Why do some apps not show up in the Android market on the Archos 101? For example, I use an app called My Backup Pro...it doesn't show up. I searched for Lookout Mobile...it doesn't show...neither does Norton Mobile Security. I searched around but didn't find an answer to this. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
caseym
not all apps will show up... from my understanding, protected apps do not appear. i myself have been looking for a few, and had to resort to side loading them.

Thanks!

3- clear the cache of the google framework service

Paid Apps Outside US?
I installed v5-final and have done the market fix several times but I only get free apps - NO paid ones. The catch is that I am located in Costa Rica - could someone comfirm that paid apps are only available in North America/Europe. If ALL (free and paid) apps are available everywhere then I have to figure out my problem, if not, I will just buy apps like crazy when I am back in the states (unless someone knows a work-around). Thanks.
I just tried the same thing and now my market app doesn't work. Any suggestions. Thanks
Just fixed it

Titanium backup in use?
i need to ask everyone with this issue, is everyone having this issue using titanium backup, and only seems to have problems after pulling from titanium's backup?
ill give my reasoning for this question...if you are having an issue, with certain apps just vanishing from the market on your phone.... even if you know its installed....
have a look at the list of questionable apps in TB, is there a yellow ball, with NO "M" overlaying it.... this may be the issue... you may have to delete all backup s for said app that DO NOT have a "M" ...wipe that apps data (in TB) and trying to restore from a backup that DOES have the "M"
please check this out, and let me know if i figured this out right... i have spent way too long pulling my hair out over this...and it seems like this was a fix for me...so far... ill edit in a few days if it all holds out
additional, if you are getting an "app incompatible" in the market... and have changed your LCD density , you will have to change it back to its default (240 for the DX) the new market seems to check for that.. and must label the device as unusable with the app, even if you KNOW its working just fine... i hope the market gets fixed to tolerate this...but im sure its part of the NEW market compatibility check
Hi Migamix,
If you have backups that don't contain a Market link, no need to delete them because they won't interfere - as long as you restore the one that has the link, of course.
When batch restoring it's a bit different, the latest backup for the chosen platform is picked, so you have to ensure that that one has a Market link.
But in any case, if you have the PRO version you can long-click and force attach it to to Market afterwards.

the force to market did not work for me, at all...many times, many tries.. some days im on a rom flashing fest...and some of those times ive done a batch restore and had only 20 apps in my market list.. its odd but it seems the only time it worked for me was after having the market attached "M" notification on all the files i wanted...i looked at this issue after letting the market auto restore post rom install, and manually pushed a few more that were causing problems...but i saw how 80% of the apps i restored (data only) refused to keep a link to the market... poked around.... uninstalled a problem app... noticed one of my older backups had an "M" while the rest didn't...so, i used that backup, and moments later that app was available in the market, and had an update... so i went and did it with a few more.... all those apps i managed to get installed in this fashion...still after 3 days, have not dropped their market links...where as...sometimes after a force market linking...would only last an hour if at all
i wanted to post this because i saw how many others were having the exact issue...i wanted to see if there is something in the way TB communicates with the data of the market ...causing market link confusion...
it seems like there needs to be a little more work with the market tools in TB....
ps, there also a setting i messed with that changed the way TB was getting market links... i think it was turning off accurate market check...
hopefully this post doesn't require too much re-reading....im a bit of a bad multitask'r sometimes
I'm using a stock, unrooted Photon. Yesterday I opened the Market, it closed quickly, and refused to restart. Nothing happened when I selected the icon.
Same issue this morning, so I decided to reboot, and now my Market icon has disappeared, replaced by an icon that looks like a settings icon.
Selecting edit on that icon, it still refers to the Market. When I list my apps, Market is not present.
So now I don't know how to access (or update) my Market app.
Any guidance is appreciated.

I don't have your device, but with the timing I'd suggest that it might be related to Google Play. Play's Google's new market, there are a few of them... Play Music, Play Books, etc etc etc
Try installing Play from the web interface.

AHA!
Play Market was in my Apps list, problem solved. Thanks for the tip!
A better notification from Google regarding this would have been helpful.
Yes, google would have been wise to pop up a notification when they changed the market. My girlfriend texted me in a panic thinking she broke something because market was missing.

The above posts both provide a workaround/partial solution. Here is my suggestion...
If you choose to try Old Market, when you launch it you can choose "old" or "new" market. It requires root permissions to work. After selecting which Market you would like, it will reboot the device and, once it is booted, the market you chose will be installed. Take note that I did in fact still see some free apps that weren't installed, but not all of them. Perhaps they were only the apps that were downloaded to this specific device/ROM.
That said, the "old" Market is indeed the very old V2 Market. I went back to "new" Market (V3), and it upgraded itself back to Google Play after a little while.
Unless you truly like the old interface of the Market, I'd recommend you go with CosmicDan's suggestion of logging in to Google Wallet and viewing your transaction history. This will give you a list of only the apps you have purchased. Unfortunately you can not install them to your device from there, but at least you can see only the apps you have purchased without seeing every app you have ever downloaded.

Is there a way to view only one's purchased apps in the new Play Store? The new interface for the My Apps section does not seem to have a way to do this like it used to, instead showing seemingly every app one has ever downloaded, with purchased apps mixed in (in no logical order).

Big time bump on this! They really do need to add a tab that shows purchased not just installed and history.
Just ran across this. Hope there is a fix in the works. Not being able to sort the apps is a major FAIL.
I let my son have my old droid and he went crazy downloading what looks like every free app offered....my mistake for not creating a junk gmail account. Now I have literally hundreds and hundreds of apps listed in my app section of the play store.
Bump, I would like to know also
It appears that even the app management section of the Google Play website doesn't have this capability. On the positive side, the site looks great! -_-
This is just wrong, when you've bought allot of apps and downloaded plenty of free apps.
There's got to be an easier way to see what you've bought and redownload!
Someone got a clue?

