I have the little flip case right now, but it doesn't provide much protection. What would be a good flip case for my note?

Somebody else posted this in the other flip case thread, might be of interest to you. The front of the flip cover seems to be exactly the same, but the back of it is an actual case that will protect your Note more.

I don't think that one will fit the AT&T version. Someone else might have to verify that, but it says it's made for the International version.

I bet it does fit, as im pretty sure the discrepancy in size was probably an error in either measurement or conversion between metric and standard units. Every case people have bought for an international note so far has fit the at&t one, even the zenus capsule case, which is hard plastic.
The only things that do not work are replacement battery covers due to the difference in the location of the tabs, which what i linked to is not a battery cover.

I ordered one in red as soon as it gets here (which may be a while) I will verify if it fits the American version
just an update im still waiting in this case It has been over 4 weeks now and still no case
Finally got the case it does fit the American version
I've got this one on the way, http://kevikev.com/Yoobao-Executive-Leather-Case-Folio-for-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-LCSamNoteE.htm. I know someone that got it and he really likes it.
I ordered this one... hopefully I will like it.

I ordered this one, and while it's a bit expensive, it looks, feels, and is really nice.

I got my wife the tridea case from ebay, its pretty nice and offers better protection than most flip cases around the sides.
I got this case on amazon. Its the Khomo Executive flip case and I can honestly say that it's by far the worst case that you could spend (little) money on. it offers almost no protection aside from the soft felt stickers on the inside. its made from really cheap hard plastic and only snaps around the edges. after putting the phone in it the for the first time, i set it on a white painted bookshelf. it immediately took white paint transfer barely sliding it across the shelf. Im sure if i left phone in there much longer it would have transferred black scratches to my white Note. It barely closes shut and front flip overlaps the edges too far. Worst of all in the design of this is that it covers the volume key. One drop in this case would probably crack the plastic edges and break the phone. Ultimate fail case!!!

Was that meant to be helpful? There isn't always a correlation between price and quality. Most of us look for good quality at a good price.
I think the case looks nice. It's a shame it is so cheap and unuseful.

That's exactly what I was going for...good quality for a good price. It looked like what I wanted. And that would be a slim tough flip case that could handle a drop or fall and protect my phone. Sadly, this wasn't it, I'll keep trying to find it. I've got a quality case which is my daily but would like a flip style w/o the bulk.

looks nice! Executive and slim?
I know leather would be more scratch resistant but I've always felt the otterbox plastic/rubber was more drop proof!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
Yeah. The Executive is all leather. Gives good protection but not as stiff.
The Slim has a hard shell and leather overlay. Better protection but more stiff. The Otterbox is excellent protection but more bulk. Depends on what you are looking for.

Exactly! otterbox should make a flipcase. And a slim one at that. Let us know what you think of these. I might have to forgo plastic for leather. If the slim leather fits well with nice corner protection, I'll be buying next.

Ok, so i've see a lot of great threads on cases and some really good reviews too and now my OCD is starting to kick in.
Which case is the best? I'm looking for something durable, light, and thin. Preferably TPU or some sort of soft and flexible material NOT silicone.
Pretty much i'm looking for the same case as what i had on my captivate, the mirage by bodyglove.
I've got a few different cases that i'm trying to decide between but i'm having a problem making the final decision.
I'm asking YOU, fellow SGS2-ers, to help me decide. Place your vote and leave a note (hey that rhymes!) and i will be sure to post a detailed review of the case if one hasn't been made already (or contribute to one that already exists)!
Thanks!

And off we go!
Great roundup you've got there. I have the TPU-Case and love it, but hard to say it's the best without trying the others.
I would certainty recommend it though!
I've got the case mate barely there bushed aluminum and I really like it. I didn't think I would but I'm so. It's nice and thin and covers the phone well. It adds a little weight but to me it actually makes the phone feel better.

mine already broke by the volume rocker and the aluminum dents REALLY easily, its a very nice case though
I have this Incipio case:
http://www.myincipio.com/Samsung-Ga...-II-ATandT-NGP-Semi-Rigid-Soft-Shell-Case.asp
It is very nice quality, and fits perfectly. It does however have an small cutout for the international version's lanyard. It is really small though, so not too big of a problem. Some of the ones I have seen have the whole corner cutout for the international version (Ringke cases had this problem, which is why I did not choose that one). That seems like a huge problem to me, since if you drop it, the entire corner is exposed.
Hope this helps
I also have the Incipio and while it fits great (I did modify it to make a hole for the NC Mic), I'm not liking the extra effort required to turn the phone on or off. That action is already difficult enough with no case, but it's made even more difficult with the NGP.
Thanks for bringing to light this Incipio case. I just bought it. It looks like they fixed the problem with covered NC microphone. Now the cutout for it looks huge to fit AT&T and International version. Maybe they improved power button as well.

