Okay, after installing the rather marvelous StockLite 5.0 ROM my wifi seems to have gotten a mind of its own.
The wifi is on, it sees networks and is scanning allright. However, I cannot save passwords of the Wifi network I am on all day @ work. I know I have the right credentials (password, network knows my mac address etc.etc.). My phone just says: can't save the network. (or somehting)
What is up and how do I pursuade my phone into acting as it should?
(no 10 posts yet, so can't post in the ROM thread, sorry about that)
The weird thing is that wifi works fine at home and at my moms place.
Could this be because the network @ work has WEP enabled while at home and at my mom's place we use WPA/PSK?

My experience is that if you install an Asian based ROM and use a NA or European modem file you will always experience some type of WiFi problem. So if you want to keep this ROM then flash the corresponding modem file. Otherwise switch back to a European ROM.

Ah, that would suck.
Anyway, thanks for replying. I'm gonna go find a rom that understands the wifi @ work. Even though Stock Lite is brilliant!

So this is the problem. Wifi works ok on my original 2.1 firmware. But it doesn't work on custom roms. Why is that? How can I fix it? Please help me someone/
Hi there
Some additional questions:
1) which custom roms have You tried ?
2) what do You mean by "doesn't work".
- Can it turn WIFI on ?
- Can it discover network?
- Can it connect to the network?
Which part is the problem.
Cheers

1. Couple of elenix , fusion rom , and others, cant remember their names.
2.Yes WiFi turns on ,discovers my network, says that it remembered it,but at the last step it says on the network Disconected, and on Wi-Fi disconected, and wifi begins to connect to it again, and it can happen like that forever.
I would think it's router related.
Have You tried with other wireless networks ?

it is your router problem , i had mine .. i 've managed to change router .. try other ROMs and see if it works than it is good
But why that my netbook and laptop are ok with wifi? I also mentioned that on original firmware everything was ok. Any suggestions?
Hi,
I am currently using pfonck's 2.1.1.Clean.0.0 *FINAL* ROM (& have been for over the past month or so). Prior to this I was using the stock SE build prior to the ....C.O firmware in pfonck's rom. In both of these SE roms I have had no WiFi problems whatsoever.
After trying many roms from the forum, and trying to connect to my home WiFi after adding it on my phone they all said: Authenticating, then Connecting, then Disconnected. My router WiFi setup is: WPA2/PSK Non-Broadcast SSID where the router only allows connections to MAC addresses it has been setup to store, recognise, then allow. I have also been explicitly told I must not change the router settings at all at home. So with these settings it was always fine with the stock SE rom, and then currently with pfonck's 2.1.1.Clean.0.0 *FINAL* ROM.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Request: Please could you make an optional cwm-flashable .zip which replaces the WiFi .libs and/or (whatever else is necessary) with the stock SE WiFi .libs (so just all of the WiFi part of the rom is back to the stock SE WiFi) ??
Many thanks
Kind regards
i got the same problem, stock SE wifi works, but after upgrading to any ROM wifi just has same error. even worse, it crashes the whole wifi network at home =S
but luckily i got large data allowance from my phone carrier, so dont really care bout wifi, and the benefits of upgrading ROM, far outweighs wifi =)
If it was really that simple to use the stock Wi-Fi libs the devs would have done it, do you think they enjoy solving problems with custom libs? And how many times have you started a thread asking the same thing?
EDIT: Its funny really. I don't seem to have any wi-fi problems with gingerdx v10. and i can change my router settings.

You may be able to change yours, but I'm not allowed to change the settings at home. That's the only reason I am asking as I would still like to use the amazing roms that the devs here make - they are awesome!
Please can a dev help me by having a go at this (see post #1). Thanks
Kind regards...
Hello,
Right to start my story.
I updated my phone through KIES up to the latest firmware.
Baseband - XXLPW
kernel : XWLPD
Android : 4.0.3
Worked fine. Figured I wanted root back. Flashed CF-root XX-NEE-LPD v.5.5 Kernel onto it from chainfires topic. Everything seemed to work fine except mobile internet. Wifi works fine, but it wont for the love of it, connect to mobile internet. The icon is just not there and everything says its not connected when Wifi is turned off.
So i flashed the Stock Kernel back to it from the Stock kernel / firmware thread.
At this point it still won't connect to Mobile Internet. However Wifi works fine. Which is great and all, but I really would like to use the internet in non wifi able areas. Like work.
So I flashed the complete XEN Stock package (mine is unbranded) for the netherlands. and Still no Mobile internet.
I added the access points for Rabo Mobiel each time with every setting from there website. But it wont connect. Data transfer mode is turned on so that is not the issue.
What could be causing this issue? and How do I fix it?

Try flashing just the modem again or flash another modem.
I think I have isolated the issue. I went and took a gamble and flashed an old official Gingerbread Firmware I still had stored away on the pc.
When I went back in to add my phone providers internet settings etc, it had 3 options and connection type. Internet, Internet+MMS and just MMS. I noticed my ICS earlier did not have those options and just had a blank space where one could type.
So No I am going to upgrade back to ICS using Kies Once again, if it is still a blank space one can fill in that clearly its an issue with the XEN Samsung ICS firmware. In that case ill just mod CM9 on it and see if I can get it to work in that. If not...back to gingerbread I go
Well I found out how to fix it -.-
Appearently with ICS comes a new APN setting in which the type of accespoint is no longer Just Internet, MMS or a Internet + MMS.
To get it to connect to the internet one has to type in default instead.
Oh well. This can be locked.

Hi all,
I've been happily following the progression of ROM developments, since I got my P7510 (P4WIFI) and sampling a variety of ROM's up through the versions of Android. I recently upgraded to a 4.3 ROM and developed a problem...I could connect to wifi as always, but could not get internet access (wifi connected, but no browsing, play store, weather apps, etc.).
I worked my way back through a number of recovery backups, knowing that in all of them I didn't have this problem, but it remained.
In desperation, I unrooted and returned to stock and the problem was still there! I found a .pit file for the 7510, re-partitioned, formatted the partitions and reloaded the stock ROM...still no change.
Can anyone point me to a solution? I've googled myself stoopid on this one...
Cheers,
PF.

Try to toggle airplane mode on then off..not sure if it will work on our tabs...but it works on my epic 4g touch..this is just a work around though.
What stock did you return to...
I'll look around and see what I can find...
My first thought was it's a router issue. I've had the same thing happen to me and in the end all that was needed was a router reboot.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the airplane mode on/off, but it didn't help.
The stock version I'm on is Build number IMM76D.XWMPF (P7510XWMPF_P7510XSAMP1_HOME.tar.md5)... I believe the correct one for my country...? Not sure if that's a red herring, though. The problem occurred going from 4.2 to 4.3 and has stuck with every restore and rebuild I've tried since.

Thanks B-man.
Tried the router reboot, no dice. Also tried connecting to different WAPs and the problem remains. I tried connecting to my SGS4 as a portable hotspot, which was working fine previously...identical problem...
Hello. I'm on 4.4.2, using Trent's ROM.
I'm having an issue where I can connect to WiFi, but no new networks show up after scans. I've been told here to flash "toltevzw_mj9_official_firmware.tar," but I have two issues: (1) I realized that I'm a dumb ass and posted on the wrong thread (that's not Trent's ROM), and am thus worried that the fix wouldn't work on Trent's ROM; (2) I can't find a working link of that .tar file.
I don't mind continuing to look for the file, but is flashing that likely to fix my issue, even on a different ROM? On Alliance, scanning for WiFi networks worked just fine.