This is such a fkn annoying issue. BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The other thing is there should be a tab to multi select app installs so you aren't directed to the install screen and forced to start from the beginning of the main screen after you go back. If that is not an option at least add the ability to install "ALL" paid apps.
Why in the hell would we not get the option to see purchased apps only but we get the option to see "ALL" downloaded apps paid or unpaid. That's just fkn ridiculous
P.S. To anyone that is going to tell me to roll back or move previous apk versions to system/app or even use an app to do it for you and blah blah blah. I have tried everything.
The closest I got was using the apk I will attach for everyone here. Be sure to unzip it and move the file to your phone and use a file explorer to install it.

so I should be able to choose which market I want to use on the fly when I install this apk?
This has got to be one of google's biggest recent FAILS.
It's been like this for over a month now, and what seems like a very simple and basic fix hasn't even arrived yet. Do you all think they are even aware of this being an issue for us?

Not likely any time soon in my opinion. I'm quite positive that they knowingly made the decision to change (read remove) the list of only paid apps in the Play Store, in an effort to "improve" the app. Unfortunately.
.— Powered by Nexus —.
Another Google Fail just like the crappy resolution contact pictures that they refuse to fix. Thanks google for making have to make duplicate phone contacts and link everything. Also thank you for getting rid of showing only the paid apps.
Google has always been a piece of.. garbage, but as of late, they have just been, a piece of... junk..
Well, I do not think Google forgot to have that view. From their point of view it absolutely makes sense:
If you forget about an app you bought some day, you might end up buying another one, providing the same functionality later. And that is where they get money from, not you re-installing an already bought app.
It does not go too well with the "don't be evil" motto, but this was clearly a deliberate choice by Google.

The r2 works fine for me. I've put it to /system/app … I had to delete the app data to make it run again after a reboot, though.
Anyone else run into this? TuneIn was preinstalled but not in my app drawer. If I searched for it the Play Store, it showed that it was already installed and I could click the launch button from there, and the program launched.
I looked it up in the application manager and uninstalled it figuring a fresh install might work. Still didn't show up in the app drawer. Now, the Play Store shows no buttons at all (no install/launch/uninstall/etc) if I pull up TuneIn. If I use the web store to push it to my phone, the install fails, stating that it is already installed.
Thoughts?

Had that happen on my OG Evolution with TuneIn. I think I had to use Root Explorer to remove the app and a library file associated with the app but it was a while ago. Definitely the same issue though.
Did you transfer your SD card over and maybe you had the app on the card or in an sd-ext dalvik cache? Seems weird THAT app was preinstalled seeing as Sprint has its own bloatware for internet radio.

Tunein is definitely preinstalled. On the way home from Best Buy last night, I was playing around with car mode and it is the default tile for Internet Radio.
Also, same issue here with it not being in my app drawer. Only hint of tunein being installed outside of car mode is having the widget.
Weird. Maybe it is a similar but unrelated issue to what I had back then. Drove me nuts that I couldn't get it reinstalled for months though which is why I remember.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. It does show up in the car dock app for me, searches work but streaming doesn't start since its uninstalled.
neither TuneIn Radio nor Polaris Office show up on my app drawer
Tunein didn't show up for me until I installed a diffrent launcher.
Alright... I fixed my problem and as a plus now it shows up in the app drawer. Went to my OG EVO, found the apk, threw it in Dropbox and installed it on my new EVO from there. All is well. Hopefully this helps someone else.
another issue that I hope gets a solution is how to replace the normal TuneIn with TuneIn Pro, for example when in car mode, instead of having two different versions installed

I have the exact issue and did the same thing as you in uninstalling TuneIn and now I cannot open or installed the app. So after reading this thread, I went to the Car app to access TuneIn but it won't stream anything. Then I went into the app settings and disabled the car app and tried to download TuneIn with the same results of it saying it is already installed. Now the Car app has disappeared and I can't find it on the phone in order to enable it. Uggg. I went to the HTC Hub to try and find the car app but can't find it there. Unfortunately, I traded in my OG EVO so cannot try to use the drop box as you did. Man now I'm totally screwed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Tunein for some reason does Not show in the app drawer. But if you add the widget you can access the sign in page after opening the app through it. I also would love to replace it with pro, haven't figured that out yet.

I dont know if you guys are aware but Tune In is located in your app drawer under the red "Music" icon
I ended up doing a Factory Data Reset even though I had spent all day setting up and learning the phone. I just couldn't figure out how to get the Car widget enabled or fix the Tune In Radio issue. FDR fixed both issues and resetting up the phone didn't take very long the second time. I also added a TIR widget to one of my screens so I don't have to access the Car widget to use it. All is well but wish I knew TIR was included on the phone.

At the risk of appearing horribly dense (it wouldn't be the first time) I'm still not seeing it. I've opened the Music icon (a red music note) and all I get is a My Phone button and a SoundHound button and the music play controls.
BTW - I purchased (and returned, after finding it didn't work with the Car app) the Pro version. Left a 'love' note with Tunein support, never heard back from them.
Thanks in advance. If all else fails I guess I can wait around until they push an update.

Hi!
I uninstalled play store accidentally and then reinstalled it from an apk. The problem is that there is no icon on any of the desktops and there is no drawer in MiUI so I can't find a way to re-enstate the icon/shortcut. Can you tell me what to do? I have 4X but I didn't find the device on the forum so I posted on 4, I guess it's practically the same as far as software is concerned.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I restarted phone and the icon appeared. don't bother
