[Q] AOSP ICS rom - camera wide photos - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I'm using AOSP 4.0.3 ICS BETA1 with hotfix 3 and
Camera FIX Neo on my Neo, and I'm very satisfied.
But I can't work out how to take widescreen photos
with the camera. In camera settings you can only set
the picture size (8MP, 5MP), there is no aspect or wide
option.
But when recording videos the aspect is 16:9
Is there a way to set the camera in this rom to take
widescreen photos?
If not, is there a way to use a different camera apk?
Thank you for your help,
neo noob

Sorry bro if you want wide screen photos try a different camera app from market. as i dont think that ics camera takes widescreen photos :/

Seems that the sony ericsson default camera app just crops the image when in widescreen mode. thanks for your help!

[Q] One question about Semc Debrand Engine| V2.0

Since i'm a newbie here and i'm not able to make a reply in the original post...
I'm very interested in this ROM. It's based on CM7, which is not able to shoot videos in 640x480 resolution. Maybe you would ask me why not shooting 720p videos, my answer is I need use the wide angle that 720p doesn't have but 640x480 does.
Semc Debrand Engine seems to have the ability(I guess) though it's based on CM7, because all semc apps were modded into this rom. So I'm wondering if the ROM can shooting 640x480 resolution videos. If it can, I'll surely download and flash it. In China, you know, downloading from some sites can make me mad. I don't want to waste too much time on meaningless things...
Sorry if my poor Chinglish bother you
Since i downloaded and flashed it i can confirm that all camera modes (vga ,qvga etc) work at full .A most recommended rom in my opinion
Mate...there is no such thing as wideangle unless you have a wide angle lens...actually the horizontal view captured in vga and hd is the same...only the vertical view is cropped in hd mode...so wheather shoot in vga or hd...you get the same field of view.

however i did get "wider" videos using vga mode than them using 720p in original(semc) rom...

[Q] problem with wide 16:9 photos [log attached]

I'm using the latest nightly of Rootbox + latest dorimanx 8.1. Here is my problem: in photo app settings I set 6.4 MP (wide photo) after took a photo it has 8MP 4:3 ratio. I've tested jb camera+, camera ZOOM FX, camera FV-5 and camera zoom. Every time was the same result instead of wide photo settings. Any advises are appreciated. Does anybody know which part of code is responsible for taking wide photos?
I was searching through xda today and I found answer for my question. All new AOSP roms are not capable of taking 16:9 photos. Below quote why it is in this way:
„moving to the open source camera hal it removed additional resolutions with 16:9 this is not rom related but device tree related something every aosp rom has in common”
It's really sad for me I love to take 16:9 photos but now I'm not able to. I hope it's going to change in the nearest future.

[Q] Pictures taken with Camera are not the same size

Hi, the size of picture taken does not match what I see in the camera app, and by size I don't mean image size on disk or resolution.
Basically, what I see "through the lens", as in, what I see on screen when I open the camera app, is slightly smaller than what I get when I take a picture and view it in Gallery. It seems the camera is capturing a little more than what's shown to me on the phone screen. It's pretty annoying when you line up a nice shot only to have the picture taken framed slightly larger than what you saw on screen.
Anyone else have this problem?
I'm using CM10.2.0 stable for i9300, clean install (wipe system, data, cache, preload), with stock CM10.2 camera and gallery.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

What you see on screen in AOSP camera is 16:9 and camera sensor is 4:3, so you have an answer
You can shoot in 6MP 16:9 if you want exactly the same.

Thank you so much.
Do you mean that the camera only shoots 4:3 in 8MP? Is this because 8MP is its native resolution so it matches the camera as 4:3?
Is there any way I could take advantage of the 8MP camera but have it shoot in 16:9?

Exactly. Camera is able to shoot in 4:3 in 8MP mode. Basically it's an industry standard. Almost all cameras (from iPhone to even entry level DSLRs) shoot in 4:3. Other popular standards are 3:2 and 5:4. 16:9 is used mostly by cinematography.

No. Either you have to choose 8MP 4:3 or 6MP 16:9.
6MP 16:9 would be nothing more than cropped 8MP picture to maintain 16:9 ratio.

Stock Camera app - 20mpx not in Fullscreen, why?

Hey guys,
The question is pretty much on the title. Stock camera app on 20mpx camera setting, it does not appear in fullscreen, but on 3rd party apps it does work in fullscreen. If I wanna take a fullscreen photo, I gotta downgrade the megapixel's to 15mpx for it to be 16:9.
Why is it like this?
Thank you for any answer!
Hi,
Yes, 20mpx is 4:3 while 15mpx is 16:9, (more) like the screen.
3rd-party apps just use 16:9 resolution PREVIEW and take 4:3 resolution IMAGE while stock app shows what is actually in your viewfinder

g cam

gcam for p smart 2019
Use Open Camera
Tried every possible gcam port. None of them is working properly. Then I downloaded Open Camera, used it before on another phone. The jpg or png that come straight out of the app are ok, a bit better than stock. But the DNG, raw files, have so much more potential. For critical shots, take the raw files, do some quick editing on Adobe Lightroom (free app) and you'll be amazed how much detail is available. The raw files are on par with my LG G6 pictures. It's just that the in camera jpg processing is not that great. The sensor though is able to capture lots of details. For normal shots the stock camera is fine.
Stock photo camera is fine but video camera is awfull!
Google cam from Arnova8G2 GCam_6.1.021_Advanced_V1.5.190418.1850.apk work on my P Smart 2019
Picture, Video, Lens Blur, Panorama and HDR mode work well.
Only thing that didn't work are Portrait and Night mode.