Thanks for linking that case, i haven't seen that one yet. I'll take a closer look at it and see if i can find a detailed review.
A quick google search led me to this good video review of the Incipio NGP (a TPU case). Looks to be a little dated though, the model they show on the Incipio webpage has a larger cutout for the NC mic and a color they didn't mention in the video. Still worth a look though.

I was heavily considering the Rearth Ringke but i read about some people having trouble with the case splitting apart on them due to small drops (see the Ringke thread here) and i decided to go with the SGP Ultra Capsule instead. I might also pick up the TPU-Case from Amazon just for the sake of having something to compare the SGP against.
I get super slow shipping so i'll put some pictures up in a week or so.
I just got a GS2 and trying to decide whether or not to get a case. Do you guys suggest getting one for added protection from drops?
EDIT: Ok, clearly a case is necessary, but which one? I have an Otterbox Commuter on my iPhone and dig the feel and durability. I see many complaints about SG2 cases not fitting or not having the right holes. Which is the best case in terms of fit, durability, and feel?
I definitely would. Protects from scratches, marks, and dust. I wouldnt count on it to protect from a normal drop though. I would suggest the Otterbox Commuter (make sure its the ATT i-777 version)
It's a $500+ phone you have. If you're ok with it breaking, then go without a case.
That's not saying it will break. There are plenty of stories about how well this phone does when dropped.
But it's the same reason people wear seat belts. 99% of the time they don't do much. But that 1% when you're in an accident, you're really happy you had it on.
It only takes one bad drop to ruin your phone. And screens for samsung devices are super expensive.

Are you sure that Otterbox makes a case for the AT&T version? I checked around and only found a Commuter for International version.
I have an Otterbox Commuter now for my iPhone and love it.

This is going to depend a lot on how you use your phone. I am using the casemate barely there which provides a moderate level of drop protection while maintaining the slim profile and light feel that I really love about the Galaxy phones. But when I need to travel for work I put on the Ballistic case which has huge rubber corners and feels indestructible which is nice when you are moving around a lot and adding a much greater risk of dropping your phone. The otterbox commuter is a decent case, my wife has one on her iPhone 4. It seems to be a nice middle road between something like the "barely there" and the Ballistic.
Did you drop your old phone a lot?

There is a balance between protection and bulk in cases
I don't want a case that inhibits the phone from venting heat. And I don't want one that is too bulky. I've tried a lot of different cases, and this is the one that I like best:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320771114659
Just don't drop it from too high above a floor that's too hard, and it should protect the phone OK. And at this price you can get a couple of them as spares, since they will crack occasionally.
The other thing about this case is the matte rubberized finish. Helps the phone to stay put in your pocket. It also makes the phone feel much more secure when holding it in your hand.
Here's a list of many of the available i777 cases:
http://www.traemcneely.com/2011/10/...i777-samsung-galaxy-s2-sii-cases-covers-sgs2/
The SGS ballistic case is way too big and the bumpers snag in your pocket. The case mate pop is great as long as you don't mind the shiny back scratching all to hell in two weeks. Also the grey plastic around the edge flakes off really easily. The commuter is smaller than both and likes to draw dust... The thin cases will never completely protect your phone. Always had otterbox, always will keep using otterbox.

TPU cases have a tendency to stretch if you take them on and off too much. I had one for about 2 weeks and it was already feeling loose and I was only taking it on/off about once a day.
And they attract lint like mad. The reason I was taking it off daily was to rinse it off.

35 bucks! Damn. Not any cheaper on Amazon. That's a bit too much for me.
Thanks guys for the tips. I ordered a couple cheap hard TPU cases like some recommended here to see how they are. Perhaps I'll need more protection and look into something else.
I didn't drop my old phone a lot, but I did once in a while drop it from my desk. I don't have insurance on my GS2 so I would like some protection in case it drops since the phone feels fairly fragile.
Can anyone recommend a middle of the line case between thin TPU cases and the Ballistic? I know Otterbox is along those lines but $35 is too much!

oh, also, the otterbox should come down in price soon, like the intl. GS2 version has.
I have the casemate barely there and the casemate and the casemate full version. Both work great and give flexibility.

