Motocast/Zumocast on a router/server? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good day all,
I'm running new RazrMaxx, rooted, Eclipse and Zumocast. It works like no one's business. Wow.
I'm not keen to leaving my home computer on all the time though. So, what I would like to do, is set up a terabite drive on my Belkin 750N router, as a server drive. And have THAT drive be visible to Zumocast.
Does anyone know if this is possible? Or how to do this?

Details to USB Host Mode?

I know the Titan doesn't support USB Host mode, but I've heard there were alternatives like using CF Cards or something. Can anyone give me more details or point me in the direction of how to achieve this? Instead of buying a microSD card, I wouldn't mind just using one of my external HD to hold my stuff. It would be cool to read data off of flashdrives too.
I've never heard mention of any possibilities of USB host on the mogul. If someone does make a USB host CF card (never heard of one), I don't think you're going to find any way to interface it with the mogul. And the mogul probably wouldn't be able to power an external hdd, so you'd have to have a power supply and be tethered to the wall. At that point, you might as well carry a laptop around and store things on it, and just forget about USB host on the mogul.
If I had to guess I think you would see a Bluetooth harddrive before you saw anything like that.

That is already on the way...

theoretically it could be done with MicroSDIO, but i dont know if the mogul supports SDIO
plus i doubt anyone will make a USB controller in an MicroSDIO card, lol
wow that bluetooth harddrive looks promising, but the speed must suck :/. yea using a laptop would work, but its still too big and uses a lot more power. i had this idea, run mobiletorrent on the phone attached to a harddrive. it would use less power and its still smaller than a laptop.
How much storeage do you need?
I looked at the bluetooth drive also and it looks cool, and probably slow since i think bluetooth is ~700kbps, sort of like the speed you get beaming from one to another with bluetooth, which I do to and from my laptop now and it is kind of creepy slow. If you need more than the 8gigs that a microSD can do for now then that might be the way,,,,,,wait,,,,I remember seeing a shared WiFi drive some place, that would be lots faster i bet.

how do i let others use my ICS?

so i love internet connection sharing, but i was wondering if theres a way for me to share my connection with other computers.
basically, i have my phone sharing internet via bluetooth to my laptop, and want to share the internet, preferably over wifi to someone else with a laptop.
how would i do this?
thanks

Any way to encrypt signal (even really simply)?
I know when I go to this convention next week all the bored people are going to steal my bandwidth (VZW dialup is not fast enough for anyone but me).
I am pretty sure there was a way to configure WEP, tho I have only gotten WMWifiRouter to work one time. And it was because there were no other AP's in the area. For some reason if I am in an area where there is an AP but it's secured, my phone keeps prompting me to connect to it, and if I dismiss the message, it never properly initializes where any other device can connect to it.
No errors show up on the screen, it just doesn't show up as an available wireless AdHoc network. I've tried running the latest trial version, and the version that is in DCD's kitchen, same problem on both.
Maybe I'm just not smart enough to figure it out, or maybe my brother's PDA and my Ipod just aren't compatible with it. I got it to work 1 time, and it was with my laptop.

thoughts?

Any running connected PS3 and Tbolt wirelessly?

Well I just moved and the comcast guy won't be here until Monday and I wouldn't mind watching some netflix on my TV instead of my computer. I searched and learned that ps3 will not detect an ad-hoc connection. I then learned of a few apps that people were having luck with, but unfortunately they wouldn't run on my phone.
I would like to get this done wirelessly as I don't feel like buying any ethernet cables. So if anyone has done this with a thunderbolt and a PS3 please let me know.
I am running BAMF 3.0 and the MR2 Radio
Much obliged,
Andrew
I did it using a router flashed with DDWRT firmware. Set the router as a client and then wire a connection to the PS3.
Yeah all I really have to work with is the Thunderbolt, PS3, and a Macbook

This worked for me. I do understand that you have a Mac, so I can't really help you there. If you do get access to a PC though, try to this out. Worked perfect for me. You do have to understand though, this is really just for emulators. The app registers the controller as a keyboard and then you can remap the keys in the emulator according to the controller. The application for the PC re configures the bluetooth address of the controller to match your phones bluetooth. If you can somehow do that from your mac, you should be golden

