[Q] Galaxy SII LTE - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I just bought the Galaxy SII LTE from Shanghai and i want to change the ROM, which most probably is Chinese, to the English one. I don't like the chinese notifications and programs. I can select one of three languages, English/Chinese/Korea, but still is not enough for me.
Is it possible and if yes how?
Thanks for the help!!!

There are many, many threads, tutorials, and how-to's in the Android Development and Original Android Development section of the SGS2 forum.
First try reading the stickies, first 10 pages then the last 15-20 pages... there are also 100's of youtube tutorials on the subject. There have been blog posts written that you'll find easily by searching on Google.
Here are my not so detailed instructions:
1. DL ROM
2. DL Odin
3. Flash ROM
EDIT: First though, you'll want to find the correct forum. This is the i9100 forum. I think the LTE is NOT the same as the i9100.
EDIT: I was mistaken, it's not T727.

Actually, he got his from Shanghai, so it's probably NOT the SGH-I727. The SGH-I727 is the North American variant of Galaxy SII that is LTE enabled. Likely his is the SHW-M250S or SHW-M250K or SHW-M250L, which is the Asian variant of Galaxy SII that is LTE enabled.
The SHW-M250* models don't have their own forums... there is a thread in this forum for them at the moment.

Ahh. I see. Sorry, I wasn't sure of the model number... just suspected that it wasn't i9100.

And it's not.
I think I mis-spoke on the models I mentioned above though; I just looked at the wikipedia page, I guess none of those are LTE enabled.
The other possibilities on what he has are the SHV-E110S, known as the "Galaxy S II LTE", and the SHV-E120L, which known as the "Galaxy S II LTE HD".
OP, you'll need to look for firmwares specific to your device. Be careful.

Three Versions of Galaxy S II GT I9100?

Hey Guys,
I was just going through the Samsung's website and reading if the Indian version of the Galaxy S II has NFC or not. Samsung India says in Facebook says that the Indian Version of Galaxy S II will have NFC, however, their website and the page dedicated to the Galaxy S II doesn't have any details of the same.
I was looking around and found something interesting in the SAR Information Page.
For those who don't know what SAR is:
"SAR stands for Specific Absorption Rate which is the unit of measurement for the amount of RF energy absorbed by the body when using a mobile phone. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level in laboratory conditions, the actual SAR level of the phone while operating can be well below this value. This is because the phone is designed to use the minimum power required to reach the network. Therefore, the closer you are to a base station, the more likely it is that the actual SAR level will be lower."
There was some research done and it was concluded that the Samsung Galaxy S II has one of the lowest levels of SAR value when compared to other phones.(0.338 W/kg.) (Research was not done by Samsung! )
I was looking at any confirmation regarding the same and came across the SAR Information Page.
Have a look(attached image).
The webpage clearly shows that there are three versions- GT-I9100, GT-I9100G, GT-I9100T.
Anyone have any idea what this could be?
I am going to check out other regional sites of Samsung to find out if the information there is any different.
Not able to locate the Galaxy S II website in the Samsung Australia Site, where it has been released on May 27th.
EDIT: Was able to get the Firmware download informationAttachment)
Will be checking on the UK Site now.
There are about a dozen versions, aren't there? They have slightly different, and in some cases completely different, numbers. The version coming to ntt docomo in Japan is SGH-N033, and the version going to Telstra in Australia is GT-I9100T.
Yes let's hope these differing versions allow for changes...especially in radio design...hopefully to improve some of the issues around wifi reception some are experiencing, and also maybe some of the screen tint issues!

I heard about
GT-I9100: 1st version, eg. in Europe without NFC
GT-I9101: with NFC
GT-I9103: I9100 with NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor
Recently I've been reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S II for Samsung. Tested out the i9100 European version. It works like a charm.
But when I was asked to swap it with another version, an i9100G, the whole OS is buggy. It's running android 2.3.4, but it doesn't seem to work well.
I guess this is the pre-build, not the final version.

Does NO ONE read?
Download the firmware you want to use in the area you are using the phone and flash via Odin, I mean come on how hard is that. I've had my S2 less than a week and have read through hundreds of threads, and it really gets under my skin that the moderators allow for the newbies to post senseless questions such as this and clog up the forum
Search in google a guide how to use Odin... It's very easy and in about 30 minutes you ll change your firmware

SGH-I747M from Telus

Ok, so yesterday i bought a SG3 from Telus(Im from New-Brunswick Canada, so its Telus or Bell)... but the thing is, its not a I9300, its a SGH-I747M.... so i was wondering, if anyone knows about the hardware? Is it similar to the i9300? can i use the i9300 roots/recovery/kernels etc? Thanks

Thanks for the reply, this is a nice guide, but i already rooted the phone, thing is, i want to use a custom rom, and there is no forums for the SGH-I747M or whatever, so im wondering if the I9300 roms/kernels work for it
Sorry not sure if this helps you, but there are other S3 forums.
I would think the telus/bell/rogers devices are more similar to the AT&T version, as it is also designated a similar model number SCH-I747.
Link to the other forums here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1667
According to www.pdadb.net your i747 is similar to AT&T's S3 http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=3602&c=samsung_sgh-i747_galaxy_s_iii_lte
BUT I would recommend you do a lot more research and ask the devs in that section before trying anything. As you will most probably end up messing your phone up in using something incompatible.

I would definitely not use anything meant for the i9300 on your device as it is not hardware compatible, different CPU (quad samsung vs dual qualcomm)

sir, questions are to be asked the in the Q & A sections.
Rooting questions with a simple search will bring you endless links in these threads, for both GB and ICS.

As stated above, questions belong in Q&A, NEVER in Development.
thanks for the info,I did have it in the wrong section and I have searched for two days now and all I see is forums and answers regarding the i717 and N7000 I was just curious about the new tmobile version
The t-mobile version is very close to the at&t and other North American carriers version but it has a slightly different radio and video chip.
You root it the exact same way as at&t except when you enter recovery its slightly different; using the charger cable is part of the steps.

HELP| Lock Problem

Hello guys,
Sorry if this thread were should be opened in another forum because I'm new here (from your grateful video - I'm noob).
Look, I have Samsung Galaxy SIII I9300, and I have a problem with the Lock.
After that last update that Samsung released to the devices, I've installed it but after that when I tried to lock my device (click on the right side button to lock) after couple of minutes or random time the screen is unlocked by him selves, and locked back after couple of seconds and thats happening a lot of times.
I've tried to turn off all the settings like the movement sensors, voice sensor everything I could think about, even I read that if I pull off my SIM card it may solve my prolem and the problem is with the SIM or something but I tried that and I still had the problem.
Maybe you guys can help me or you know how to fix that or maybe you had this problem in the past?
In Thursday I will give my device to the store I bought the device from.
-----------------------------------
Another question, I've saw many forums abiot the device "Samsung Galaxy S3" but its the same device no? why there is like 5 forums abot this device? with the names: "Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T" and etc ?
What are those devices?
Thanks in advance for any help, please it is very important to me!
Not completely sure about your 1st main question but to answer your second question, the reason why there are other Galaxy S3 forums is because this is the International Galaxy S3 for example UK and europe. Verison and AT&T and Spirit and others are the different versions within America. Each has a different name. For example the International UK version are mainly GT-I9300 where as Spirit is SPH-L710. It makes all the difference when downloading the correct roms. Because if you downloaded a rom made for the SPH-L710 Spirit Galaxy S3 and flashed it to the International GT-I9300 then you could completely brick your device and would have one really expensive door stop or paper weight.
Hope this helped.