The Case-Mate Pop! is the best I've found. It is a hard plastic case that is lined on the inside with rubber for shock absorption. It also has rubber inserts on the outside along each edge. Has a very solid feel with good grip. There is also a fold out stand but I don't really use it that often. Nice feature to have though.
It does add a little to the bulk of the phone but not as much as the Otterbox or other heavy duty cases. I found it a good compromise between size and protection. I think it's well worth it for something that fits perfectly and feels really good in the hand.
All of the holes line up perfectly on this case even it's categorized under the International SII. The noise canceling mike on top is included in the microphone cutaway. No noticeable difference in signal quality or phone call quality.
Sorry, tried to post a link but I'm too new. You can go to Case-Mate's website and look under the Samsung Cases, Samsung Galaxy SII, International version.
I have the Casemate Barely There Aluminum, SGP Linear, and some mesh one I got for $3 on ebay. Out of all of these I prefer the SGP Linear. It completely protects the phone, leaving no edges exposed, feels like quality, and keeps the slim profile of the phone. I had to make a little hole for the noise cancelling mic but that was easy.
As the tile asks.
Was going for the Neo Hybrid, but saw on YouTube videos that it adds a significant amount of bulk to the phone, also in dimensions, and it's not that sturdy anyway!
So I need a lightweight case, which will protect the phone, should have a decent amount of lip at front to protect the screen, and the case itself should not be fragile. I find it meaningless when a case requires not to be dropped. I am scared about dropping the phone, that's why I need a case at first place
I personally love UAG cases, but I don't like the hardcore industrialist look on them any more, I need something very simple yet elegant looking, like the Neo Hybrid.
Thanks.
Look at the UAG. Its pretty lightweight but may be more bulky than what you are looking for

Which one? Commuter or Defender?
They are the ultimate cases for protection, but then again they look very tough and rugged, which I won't like for the Note 3.
Right now the only option for me is to get a bumper, and in bumpers I can only have two, that Bear Motion one as suggested on previous page or some Amzer one, called Border Case or something, but I have no idea if that case has that cutout for the temperature sensor! Has anyone ever heard of this brand Amzer before? I certainly haven't! This is the case I am taking about,
http://www.amzer.co.in/Amzer-Border-Case-Black-P97313.htm
If that case doesn't have the cutout then my only option is to go for the Bear Motion one, but I don't think paying 2X price than what it's worth is reasonable by any means.
Lets see.

I've got the Commuter. It's a lot more elegant in reality than it looks in the pictures. (At least the black one is). But yes, it's a but bulky. It doubles the thickness if you count the rim on the front as well.
But if you want protection, something slim and sleek will not do much good. I've looked for those options, but they're all more for show than actual protection.
The diztronic tpu might be what you're looking for. Uag, spigen or especially otterbox are far from lightweight. I own the uag and I can drop the phone on any kind of surface without blinking, that case has serious protection. Otterbox is a tank, for construction people.
Yeah thanks guys.
@ShadowLea: Yeah I know that a bumper will not protect the device like an Otterbox would do or a UAG, but I am not looking for that much protection, just protecting the corners will do fine in my case, I think.
@lvnatic: Thanks. I know about UAG and Otterbox. I have used the Maverick on my S4 for a good four/five months, and it can protect the device in a lot of situations, but then I got tired of its look, too rugged, and that too when S4's backside was all glossy cheap type of plastic. For Note 3 and its backside material I can't think slapping a case on it, I just love touching that fake plastic It feels too good. If it were Note 2 or S4, I would not think a second before putting a case on it, because they felt that gross, to me.
Anyway, thanks all for the suggestions. For the time being I am going with a bumper, if I change my mind and consider a more protective case later then I will surely consider the suggested cases in this topic.
Does anybody know of a case that'll work with Samsung's wireless charging battery panel?

Figured that was the case (see what I did there ?)
I'll give it a try then, the looks are deceiving lol
What color you have? I'm stuck between slate and sliver
Just ordered one and I will try to keep everyone posted on how it works out. $5.95 hopefully this will work out for those of us that need a more rugged case! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E4RV8DS
Your URL doesn't work. I believe http://www.amazon.com/Google-Nexus-Case-Kickstand-Protective/dp/B00E4RV8DS is it?

There another OP for this case, it actually increased to 3x what it originally was. It was 1.99 a week ago.
I'm already using this case, it's amazing for $1.95
agreed i picked up this case on the 9th when it was for pennies. for the price it far exceeds in all areas. OP you will enjoy it for sure.
I bought this case when it was $1.95 on Amazon Prime, and I have to say, I actually feel more secure with the phone in a Spigen. The moko's "rubber" shell is too lose, and the plastic case is too thin and flimsy, much more thinner than a Seido Dilex or an Otterbox Commuter. I think I may just stick with a Neo Hybrid for now and just give away the Moko to someone on XDA.
Thanks for the info everyone

Totally agree with you. I got this case when it first became available. It has a really nice feel and looks great. However the tpu inner/outer shell is very flimsy, especially around the lip of the phone and has the look and feel as though debris could easily enter from the cutouts. The fitament on the phone in the case itself is just OK. The phone does not clip in, rather it slides in from the side making it awkward for some to quickly access. If your looking for something to put on your belt it works.