Some questions about Webtop...Please bear with me, I'm special ED

Hi All, hope all is well !
I was wondering what the best alternative would be to be able to log into my PC computer at home, while on the road?
Some current background: I am traveling to Singapore in Feb. for work.. and I'd like to be able to access my personal stuff on the go (If at all possible)..
What would be the best alternative for that? I am currently running Windows 7 Premium 32 bit, with the homebase rom, and 236 webtop.
Ideally, I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to be able to have more of a real, computer like environment.. rather then the limited way it is now. I currently have Webtop2sd installed.. and Im not sure where else to go next ...

Micro USB to HDMI cable ?

I've been toying with the idea of getting a micro USB cable with the other end being an HDMI to connect to my computer monitor or TV for easy plug and play. I see there are several versions of cables. Some have 2 ends (Micro/HDMI), while others have 3 ends (Micro/USB/HDMI). I presume the 3 end with the USB is for charging.
Does anyone currently use one for the Nexus 6 that is working that they recommend ? Does it matter if I buy one without the USB end ? Thanks
Sadly, the Nexus 6 does not support HDMI out. Those cables you've come across are for other devices.
To answer your question: often, the ones with three ends need to be plugged into a USB charger to work because there is circuitry requiring power inside the cable - in my experience, these cables do not charge the phone despite requiring the power brick.

Thanks for the info. I noticed they worked for other phones, but I didn't see any on the Nexus 6 so that's why I was curious

The way people get around it is using a chromecast. If you feel it's worth the investment you could do that.

I'm really not completely clear on that. From my understanding it needs to at least be connected to a hotspot off your phone but, I am unsure if it requires internet. I don't personally own one so I'm not sure, sorry man.
You can hotspot from your cell but it eats up data pretty good and you can't hotspot and stream at the same time so you'd have to have 2 devices one to hotspot an one to stream but it works keeping in mind it won't be the fastest most reliable.... But in my opinion a chromecast is a pretty good investment....
vysors my personal favorite

This doesn't sound right...
If he has no access to internet, and wants to stream from his phone to his chromecast he is likely wanting to stream local data to it, and that shouldn't use any data from his cell plan as it would basically be local connection just using the phones access point instead of having a router in between.
You can definitely run a hot spot and network with devices connected to it locally. You can run hotspot and turn off your data to just create a local network.
Not sure why you are saying he would need two devices? Not sure why you would say it would eat any more data, it wouldn't use any more data to cast netflix to his monitor then it would to stream netflix in the first place on his phone?

Pretty sure he means if you want to use primary phone as hotspot, you need a second device to do the casting. As far as data connection, I'm reasonably certain that chromecast uses desktop style data, not mobile data. Meaning, it uses more data then directly on the phone, as the phone becomes a remote, not the actual device that does the streaming.
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for the info everyone. I'm going to pick up a chromecast however I will just have to make sure when I use it I have a WiFi connection as well. I wasn't sure if you could only use the phone as a Hotspot and that's it
I'm pretty sure you can... The cromecast stuff just looks for a Chromecast on your local network, I'm not sure why people think your phone wouldn't be on its own network.
Never tried it with a Chromecast, but I have ran other local network stuff by attaching to my phones hotspot.
Give it a try when you get it and post back here to let us know, because I don't think any of us ACTUALLY know, but I am almost positive it will work.
I have a chromecast but I've never gotten it working without connecting to a seperate wifi source (not my phone's hotspot) but it could very well be possible.
I do want to comment that with the chromecast being wireless, some people might experience some lag. My solution this was to buy a wired adapter for the chromecast in addition to a micro usb to ethernet that worked with my phone. Both ethernet cables hook into my router and I can effectively mirror my device wired. Obviously there is probably still some lag, but is now below the threshold that I can perceive.
I have tried this you either need two devices or WiFi.

For some reason it will not recognize the phone as a local network or router
