Installed the newest Energy Rom. Flashed the stock kernel so that way I wouldn't have problems. Everything seems to be working right except for 2 things:
1. Screenshots
2. Sim Toolkit
When I press Power + Home.... the screen flashes and it makes the sound and says "screenshot saved to Camera Shots" but when I go there, no screenshot gets saved....
Its frustrating because I use that feature A LOT!!!!!
I don't know whether I should have posted this in the development threads or here.... I just know there are a lot of good people here that might know how to fix this.
When I try to open Sim Toolkit ... it says "Sim Toolkit is not ready or unsupported"
How do I fix this?????
Did you upgrade your SIM Card when you got the Amaze?
As far as the screenshots go I'm using Energy and it works fine. Do you have enought space on your sdcard?

First have file explorer and look either on your SDCARD (Internal) and under DCIM folder it is there if it is not look in your SDCARD2 (External) the mountable one and look in the same folder as i mention from the above..
Second if it is still not there pull or edit your build.prop using the file explorer with root permision and find the ff. Line..
If your
ro.htc.framework.screencapture = false
You need to change it to
ro.htc.framework.screencapture = true
and go to your cwm and clear dalvik-cache
Otherwise just download any screen capture app on the market like shootMe or ScreenShot It

About the SIM Toolkit it a carrier based tool for stuff that the older phones needs like for ringtones read/backup contact if your sim contacts are full etc.. since older phone dont have nor didn't have market like the android market to get stuffs like what we have today..
As for 2.3 android stop or don't have support for SIM toolkit anymore nor i think newer SIMs for it is not needed for the most anymore.. cyanogen MOD 7 still have that tool but it is laggy as hell and most of the time doesn't work.. still you can access the menu and stuff but not fully working..
Couldn't find the screen shots anywhere... neither the internal nor external... so looks like I have to do step 2 that you mentioned.... so my question is... where do I find these files???

I opened up build.prop and everything is set to true... so I'm screwed... I might have to reflash the rom... using outside apps to do screen caps is NOT an option...

Ahh I see,, well good luck and if the problem still arise then maybe Post on the Energy™ Rom thread instead here to get better help since the problem is in the ROM you've downloaded it self..
As for me I set Mine to False since i have the app ScreenShot It and i just shake the phone and it does get screenshot than pressing the Power & Home button.. just for my preferences =)

I fixed the problem by reflashing the stock kernel (provided with the Energy Rom) and then reflashing the Rom itself... seems to work.... hopefully it wont mess up again.... or I'm gonna have to remove Energy Rom.... and I don't wanna do that...
I honestly do not trust certain apps... specially if they weren't built into the phone's o/s... I'm very picky that way...

Just a side note, if you are not using the sim that came with tour amaze, or equivalent, meaning newer sim, your amaze will not be able to really reach its full potential. I can confirm a major diference in dl speeds and connectivity between older sim and the latest ones.
Just a thought.

So I did a lot of searching to find out what the Sim Toolkit actually does. Didn't find anything, found where to get it, but not what it actually does.

Attention Devs. Opened my camera settings and saw settings for blink detection, smile capture, and a bunch of other ones too. Tried to turn on blink detection, and got a force close:-( after that all the extra settings were gone. Anybody else seen this? Which dev can unlock these hidden powers first?
Cool find! I'd love to know more about this as well.

Can you take a screenshot of this? A screenshot would really help everybody see where exactly the settings are located and how they are laid out. Thanks!!

Alright.. doing
Code:
adb remount
adb push whatever.apk /system/app/
adb reboot
Does install the apk. However it will not work due to the libraries and other files in ICS. So I would just wait for ICS. On the bright side face unlock is more of a gimmick, it's not very good at securing your phone.
love to see someone back engineer this or something to get it working on Gingerbread
used it on cm9, but would rather use GB as a daily driver still

install this with rooted phone to system/apps
or try to install as an apk file
So I have been researching on how to install the HTC eReader apk onto my rooted Evo 3D running CM9 by Joelz. What I found is that i have to move the apk into system/app and then change the permissions, yet every time i move it there it gives me an error. I also tried changing the permissions while the apk was still in the sdcard folder, yet no soup. Any suggestions?
I'm thinking because im HBoot 1.50 it's not true root so i can't change permissions. If that's true any work around? I loved that app and have tried countless others with no satisfaction.

