I have been installing a few apps and now im questioning if I am going to have to install these apps again after I root this phone? Those of you that have rooted your phone, have you have to install your apps again?
Thanks!
No.
From your question it would appear you are new to rooting. It does not mess with the installed apps; it provides more access to the OS so you can do more.

Rooting will only give root access, but changing the kernel will force you to format your phone?

The apps will be deleted, but as soon as you re root they will be there.
Is there a way i can download the upgrade and Flash it with CWM?
All is clear, i'm just wondering.
I don't think so, not sure.
Make a back-up with titanium and it will stay on your internal sd.after the flash re-root with CF-Root.Download the free titanium app from the market and re-install all apps and data to phone and with market links then if you want download a kernel via the phone and flash via CWM
Hey buddies,

just over pc or mac! no other way trust me
Yep. Initial root requires a computer.
If you really need to root right now, download Odin and CF-Root on your phone and ask someone to borrow their computer or use a public computer. Move the files to the computer and root it in less than one minute and you're done!
i have a few questions maybe you guys can help... so here we go:
when you root with odin, it unlocks the phone giving you su right. does this also change your rom?
how is the launcher different than the rom? difference between flashing rom and kernal?
last one... when you install a custom rom, can you delete it if there are bugs to reinstall a different one or use the stock?

Why don't you just delete the files through ADB?
Remove the CWM app before you unroot then!

You can't. It's marked as a system app, which is why it's not removed when it's wiped. Easiest way is to re-root, then use Titanium Backup to remove it, then unroot.

Just to ensure I am not missing out on anything.
I have made use of root by doing the following :
- Backed up apps before flashing Rom with titanium backup.
- Freeze unwanted apps with titanium.
- Installed ad free to remove ads.
- Load custom roms and kernels etc ( I did this on my s2. not bothered on s3 yet as only had it a few days.
I think that's all I've done with root. What else have people done?

Nothing as root is a method of opening the OS to a lower level than standard .
If an app requires root privileges its used if not it isn't .

Yeah I understand that. What apps have you used or tweaks made with root?
Is there something about improving audio?

Try the app rom toolbox
Install custom rom and even try Google search
Press the "Thanks" button below if I've helped.
I plan to buy s3 but i have a question in mind. I dont like to install custom roms and only need to root the s3 in order to install Titanium Backup Pro.So if i root it and not install custom recovery and no other mod just superuser and titanium backup pro will i be able to get fota update. And also can i easily unroot it and go back to as it was before?
Don't root, BUY the games, get updates.
Cracked games are bad mkay?

Edited due to Op editing his post, which originally stated he wanted to know if this would affect his use of cracked games!

Using cf.root you can keep the phone as close to stock as possible and have root, you can still get official updates through KIES but OTA downloaded updates seem to be giving ppl problems.
To slaphead20 and burden010 just cause the guy doesnt want custom roms doesnt mean hes cracking games or doing anything illegal. I only rooted my stock rom so I could fully use titanium backup and mybackup pro, plus custom roms arent that far from stock at the moment anyway so give the guy a break.
edit :- I see OP has edited his post maybe he did announce he was doing something wrong.

Thanks and im very sorry people. Will surely read the rules before posting.
If you have only a rooted stock Rom then you should be fine for receiving ota updates. Worst that might happen is you will loose root.