It isn't TPU, it is rubber...and the fit on my 32GB N6 is great...only complaint is that the holster doesn't have a locking clip. For a sub-$10USD rugged case you cannot do better. Heck Seidio and Platinum sell the same thing for $60USD for other phones.

The Seidio Dilex line of cases are more sturdy and rugged. And the Seido spring-loaded holsters make it quicker to release the phone off the belt. The Moko is a great sub-$10 case, but it cannot go up against a Seidio/Platinum case.

LOL....as an owner of a couple Seidio cases and a Platinum case...the Moko comes from exactly the same Chinese OEM and is made from exactly the same stuff (rubber/plastic). The only difference being Seidio has a metal kickstand.

The proof is in that Platinum, Seidio, and Moko have not sued one another for copyright or trademark infringement over the years. They're all that identical in design and quality.
We live in an age where people sue for using rounded corners.

Lol, you ain't lying about the lawsuits. I should be getting the i-blason case here in the next couple days, it was actually sub $10 when I scooped it up as well. Looks almost the same minus the holster and the design on the rubber, even the plastic outter clip looks identical. Don't get me wrong, the Moko isn't bad at all.. I'm just a bit ocd about the loose edges and small gaps near the cutouts. I feel like over a short period of time they'll get lose.

I may order one of the poetic revolution cases while they are still cheap. My moko should be her on 12/3
Ordered the orzly tempered glass screen protector a few minutes ago as well
OK the moko came in today and first impressions are really good! Not sure yet how it will hold up but the fit is great. All the buttons feel great! The case actually looks pretty good (granted looks are in the eye of the beholder as they say). The kickstand doesn't seem to bad. For a rugged case, its actually surprisingly slim which may make a lot of people happy.
Now for the bad as others have mentioned pulling the phone out of the holster causes the rubber part of the case to pull away from the phone. Not real bad but it does. The phone slides into the case but its a tight fit.
All in all I paid $5.95 + shipping on Amazon for this case and initial impression is for that price if you need a case it's a great buy. Just noticed the price is now $6.95 so if your looking for a decent cheap case I'd buy it before the price goes up. I'm going to use it until I find a satisfactory higher end case.
I did order a poetic revolution case as well and when it comes in I'll let you all know who it is.
I never should of used $50 of my credit for it. It looks like plastic and doesnt even hide camera bump. No protection. Lesson learned.

I have the leather case and think it's great. Mine extends past the camera bump so if you lay it down flat the camera's protected. Mine came from the EU but I can't imagine the U.S. version is any different. Mine looks leathery enough for what I paid. Different strokes.

umm idk what leather case your talking about because it cant be the same leather case i got because mines fits perfectly and feels good to hold like leather should.
I got the leather black case and I like it. It is not protecting well the camera i.e. ideally the case should stick out a tiny bit but is hiding the bump well. On the front it does better job. The feel is very good and leather.
I have the plastic rubbery blue case too and it protects better the camera module but may be a bit worse job in the front.
I got the OtterBox Defender Pro with Holster. $60 after 10 bucks off promo. Probably best protection out there. First day I got phone it was knocked off table at work and fell 3 feet to a concrete floor. Not a scratch, ding or crack. Even the case was perfect. Bet those leather cases Samsung sells won't save your phone under similar circumstances.
I got the leather case with my pre-order and immediately returned it. It was a plastic piece of crap! Didn't feel like leather at all! Felt like plastic with a leather pattern. Was super slippery and not what i was looking for at all! The even crappier thing is the case was $50 worth of credit, but when I returned it, they only gave me $15. WTF!!
While it's really a matter of personal opinion about these matters, my biggest gripe about the case (as with the Apple leather case) is the price. If it were a more reasonable $29, I'd say it's great. It's not really a protective case at all as these go. Black is the only one that will look good over time as the lighter colors will garnish a patina appearance that some may be OK with, like leather gloves as they break in.
This phone has a large, protruding camera bump unlike any other device and presents a challenge to design a case that can adequately protect it and not feel like a brick! Imagine if they made the entire phone thick enough to house (the camera hardware) and have the camera aperture window assembly perfectly flush? 8000mAh battery anyone?
Of course the "anti thicc" crowd would be quite vocal about it.
