Hi people,
I just want to know how do i can make my phone vibrate when receiving a text message? I'm using ICS Passion V13.1
Thanks
Select the Messaging icon then hit menu-settings then scroll to the bottom to notification-vibrate and select always or what ever you want
it saddens me that this was asked on a developers forum
Gosh! thank you a lot.. I was wasting my time searching this!

Hi all,
is it possible to display new whatsapp messages directly on lockscreen? (like on ios? Display lights up if new message comes in and i can read message directly on lockscreen, thats what I want.
Bought some apps but nothing works fine :-(
Sorry for my poor Englisch...
For directly showing message on lock screen it depends on the ROM I think.
Is there any rom for my desire hd available?
I am using virtous quattro with ics at the moment.
You need to post this there.. I don't have desire. So, can't say.
I think widget locker is what you need. I use handcent for sms, and it gets through the lockscreen just like you describe.

The lockscreen code is either part of the framework.jar or the systemui... and if the device is not rooted, you cannot change it.
If you are a programmer, what you could try is to create a new window (for example with the WindowManagerImpl hidden class) trying different window types: window types define the layer where the window will be placed. For some window types you might need some special permission (for example I think TYPE_SYSTEM_OVERLAY will be placed above lockscreen, and it needs the SYSTEM_DIALOG permission)
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Currently there isn't an (lockscreen-)app that allows that. If you are a programmer you can always try to make it yourself, like mentioned above. But be warned, it's going to be a hell to create it
I´m not a Android programme
There is an option in the settings of whatsapp "turn on the pop up messages" check that box n u are good to go
i know this option, but it´s still behind the lockscreen...
Hey guys!!
This pop-up message, allows you to answer the message even with the lock screen. I think it's a lack of security because anyone can answer it if you forget your phone somewhere.
I've already try to talk with the developers of Whatsapp, but with no success.
On iphone you can only read and unlock to answer.
That's right, the popup feature when set to 'always' or 'only when screen off' shows messages and I think even allows replying from the lockscreen. You can't go view the full convo without unlocking though. This is the way it works at least in the latest beta from http://www.whatsapp.com/android/

I'm happy with my S3 but I come from a Galaxy Note. In S3 there's no option to add new words to Predictive text dictionary.
Are you having the same problem? Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks in advanced.
Type the word, and it will learn

I'm used to typing with old phones keyboard and thanks to you I've realised that if I want to add a new word I have to use the qwerty keyboard.
Do you know how to delete words added to the dictionary. I could do it in Galaxy Note.
Sorry for all the incoveniences

you're great.

Hi all! Congrats to those who got their shiny new S3s.
I would like to check if anyone is experiencing the same bug as me within predictive text:
Save a new word to the auto-substitution and/or my word list and then restart your phone.
Do your custom words disappear? Mine are not preserved after the restart.
Do test it and let me know!

Oh man, you're right. The same happens to me. I wish Samsung published a new firmware with all the discovered bugs fixed.
Please test this with your S3s people! I'll be putting in an official complaint to samsung tomorrow! Need more to confirm the presence of the bug

Just updated my gf's S2 to ICS 4.0.3 & when using the 3x4 keyboard, in the predictive txt area there is the option to add your own word, why would this be removed for the S3? Makes no sense??
Yeah same problem with mine, I spent and age adding words the first day then next day they all gone and wasn't auto learning new ones, but yesterday it started learning again and for me this is the most serious bug I ever saw on a phone.
---------- Post added at 03:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:49 PM ----------
Is there any system file to Backup/Modify/Restore because I can't afford to keep losing all my words.
Has this problem been solved in the new update?

need to change to qwerty to add words to my words list...
a restart will reset the my words list..
in smiley list under the qwerty kb there is no BIG SMILE

is there a way to add the words to my words list frm the pc...its sucks to add 100's of words manualy
I was never a big fan of stock keyboard...
I find it a bit gimmicky especially the predictive text
I suggest you try a third party keyboard instead... SwiftKey a much better in option in my opinion.
I've been trying to find out myself if there's any other way to add words by finding the file in the Root folder that saves my words list so I can save and replace it every time I reboot, but no one seems to know how.
Hi I have the same problem as soon as I restart my phone or switch it off all the words in the list will be deleted, my old firmware was I9300XXALE9, & after visiting the Samsung workshop to fix this issue they've installed this firmware I9300XXALEF but the same problem remain the same, please advice how to solve this issue.
BRs,
Ahmad T.
I've been digging through the Root files to try to find where it saves "My word list" and all I've found is the file:
Root/data/user/0->/data/data/com.android.providers.userdictionary.
But even with words in my word list that folder is empty, so come on there must be someone out there clever enough to find the folder the words are saved in.
Hi guys,
Where can i turn on the notifications on icons like new messages (counter of new messages)? The notification of missed calls works fine, appears the number above the icon but in messages don't. How can i do that?
My ROM 4.2.2 is Foxhound For GS3 foxhoundrom.net/?p=1006

Hi guys,
I'm sorry, maybe my request is very stupid, but for me it's very important.
Can I ask to someone to create one stupid Xposed Module that "override" the
WhatsApp notification message from "Message from %s" to "You have a new message".
(or a custom message will be much better)
For me that is a very PRIVACY mode!
I don't understand why no one thought about that... maybe because is stupid LOL.
Thanks at all!!!
PS
What do you think about this request?
mmm... after 150 views... no reply! ok gotcha, stupid idea
cheers guys
You could use MissedIt. With this app you're able to create a widget which can display new messages as you want. But only on LS/HS, not in the statusbar.

Thanks Fiz:ik for your answer, but is not exactly what I'm looking for
Cheers
Thread moved from the Xposed Framework Modules forum to Android Q&A, as the former is for module releases, not questions/requests (except for the stickied requests thread.) Please use that instead.
Moved to this wonderful phone recently from iPhone and love it,however, I do miss a few things like making a window pop up in front of me when I have a message in notification bar. I've played with all the settings and also miss the new email or message counter rather than a small blue circle against the app. Bet there's heaps of ways! This thing can be modified to be anything! Cheers

You can have counters instead of the circle by going to Settings -> Notifications -> More Notification Settings and changing the method.
The popup is not possible by default in Android (would find that extremely annoying personally) but there are two options:
- Find a 3rd party app in the Play Store (search notification popup)
- Use the in-built popup feature for some apps like WhatsApp.

Fun fact. The pop up notifications are old Android features from 2 - 3 years ago that iOS adopted. So when you say iPhone type notifications they're actually from older versions of Android. ? They are now mostly reserved for messaging apps. You can get it working for messages and I'm sure you can find aps for the rest of the stuff. I have to admit that EMUI is not ideal for notifications.
