.zips to the root directory of your tablet storage.) You use this when applying an update for a specific ROM if that is what the ROM developer says.
- Wipe Data/ Factory Reset You should always do this before you install a new ROM or if you are having minor issues with your device.
- Wipe cache partition Think of this as the lite version of whats above . If you do above though it doesn't hurt to do this too.
- Install zip from SDcard Use this to install new ROMs.
- Back up and Restore
- Mounts and Storage use this to connect your device to your computer when in recovery mode. It is also possible to transfer files to your device while in this mode.
- Advanced What you are interested in here is something called dalvik cache, you want to wipe this too before installing any new ROM
- Power off
this is the main menu of clockwork recovery
backupand restore...wipedata/factory reset...install zip reboot are all on this menu

Need some help as well.
My io tab went into that infinity loop so I flash it by fast boot, but then accidentally rooted it? i guess, as I see the superuser icon.
How do I get it back to stock. I have no backup with it at all....and don't know what is happening.

[Q] Error erasing recovery for ROMRacer's CVM

Hi,
I am getting an error using moto-fastboot trying to flash ROMRacer's CVM Recovery.
I have flashed the unlocked bootloader & root sbf from here using RSDLite: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138204
I have also used the one-click root here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255548
When I boot into fastboot (Pwr + Vol Down), I can complete the first step in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
However when I try:
Code:
moto-fastboot erase recovery
It gives me:
erasing 'recovery'... FAILED (remote: (00180001))

Any help would be appreciated.
just get the rom manager app and flash the zip that way it works perfect hope this helps! flash rom manager recovery at the top then flash romracers recovery
Do you mean these instructions?
Install Instructions to Use RomRacer's CWM w/ ROM Manager APP:
1) Download the ".zip" file of your color choice (make sure you choose the right version AT&T or international), and place the .zip file on the sd-card (internal storage).
2) Download ROM Manager from the Market (paid or free, it doesn't matter) and install app.
https://market.android.com/details?i...mmanager&hl=en
3) Open ROM Manager and select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery," making sure to select the right device (i.e. Atrix 4G). This will flash the current version of CWM to your device, which will also work (see details/limitations discussed below).
4) Now, choose "Install ROM from SD Card", and choose the .zip file that you saved on your internal storage. You should not need to delete any of the cache options. ROM Manager will reboot the device into CWM and flash the .zip automatically, and then reboot again.
5) You should now have RomRacer's custom CWM installed over the ROM Manager version. You can now select Reboot into Recovery from ROM Manager, and it should boot into CWM Recovery.

Are you sure you did that with Cwm 5, and not the stock recovery???
If not, install Cwm 5, wipe everything, install Cm 7.2, reboot.
Then reboot again in recovery, and install Gapps.
Done!
Edit: Don not forget to mount system and data before flashing gapps.

Yeah right. Nowadays people never stop to amaze me. U want to flash cm yet u didnt even know what recovery u use. Didnt the tutoriual u followed mention anything about cm roms needs cwm recovery?
Now my advice would be flashing stock rom via odin and stay with it before u do any more damage to the poor phone. look in the sticky thread or in the dev subforum howto flash stock rom via odin.

I use Odin Multi Downloader v4.34
The data partition not formating would be a cause for concern, if I was you I would try formating it with ClockWorkMod by doing a data wipe/factory reset.
If it was me I would use my computer to put CyanogenMod 7.2 .zip file on the SD (its stable and handy for getting things working)
Most stock ROMS won't flash through CWM.
So to summerise I would try this:
Go into download mode.
Link up with Odin and select your OPS file (make sure GTI5500 OR 5503 appears at top and not the word Android)
Select "One Package" in Odin options
Download a .zip of Clockworkmod for galaxy 5
select it as the One Package and don't touch the other boxes...
let clockworkmod flash into the phone and let it boot into it
now try the data wipe in clockworkmod
install the cyanogenmod zip from the sd and reboot
good luck
I've attached my Clockworkmod Zip file. I use it at least once a week so its good

Yep! There is no key combo for recovery on Galaxy5, if I need to boot recovery and cannot load the rom I just put it in download mode and use odin to reflash clockworkmod, then when its finished it auto boots into cwm and I do whatever I need to

[Q] Reboot Loop, what should i do? Maybe installing SHOstock3 rom? Any Help?

Hello!!
I have a problem with rebooting loop. (i cant touch correctly the power button, didnt work, also all the time is rebooting, or staying without screen light, i cant explain correctly!!)
I tried to fix it with firmware update trought Kies, but didnt work, than i install the Siyah-v3.2.6.4 from this link: http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-ro...y-s2-sgh-i777/ but the problem continues.. what can i do? i want to try install "SHOstock3 RoM for i777" from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2005266 but with this instructions, i think i cant, because im noob in this, and i need step by step, can anyone help me correctly?
Thank you!!
Cheers
Bruno
First please read and follow the rules. This is the third thread you have started or posted in about the same issue. This is not allowed.
Before starting enter recovery and perform a wipe data/factory reset
1) Flash a stock plus root package
2) Install a custom kernel which contains clockworkmod recovery
3) Flash the firmware of your choice from recovery.
Also never use GalaxyS2Root site or tools as this will cause you continued problems.
Read the sticky posts and also visit and read the links in my sig. This will tell you what else needs to be done.

If you can't figure that out you really shouldn't be flashing your phone until you have a better understanding of these things.

RETURN. TO STOCK. and don't flash anything until you know exactly what you are doing.
