How to transfer the apps that I downloaded to the external sd card to save the internal storage space. Don't seem to find such function in Setting.
Thanks in advance for the advice.
Go to setting / application and choose the application to move to the sdcard, them press the button "move to sd card"
Please bearing in mind that not all applications run in sd card

That button will kind of work, but not in the way you would think. What that will do is transfer the application out of Android's dedicated App Storage space and into the normal internal SD card storage. There is no way to install apps to an external SD without rooting and re-mounting your external SD to a location (/mnt/sdcard/Android/Data from memory) through Terminal or a script.

i'm looking for this answer too.
i feel safer keeping it in the internal USB rather than the external SD card,
the external sd card might get corrupted, or accidently disconnected in a small drop or thud.
i've read other threads in this forum, and google "move apps to internal usb instead of external sd" it leads me to other forum where there is no clearn answer.
so far these are the few that i've tried. remove external sd, and try to move apps to sd (hoping it will move to internal usb in the absence of the external sd), but fail. tried with rom toolbox with external sd remove, but still fail to move to internal usb.
so jje, when you say try searching, question been ask many times.
do you mean there is NOOO way it is possible to move apps to internal USB?
is this a conspiracy to force us to buy external SD card?
On further investigation, my post appears to be incorrect.
Hello oinkylicious,
thank you for your reply.
but i'm sorry to let you know you are mistaken.
the
Settings --> Applications --> Manage applications --> On SD card, tick boxes.
"SD card" refers to the EXTERNAL SD CARD.
i tried moving several big apps(>100MB in total), checking the task manager, shows that system storage reduced, and SD card increased. while USB storage did not change at all.
Is there any way to install apps on external sd instead of the intrenal 16 gb memory ?
Thanks in advance !
YES! After you install the app go to Settings>Applications>Manage>X Application> Scroll Down> Then move to SD card.

swapping over in applications just moves the app to sd memory of gs2 -the 11.5gb on 16gb models but doesn't move the app to External sd. if somebody can explain how to move apps to external sd CARD that would be great. funny, some people say when they transfer apps in settings- applications to SD card , they do move to External sd card (ie 32gb card). can't work it out why they move to phones internal sd card -by that i mean they stay in the phones memory....can you help?

Hello
I have a galaxy s2 and i wonder what is the difference between internal storage and internal SD card.
In the internal storage i see only apps are installed
and in the internal SD card i have only music photos and others.
it already happened to me that i tried to download an app from the google play and i did not have enough space
is there a way to move my apps from Internal storage to Internal SD card?
(i do not have an external sd card) and if you dont understand what i mean i can upload a screenshot.
thank you
Hello,
Yes, internal storage (or system storage in my phone) is where all the apps are installed.
And internal SD card (known better as internal storage) is where photos, videos etc etc are stored.
This is the only thing i know..
About the moving of apps, i recommend you go to settings -> applications and to the app you want to move and check if you actually can move it. (yes, there's an option to move that app to Sd card) My gues it wont since you need an external storage (or known as SD CARD) if you want to move apps.
If you can't install apps from google play, there are mostly two explanations:
1. Actually insufficient storage. To prevent this, free up memory from system storage by deleting apps/games etc.
2. .odex file causes the erroe. To prevent this, (you need to be rooted) goto /data/app in file manager and find <The app you want to install from google play>.odex
Eg. for second alternative.
If you want to install Swiftkey but get an error. Goto /data/app and delete swiftkey.odex
Internal storage, different names

There the same thing. You can verify by checking the size of the two & the contents to see if they show the same thing.
It would be helpful to know what version of Android your running since this affects how things are displayed.
To find that information open press the menu or home button (bottom left),
Settings
at the very bottom is "About Device"
Look for Android Version
Within most versions of Android (I have 4.1.2 in front of me) what is called "sdcard" or "internal storage" or "internal sdcard" is actually a partition of the device's total internal storage. Unless you are flashing ROMs or running root, you won't see these other paritions.
The internal storage or sdcard is also called sdcard0 or /storage/sdcard0 depending on your version of Android.
The physical sdcard (external storage) is sometimes called /emmc or /extSdCard In later versions you can also get to it as /storage/sdcard1
Hope that helps
Ed
i am running android 4.0.4
and i understand that i cant move apps to there..
i will just buy an external SD card
you helped me alot
Thanks everybody!!
Somebody plz let me know any workaround for moving apps to Internal USB storage. Under settings>application manager> there is an option to move apps to external sd card only. Is it possible to install/move apps to internal usb storage (around 11.5 GB). Please help.
Phone - Galaxy s2 (At&t sgh i777)
ROM - Shostock3 rom (android 4.1.2)

I can only think of using a usb cable and manually storing in Internal SD Card.
Is it possible to partition the internal usb storage so as to use it as an external sd card ? Or can we change the default installation location of apps to Internal usb storage.
Please note that I am not using an external sd card. So i would like to move/install apps to internal usb storage. I have also read that many android phones have this option "Move to usb storage" under application manager.

Try taking out the data from the sd card, removing the sd card from the phone, and moving that data to the Internal SD Card. I don't think Shostock3 has that option.
I have all my apps and data installed in internal storage (i.e. 2 GB storage). But unable to move them to usb storage. I haven't mounted any external sd card. The storage is as follows :
Internal storage - 2 gb which is almost full because of apps
USB storage - 11 GB of which 9 GB
is occupied with audio, video and other files.
I seek to use this free space of usb storage for installing apps.
Try the app Move2SD.

None of the apps allow moving of apps to usb storage. They could only move them to external sdcard.

I found the solution for you. Try going into applications, click the app you wanna move, and click Move to SD Card. If it moves to the external card, remove that then try. It works for me.
Without external sd card mounted, when i click move to sd card; it says "not enough storage space". But with external sd card mounted, I am able to move apps only to external sd card and not usb storage.

That's imo going to be your best bet. Just manually move your apps to your usb storage through your pc.
Also, if you have ES file explorer, have you tried to use it to move your files to the usb storage?
Thanks for your replies. I have mounted an external sd card and using link2sd to move apps to it. One thing I noticed that with sd card mounted, when I move apps to external sd card, some part of the app moves to the usb storage and also the app size increases after doing so. However, still there is no direct way of moving/installing apps to usb storage without an external sd card.

free up storage space
A simple way to free up storage space is by deleting all the log files in the device memory. Just dial *#9900# on your phone and select option 2 “Delete dumpstate/logcat” in the prompted menu. It's not necessary to root your phone either. That’s it!

FYI, this code only works on Samsung-based roms; it won't work on AOSP roms.
I wanted to know if there is anyway to move apps to SD card or to set install location to sd1...
My internal storage is more than 80% full (almost apps but no media files)..

Download and install "Titanium Backup". Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
Open the program and click on the options button of your phone and click on batch. You'll see a number of operations followed by a run button after each one. Scroll down and you'll see "move all user apps to SD card", click on run and you are done.
Remember:
Without partitioning the SD card, you will always have part of the apps on internal. With partitioning the SD card, you can move the entire apps to SD card.

After partitioning the SD card ,phone didn't recognize the sd card
Then I used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sylkat.AParted&hl=en ,and it worked for partitioning..
But Titanium backup doesn't have "move all user apps to SD card" option so I used Link2SD and Link2SD recognized the ext2 partition but after moving apps to SD card ,it says your phone doesn't support move apps to SD because its primary external memory is emulated from the interal storage..