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but in the file manager that you are using, do you have the options set " Mount file system - Mount /./system as writable" ? that could explain the errors that you might be having and also pretty sure if you have to allow it superuser permission... I at times forget myself to make sure to enable it to be writable. Hope it helps....

You would need the frameworks for a Sense build to get the proper icons and stuff, but then also a sense-compatible kernel to make those work.

Does your memory card show up under Settings/Storage?
Yeah, shows up in storage, shows available space and unmount and format. Tried amounting and mounting but no change.
It also shows up in any file explorer and I can access all files, but no luck on the apps listed .its not really a massive problem as I will live with it till official release comes out with, but if it's a simple fix or me just being thick I will sort it.had issues with S2 and memory card on custom roms, but this has really thrown me due to it being there but not in some apps?

I'm sure you already have, but while in the Gallery, have you selected the menu/View by/Content in device?
Yeah tried that no change. At least the battery seems even better so counters all the time spent trying to figure it out

And you've taken the card out and put it back in and tried again? Did a complete battery pull, etc??
hi guys
theres a few things that i need to know if somebody could be so kind to assist or point in the right direction.
i have my s3 international for the past month now. i had put cyanogenmod 10.1 and it had its issues yet my titanium back up and my sd card was working fine. now i got my s3 back yesterday with stock rom and i flashed it and put cwm then restored a backup of the old nightlies then i did an update with the new nightloies, problem is that now none of my images are there and titanium backup is giving me the elements failed when i try to restore missing apps. how do i go about restoring my images from a nandroid backup? or where is it? i like this rom but now i noticed that the battery drain lasst night was like 15%. as you can see im still a noob at this so i cant check logs etc cos i dont know where to look. i have attached screenshots that might help.
Images are either stored on your internal or external SD card, in the DCIM folder. If they aren't on your external SD then you have lost them, nandroid doesn't back up the internal SD unless you tell it to and service would have wiped the internal SD.
Ask in your ROM thread for specific help, but I'd suggest flashing a fresh version of the ROM without performing any restore - see how it runs for a few days before you add any apps.
If you aren't confident then best stick with stock, or an modded version of stock, for a while first.
so what section do questions go?

thank you, very good advice. i will miss those apps for those few days tho. i think that if titanium back up will work i will get all my images etc back.
going to try your advice now and if i dont come right ill be back right here.
thanks again
Mate, if your images aren't on your internal or external sd card - they ain't there. No amount of titanium backup fiddling will restore your images.
Regarding your apps, play store will have a record of anything you have downloaded. Menu, my apps, slide left. Profit.

so you saying that if i ddi a nandroid backup and a full titanium backup and if i did a wipe then i will still lose all my images etc??
Mate, using a file browser, look in your DCIM folder on BOTH the internal and external SD cards.
If you can't find it, download a software called Recuva. It works like a charm. Sure, they'll be some corrupt images, but, most of them are there.

thank god fro tiem viewer! so i checked at home and i have all stuff backed up on my external at home and im lucky it was plugged in so i could check. EVERYTHING in a fodler called s3. i surprise myself sometimes. only thing i wont have is the pictures i took after i backed it up, thats a small speech tho. so i dont have to stress now,i can do it at home. i think im gonna need a larger sd card, i got an 8 gig card but shows as 5.6 or so.

I haven't but it doesn't bother me, also you can report in tapatalk, you hit menu then web view and it opens the full XDA site, with added reporting feature.

Why go through all that trouble?
What's the best way to backup, kies air or plug in and use like usb ?
Do you have to let a Rom work its way into the phone per say before making judgements and installing another rom ?
