Ubuntu usb connection
I tried to connect my XPS to Ubuntu via USB for about 3 hours now. One thing that i learned, is that MTP and Linux is a very bad combination that should be avoided.
So is there a way to install the MSC transfer protocol to a rooted XPS? That would make everything alot easyer.

I was reading the review of Desire S at GSMArena, didn't know it can support Internet Pass-through natively,
When you plug in the microUSB cable you’re presented with a long list of options - Charge only, Disk drive (mass storage), HTC Sync, USB tethering (use the phone as a modem) and Internet pass-through (the phone uses the computers Internet connection).

Can't find Internet Pass-through on ICS anywhere can you navigate me to it if it even exists? I don't have WiFi at home, so it's really important to me

Can we access internal storage? And if so how? Can we add/delete files?
Yea. Doesn't give option to storage when USB connects. Was just asking the same thing.

Select "Media Sync" - It uses MTP and the device will show up as a separate drive in Windows Explorer.

I have the SDK on all my machines at home and work just so I can do stuff via ADB. I'm not a developer or anything, just comfortable with cl interface from the old DOS days. It didn't occur to me but that could be why MTP works on my Win7 box. I honestly don't know enough to answer that.
Whenever I connect my device to PC it is not recognized and I have to try like 50 times with different USB ports on my PC so that it gets connected. Please help me with this problem
Not connected as in, you cant access the storage or PC Companion wont recognize the phone ?
Check the cord with another phone

Yea thats the exact problem..... the storage is shown but when i try to copy something it just dont respond...... where as in pc companion it just take forever to just recognize.....

I was going to say that because of the Custom rom, PC Companion wont detect it.. But if copying doesnt work, not sure.. Try flashing a Stock FTF and see if there's any difference. Small possibility only of it being related to rom, but why risk it ?
When with stock also had the same problem............ changed the USB cable also......... but now use.............

Hi guys. My LG G5 just stopped working few days ago. When i turn it on the half of the screen is black. I went to the nearest service and they said they cant fix it.
The problem is that I have some photos in internal storage and I would like to transfer them . Does anyone know any way to transfer photos?
P.S. Do you have any idea is it motherboard or display ?

Hi
Lgg4 and lgg5 have haf significant issues with display screen...half snowy other side fine or half black etc. Its a known issue.
With out display interface Im not certain if usb file transfer will work to your pc but try it. If you can access phone storage through pc perhaps you have a chance.
Im heding the screen may not display all but when you hook your power cord between phone and pc an automatic prompt will rise on your phone. Usually it defaults to charging only selection. Hit screen half way down even though it cant fully be seen to hopefully activate file transfer mode. Its possible touch works on svreen side displaying.
Or if ur lucky itll be default.
Worth a try.
I am guessing you dont have cloud storage and you didnt back up photos to scard so usb link is perhaps your only shot.
Good luck.
have you tried with adb pull command ?

I cant enable usb debuggin :<
can you insert a wired mouse through the usb? it should work with otg
Hello, I am looking for help from experts and I hope you will be able to help me.
My phone has fallen and the display is not responding at all. When I turn it on, the phone vibrates and charges (the computer detects it), but the screen is all black. Having a black screen, I cannot enter the unlock code and switch it to mass storage mode.
What I have to do is recover documents, photos and contacts from this phone, but I cannot do it via my computer.
My question is, is it possible to force the computer into mass storage mode on the phone with some probgram.
Do you know any way to recover data?
I will add that I do not want to replace the screen because it is too expensive for me.
Thanks a lot for any help.
@Whitehawk1983
If phone can successfully get accessed via ADB you can pull out all desired data files to your Windows PC.
Of course in your phone USB debugging must got enabled previously

This is where the problem is that I don't have USB debugging enabled.
Of course, I will try your method and will be happy to share my thoughts.
Or maybe an idea of using recovery? I already lack ideas, when I come back from work I will see what I can get from ADB.
Unfortunately, I don't have debugging on my phone and ADB doesn't work: /
Do you have any other ideas? Maybe with the use of Odin?
No.
BTW: ODIN is Samsung's user-friendly implementation of Fastboot.
