Hey all,
i am facing a problem with the .62 update, it downloads perfectly and in the installation phase it just can't make it let me explain how the device reboots normally showing the first splash screen the one with the arrow going out of the box then the second screen also but at the 3rd screen the one with the arrow is going into the phone it just reboots and open the phone showing the message unable to install the update and i still have the .62 update notification in my notification bar and is it Worthing.
any help would be appreciated
PS. i flashed the current version 4.0.2.A.0.42 (Global version(HongKong)) cause my phone got bricked and rooted it using a flashing tool with the file name (MT15i_ 4.0.2.A.0.42_Global)
one last thing i wish to know, when the ICS official update pops up can i still have it with this problem and is this a problem with the recovery cause i cant know that i am having a custom or the stock one and how can i know whether the boot loader locked or not

No need to unlock Bootloader
If you revert to .58 or earlier and root, then update via update centre app in your phone the root remains on the phone whilst you are updated to .62 so the result is a rooted .62 firmware
why not post in the original thread instead of making a new one? no offence but there are 1000's of rooting. 62 threads emerging these days.
thought it would of made it easier for people to see, rather than they going through loads of pages to find it out. ive tried several methods but this seems to be the only one that works .... my appologies

It works.I've used this method several times.
Does this mean your root is actually working after updating to .62 via the Update Center App?
Sorry to sound unconvinced. I just see most posts to have unlocked bootloader to root this new firmware.
UPDATE:
Did not work for me. My phone reboots on the 2nd to the last dot indicator and then says could not install the new firmware after it booted up.

Thats because you have modify your system. If you root a fresh installed firmware and make no modifications to it, then root will work after update OTA to .62

Is that so. Will try again.
is flashing the firmware is the only way to go back to .58 or is there any other small process

DO this:
Flash a fresh .58 firmware using FlashTool
Root it using DooMlorDs Easy Rooting Kit version 4
Connect to a WiFi or a stable 3G and update via Update Center App on your phone
Done!

Did you install CWM or change ANY stuff on /system partition? Like MODs or anything like that? Because i think this kind of stuff can make the OTA fail.

Please read my current post on such a stupid upgrade via PC Companion, flashed it back into .58, rooted again, installed ROM Manager, prior to upgrade it to .62 on the air... or you may simply cross your arms and wait for a few days to let SE engineers to fix that OTA bug
Get a "Generic US .58" firmware... you can use wotanserver... OTA update should be available with that.
Rooting the phone won't affect anything. So that's not the reason, it's the firmware.
OTA Update IS available for me, the problem is it can't install the update, anyway, I decided to stay with .58 fw version right now, I mean I don't have any problems at all using this version and I already deleted some system apps, so I think I'll wait for the ICS update.

I can't update by OTA to .62... at the end, the final step I guess, my handset stops and reboots normally, and a message appear on status bar: can't install.
Is a .377 (oooollldddd) st15a with root (by zergrush method), locked bootloader.
All stock, just with root.
So I decide to wait a custom ROM, the Mini ST15a/i Clean 'n' Tweaked, updated, by serajr.
Same here .... I am running a stock .58 fw
I have rooted the phone long ago but never unlocked the bootloader or installed the CWM.
Nonetheless, i start the update to .62 fw but the final step just says that is not possible ton install the update.
Any idea?
The only thing i did that MAY AFFECT the ota update is that i used titanium backup to integrate some app into the rom system and to delete some sony bloatware. This could really be the problem?
i have Xperia Neo (NOT NEO V) and i want to have .62 rooted

your phone can be unlocked bootloader, you should check it, if your phone unlocked bootloader, you can't update OTA, only use flashtool
I have the same problem with my neo
i checked and my phone's bootloader isn't unlocked
DO NOT INSTALL CWM before OTA update, it will cause the failure. Install CWM after OTA update to v.062.
So:
- root v42
- install OTA v62
- install CWM
All done.
Is still possible to receive OTA update to .62, even when ICS has been released? I was thinking of a downgrade because of the poor video and wifi performance but this kept me from trying.

Though you locked your bootloader back but can you please tell me with which method did you unlock the bootloader ??
Because i think you have lost your DRM and once they are gone you cant get it back (DRM gets lost while unlocking the bootloader). And if DRM is lost then you cannot use SE official updates
lol i wont buy a new one for now.

No, there is no need to get update from PC companion, you can download and flash custom ROMS made by devs at XDA which are better, cleaner, faster and awesome
No, you will need CWM to install the ROM which will be in the form of .zip so you should not remove CWM

Uninstall cwm but keep the root and then do the OTA (over the air) then yoou will keep your root but if you update with pcc then you are losing your root, but if you update with CWM then you get an error cannot install the update, but mate this is already posted so why double?

remove CWM, leave root, it's been talked about that already, read few threads in general section.

You won't recieve OTA updates if you unlock the bootloader using SE's tool
ie you cannot install if you unlock your bootloader, however your bootloader is locked so you can get official sony updates
Q.how do i know if the bootloader is unlocked?
quite easy, run either PCC or SEUS if it says that it can not recognize your phone bc you have a modified software then that means the bootloader has been unlocked.
Hey guys,
Im searching this forum and googling about removing/unstalling CWM recovery for Neo V but no luck even on thread where i learn how to install cwm.

Hello,
I have 4.1.B.0.431 on my xperia mini.
I found this on sony update......
"Make sure your device has the latest software so you can enjoy optimal performance and all of its features.
Latest available software: 4.1.B.0.587
Release date: 2012-08-16"
And here is my problem.
I have rooted device how do i update to 4.1.B.0.587 and keep my root?
It would be nice if someone packed the bundle of joy. (firmware, flash tool )
Im talking about all stock.
If you haven't unlocked your bootloader then you can just update via seus without any problem but I'm sure you'll lose your root . If you have unlocked your bootloader the official way then seus itself won't allow you to update your device. It'll throw an error saying you've modified your firmware so it's not possible to get the update. If it's a fota update and you just have rooted your device (bootloader is LOCKED) then go ahead and update you'll just lose your root privileges. IF YOU HAVE UNLOCKED YOUR BOOTLOADER OFFICIALLY AND IT'S A FOTA UPDATE THEN PLEASE DON'T UPDATE YOUR DEVICE VIA FOTA IT'LL POSSIBLY BRICK YOUR DEVICE! If you want to flash clean untouched firmware before update then see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792
And see this for flashtool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351309
And see this for retaining your root status http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695514 this is for.431 firmware but I'm sure it'll work for .587 too. And before posting please do search the forum. The question you've asked has been answered a lot of time .
